We just bought this amp for my 12 year old, who also has a hollow body Ibanez, and he’ll be opening it tomorrow. After seeing your video, I can tell he’s going to have a lot easier time tweaking the sound to get what he’s looking for. Thanks so much for this informative video!
Another mention here where I have had a lot of success with with this software. I have made what I call a 'Fender Pushed' setting and saved it in an empty slot. I saw a lot of videos that were showing demo's of various tube amps that used dual channels (clean and dirty). Primarily the Orange CR60C and some tube Fender models. One thing many of them did was to take the clean channel and "push" it hard to the point where it would start to break up on higher guitar volumes via the knob or pickup switch setting. This gave a clean sound that could be slightly broken up when the guitar volume was pushed to around 8 or higher. I really liked that tone for soloing or for a slightly crunchy rhythm. So I took the Fender Clean on slot one of the standard firmware and edited it in Fender Tone. I wound up moving amp settings to lower the mids, enhance the bass and highs a bit, pushed the gain to around 7 and lowered the model amp volume. Then I enhanced the reverb level up, lowered the duration period and adjusted down the tone a bit. This worked great. Now when I move the volume of my guitar I can push into a still clean but just broken up level like I wanted and I can keep my volume as subtle as I want it on the actual amp itself. If I keep the volume low it is clean again...then I can dirty it up a bit with just a change of the guitar volume. Another setting I came up with has a great Chuck Berry tone like you hear on Maybelline. If anyone wants to try it let me know and maybe you can critique it and give some feedback as to some edits to make it even better.

I just found one for 85 at a pawn shop. He gave it to me for 70 bucks! I think that's pretty great, considering I can update it and get some more slots and the software has been updated. Can't wait to start messing around with it! Thanks for your videos man. Subbed!

Have had the LT25 just over a year, great amp 25 watts great for the house. Actually loud & clean at half volume. Master at house usually at 2 or 3. Built in factory presets, with customizations by dials on amp. But this Fender Tone app has just made this a brand new better amp. More effects, customizations and great behind pc or mac screen. Practice, create new & dial in - fine tune your presets & mouse. And create many more. Had a hell of a time getting the Tone app to recognize & start firmware update to the amp. I had to run the Fender Tone app as "Administrator" on Win 10 for the firmware update to recognize the LT25, then auto start & complete the firmware update. App has to run everytime as administrator to then sync with amp, which i took care of via a altering the desktop shortcut. Great amp & great video thanks!

I need to fine tune a lot of them but this is a game changer for me in terms of this amp. I've got a fender clean and classic rock sound that i absolutely LOVE on this amp...if there was only a way to toggle between them two with a footswitch it would be the ultimate practice amp!

Hey Tony. You're a budding guitar player's best friend out there. I think we'd all like to hang out at your house and play and learn about guitar stuff with you. I'm old school, or maybe just old, and I love the idea of creating all those patches like you've done. But, I want to download them onto the amp itself once I've got a sound where I want it so I don't have to be hooked up to a computer when I play. What's the process to get the patches you create onto the amp? I can easily see that I would replace most of the factory presets with ones I would make. Thanks!

Excellent review! Do you know if is possible to use LT25 as input/output audio interface to play (and hear in real time from amp speaker) through PC guitar amp modeling plugin as Amplitube or Bias FX? It seems that USB works only as input device, so it could be used aux in of the amp to receive PC output?
Yup you can, I just started using it as an audio interface on my laptop. I used it on audacity but going to try on Ableton since it’s a complete daw. You can play while sounds come out your amp or plug in headphones
This interface is perfect, except for the noise gate. I'd use it mainly with the Fuzz Effect, but you can't. Good thing I have a noise gate of my own I can plug in. I don't know why other amp modelers and software isn't this easy to use. After playing this amp for 10-15 minutes I knew I was keeping it. I wish I would bought this or another Fender Mustang Version instead of my Peavey Bandit last year. Less studying how to use the equipment and more playing. Too bad my recording software isn't as easy.

the old mustang 1 had mini usb -this has micro usb -like the one used on modern mobile phones Samsung etc- you can get a cable from any mobile phone seller usb to micro usb cable-hope this helps
Great video and I want to add a note here in case some others run into this. I downloaded the Fender Tone software and installed it on my laptop. I plugged in to the USB of the Mustang LT25 and it failed to recognize the device at all. Windows however does see it and states that it is working properly via USB. I messed with all sorts of things (updating USB drivers, editing the power saving option in Windows for USB, etc) and nothing worked that allowed the software to see the amp at all. I slept on it for a while and then I tried again with the same results but then I forced the firmware upgrade to the Fender amp (via Fender Tone) without it recognizing that the amp was even connected. The note on the connection failure of the software stated to try this as it may work in small print. It is done, as it says, by forcing the firmware upgrade by powering down, holding down the selector knob, turning back on the amp and wait for three seconds. This will leave you with a blank screen on the amp and a blinking tempo light...now go back to the software (which will still not see your amp) and force the firmware upgrade. It takes about 3 minutes. Now recycle the amp and rescan via software and it will work! This might seem obvious to some but it was not for me. I assumed that the Fender Tone software would need to see the amp before it could push the firmware upgrade...but it does not. Without that initial push of firmware the software will not work (at least with the version of the amp firmware I had). Push it anyway and then all is well. It threw me for a loop and I wanted to mention this to anyone else who ran into this. Cheers.
No it just has a simple auto wah which sounds really nice. But I think you'd want to use a dedicated wah pedal like a Morley or something to get that sort of sound.
Hi Tony , may i ask you a question ? Is there a tip to increase or decrease the midtones ? I know there is no midtones knob but in the GT it could be increase o decrease keeping encoder pressed(pushed) and move the treble knob , maybe could be posted or asked to Fender, sorry for my poor english and thank you so much for the beatiful review , really love them ! take care
Appreciate you Tony! How did you get the amp connected to the desktop app? Are you using windows or Mac? I’m in this loop where my Mac doesn’t recognizeing the device after putting the amp in update mode and launching the app? Any suggestions? Great playing man
Yes I am using a Mac. You might be having some difficulties because of a bad cable. I've noticed some of mine work well with the connection between the amp and iMac and then some don't. Give that a shot at any rate and see if it helps.
I shot a video at Sweetwater with Brian Lemert where he played through a Champion 40 - see this: ruclips.net/video/i7uHSzOWq1c/видео.html - I think they are great amps, but seem to be the more "dial in a sound" kind of hands on amp versus the "create and save patches" approach of the LT25. Honestly, the Champion may sound superior, but I love the programability of the LT.

Hey Sreyas - I followed the instructions on this page and it worked perfectly. I was updating using a late model iMac. This amp is not just for beginners. I mike it with an sm-57 and run it into my mixer than out to thee PA system. Thanks for the firmware update info. I only wish there was a way the switch from Different presets instead of just one with the pedal they made for it. Do you know if there is a multi stomp pedal that will allow me to click through all or many of my presets on the fly?
I haven’t tried the app yet because I need a cable. But on the amp it self it only lets me use one pre effect 🤷♂️ not two at same time like on the software

Oh no - don't put that on me! I actually love both for different reasons. I think if I were going to use it to play live, I'd still go with the Vox. If I were going to record a lot, or use the amp with additional pedals I'd probably go with the Fender. The edge I give to the Vox is the tru tube pre-amp, but the models with the LT25 are very good. It has 100 factory presets now, and 60 locations for user-editable presets. I'm going to put out a video that shows all 100 of the factory presets tomorrow. Watch it and see with you think. Both just sound great though. Really tough call. Tube overdrive with the VOX, and the switchable bias, etc. really make it hard to beat.

Clean amps max OD on a clean amp when i want to solo. So for the clean sounds or worships type songs what do you think is better? It’s funny some of the reviews of this amp say it’s only a beginner amp. I have this amp and like it and don’t see why you couldn’t gig with it! What do you use it for?
Since the upgrade in firmware and the extra space is to store patches I've been building my favorite amp models for various guitars. I've built a bank of about 20 that I like to use with my telecaster and about 14 or 15 that I like with my strat. I'm currently making some sounds or patches that I like to use with semi hollow guitars. I think this amp works great for recording and I don't see any reason why you couldn't gig with it as long as you get it mic'd up well or go direct into the board. It might not be quite loud enough to play over the drums if you have a guy in the band who hits the skins pretty hard. I'm talking about using just the speaker cab without PA amplification. I think it would work great in most country bands folk and Americana groups. I just think you'd have to make it up to play classic or heavy rock or maybe even blues.
EDIT: HAD TO UPDATE MY DRIVERS ON THE LAPTOP THEN WORKED FINE. Hello I hope you see this I cannot get my amp to update it’s firmware. It won’t prompt an update in the fender tone amp. I have it set to update mode by powering the amp while holding the encoder button.... I need your help
My thoughts about this amp: I had feeling that this amp is under pillow . First what I did just turn off all effects and l leave main preset. Aspecially compressor. After I added little bit reverb only. After while I came to conclusion, that this speaker sound much better with single coil that humbucker, which I have. What to do? Sell them or change speaker. I decided change a speaker and now is much better. I bought Jensen C8R. Now I have more mid. High tones are more balanced, and much easier hear difference when I change settings. Now is much much better, as a practice amp. And with new software is more attractive.
@@mma1st105 In my opinion doesn't. I haven't heard differences, I haven't seen respond when I tried adjust an amp. After change, that difference is more visible. Don't forget that's only 8" speaker. Now, for practice or jamming at home is enough. Next one will be with 12" :D I'm still happy after change. Who knows, maybe I will buy used GT 100 and once again change speaker myself. Or my new discavery: roland blues cube. Awesom for me !
Can I put soundtrack through this app and play on the guitar with the soundtrack on background from mustang lt25 amplifier? So soundtrack and my playing on the guitar at the same time from amp?
Yes - you can play music from an audio source into the 1/8" jack, and play along with LT25 sounds, but you can't record both the guitar and the external sound source through the USB connection.
@@nilaysuthar7038 I just connect the USB to my iMac. I then have to go into the preferences on my Adobe Audition or Logic Pro and change the Audio Hardware settings to select the LT25 for input. That's how I do it. Then just select a track to record on, and start recording.
LOWFIELDWORLD It looks like no update for foot switches. Just the single button two preset switch. Works for swapping between rhythm and lead presets or maybe clean and overdriven.
Hi tony! If I use the USB on this and connect it to a USB to lightning camera adapter could I record directly onto GarageBand IOS? I know you can do so for PC but can I do this on mobile?

HELP! Anyone try to update the firmware and get stuck in the continuous loop of "No Device Connected" Followed all steps recommended on Squier Talk in order and correctly. Using a Mac Book Pro. Downloaded the correct Fendertone desktop app for LT Mustang Specifically. What is happening? Don't know how to get my mac to recognize the connection
Same problem here... I’m also trying to install this on a MacBook Pro (2012 edition). I’ve checked the OS version, but that wasn’t the problem. Do you also get a blank (dark) screen after turning on the amp while holding the Encoder button for 3 secs? To me it looks like the amp isn’t turned on at all. Would love to hear if you’ve solved the issue by now :|
Ugh I feel for you! I’m still trying to sort it out? It’s like the loop of Doom. It’s like the Mac doesn’t have the right driver to recognize the amp but Fender website clearly states no additional drivers needed for Mac. I’m running the latest Catalina software. I can see the amp as a device and the usb cable works correctly but when I go to Sound preferences the App is not popping up for input or output selection? I’m not computer savvy enough to sort it. Been all over the internet searching and it seems we’re the only ones in the same boat. At least we’re together lol. Best of luck I’ll let you know if a miracle happens

I got the gtx50 and the tone app is broken every time I lunched ask me to update the AMP when my AMP has the latest update version 3.0.52 any ideas how to fix it?

No matter what I do I cant figure out how to even update firmware or connect to the windows Fender Tone app on my PC. The app keeps detecting 2 amps when I turn on the amp in firmware update mode and I dont know what to do. Ive also tried to just connect it without the amp being in firmware update mode and it wont detect it. I just got the amp today and am thinking of returning it since I can't update the amp or connect to the app. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!
I sure hope someone chimes in who can help with this one. I have mine hooked up to a iMac. No problems getting anything to work on that platform but I've not tried with the PC.

I've got a fender clean and classic rock sound that i absolutely LOVE on this amp...if there was only a way to toggle between them two with a footswitch it would be the ultimate practice amp!
Hi Tony, I have the amp and your videos have been a great help to me learning sounds etc. I am however pretty computer illiterate and have no idea how to hook up the amp to my mac. Could you do a video and/or explain here how I go about hooking it up step by step.

Hey Tony. You're a budding guitar player's best friend out there. I think we'd all like to hang out at your house and play and learn about guitar stuff with you. I'm old school, or maybe just old, and I love the idea of creating all those patches like you've done. But, I want to download them onto the amp itself once I've got a sound where I want it so I don't have to be hooked up to a computer when I play. What's the process to get the patches you create onto the amp? I can easily see that I would replace most of the factory presets with ones I would make. Thanks!
When he explained the saving process. (Save, save as) that is directly saving to the amp.

Do you know if is possible to use LT25 as input/output audio interface to play (and hear in real time from amp speaker) through PC guitar amp modeling plugin as Amplitube or Bias FX? It seems that USB works only as input device, so it could be used aux in of the amp to receive PC output?
Yup you can, I just started using it as an audio interface on my laptop. I used it on audacity but going to try on Ableton since it’s a complete daw. You can play while sounds come out your amp or plug in headphones
This interface is perfect, except for the noise gate. I'd use it mainly with the Fuzz Effect, but you can't. Good thing I have a noise gate of my own I can plug in. I don't know why other amp modelers and software isn't this easy to use. After playing this amp for 10-15 minutes I knew I was keeping it. I wish I would bought this or another Fender Mustang Version instead of my Peavey Bandit last year.
Less studying how to use the equipment and more playing. Too bad my recording software isn't as easy.
You are correct. It's totally intuitive. For a small studio amp it's a hard one to beat.

the old mustang 1 had mini usb -this has micro usb -like the one used on modern mobile phones Samsung etc- you can get a cable from any mobile phone seller usb to micro usb cable-hope this helps
Great video and I want to add a note here in case some others run into this. I downloaded the Fender Tone software and installed it on my laptop. I plugged in to the USB of the Mustang LT25 and it failed to recognize the device at all. Windows however does see it and states that it is working properly via USB. I messed with all sorts of things (updating USB drivers, editing the power saving option in Windows for USB, etc) and nothing worked that allowed the software to see the amp at all. I slept on it for a while and then I tried again with the same results but then I forced the firmware upgrade to the Fender amp (via Fender Tone) without it recognizing that the amp was even connected. The note on the connection failure of the software stated to try this as it may work in small print. It is done, as it says, by forcing the firmware upgrade by powering down, holding down the selector knob, turning back on the amp and wait for three seconds. This will leave you with a blank screen on the amp and a blinking tempo light...now go back to the software (which will still not see your amp) and force the firmware upgrade. It takes about 3 minutes. Now recycle the amp and rescan via software and it will work!
This might seem obvious to some but it was not for me. I assumed that the Fender Tone software would need to see the amp before it could push the firmware upgrade...but it does not. Without that initial push of firmware the software will not work (at least with the version of the amp firmware I had). Push it anyway and then all is well. It threw me for a loop and I wanted to mention this to anyone else who ran into this.

Try using a different cable. Some cables are made for charging only - not for data transfer. That should do it! good Luck!

You can have a tone of wah like hendrix or frusciante??
No it just has a simple auto wah which sounds really nice. But I think you'd want to use a dedicated wah pedal like a Morley or something to get that sort of sound.
Hi Tony , may i ask you a question ? Is there a tip to increase or decrease the midtones ? I know there is no midtones knob but in the GT it could be increase o decrease keeping encoder pressed(pushed) and move the treble knob , maybe could be posted or asked to Fender, sorry for my poor english and thank you so much for the beatiful review , really love them ! take care
How are you recording the amp? Via USB or mic? Sorry if I missed it if you mentioned it.

Yes I am using a Mac. You might be having some difficulties because of a bad cable. I've noticed some of mine work well with the connection between the amp and iMac and then some don't. Give that a shot at any rate and see if it helps.

Great video. I've got a question for you: Have you ever used a Champion 20, and if yes, how would you compare it to the LT25?
I shot a video at Sweetwater with Brian Lemert where he played through a Champion 40 - see this: ruclips.net/video/i7uHSzOWq1c/видео.html - I think they are great amps, but seem to be the more "dial in a sound" kind of hands on amp versus the "create and save patches" approach of the LT25. Honestly, the Champion may sound superior, but I love the programability of the LT.

Hey Sreyas - I followed the instructions on this page and it worked perfectly. I was updating using a late model iMac. This amp is not just for beginners. I mike it with an sm-57 and run it into my mixer than out to thee PA system. Thanks for the firmware update info. I only wish there was a way the switch from Different presets instead of just one with the pedal they made for it. Do you know if there is a multi stomp pedal that will allow me to click through all or many of my presets on the fly?

I haven’t tried the app yet because I need a cable. But on the amp it self it only lets me use one pre effect 🤷♂️ not two at same time like on the software
How do you get to the fender tone? Just plug the usb from the computer into the amp and it will come up?
You have to download the update from the fender site ,then install the fender tone desktop and connect the amp via USB and sync

Oh no - don't put that on me! I actually love both for different reasons. I think if I were going to use it to play live, I'd still go with the Vox. If I were going to record a lot, or use the amp with additional pedals I'd probably go with the Fender. The edge I give to the Vox is the tru tube pre-amp, but the models with the LT25 are very good. It has 100 factory presets now, and 60 locations for user-editable presets. I'm going to put out a video that shows all 100 of the factory presets tomorrow. Watch it and see with you think. Both just sound great though. Really tough call. Tube overdrive with the VOX, and the switchable bias, etc. really make it hard to beat.

Clean amps max OD on a clean amp when i want to solo. So for the clean sounds or worships type songs what do you think is better? It’s funny some of the reviews of this amp say it’s only a beginner amp. I have this amp and like it and don’t see why you couldn’t gig with it! What do you use it for?
Since the upgrade in firmware and the extra space is to store patches I've been building my favorite amp models for various guitars. I've built a bank of about 20 that I like to use with my telecaster and about 14 or 15 that I like with my strat. I'm currently making some sounds or patches that I like to use with semi hollow guitars. I think this amp works great for recording and I don't see any reason why you couldn't gig with it as long as you get it mic'd up well or go direct into the board. It might not be quite loud enough to play over the drums if you have a guy in the band who hits the skins pretty hard. I'm talking about using just the speaker cab without PA amplification. I think it would work great in most country bands folk and Americana groups. I just think you'd have to make it up to play classic or heavy rock or maybe even blues.

Both will work, just find a DAW configure the audio settings and you’re good to go
I just updated the firmware (1/7/22.) Its now V2.0.6. Looks like several new updates but I can't find any differences.
EDIT: HAD TO UPDATE MY DRIVERS ON THE LAPTOP THEN WORKED FINE.
Hello I hope you see this I cannot get my amp to update it’s firmware. It won’t prompt an update in the fender tone amp. I have it set to update mode by powering the amp while holding the encoder button.... I need your help
My thoughts about this amp: I had feeling that this amp is under pillow . First what I did just turn off all effects and l leave main preset. Aspecially compressor. After I added little bit reverb only. After while I came to conclusion, that this speaker sound much better with single coil that humbucker, which I have. What to do? Sell them or change speaker. I decided change a speaker and now is much better. I bought Jensen C8R. Now I have more mid. High tones are more balanced, and much easier hear difference when I change settings. Now is much much better, as a practice amp. And with new software is more attractive.

@@mma1st105 In my opinion doesn't. I haven't heard differences, I haven't seen respond when I tried adjust an amp. After change, that difference is more visible. Don't forget that's only 8" speaker. Now, for practice or jamming at home is enough. Next one will be with 12" :D

Who knows, maybe I will buy used GT 100 and once again change speaker myself. Or my new discavery: roland blues cube. Awesom for me !

Is there a huge difference between this one and the LT50 model? Can you use presets made by others in the community on the LT25 like on the LT50?
From what i heard the lt50 obv has more watts, but it's pretty much the same, maybe the factory presets are a bit different
Can I put soundtrack through this app and play on the guitar with the soundtrack on background from mustang lt25 amplifier? So soundtrack and my playing on the guitar at the same time from amp?
Yes - you can play music from an audio source into the 1/8" jack, and play along with LT25 sounds, but you can't record both the guitar and the external sound source through the USB connection.

@@nilaysuthar7038 I just connect the USB to my iMac. I then have to go into the preferences on my Adobe Audition or Logic Pro and change the Audio Hardware settings to select the LT25 for input. That's how I do it. Then just select a track to record on, and start recording.

LOWFIELDWORLD It looks like no update for foot switches. Just the single button two preset switch. Works for swapping between rhythm and lead presets or maybe clean and overdriven.

Hi tony! If I use the USB on this and connect it to a USB to lightning camera adapter could I record directly onto GarageBand IOS? I know you can do so for PC but can I do this on mobile?
That's a great question. I've never tried to hook up to a pad or iPhone. I'll test it and try to get back to you soon.

HELP! Anyone try to update the firmware and get stuck in the continuous loop of "No Device Connected" Followed all steps recommended on Squier Talk in order and correctly. Using a Mac Book Pro. Downloaded the correct Fendertone desktop app for LT Mustang Specifically. What is happening? Don't know how to get my mac to recognize the connection
Same problem here... I’m also trying to install this on a MacBook Pro (2012 edition). I’ve checked the OS version, but that wasn’t the problem. Do you also get a blank (dark) screen after turning on the amp while holding the Encoder button for 3 secs? To me it looks like the amp isn’t turned on at all. Would love to hear if you’ve solved the issue by now :|
Ugh I feel for you! I’m still trying to sort it out? It’s like the loop of Doom. It’s like the Mac doesn’t have the right driver to recognize the amp but Fender website clearly states no additional drivers needed for Mac. I’m running the latest Catalina software. I can see the amp as a device and the usb cable works correctly but when I go to Sound preferences the App is not popping up for input or output selection? I’m not computer savvy enough to sort it. Been all over the internet searching and it seems we’re the only ones in the same boat. At least we’re together lol. Best of luck I’ll let you know if a miracle happens

You could as long as it's on the front end. There's not an effects loop with this amp.

No matter what I do I cant figure out how to even update firmware or connect to the windows Fender Tone app on my PC. The app keeps detecting 2 amps when I turn on the amp in firmware update mode and I dont know what to do. Ive also tried to just connect it without the amp being in firmware update mode and it wont detect it. I just got the amp today and am thinking of returning it since I can't update the amp or connect to the app. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!
I sure hope someone chimes in who can help with this one. I have mine hooked up to a iMac. No problems getting anything to work on that platform but I've not tried with the PC.
