How to Access All 160 Presets on Fender Mustang LT25 Amplifier

  • A number of folks have asked how to access the 100 factory presets that go along with the 60 presets you can take out with you on the Fender Mustang LT25 amplifier. Here's how I do it from my computer using ToneRoom. You can audition the 100 factory presets and then save them into one of the 60 user spaces. Hope this helps. Note that you have to have the latest firmware update as of September of 2020 to get the additional presets.

    Tony thank you for this series of videos! I bought my LT-25 in January as my first amp and you showed me how to update the firmware and use the Tone software and I'm grateful. The LT-25 is a great amp for the money and I recently bought the GTX100 for a (someday!) gigging amp and like that one even more.

    Useful info - thanks! Just to be clear though - looking at my LT25 it seems to me like there are 100 presets in total, and 30 of those are pre-loaded on the amp, so there are 70 more in the Tone software.

      There are 20 more in the replace section of the save menu

    • @tonygolding4966
      @tonygolding4966 2 года назад +2

      Xander, you're talking about the original firmware. The current firmware gives you 60 presets, none of which are hidden like they were in the original firmware. Of those 60 slots, the first 30 are pre-filled with some of the 100 that exist in the Tone application for Windows, and the remaining 30 are empty (well actually not completely empty - they contain the Super Clean Studio Preamp and nothing else). However you can do whatever you want with any of the 60 slots - delete, edit, replace, or copy factory presets from Tone into them. My original point above, was that there are not 160 factory presets - there are 100, and you can fit 60 of them on the amp. If you still have 20 hidden presets on your amp then I'd suggest connecting it to Tone with a USB cable to update the firmware 🙂

    Thanks for showing what this little amp can do. I just bought it today, 6/3/21 after buying my guitar Ibanez AS73FM a week ago. It fits perfectly right on top of my Ampeg BA 115. I’m 73 and started playing bass about 7 years ago. I’ve been playing through my bass amps and it sounds good, but maybe not quite right. I can’t play the guitar yet (except for a couple of Chord Buddy tunes, the only reason I considered buying a guitar after discovering it), but your demo gives me hope of adding more clean sounds to the amp if I can figure out how.

    Hey Tony, great info as always. I’m looking at Fender LT modelers. Bedroom volumes only. I don’t need 50 watts but would the larger, 12” speaker of the 50 yield better, richer tones than the 8” speakers of the 25 at the same low decibel level? Or at low levels, does it matter? Thanks for all your content. It helps so many of us.

      Hey Gray. That one in the video is just a cheap Oscar Schmidt OS 50. I love the way it plays though. I put locking tuners on it and have really grown to appreciate the neck and sound of the pickups. It's super cheap but delivers a lot of punch. It's fun to use in the LT25 series of videos because it's a cheap guitar going into a cheap amp but still demoing how much sound you can get for a low price.

      @@tonyleeglenn I started out thinking that I needed to buy expensive guitars and I ended up selling all of them and ended up with used guitars in the $500 range for the most part.
      When I was a kid I had a cheap acoustic guitar (and later a Fender electric). That cheap acoustic was hard to play.
      That's not the case these days. Everything seems to be pretty good regardless of price. I've since sold it but I had a cheap ($200 used) surf green Danelectro U2 that played just fine.
      I just recently got a new less than $200 shipped lap steel guitar just for fun (I knew nothing about them). That plays well too.

    Why not a slot for a SD card in a future version? Cheap and easy to implement, all the space in the world for presets.
    The first company to put that feature in a decent sounding amp might make a killing...

    • @tonyleeglenn
      @tonyleeglenn  3 года назад +1

      Yes - it truly would be great to allow unlimited presets. A SD reader would take care of that. Maybe they are afraid of giving us too much and ruining their future marketing of new products?

      @@tonyleeglenn That's the reason the 100W verions of these modeling amps don't have a line for a cabinet, even though they're for gigging. This is just the sort of dumbassery that led Philips and Creative Labs to never put SDs in their media players, because crapple didn't. Might be wrong.

    When I go on this app I only see a total inventory of 99 tones including the 30 preloaded tones in my amp. I therefore have an additional 69 tones of which I have room to load 30 of them into my amp. In your video you say there are available in total 160 tones. Where do you get this number from.? I don’t understand where I see a total of 99 tones in the app and you say 160.

    • @tonyleeglenn
      @tonyleeglenn  Год назад +1

      You have 60 in the amp, then access to 100 additional presets in the editor. That's 160 sounds you can access immediately for recording or practice. You can only take 60 presets out "in the amp" to a gig . . . unless you take a computer with you too, and access from the editor.

    Tony - thanks for this fantastic video as it has helped immensely! I have a question that beckons your expertise on the LT25.
    I have been, albeit unsuccessfully, attempting to find a similar sound on the LT25 that mirrors the tone/sound that is played by the Foo Fighters on their "Wheels" video. You can really hear it between the :25 and :45 seconds mark of the attached video. Link is: ruclips.net/video/sBalrWc38fE/видео.html
    I am hoping that with your vast experience, you would be able to come up with something similar? It sounds pretty clean to me with low distortion/gain, but I am certainly not the expert here. I am using an Ibanez S621 fyi.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!
