Fender Mustang 1 Amp vs. Fender Mustang LT25 Amp - Which Should You Buy?
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 14 авг 2024
- A subscriber asked my opinion about whether he should purchase the Fender Mustang 1 version 2 amp or the Mustang LT25. I sort of dance around the subject since I love both amps, but I share my heart and reasons for liking both amps. I also discuss their scant downsides. I don't do a lot of playing in this video - mostly just discussing why you might choose one of these excellent amps over the other.
I'm a tone chaser but it's all in the hands and you got it Tony!!!
lt25 is CLEARLY superior to a lot of other amps
but yes it is a practice amp but it can atcually get preety loud if you need that
and best part at the lt25 is the price
for what it offers its price is extremely good
Thanks for posting! This is just the question I've been asking -- whether to upgrade from my Mustang 1. Mostly I think the display and the software make the LT25 worth the upgrade. Thanks!
I have a version 1 mustang1 that I managed to get 2 killer irreplaceable tones from that I switch between: a 65twin reverb clean with a slapback type sound, and the British 60's setting that gives a nice throaty woman tone.
I bought it after playing it in a music store. I tried the LT in the store the other week and it sounded thin to me, but I only tried a couple presets. I fear the input Jack on my mustang is going bad so I bought a Blackstar 5w tube amp with a great clean tone and killer features to have for the Long haul, but nothing will ever replace the mustang 1 in my heart!
I know you can't really find any new Mustang V2's anymore but for my money it's better. You may be able to get way more sounds out of the Lt 25 but what you do get out of the V2 is much better tone all around. Perhaps the speaker is better. In any case it just sounds more natural to me. I found a used one at GC for 80 bucks andlove it.
Which one do you think it's better for jazz? Any other suggestions for guitar amplifiers for jazz music?
I get some great blues tones with a Strat from the LT25 on the BF Deluxe and Twin amp models, with an overdrive in front and a little delay for sweetening the tone, with my favorite overdrive being the Caline Medusa Klon klone.
Tony lee - to me , you are the must trusted source on the internet. i know you aren't trying to sell anyone's product - thanks!!!!
You don't know how much this comment means to me. You're right. I have no agenda - and I don't ever want to be owned or leveraged by anyone. Ive done a few vids about free guitars that have been sent my way, but I really want to be 100% honest about all the products. Maybe that's why they don't send me many!
That classic vibe Tele is premium !
I was thinking about upgrading my Mustang V1 to the LT25 but for my purposes it doesn’t sound like I’m missing out on much
The V1 is still a legit amp and sounds great. There are some cool bells and whistles with the LT25, but you are probably just fine with the older mustang if you dig the tones!
Hey Tony, I'm a new subscriber. Just came across your channel. Awesome video and tones. I saw a video someone did and they used a 65 twin reverb. I fell in love with that tone. I think it's on the new Fender 3 tone app for windows. I'm just starting out on the guitar as a beginner at 65 and I think the LT25 would be a great starter amp. What do you think? Love your channel.
Hey Johnny. Many thanks for subscribing. Glad you like the vids. The Mustang LT25 is a great amp for the beginner in my opinion. There are just a lot of great sounds to inspire you, and all at a very modest price. It's certainly loud enough for practice or even performance if you mic it up, or play with a drummer who uses an electronic kit. Some of the sounds are a little noisy, so I use the noise gate on most of my sounds. It works great though. I bought a cheap Behringer tube screamer to put on the front end before going into the amp and that makes for a very satisfying and low noise experience. Great sounds, lots of effects - and affordable. That really defines a good beginner amp for me.
What amp should I choose between the Lt25 and the Vox Vt20x?
I like the tone of the first Comfortably Numb solo and the Bohemian rhapsody solo. I also like blues(SRV and BB King)
I thin the vt20x is the one you should chose. I have the bigger version the vt40x and it nails many tones from clean to heavy metal. It's an amazing sounding amp for the pricr
Thanks for the video. I love my Mustang 1 V2 so inspiring playing 50’s and 60’s kind of sound. But for the price and going to buy the LT25 just to try it out and maybe keep them both.
They really do complement each other very well.
Thank you for the video tony.I think ill go with the lt25
So bummed out that my on/off switch on my V1 broke off and ended up zapping me trying to turn on/off :/
A Telecaster will make anything sound good ❤ But I wonder if a cheap strat will?
Thanks Tony for a new informative video I have the first version of this one as well.
It's nice isn't it. It's one of those little gems that will be sounding great 20 years from now in my opinion. There's a lot of cool new whiz bang with the LT25, but that little Mustang 1 just sounds sweet!
Tony Lee Glenn hey to tony great video. I was just wandering what is is good for blues and grunge the lt25 mustang or the vox by 20 x? Cheers 👍👍👍
Tony Lee Glenn sorry vt 20x
@@jasonbowman8698 Either would work Jason. For blues though, I'd probably still go with the tube overdrive you get on the Vox. But there's no lack of cool tones you can get with the Fender. Maybe I'll do another video about just blues tones on these affordable amps.
Tony Lee Glenn thanks for the reply tony really appreciate it. I’m in Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺 and they both retail about the same price. I love blues especially the pentatonic scale but I’ve been dipping my toe into grunge eg smashing pumpkins 🎃, nirvana ,Bush and other bands I’ll be diving into in the future. I’d love to have both amps but that won’t be possible. I guess I’ll have to try both amps and see how I go cheers 🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻
At 34 seconds, you show the top of your Mustang. Isn’t that the Mustang 1 v2? Looks exactly like mine. Version 1 has different type face. Should say 1 v2 on the back.
Great advice Tony for nabbing a few of these low cost amps. I got a LT25 in April and so far I'm enjoying the daylights out of it. Although the tuner quit working on it in less than two months. But I use a Snark for tuning anyways. It still hacked me off that it quit so quickly. I only used it a couple of times. I'm still learning to play guitar so honestly the LT25 is light years ahead of my fully understanding how to get the most out of it.
Thanks for the video and advice. You oughta check out the Monoprice Stage Right 15 watt tube amp. It's running $250 and has some positive reviews. Ya night wanna check out their Tele style and Strat style guitars. They have L.P. and semi hollow styles as well starting at $99 for the Tele & Strat models. I bought a Tele in a Sunburst color and it's a sweet and pretty well built guitar for the price. Later man.
I'm enjoying the Positive Grid Spark amp at the moment. It has a smart jam feature that uses a phone app to play backing tracks. It's also a great practice amp as well. There's a long waiting time for them at the moment. Check out some of the RUclips videos. Good to see you on RUclips!
Fuse is gone ! Have the 2 . But my Tube amps CRUCH 💫
for a person who can play some songs and riffs but only play in home and domestic stuff, should I buy the lt25 or mustang v2? I'm looking for effects and maybe recording a little bit but as a beginner, not professionally
For the price, I like the effects available on the LT25.
Tony - i really enjoy your videos and enjoy watching you. i've learn so much the last couple years. i'm debating: a used Fender Mustang I v2 (for $65) or Fender Mustang LT25 (used $100 / new ~$140). any advice? i don't need all that software stuff and a ton of presets - just the best good sounding clean amp. maybe the LT25 give me more fun as i grow over the years?
Both are really great little amps and you’ll get satisfying sounds from either one. I guess if you want to stay more modern you go with the LT 25 boo and that’s a killer price you are getting. Thanks for watching Michael!
@@tonyleeglenn thanks - hopefully your reply and our discussion can help someone else too. all the continued best.
I don't think I'll buy any one of them, now that I know their plan is to discontinue the software. I got a 150$ paper weight in my closet already(a Tascam 144 USB Interface); the driver was discontinued a year after I bought it. It works with Windows XP. Tascam will sell me a new one for sure, but I won't buy it.
I have the VTX 20 sadly the USB broke but still manage to get good sound without the tone room, I believe VOX is going more to the Nutube design, I am curious on these Fender Amps, the other one I am curious about is the Blackstart HTR1 their little tube amp,
Very informative, thanks!
What does the noise gate do? what's it used for? thanks
Which I should choose between 2 amp? Any one please suggest me
Man that’s some sweet sound
Musicians Workshop is a great local store in Asheville!
Amen. I've been buying gear there since my college days in the early '80s.
Tony Lee Glenn Mark the Luthier does all my tech work. I would say you are dating yourself but I was in college at the same time! Love your videos, thanks for your work.
gee nothin personal here but i was actually expectin you to demonstrate the amps you were talkin about .. as opposed to just talkin about em for almost 13 minutes .. ya know like actually show the knob layouts and what they do .. the speakers they come with .. how hard they are to understand ..or easy ?/ i got after the first few minutes you liked em both .. but 12 minutes of i like em both and still no demo ?/ i got that after the first minute or two .. that left you 10 minutes to actually dig in and SHOW US SOMETHIN ABOUT THE AMPS ???????? GEE .. AM I ASKIN TOO MUCH ??
I had done all the reviews in other videos. This was just an opinion vid.
@@tonyleeglenn then in that case, it would've been a good idea to provide links to those videos in the description of this one.
What’s that bass guitar behind you??
It’s this: Hadean Fretless Uke Bass Review - Cheaper than UBass - Sounds Great!

Question? Is the Fender Mustang 1 v1 hard to find or if found what’s the price to try purchasing it for ?
I think musicians Friend still has them for about 139.
For me it's the LT50 and the day Vox releases a new amp, I would test the Vox sound!
what about the boss katana?
To bad fender fuse is not working
how do i update the lt25 firmware? i dont understand...... please help.
support.fender.com/hc/en-us/articles/360025190971-How-do-I-update-the-Firmware-on-the-Mustang-LT-amplifier-
200 Presets now??? Gotta go update I guess...
I quoted wrongly - It's 160 preset/patches now.
@@tonyleeglenn So the 100 factory sounds from the recent firmware are still the newest. Phew. I just went through everything last week and narrowed down to the 30 I like 🎸
Could you play the amp 1 for an outside gig
I think you could but you’d have to mic it. The sounds are certainly good enough.
@@tonyleeglenn is this a 15
@@tonyleeglenn is this similar to the champion 40
@@Tres21 No what it is is actually a very early modeling amp. It’s been around for a long time. It’s sounds hold up really well though. It’s programmable and you can save a lot of patches. The champion is a little more hands-on but really sounds great. I think it’s a fantastic camp as well. If you’re going to use a paddleboard it might be better to go with the champion. If you’re more into recording and getting a wide variety of sounds you really might like the mustang one though.
@@tonyleeglenn I’m playing a gig and I usually play acoustic. But I have tele style guitar I love and wanted to try it but I need some very clean tones that I love.
Nice review. Anybody tell you look a little like Brian Wilson.
First time I’ve heard that one. Very cool though. Wish I could write music like him.
is the fender fuse software still working
1 yr too late 😃 But apparently the Remuda app can be used as a replacement
200 presets for the lt25 ? how do I get that ?
It's actually 160 presets/patches now. Sorry I got that bit wrong in the video.
I thought I missed something :)
Enjoy your videos. thanks to you I ordered an LT25 yesterday ( 2 week delivery) - this is tone I am chasing: ruclips.net/video/okrvOAUg-yY/видео.html
That tele sounds pretty monster. I'll see if I can come up with something like that. Actually sounds kind of like a really overdriven champ - I could be wrong though. Not what you usually expect from Springsteen.
