Inconsistencies always divides fans about what is true and what is bad writing. When Jack was at Marvel he wanted to do a story where he would have killed off Thor and the Asgardians and replaced them with new gods. but Marvel said no so he went to DC and created the New Gods(it's strongly implied they are the successors to the Asgardians), unfortunately DC wouldn't let him finish the story of the New Gods the way he wanted to, so he went back to Marvel where he created The Eternals, but Marvel wouldn't let him end the story of the Eternals the way he wanted to either. The difference being that DC will actually use the New Gods quite frequently, while the last Eternals comic was in 2009.
This character broke the mold in my opinion. He's arguably the greatest villain ever created. I mean for shit's sake, the guy commands a living planet he turned into a predatory weapon! His home base of power is basically the love-child of Hell and the Deathstar. That is supremely cool! I'd like to see Darkseid go back to his earliest incarnations of using the Source- the energy that composes everything in existence to control all matter & energy, similar to the way the Jedi use the Force. That's essentially who he is, the evil commander of the Source; whereas Highfather is the benevolent commander of the Source.
People, what about doomsday I mean every time someone kills him he becomes immune to the way he was killed after regeneration. So if this guy killed him he would just become immune to how he killed him becoming even stronger

When I first read about Darkseid, I thought he was Superman's greatest archrival since only Superman was powerful enough to possibly beat him. At the time, I did not watch Superman II in which Superman faced his archenemies from his home planet. I think that Darkseid is powerful enough to defeat Superman eventually, but on the same token, Superman can also beat Darkseid as well. As for the supervillains from his planet, they are just as powerful as Superman and have his weakness, kryptonite. General Zod and his followers could easily beat Superman if they worked together. It would be interesting if Darkseid and the three supervillains all fought Superman. Doomsday is another of Superman's archenemy, but not as powerful as Darkseid.
in all honesty, if they do a prime 7 JLA movie, meaning "superman, batman, flash, wonder woman, martian manhunter, GL and one of the hawks" or any other league member, doesn't matter, i'm sure darksied will be the main protagonist they consider. that or braniac for sure both of which are pretty much world enders that'd give reason for the group to come together, and take down the bad guy, so if Snyder and his writers get their shit in gear and make batman v superman as epic as all us fans hope it'll be. then it's not too far fetched to think it can happen. they just need to make the other stand alone films measure up is all
All of super man's nemesis need their own iteration of Man of Steel. The directing and editing of that movie was supreme, it even is the closest mark to Superman's actual origins.

(At-least in the original Kirby stories) Darkseid don't want to destroy all life. He simply wants to control it and make it one with himself. Anti-Life isn't death. It only destroys life in that it removes your free will and makes you a puppet of the will/life of another. (In fact Death is another New God who is neutral in the Dakseid VS New Genesis war).
I always think it's interesting how the strongest villains are designed in American comics in comparison to Japan. A lot of the oldschool end-boss villains that usually need a whole bunch of superheroes to take them on are those big, neckless, barrel-shaped guys like Darkseid, Apocalypse or Thanos. All sort of blocky looking and just huge, muscled and menacing-looking. While in Japanese manga I always had this feeling that especially smaller/lither looking villains are the most powerful and dangerous. Of course both comics and mangas have exceptions.

I like to imagine that Darkseid's main motivation is that he's on a sort of suicide quest. He's become so weary of his own eons-spanning life and disappointed in the folly of man/alien with our endless wars and cruelty that he just wants to put himself and the rest of us out of our "misery"

Best Voice I think for Darkseid was Michael Ironside for several reasons. 01. The calm vaneer that he spoke 02, The Tone of his voice. 03. something more menancing about a bad guy that threatens in a quiet voice 04. Michael Ironside always does a very good bad guy.
For me is Dakrseid the best Superman-Villain and the best Villain of all Time, because he is very powerful, sadistic, power hungry, don't give his targets up and he knows no mercy to everyone, even to his own Folk and Family. And Darkseid should be Supermans Archenemy and not Lex Luthor. But Lex is still a good Villain.

I had no idea he showed up on Smallville, I stopped watching after like season 4. I'm a huge fan of Darkseid, I'm hoping once they piece together the DC Cinematic Universe he will be in the second Justice League movie, I'd say the 3rd as a big pay off like Marvel is doing for Thanos, but I'd rather Justice League 3 be a live action version of Flashpoint Paradox.

I like these origin videos on DC characters. I read a lot of Marvel comics and I'm a huge fan of the MCU, but I never read many DC comics. Having these videos helps a lot. Looking forward to the DC movies coming out. Hopefully they take some notes from the Marvel movies, but also have a different take on their heroes and villains. I feel like DC is much more dark. Although the Age of Ultron movie looks very dark as well.

I keep seeing people say Darksied never wins, I think people miss the point. As the physical manifestation of like all evil. I doubt winning is even really a concern to a god like Darkseid it’s more a want then need, unlike other villains who are spared by the League, no matter what he goes on. Some evils win by just existing.
If he wanted a better exit at the end, he should've used the exit Darkseid did at the end of "Father's Day." "THAT is who I am. When Jack was at Marvel he wanted to do a story where he would have killed off Thor and the Asgardians and replaced them with new gods. but Marvel said no so he went to DC and created the New Gods(it's strongly implied they are the successors to the Asgardians), unfortunately DC wouldn't let him finish the story of the New Gods the way he wanted to, so he went back to Marvel where he created The Eternals, but Marvel wouldn't let him end the story of the Eternals the way he wanted to either. The difference being that DC will actually use the New Gods quite frequently, while the last Eternals comic was in 2009.

This character broke the mold in my opinion. He's arguably the greatest villain ever created. I mean for shit's sake, the guy commands a living planet he turned into a predatory weapon! His home base of power is basically the love-child of Hell and the Deathstar. That is supremely cool! I'd like to see Darkseid go back to his earliest incarnations of using the Source- the energy that composes everything in existence to control all matter & energy, similar to the way the Jedi use the Force. That's essentially who he is, the evil commander of the Source; whereas Highfather is the benevolent commander of the Source.
People, what about doomsday I mean every time someone kills him he becomes immune to the way he was killed after regeneration. So if this guy killed him he would just become immune to how he killed him becoming even stronger

When I first read about Darkseid, I thought he was Superman's greatest archrival since only Superman was powerful enough to possibly beat him. At the time, I did not watch Superman II in which Superman faced his archenemies from his home planet. I think that Darkseid is powerful enough to defeat Superman eventually, but on the same token, Superman can also beat Darkseid as well. As for the supervillains from his planet, they are just as powerful as Superman and have his weakness, kryptonite. General Zod and his followers could easily beat Superman if they worked together. It would be interesting if Darkseid and the three supervillains all fought Superman. Doomsday is another of Superman's archenemy, but not as powerful as Darkseid.
I'd rather see a slow build up to Darkseid over many years, through an elaborate takeover of the Justice League, like in Young Justice.

(At-least in the original Kirby stories) Darkseid don't want to destroy all life. He simply wants to control it and make it one with himself. Anti-Life isn't death. It only destroys life in that it removes your free will and makes you a puppet of the will/life of another. (In fact Death is another New God who is neutral in the Dakseid VS New Genesis war).

I always think it's interesting how the strongest villains are designed in American comics in comparison to Japan. A lot of the oldschool end-boss villains that usually need a whole bunch of superheroes to take them on are those big, neckless, barrel-shaped guys like Darkseid, Apocalypse or Thanos. All sort of blocky looking and just huge, muscled and menacing-looking. While in Japanese manga I always had this feeling that especially smaller/lither looking villains are the most powerful and dangerous. Of course both comics and mangas have exceptions.

Best Voice I think for Darkseid was Michael Ironside for several reasons.
01. The calm vaneer that he spoke

Darkseid, only major villain who will break into your house to mock you from your own couch when you come home.
For me is Dakrseid the best Superman-Villain and the best Villain of all Time,
because he is very powerful, sadistic, power hungry, don't give his targets up and he knows no mercy to everyone, even to his own Folk and Family.
And Darkseid should be Supermans Archenemy and not Lex Luthor.

I had no idea he showed up on Smallville, I stopped watching after like season 4. I'm a huge fan of Darkseid, I'm hoping once they piece together the DC Cinematic Universe he will be in the second Justice League movie, I'd say the 3rd as a big pay off like Marvel is doing for Thanos, but I'd rather Justice League 3 be a live action version of Flashpoint Paradox.

I like these origin videos on DC characters. I read a lot of Marvel comics and I'm a huge fan of the MCU, but I never read many DC comics. Having these videos helps a lot. Looking forward to the DC movies coming out. Hopefully they take some notes from the Marvel movies, but also have a different take on their heroes and villains. I feel like DC is much more dark. I keep seeing people say Darksied never wins, I think people miss the point. As the physical manifestation of like all evil. I doubt winning is even really a concern to a god like Darkseid it’s more a want then need, unlike other villains who are spared by the League, no matter what he goes on. Some evils win by just existing.
