Why I pick a poppet over spool. 1. Poppet is less complex, less moving parts. 2. Shot adjustability is so much better. 3. Higher efficiency. 4. Poppets are proven more reliable. 5. Higher rate of fire, if you like being a hooligan, or for fields that allow it. 6. Cheaper than a CS. Madman, I will pew an ego beside you brother. The fact interest is waning in poppets and they are becoming rarer is also a bonus to me. I don't want to have the same marker as everyone else.
Why do I get this feeling that The Madman carries his ego LVR with him wherever he goes along with some pods of paint and randomly fires his gun once every hour no matter where he happens to be at the moment. That's what you call true ego love!
Bruh, this vid makes up for the cake eating debacle. Re earned my sub. Ive had my EGO 1.5 for a few mths 12k thru the marker not a single break, 3 tourneys down and 4 in Oct. I laid down the CS1 and havent picked it back up. EGO is hands down the most dependable marker ive ever owned. Runs like a sewing machine is the way I describe it. Thanks for the vid keep fighting the good fight.
This video has a old school mech guy / perfered spool if electro, even gone against egos for the past decade and always was good competition but I now realize the adjustment capability is what I needed, but you have me saving up for a LV something !after this video. Good job. See ya on the field!
Just got back into paintball for after a 2 year hiatus and bought a lv1.1 pro and I was amazed on how it shot compared to my 08 origin ego from 7 years ago.
Intimidators were incredible markers and still are. I’d take an 05 intimidator over any year ego. That being said the LV egos are incredible markers and really evolved the stacked tube poppet markers. I hope someday the poppet will reign supreme again.
The problem with egos is they last forever so it’s probably hard on sales lol. I’m still running my OG 05 ego and an 06 ego. Even sold my ego11 since it was always in my bag in favour of my OG egos and I wanted the cash towards an LV. Even with my LV1.5 I still find myself reaching for the OG. There’s just something about the 05/06 egos I love. Can’t quite put my finger on it but might be the customization over the years with newer PE regs/bolt/ASA/grips and barrels making them truely unique. Or maybe the insane ROF achievable with QEVs that more efficiently dump air from the rammer. Back in the day when solenoids were readily available I would run mine uncapped FA or ramping and have a blast brutalizing people on the field. Nowadays with limited solenoid parts and supply I feel bad pushing it beyond 15bps :( I also prefer the more rectangular milling vs the swoopy milling that started on the 07 and progressed ever since. It’s not like the original egos were heavy or tall, overall I find the form factor is very similar between all ego platforms. I recently picked up a 06 maniac ego project gun with no noid for 150 bucks. Trying to get it running on an ASCO 51801137 which is the parent of the solenoid ASCO designed for PE back in 04. Or Salvaging the coil half and spool from the 51801136 and putting them on a broken ego noid. The other option I was looking at was an impulse or Timmy noid with 90 degree elbow barbs to replace the manifold and facilitate horizontal mounting vs vertical mount like in Timmy’s. Was also thinking I can make a manifold out of aluminum and a drill press to use other 4way solenoids that have a manifold interface vs m3 threaded barbs to open up the possibility of compatible noids greatly.
It took me 6 months to get my hand on a 1.6. and that was with three different stores all being willing to call me the moment they had them in stock. I don't think the pump is going anywhere.
Believe it or not it's actually a badge from factory! PEV's PB Park had a limited run of custom milled guns, this one is one of them. Nice to see you distinguish it :)
Started in 1998 with a tippmann 98, went to a shoe box shocker, then i rocked shoe boxes for like 10 years. Quit for a while, came back with a macdev droid, then etek 5. The etek was my first poppet, and i fell in love. I still have 2 shoe boxes, I havent played in a while but i'm considering an sl8r, sl94, or an LV variant now. I never tried a bob long marker, im surprised they are still around. I never understood the cult following, maybe ill try one, one day.
What would make more sense? A etek 5 with a oled board and a fl barrel kit which comes out to about $800 or a ego lv1.1 on sale for $850 as a First gun?
no need to ever spend so much money on a full barrel kit. The stock barrels on both guns are proper, despite any anecdotal claims made by anyone. If you are going to spend money in the ballpark of 850, go for the LV, it is the better of option of the two.
Just for that video alone do you get a subscribe. LV platform is a sexy one imo. I had my eyes on a blue shadow one for a bit before I bought a hornet. Good show.
So madman, the reason a old luxe or a vanquish is so smooth is because there is so little force behind the bolt. This is also why these markers were so notoriously bad in the cold. Poppets like the lv1 are known for preforming in the cold. If you slow down the bolt on a lv1, with the bolt stick in the cold, or will in it for some other reason?
The reason the Vanquish (and particularly other balanced shuttle style spool valves) can stick has to do with multiple factors, little force being one of them, yes. But bolt-stick is really a severe case of pneumatic delay (the time it takes for the bolt to start moving after the solenoid has activated) caused by stiction thanks to the heavy o-ring surface area. Plus, the fact that the bolt kit is balanced which means it has no directional bias to aid the the solenoid in pushing the bolt. --These things come in handy when you want to be very precise with the sailing of the bolt, but the trade-off is the greater chance for bolt-stick. So, take a bolt with lots of o-rings tightly securing seals, cold and sticky grease on them (grease acts a little bit like a non Newtonian fluid; especially in the cold) , a bolt balanced on the valve and a sailing action that is controlled by separate inlets and outlets to the main chamber to move it. When it comes to move the bolt to fire, the pressure from the solenoid has to build up from 0 energy; and it cannot always build up enough to break it free from the sticky seals. To counter this, the Vanquish V16 engine makes the system unbalanced (forward bias) and essentially works closer to an LPR-less DM. The Luxe has that lubricated ceramic coat plus the bolt spring to add mechanical forward bias; which defeats the purpose of making the system unbalanced but I digress, lol. A stacked tube poppet (like the Ego) running on a rammer uses the exact same same principle to sail, yes, but there are no valve or can seals adding up o-ring surface area and the few o-rings you do have (there are only two sealing o-rings) are smaller, reducing the accounted for surface area as well. To add to that, these guns use oil. Oil does not really get sticky, it is always slippery, and does not blow out of the barrel because it is in a completely different "tube" than the breech. Now, this does not mean that a stacked tube gun will never stick, it just means that is waaaaay less prone to it and conditions have to be terrible (both the gun's condition and weather) for it to be a problem. In the case of the Ego, the solenoid has a "low" and "high" power setting; it is recommended to use the "high" for cold weather. I know this was a bit of a handful of info, but I hope it got the point across with a very clear picture in regard to what happens in these guns.
Loved the review, especially the different approach to it. Really need your help with something though with a problem I've been having, What's the song used at 8:45? Need to know this so I can get it out of my head lol! But for reals what is it?
Data & Picard by Pogo! Sorry for the late reply, our evil overlords at RUclips held your comment for ransom and I loosened it from its chains just now. Thanks for the positive feedback on the video, enjoy the song!
My lv1 is on the way too me right now :) hopefully next week I will have it and love it :) poppet 4ever love the ego :) Question: is the shaft fr a good choice for my lv1? Got my freak kit at home...
If you've got a freak kit already yeah, it's a solid addition to the setup. In general though I don't think it's enough of a performance benefit to justify the cost of a full kit plus the freak compatible barrel.
Hey man! I’m loving all your videos! But I have a question and I was wondering if you (or anyone here) could help me with this. What is the difference between the LV1, LV1.1 and the LV1.5? I am looking to purchase one(soon hopefully!)
Thanks for the kind words :) here are the differences: LV1.1 - larger LPR volume chamber. It should give you more tuning room. It does make the main body different than the LV1's, all other parts are the same. LV1.5- Body is mostly the same as the 1.1 aside from styling and the feedneck cut. The 1.5 has a different frame and ASA though, they feature a tougher and more secure connection. There's also the Low Profile feedneck and a blade trigger stock.
Benjamin Sperry yes, I do pop the Boss Zero Pin in it from time to time. It makes it impossible for the pin to hit my thumb when I'm holding the gun funny.
it doesn't. The barrel just sits at a different axis and you perceive it more. There's scientific research done on this. The higher the barrel sits, the more noticeable the effect of gravity on the ball is.
Pogo is phenomenal. I stumbled upon some of his music probably close to 10 years ago. His "Alice in Wonderland" and "Up" remixes I think are my favorites.
Lol. Fantastic video bro. Because of your video just upgraded my ego 7 and picked up the LV1.5 Atlantic! Now keep up the fantastically "roaring" editing...... I tried, but your cleverness just exceeds mine.....
This review had me dying man hahaha. Love how unique your videos are. Keep up the great work, our sport needs people like you.
Most entertaining paintball content around, hope you stay safe with all those hurricanes out there

Because Madman does these things you say he does.

COAL TRAIN owned mine since release date, 35k through it and not a single break at all. It never skips a beat. Lvs are amazing.
Love the effort you put into these video's..... Made my morning watching it.... made me smile a lot :-)
Haha! Thank you Ledz, I can say the same for the guns!
Holy shit I laughed so fucking hard at that egosaurus rex ending there. That was hilarious!
Love the LV series. They shoot incredibly well and feel great in the hands!!
Awesome.. Makes me love the lv's more. Still waiting for the next iteration. Stay safe from the hurricanes brotha. And keep making these sweet videos.
This video has a old school mech guy / perfered spool if electro, even gone against egos for the past decade and always was good competition but I now realize the adjustment capability is what I needed, but you have me saving up for a LV something !after this video. Good job. See ya on the field!

The production quality of these videos are amazing. I believe you've got some great imagination man. I had to subscribe.
Master! Master! Master of poppets will be shooting streams!
Hit on your Mask and crushing your dreams! 🤘🏼
Man have always wanted an ego as well. Thanks for the history and what all has changed! Haven’t got to play since NPPL was still around.
Damn i just discovered your posts,i need more man good stuff lol
I remember having lots of fun with the greg hastings paintbal games. I didnt know there were other paintball games.
You should do a video on the WGP Karnivor!
just bought a lv1.6 after your video. i love the gun
Great vid. The next best LV1 review I've found was by Hustle Paintball and that one is showing some age. Excellent use of explosions and reptiles.
the red alert 2 soundtrack made the whole video for me
Glad you are back
Wow man very cool video brings back memories when I held an ego 10 at a paintball shop

As,a,proud owner of both bob long timmies and an lv2..id say that planet took the stacked tube poppet to the highest possible point in uts evolution.
ok. I found your channel a few days ago and have watched a bunch of your other videos, and I gotta say I love your content. keep it coming.
Keep up the work bro! Pretty entertaining and hilarious videos. Definitely like the reviews.
I loved this!!! Beucase of your video I bought a LV1.5 and love that too.
Best reviewer on youtube. Subbed. Keep it up dude.
New paintballer here, these video production is hilarious and great.
Buying one just right now...!!! You killed it...!!!
i dont know what i just watched but i know it was enjoyable lol
I just picked up the lv1.5 love it hands down the best marker out there
It took me 6 months to get my hand on a 1.6. and that was with three different stores all being willing to call me the moment they had them in stock. I don't think the pump is going anywhere.
this was the greatest thing for the pop it gang i have ever seen.
The Nintendo part was of significantly humorous quality 😂👌
Always enjoy your videos brotha (Joshisanalligator from PBN)
glad to see you weren't wiped out by those hurricanes
Yo Planet Eclipse Should Be Paying This Man A Salary!! No Cap!!!! When He Dropped The Sound Bite For The Ego Sound I Lost It!!
We proud few! Band o’ brothers! Love the videos man!
i see that pevs sticker on your old ego. thats sick. thats my local field
Believe it or not it's actually a badge from factory! PEV's PB Park had a limited run of custom milled guns, this one is one of them. Nice to see you distinguish it :)
The Madman oh wow that's what's up man. Great informative and entertaining videos by the way. I watch em all
"But can u describe it"!!! HAHAAA. That was it for me...
Here is my support. Excellent video sir, I enjoy
quality over quantity.
Please come back 😢
I'm hoping pe makes a lv2 by the time it comes out I should have a steady job and buying one the minute it is avaible
Is that a Boss paintball Zero pin bolt? Wasn't seeing the pin in the bolt in some of the footage.
Just bought a 1.6 to help the cause 3 years later
long live LV
I love the Ego series markers. I own 3 LV1.1's!
Where have you been Madman? We all miss you!! I hope everything is well!
Great video. I look forward to the next one.
That made me want an lv for sure lol. I have cs1 and like you have said in a few of your videos it's to smooth of a shot. No feedback from the shot.
Long live the poppet but I'll be a bob long for life was shooting a Timmy before the ego even existed
Started in 1998 with a tippmann 98, went to a shoe box shocker, then i rocked shoe boxes for like 10 years. Quit for a while, came back with a macdev droid, then etek 5. really entertaining video. I can tell this took a long time to make.
You think it’s worth going from an LV1.1 to a 1.5? Or waiting for the lv2 if it ever comes out.
This is the best video on the internet Iv ever seen
Keep it up brother, your video's are Awesome!
I'm still playing with my Ego 7, but I'll buy a Ego Lv1.5 not because my Ego 7 is obsolete, because I can't set up "kick in ramp" to 3 bps.
Oh wow Data and Picard, Pogo.
I love my LVR :>
What's up brotha. Can you do a video going threw the board and the setting giving vid detail.. I learn more threw video than reading the book.

I bust up at your videos there great 👍🏼
how do you get rid of the pin for the bolt and still shoot it
Loved the review, especially the different approach to it.

Please tell me u know LV isn’t an SL because it’s Lever operated!
You are awesome!
would any one recommend buying an lv1.5? i just dont wanna buy a high end gun and end up not liking it
Where can i find that valve tule that you put in the back of the gun (where the rammer goes)
My lv1 is on the way too me right now :) hopefully next week I will have it and love it :) poppet 4ever love the ego :)

The Madman
Thx for the answer :)
Yeah I already got the whole kit I used it for my etek3 and wgp trilly pump gun :)
will you review the LV1.6?
dude you fuckin crack me up 😂, very entertaining review
Absolutely amazing!!!!
How come in some clips it looks like there's no pin in the bolt but the bolt is actually in the gun
That's because it had the Boss Paintball "Zero Pin." I usually put it on for competition.
Hey man! I’m loving all your videos! But I have a question and I was wondering if you (or anyone here) could help me with this. What is the difference between the LV1, LV1.1 and the LV1.5? I am looking to purchase one(soon hopefully!)

The Madman awesome man! Thank you so much for your knowledge! Looking forward to watching some more of your videos man! I really enjoy them!
Got my empire halo too today
Lv 1.5 WILL NEVER DIE
Ok so what did you do with bolt pin I noticed that some of your clips on here the top part is missing ???
Benjamin Sperry yes, I do pop the Boss Zero Pin in it from time to time. It makes it impossible for the pin to hit my thumb when I'm holding the gun funny.
The Madman could you direct me to the site where I can get one
Why does the ball curve down on my friends etek 5?
it doesn't. The barrel just sits at a different axis and you perceive it more. There's scientific research done on this. The higher the barrel sits, the more noticeable the effect of gravity on the ball is.
Oh thanks madman your the best !
Is the ego 11 good ?
Yes, its still a great marker
I have one and it’s never let me down very good marker
Name you 2 fav poppet valve markers mine is the lv1 and the mini(yes the mini is a poppet)

Gee golly!! Now that’s a willy whopper for ya!
idk man that ego 10 was shooting pretty good. that 20mm cannon before tho....
Also, was that a remix by Pogo I heard?
Aye, good sir. Pogo it is!
Pogo is phenomenal. I stumbled upon some of his music probably close to 10 years ago. His "Alice in Wonderland" and "Up" remixes I think are my favorites.
The end was perfect!!!
Quick question what psi should I have my axe 2.0?
joshua naranjo 180-200
What happen man you completely forgot about your channel
That was spectacular
I loved the Shakespeare ay the end.

I want an ego bad but they are just too expensive for me.
That was awesome! 👍🏾👍🏾
I’m getting one.
The load times on that nppl game were abysmal lol but I played the crap out of it
Great video
Titanic price tag that would SINK the waning interest... oh man I'm clever.
The Madman lol commenting on your own video.
And now I'm commenting on your comment commenting on my comment on my video. Spiffing.
Lol. Fantastic video bro. Because of your video just upgraded my ego 7 and picked up the LV1.5 Atlantic! Now keep up the fantastically "roaring" editing......
I tried, but your cleverness just exceeds mine.....
The Madman at 3:01 where da bolt pin
