Don't you just hate it when that happens, LOL? It's pretty neat; I'd love to see a street rod done on this mold... one of the cooler beetle models I've ever seen. Thanks for watching!
Hotwheels Elite did a great job with that Herbie. I have the Herbie Goes To Monte Carlo and I am very pleased with the amount of detail they put into it. I would love to see them do a Herbie Goes Bananas version as well.
One detail that you missed that i really make me love this sweet herbie diecast is that the spare was cracked las an homage to the scene in the lovebug movie where the spare was split like a pizza.
Not a bad thing, LOL! Herbie is cool - as are worked VeeDubs (I owned one, and I'd love to do it again). It's a really well-done model. Thanks for watching!
Phew...Over time is sucking up my free time. Falling behind my HMM videos. I am seriously impressed with this car as indeed it shows HW elite is stepping it up. I would like to think that these days technology is allowing companies to do more detailed cars because it is advanced and becoming less costly to use as it is more readily available. Ether or this car sure does show the awesome direction these guys are going... Im in . Awesome pick for this review bud. Always cool to see new stuff in detail to really bring home the hobbies latest and greatest.
Thanks to this video, I was sold on the model... Great vid! Saw this video yesterday, and I ended up getting it earlier today at a steal. Really love it! It looks amazing in person and they got the off white color done right. Chromed bumpers along with the amazing interior! The definitive 1/18 Herbie Love Bug right here! It looks really vintage on my shelf and I placed it right beside my Hot Wheels Elite 1/18 KITT car! The only thing Hot Wheels didn't include was to have the car split in half like it did in the movie during the race...LOL!
My pleasure! It's really cool - and as you can see from some of the Herbie fans that have posted, they (HWE) got even more stuff "right" that I didn't even know about! Very cool... that's what I love about this hobby - you're never at a loss for things to learn!
Joe, I'm glad you liked this Herbie, and noticed the molded in detail underneath the trunk. It's also on the inside of the roof and engine hood, too. The grooved lines in the spare are a movie reference, as is the roll bar, three sets of seat belts, and grey interior (this was done to dull down the lighting when filming).
That is REALLY impressive. About the ONLY thing the Johnny Lightning version has over this was real exterior door hinges with pins like the full sized car has.
I love this, and I'm a big fan of the Love bug. He is one of my childhood heroes and I've always had respect towards VW since seeing his movies... but I just can't find that right model of the love bug. Although this representation is PERFECT. it's too good that it's beyond my price range of spare spending money. I can't find a model of him that's fairly descent, but not so well done, that it's out of my price range. I'd love to get this, but it's a bit extravagant.
J.D. Kelly I always felt that Hotwheels is expensive but totally worth our money its better to expend some money in a high quality model then expend in a low quality model for a cheap price...
I know the model is quiet old but could you do a review of the Norev 1975 Porsche 911 turbo? If you don't have it that's fine. Keep up the good videos!
I love Herbie! And I love all 1958-1963 VW bugs and sunroof bugs with the deluxe style two-tiered bumpers (like Herbie has).Having said that, please don't think I'm being overly negative, but at 2:05, You say that "anything less than perfection would be a shame". Your 1:18 scale model there is the best I've seen yet, but it is not perfect. 1… Wing windows are not right. 2… Bottom edge of license plate light is not even with the plane of the ground. 3… Grooves on rear deck lid do not flare out to either side of license plate light. What I mean by perfection is that the scale model that I would pay good money for would have to look like a real 1958-1963 bug or sunroof bug (does not have to be a Herbie) that went through a shrinking machine. Those FORZA videos showing CGI imaging of Herbie show what I am talking about. Perhaps they need to make bigger scale models in order to get true authenticity. Years ago I saw a giant 1965 Cadillac scale model that was about 2 feet long. On that scale, I think they can get a lot better authenticity. They need to use CGI imaging/CAD to design such a model. I would pay hundreds of dollars if they reproduce a PERFECT(On the outside, inside not so particular) 1958-1963 VW bug or sunroof bug (not including convertibles). Back in the day, I owned four early 1960s VW bugs. One was a white 1962 sunroof bug that I made into a Herbie and showed it off at vintage VW meets during the 1980s.
Noo! Why did I have to view this? Now I can't sleep... I WANT THIS!
Don't you just hate it when that happens, LOL? It's pretty neat; I'd love to see a street rod done on this mold... one of the cooler beetle models I've ever seen. Thanks for watching!
Herbie is my entire childhood

I loved Herbie as a kid. It’s still cool to see bugs decked out like herbie to this day
The classic VW bugs/beetles have been my favorite car. Just something about them.
I have that Herbie model and I love it as well as all the movies of Herbie
i really like the indention's that hot wheels did for the spare tire making it look like herbie's pizza
I love old Beetles and this is model is a looker! Thanks for showing us, Joe!
My pleasure, Justin. I'd LOVE to see them do some street beetles off this mold set, too.... Lots of possibilities with a detail level this deep!
Joe Kelly, Jr. The split window type would be on my wish list! :)
J.D. Kelly Hey J.D. love your videos was wondering when your going to make more?
My life is full of Herbie lol. Great details in the graphics ... especially the gumballs
Not a bad thing, LOL! Herbie is cool - as are worked VeeDubs (I owned one, and I'd love to do it again). It's a really well-done model. Thanks for watching!

I loved the gas can and the stripes, very nice model by hot wheels. thanks for showing Joe.

Goodbye, legend.
I'd love to have this in my collection even though I have the rare 1:18 Johnny Lightning version but this one is even better!
Hi Joe,
Thanks for this really good review of this cool and lovely model.
Cheers
Hello, there -
My pleasure! Thanks for watching - this was a fun one to review!
Joe, I'm glad you liked this Herbie, and noticed the molded in detail underneath the trunk. It's also on the inside of the roof and engine hood, too. Oh yeah..i love Herbies...and its a mind blowing detailing Hot Wheels done there. I agree the engines look great.
They've done a great job - I'm impressed, LOL! Thanks for watching!

I was really surprised at just how deeply detailed this one is - very cool! Thanks for watching!
Are you going to review the Monte Carlo Herbie?
I love this thing herbie is cool my son wants 1 of these

They've done a really good job... looks really cool on the shelf, even among high-detail models... thanks for watching!
I love your awesome models
Thanks, man! I'm having a lot of fun with all of this - hope you're enjoying it. Thanks for watching!

WOW,,one super model!!!
Please come back
It’s been another year he isn’t coming!
awesome video!
It has great detail, but the color doesn't seem right. Mine seems more gray than pearl white.
i found him on Ebay, might go to a hobbie shop near me as well there's a goes banana's version there to.
I notice the spare tire appears to be sliced up like a pizza, as it was in the first movie.
Marvin Jenkins Ikr I love it
AAHAHH THATS SO COOL
I really want to find herbie he's my favorite
nice video love the car but was the spare wheel/rim cracked?
Kind of In the movie The Love Bug the tire got cut into slices
I know the model is quiet old but could you do a review of the Norev 1975 Porsche 911 turbo? If you don't have it that's fine. Keep up the good videos!
Hi, Josh - I'm sorry, but I haven't got one of those - but if I can ever get some Norev in, I will! Thanks for watching!
Got one in Dec. of 2017. I didn't read the bio completely and didn't get the elite one. no trunk, engine, gas tank, or seat belts. Oh well...
I love herbie the love bug
It's cool - I love it, too! Thanks for watching!
I for one would like to see Hot Wheels Elite do the street racer version of Herbie.
NO
Josh Silverstein Why not?
Kevin Figueroa they should do all the other movies first and then fully loaded
+ponies and stuff Yeah you're right.
Is this one any different than the Monte Carlo version?
I order one of this
i saw there are two types of hot wheels love bug herbie on ebay..whats the diffrence of it?
