It's been a little while since I watched one of your videos but honestly Norman, it's just a joy to watch you. You are the master at teaching and clearly explaining and demonstrating all things knitting. Just want to thank you so much for all that you do for all us knitters. You're a marvel! 🙏☺
This is really good Norman. I have been looking for some help with this type of knitting and once again you have come up with a super helpful podcast. Thank you for your generous sharing.
Thanks so much, Norman! You went above and beyond as usual with so many tips, recommendations, and reasons for doing something. This enables us to have enough knowledge to make decisions on our own.
Another great video!! I love mosaic knitting, but would have done the multiple slips and wondered what was going on prior to seeing this video. The idea of combining mosaic and faire isle is a great one too! Thanks!!!
Hi Norman! I love your videos & recommend them to everyone who says they're interested in learning more about knitting! I would love to see a more in depth video about yarn :) I love 'How to choose the right yarn for knitting' and your site resources about this. Another video about yarn materials/spinning techniques and other things you touched on would be very helpful for me! Or going into different properties of individual protein-based fibers/plant based fibers. Maybe listing your favorites for different types or more visual / swatch examples too! :)
As always you take things up a notch or two or five!! Thanks for this…you’ve given me a reason to Play w colors & stitches! You’re design/play excitement shows here!
This is absolutely great. I watched it all, to see the techniques. Its beautiful I will have to watch in slower speed and knit along in order to learn it. Just like some people like patterns with cables, I do like patterns with Slipped stitches. Thank you much!
Was great timing for me. I just started knitting my first slip stitch/semi mosaic that I came up with for 3 colours in the round. Useful tips and crystal clear like always. As a fanatic beginner I have learned so much from your videos. Thank you!
Mosaic is my Favorite kind of knitting I love that you use one color at a time so it’s not as confusing! Thank You so much, I have the book you’ve referenced and it’s a fantastic source for learning
Norman: you are definitely THE BEST! I so do appreciate your detailed explanations, with all possibilities. Bravo, bravo bravo! I want to thank you , because you taught me so much , and I am grateful for all of your video.
I have recently caught myself reading a chart left to right on RS rows and right to left on WS rows... BUT I never turned my work 😮 instead I 'knit backwards' 😮 I do like your idea of the slotted paper as a guide! I'm watching you explain the chart and I'm thinking that guide would be perfect to act as a note holder for yarn colors vs chart. For example: Black chart is Red yarn, White chart is Blue yarn. Then thinking that slotted guide would be wonderful in lace charts as well! Note on the slotted guide what the stitch symbols are as a quick ref. 😊 (I'd be 1st to admit my guilty plea on this) As for the book... I have the same book, plus the yellow and red one that go with 😊 Until now, I was too intimidated to pick them back up again as they didn't make sense enough to follow along. I guess your "plain as day" simplicity helped make the book info "click on" cause I was mentally recalling some sections I had previously stumbled with. Thank you! Have a great day as well, happy knitting!
Hello, thanks for your videos. Today is all about sustainability and avoiding waste. Could you make a video about left over yarns? What can we do with them? Greets from Munich
Thanks for the fabulous explanations, as always. I have a question about the chart, though. On the chart, rows 1/2 are in one colour and 3/4 are in the other. I would read this to mean that I should do a full "round" in each colour before hitting the pattern. But I'm not seeing that in your pieces. I'm not sure if I'm interpreting the chart incorrectly or just not seeing it 🤷 I tend to enjoy single colour knits, but for the first time I'm actually interested in trying mosaic, so extra thanks for that!
hi norman! an excellent and helpful tutorial as always. thank you very much. ❤ i haven't tried mosaic knitting before, would love to give it a try! i have a question - do i understand it correctly that (for every other row) the result is the same as knitting fair isle but the technique is different? i was thinking of knitting flat 2-colour stockinet with holding both colours on the right side and using mosaic for the wrong side (purling with first one and then the other colour). if so, i'd only have to make sure not to mix up the dominant colour. i'm a fairly new knitter and i trust to keep tension this way rather than purling fair isle. 😄
@@NimbleNeedles thank you, norman. i really appreciate that you not only film these amazing tutorials but also answer the (most probably) dumb question of newbies like me. i am also appreciative of the people who are able to join your patreon and do so. it took a village for me to learn how to knit quite well as quickly as i did. and that village consists of you all. ♥
You are awesome! Quick question: Do you find any difference in the mm size from the circular to the single pointed needles? I have a Clover 9mm circular and the Clover 9mm single point and the straight needle is thicker like maybe 9.25mm. What is your experience? Thanks.
@@NimbleNeedles Thanks and thanks for the tip on making a cut out to follow the pattern. I am afraid I will have to figure out how to modify the pattern somehow as I have already knitted about 1/3 of the sweater back and front and don’t really want to start all over. This should be quite a challenge, but I will try to knit a sample first.
I bought, what I thought, were plastic containers, iris, like yours. Unfortunately I don’t think they are, they not say water proof…..and don’t have the black seal on the side. Can you tell me more about them, yours…thank you.😢😢
I normally fine your tutorials very clear but I made several attempts and gave up Too fast for me. Ive knit sweaters, socks, cables but i am lost Sorry

Backwards knitting can be fun for simple patterns, yes 😎
Thank you for a great tutorial. I could never "get" or " wrap" my brain around for the wraps.

Oh wow. Thank you! ❤️
finally, a video tutorial to mosaic knitting!
Thank you for your comprehensive video!💜
Thank you thank you thank you 🥰
Thank you Norman. your knitting tecknick is so helpfull to me
Thank you! This is a great video - both well made and very informative!! I can’t wait to try it, maybe make a decorative pillow or something…
22:33 for this procedure there is an application (free)"knit companion". I always use it for jacquard or mosaic.
Thank you so much, Norman!
Amazing video can't wait to use this in my projects and also could you make a video on knitting a sweater

Hmm...illegal pit it on my list but no promises
Thank you for the tutorial 😊
Thank you for great tutorial

Excellent tutorial! I especially love the three color mosaic tutorial. Have you done any fair isle tutorials?
Sure, just use the search function
Thanks!
My pleasure!
Great video. I want a knitting thimble.
Heh. They sure come in handy!
Thank you..
My pleasure 🥰
Thank you sir ❤
Can you do mosaic in the round ? I have enjoyed developing my knitting skills from your videos thank you
Sure. Tho, if you want to keep it in garter stitch you have to switch between knit and purl rounds. But that's about it!
Amazing!

Yes, but as I said, the Longtail cast on already creates the first row in the same breath
@@NimbleNeedles You absolutely did! Thank you so much 💜

Yes, you can fake fair isle with mosaic knitting. You cannot, however, replicate all mosaic patterns with fair isle

Sometimes yes..tho I can't tell you if clover is one of them.
Thanks. You are terrific! I appreciate your videos.
Hi, Norman. Would you be so kind as to write out the pattern that begins at 45.11. ?
You can find it in Barbara walkers book, I linked it in the description
@@NimbleNeedles Thank you so much, Norman
is there any recommendation for bind offs for Mosaic Knitting?
Hm..well, not really. But I'd avoid anything stretchy as the fabric isn't either.
If the number of stitches in my. Sweater pattern doesn’t come out right for the mosaic pattern how do I fix this?
you either add increases/cast-on more stitches, or you adapt the chart/design and skip/change part of it.
@@NimbleNeedles Thanks and thanks for the tip on making a cut out to follow the pattern. Sadly it was brought to my attention that iris doesn't add the seal in the U.S...they only sell the sealed boxes in Europe.
I am sorry, yours look great. I saw some that said airtight, but they are not right? Pretty sad. Oh well….
This is knitting flat?
can be done both flat and in the round!
i need a sweater😢😢😢
Comment for the algorithm :P
I normally fine your tutorials very clear but I made several attempts and gave up Too fast for me. Ive knit sweaters, socks, cables but i am lost Sorry
sorry to hear that. but you can always slow down any video via the settings button.
If you wanted to, you could work this nonsense stitch into a nifty bookmark with two colors of bedspread cotton.
The trick with yarn over is amazing. Live and learn. I didn't know this small secret. Pick up.😊
