  • Second ride on the KLX300. Taking my 12 year old son out for a ride. He's on a Kawasaki KLX140R F. Unfortunately I miss judged how hard some of the trails were I took him on.

    Not easy to deal with these ages, but surely worth all the effort. I can relate to this nice video. I am an older beginner rider and my 32 years old son is teaching me how to ride. I think my son is having a hard time with me, but we share time together and that is what is most important imo. Keep your good job!

      Thanks. Hopefully get out more often and he’ll get comfortable. But he did well.

    Good job Dad! I'm in a very similar situation with my 15 year old. Its slow going, and can be challenging, but its worth fighting for...and in my opinion, its what life is truly about and more important than any of the other nonsense that society seems to value. Stay strong brother.

    I have the KLX300DS and my son's ride with me...5yrs old on PW50 and 9yr old on a CRF50 (soon to be a CRF110)....LOVE IT. Just wish we had more places to ride together safely in NJ.

      Yeah I should have got a PW50 for my 6 year old. I got the CRF50 and it’s too much for him. Keep riding together 👍🏻

      Glad to hear! I'll have to be more careful with the trails I choose in the future, didn't plan to take him on such challenging ones. But sometimes it's good to find our limits. Hopefully he grows from it.

    Being a scuba instructor I have had to teach kids of all ages who did NOT want to learn the sport. I feel for both of you haha. Great patience too by the way!

    These trails look sick and that corner is definitely tough for a newer rider. Overall great video!

    Just wanted to comment this because I think you may have missed it, and taking a break/stretching there may have been the best option for his enthusiasm. At around 9:45 he mentions his shoulder hurting and you say its just muscle soreness which is definitely a reasonable assumption. But, if he games a lot or is at a desk a lot, its probably a severe pinching in his shoulder blade area, that is not very easy to ignore. I never had the issue until I started working remote and sitting at a desk with my arms outreached all day. Now anytime on on my motorcycle for longer than 30 minutes I get a terrible pinching in my shoulder and have to massage/stretch it out or it is really painful. Not saying it to critique or anything! Just hopeful you can keep him going with you!

      No problem. I probably just thought he was looking for a way out. So it’s my bad.

    Congratulations on your new dual sport! I’m a new short rider so it was between the KLX 230s and XT 250 but I went with the Yamaha XT and my goal is to also eventually get the KTM 390 😊

    • @makmoto0606

      Very cool, too bad they don’t offer the lower version of the KTM 390 here, which they just released in India. Might really make it more comfortable for shorter riders. However I believe there is a lowering kit for the 390, just means you’re giving up some of that already precious ground clearance. Thanks!

      @LenaScott-numoto1 Год назад

      True on the KTM, I saw that they offer a lower one in India. My husband has a 2022 KTM 390 and I sit on it all the time and practice the ole side step off, one foot on the ground, check off the seat thing, lol, haven’t not worked up the nerve to ride it yet but I figured if these girls my size are riding these full sized BMW like a boss or Jocelyn Snow, I can certainly get this awesome bike mastered without lowering it, haha.

      @@LenaScott-numoto1 true, though surprisingly I think those big BMWs have a lower seat already and can come lower from the showroom.
