And one of the amps featured here is the 'Deacy', a practice amp John Deacon cobbled together from a sub-1 watt radio circuit board salvaged from a trash dumpster. When pushed with a treble booster, and due to fortuitous circumstances (an early circuit design using germanium transistors that also happened to be mismatched, and somewhat undersized transformers that go into magnetic saturation) it creates those unique bell-like tones.

Freddie Mercury was a gift to humanity. You're quite correct, there will never be another Freddie Mercury, and we are the poorer for his death from HIV/AIDS.
Of course, the reason that we're talking about Freddie is in part because Queen was such a killer band (no pun intended) and the songs they crafted stretched the boundaries of rock 'n roll as a genre.
The songs could've been done by a mediocre band with a mediocre frontman...and we'd end up with music that most folks would shrug at. But Freddie wasn't mediocre, Queen wasn't mediocre, and the songs were NEVER mediocre. Thank goodness.

    Lyrics:
    She keeps Moët et Chandon
    In her pretty cabinet
"Let them eat cake," she says
    Just like Marie Antoinette
    A built-in remedy
For Khrushchev and Kennedy (Ooh, ooh)
    At anytime an invitation
    You can't decline (Ooh, ooh)
    Caviar and cigarettes
    Well versed in etiquette
    Extraordinarily nice
    [Chorus]
    She's a Killer Queen
    Gunpowder, gelatin
    Dynamite with a laser beam
    Guaranteed to blow your mind
    (Pa-pa-pa-pa) Anytime
    Ooh
    Recommended at the price
    Insatiable in appetite
    Wanna try?
    [Verse 2]
    To avoid complications
She never kept the same address
    In conversation, she spoke
    Just like a baroness
    Met a man from China
Went down to Geisha Minah (Ooh, ooh)
(Killer, killer, she's a killer Queen)
    Then again incidentally
    If you're that way inclined
    Perfume came naturally
    From Paris (Naturally)
For cars, she couldn't care less
    Fastidious and precise
    [Chorus]
    She's a Killer Queen
    Gunpowder, gelatin
    Dynamite with a laser beam
    Guaranteed to blow your mind
    (Pa-pa-pa-pa)
    Anytime
    [Guitar Solo]
    [Bridge]
Drop of a hat she's as willing as
    Playful as a pussy cat
    (Ooh)
Then momentarily out of action (Ooh)
    Temporarily out of gas (Ta-taaa)
To absolutely drive (Drive you wild, wild)
She's all out to get you
    [Chorus]
    She's a Killer Queen
    Gunpowder, gelatin
Dynamite with a laser beam (Pa-pa-pa-ra)
    Guaranteed to blow your mind
    (Anytime)
    Ooh
    Recommended at the price
    Insatiable in appetite

Marc Bolan and T.Rex influenced Bowie and Queen, along with U.S. glam bands like New York Dolls, KISS, Joan Jett, Alice Cooper, etc. T.Rex gets no credit for this but Marc was the original article of Glam Rock.

And then "Daisy Jane" by America, one of the coolest & sophisticated pop love songs ever... a rock song mixed with an Eric Satie-like classical component, McCartney maj 7th chord structures, lyirical poetry, driving power pop chorus & a lone violin solo break. It's genious.

Fabulous classic! Its been a while! Queen just makes everything better! This song is from their third album, Sheer Heart attack and was what catapulted them into the public eye. The show this video was for "top of the pops" was for all up and coming artists and unfortunately, it was required for the band to mime/lip sync to a playback track. Even the drum symbols were fake. The experience must have been pure torture for them to have to mime and also a major insult to their artistic talent and professional integrity. They actually never played the entire song through when they sang it live, it was always part of a medley. They didn't sing it at live aid, but they sang it live at Montreal 1981, which went into "I'm in love with my car". While his stage presence was very dramatic or theatrical, he never pursued acting, he didn't have the patience for it.
