It isn't. The song is written by bassplayer John Deacon, who was getting fed up with Brians compulsory guitar solo, so he put in a keyboard solo. The cross-dressing in I want to break free, a mere four years later, was a bit much for the prudish Americans, which caused a downfall for Queens popularity in the States.

That lead piece is played on a Oberheim OB-X synthesizer - a beast of a machine and on a lot of rock & pop songs of the early 80s. Brian May plays the lead on his guitar on live gigs.
The weird sound they used is a called a synthesizer. It is an electronic keyboard that can generate all sorts of different sounds by changing the effects.

David Bowie's cover of 'The Man Who Sold The World' also showed a beautiful David in a dress. A dress he wore out and about and inside his home apparently.
Jamel This song was written by the bassist John Decon one of the many hit the he wrote. The sound that had you baffled was Brian May's guitar pushed through a mix of compresion, overdrive, distortion, sustain and a small amount of echo effect pedals
@Gavin Holt - From what I’ve read, John Deacon, who wrote the song, is the one who was getting tired of the compulsory guitar solo for Brian May, and wanted something different. A session musician whom the band knew, Fred Mandel, played a synth solo on the record. What John might’ve felt was ironic is that for live performances, Brian played guitar during the synth solo part of the song.

He should also check out the extended version of the music video for "One Vision"
* Princes* but yeah,
@@karlsmith2570 Gimme fried chicken!!!!
"What is that?" - that's Brian May's guitar run through a cool effects processor :-)
The weird sound they used is a called a synthesizer. It is an electronic keyboard that can generate all sorts of different sounds by changing the effects.
It took the whole Royal Ballet to make up for Freddie's missing mustache!
He is not dressed as a cow. Im guessing Pan from greek mythology.
Yep, that sounds about right. Pan. Not sure how he got cow from that. But that's ok
I believe he was dressed as a Faun rather than Pan but yeah, that was the idea…
Yeah pans a goat aka pans labrytinth
My first exposure to Queen was the Highlander movie when I was kid. Highlander won the Oscar for greatest movie ever.
It certainly did not win anything - the critics gave bad reviews all over - but many others - myself included - liked it.
Crazy thing Queen didn't break through to America until 1985 at Live Aid to become iconic, but in the seventies I was buying their albums as a teen in the late seventies, I still love this band
Luv this band’s theatrics. Oh and their music’s not too shabby either😜🤩Queen forever👌
The moment my iPad fell off the stand I said “oooops” you said “ummm” (0:42) 😂
Jamal: They got brother Freddie dressed up like a cow
My Brain: I Want To Break Fresian 😁😆
Brits are notorious "cross dressers" check out monty python. nearly every "woman" on the show was one of the pythons in drag.
Spot on David. It's intrinsically part of the British DNA!
David Bowie's cover of 'The Man Who Sold The World' also showed a beautiful David in a dress. A dress he wore out and about and inside his home apparently.
Don't forget the Christmas "Panto" performances.
The Lumberjack Song!!!
Eddie Izzard
Jamel This song was written by the bassist John Decon one of the many hit the he wrote. The sound that had you baffled was Brian May's guitar pushed through a mix of compresion, overdrive, distortion, sustain and a small amount of echo effect pedals
Written by the most underrated member of the band John Deacon
You have got to do Queen " Innuendo"
It's Bohemian Rhapsody 2.0
For me The March of the Black Queen is Bohemian Rhapsody 2.0, even when it came out before it
The Specials 'Ghost Town' please!
Oh hell yeah, thinking Jamal will dig ska
The Selecter tooooooo
Freddie was known for his showmanship and humour and artistic flair when it came to his videos 👏
Damn Freddie had some sass, I love this song!
Please do his final song The Show Must Go On!
Thought mother love was the last one with Freddies vocals.
Check out "It's Late". A way underrated Queen song.
Yes this one. Great tune
How about 'Fight from the Inside'? Another majestic deep cut, but man, there are so many Queen gems that people simply don't know about!
I keep asking reactors to do it, but very few actually do. It’s my favourite by Queen.
@@irenedownie6559 Mine too...i keep asking also...with the same result. They have no idea what they are passing on. Such a great song.
Dave Wilson I know!!!!
I think I’ve seen your name several times in comments about this. Fingers crossed Jamal will do it. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
Wow. I've listened to this song for years, and I've never seen the music video before. Definitely adds a new element.
That's just beautiful Freddie being himself
Interesting fact the solo is done on keyboards. Roger Taylor wanted something different for the middle rather than another guitar solo.
lol it sounds just like a guitar solo thru an effect box.
Yeah, although it was played on guitar by Brian and ocationaly on guitar and synth when played live…
@@ellab8897 oh yes I saw a docu where Roger was talking about it and how John wanted it different. Thanks for that.😀👍
Good Morning....
Check out the Faces, "STAY WITH ME".....
I’m always here for more Queen.
I remember watching this on MTV. I still love this one today! 💕💕
think 'Pan" ~ Greek God
Pan mixed with Dionysus
You want a rockin' Queen song?? Check out Dead On Time or Death On Two Legs.
Or" Waiting for the hammer to fall" 😉
Also Great King Rat, Stone Cold Crazy, or Headlong. All great rockin' Queen songs!
My grandparents had the same hoover. Brilliant laugh from Queen with this one. Quintessential British humour revolving around Coronation Street, a popular TV soap which has been running since the 60's. Great song hehehe.
The bass player John Deacon wrote this song and many others including Another one bites the dust
I wish somebody would react to Brian May singing 39 and then George Michael singing 39 at the Freddie Mercury tribute concert it's a short little song but I like it and I love both versions and also I want it all by Queen
I didn't know George Michael did a version of '39. That's my favorite song from A Night At The Opera. I am going to have to check that out.
@@jameskirschling7887 yes on the Freddie Mercury tribute concert it's pretty cool he also did somebody to love that concert has many great songs and acts David Bowie and Annie Lennox Def Leppard Metallica Guns and Roses Elton John
@@tgranny3547 I just watched both videos of George Michael at the tribute concert and he did a fantastic job. It's too bad George passed away, he would have been a great addition to Queen instead of Adam Lambert. You can't beat Freddie Mercury, I was lucky enough to see him live but if Queen toured with George Michael I would go to that concert
I'm glad you enjoyed them I wish I would have been able to see Freddie Mercury and queen live I'm still waiting for a time machine but hey you got to check out those other ones I told you about on that same concert they're really good one of my favorite part was when Joe Elliott and queen do you Tie Your Mother Down and another favorite part is when Metallica's James Hetfield does Stone Cold crazy with Queen oh and I like to watch Rodger Daltrey and queen do I want it all
@@tgranny3547 I will watch the rest eventually. I just got home from a long day at work and I am winding down before I go to bed. The songs you recommended are some of my favorite Queen songs so I am definitely interested in seeing them.
For kicks and giggles, would be funny to follow this one up with Tim Curry's "Sweet Transvestite" ("From tran-sexual Transylvania!") from ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW...
👌👄
Absolutely as we roll into the spooky season!
It was based on a British soap Opera, the other parts, are when Freddie was in a ballot show, He is so super talented.
I never saw the video version before. Thank you.
Let the music play.
Fun fact: This music video got banned from MTV (in America at least) because of the cross-dressing.
MTV was so lame!
How the times have changed!!
Thank you, thank you thank you thank you for doing my favorite Queen song!
QUEEN´S BEST GUITAR SOLO EVER !!!!
You should react to All Dead, All Dead also by Queen
React to The Brother Johnson "Stomp" is one those good old funky song
Queen - the show must go on
the song that got banned by MTV and was written by the bass player John Deacon.
Jamal, please react to "Iron Sky" by Paolo Nuitini.
No - Pencil full of Lead Jools Holland first ? Please?
I'd love to see your reaction to Bad Lip Reading's Seagull Song.
Hahaha yes!
I love the stuff you're diggin' right now with Queen and Bowie. Getting the real 70's flavor there!
NO NO NO This Was Perfect to be "" SURPRISED "" !!!!!!
Went top 10 in the likes of Australia,France, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Germany but only
made it as high as 45 in the US.
The official video was just to much for the US back in the
day and gained very little play time on the likes of MTV.
Too much?
@@debbiewilliamson3652 yes, the video was banned from airing on MTV in the US because of the crossdressing
@@maxis5650 I think her comment may have been posted as she is a member of the grammar police, the boring little tits never sleep.
Please react to WAITING FOR A STAR TO FALL from Boy meets Girl !
The live version of this song will BLOW OUT ur mind.
The Prophet Song...I grew up to that song. And as a choir girl... I’m all about the round!
Roger Taylor makes a very attractive transvestite, it almost confused me as a kid. Can you believe Roger is now 71 (in 2020)
Heaven by The Rolling Stones, Carry On by Crosby, Stills Nash& Young and I Found Her in A Star by The Guess Who & Undun by The Guess Who!!!!!
The visuals for Queen's "It's A Hard Life" video are stunning! Once and again every member of the band is in character with flamboyant costumes...especially Freddie! The music and lyrics, wonderful! It's a great option to react to as well
The ballet segue is based on the 1912 classic piece of Nijinsky, "The Afternoon of a Faun"; Freddie plays the title role here of course :)
That moment of bliss when the harmonized guitars enter, establishing the band's sound. Despite their sonic adventures, they always have a moment to bring it all back home.
It's that Queen sound!
This is one of my favourite Queen videos.
During the concert for life for Freddie in 1992 Lisa Stansfield dressed as Freddie in this video when she came out on stage and did this song
Song was written by John Deacon the bassist.
