Glad you liked this...Freddie’s vocal range is insane...when he runs his fingers up the fret on the bass 😁...just to say when this recording was made, Freddie was 28, Brian was 27, Roger was 25 and their baby, John was 23...looking at their age range they were a family of brothers..Queen forever🤩

That was the Queen song played at Freddie’s funeral. Also a hymn by Aretha Franklin and a live performance by his opera diva partner Monserrat Caballe (they performed together on album Barcelona - rock and opera beautifully) who sang his favorite Verdi opera song.

@Deacon John It was regarding advanced orders being counted as the previous week's sales (I think, I'm trying to recall some rather old memories here). I'll see if I can find a link... it was in a book I read back in the 90s too.

Queen was a band i grew up listening to, back then i knew their music was fantastic, but back then we were so spoilt for choice when it came to great new music in the charts. But the older i get, the more i appreciate just how good their music really was. For me it is just great to see someone of your age enjoying it so much, and hopefully spreading the word of just how great some of those old bands were. Sadly these days it seems that new bands with with great talents are never given the air time they deserve - yes, I am sure there are plenty of new bands fighting for a chance out there, but you would never know it listening to the charts these days. I am glad I grew up in the 70's were we always had such a great variety of music in the charts each week.

Brian May is a brilliant guitarist. Have you seen him play 'God Save The Queen' ?
It was at the start of 'The Party At The Palace' to mark the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II.
An international celebration held in 2002 marking the 50th anniversary of the accession of Queen Elizabeth II to the throne. The concert began with Brian May performing "God Save the Queen" on the roof of Buckingham Palace as a guitar solo with support from the orchestra onstage featuring Roger Taylor (Queen's drummer) on stage with the orchestra. ruclips.net/video/AKX0pGU70_I/видео.html

So much I could say. Brian May making is guitar sing, incredible backing vocals, complex lyrics yet playful lyrics, and, of course, Freddie’s vocals. So pure that they occasionally cut through me like a knife. Have told an opera singer that his voice was as stunning as Freddie Mercuy’s. Hope he was not offended. What I really love is that you have found Queen and are getting as much joy as I have had all these years. Keep up making this amazing channel always makes me feel good. THE RED SPECIAL
The Red Special is the electric guitar designed and built by Queen's guitarist Brian May and his father, Harold, when Brian was a teenager in the early 1960s.
Brian’s father Harold was an electrical engineer and a hacker of sorts. He built the family’s radio, TV, and even furniture around the house. Harold proposed the two build a new electric guitar from scratch as a father-son project. This was the beginning of a two-year odyssey that resulted in the creation of one of the world’s most famous musical instruments.
In celebration of the instrument's 50th anniversary, a book about its construction and history, Brian May’s Red Special: The Story of the Home-Made Guitar that Rocked Queen and the World, was written by Brian May with Simon Bradley.

Queen in their earlier year didn't have a good record deal contract and by the time they got to their third album they started to realise that they were being robbed and that their manager was getting most of their money.. firstly think of it like this you may drop some subscribers but different content will open the algorithm to new subscribers so overall it should increase. remember this isnt the first switch up you have done, and each time you have gained, even from just 4 years ago.
Queen are one of those bands which work because of the way the band cooperated on a musical level. There are other bands which have achieved this also, so they are not alone though there is so much out there that its not possible to find everything. Something notable is that outside of the music the stress of writing and composing and the push of fame and pressure to create and to surpass the last piece is what usually leads artists and groups to implode or explode. The only way that groups survive is by finding a way to cope and share the stress between each other. the best artists usually have one album that nearly broke them or in some cases did.

Joel, Marie Antoinette, as you may know, was Austrian (daughter of Empress Maria Teresa, who married off her brood all over Europe for strategic reasons), and we're famous for our cakes and patisseries. So Freddie's lyrics (Let them eat cake, she said) are on point and ironic. Freddie was a very cultured and respectful person. Whenever he was in Vienna he used to buy up art nouveau artefacts for his house Garden Lodge in London. Freddie had a penchant for Austria. DoRo production (Rudi Donezal and Hannes Rossacher) were Austrian film producers involved in Queen productions during Freddie's latter days. And Reinhold Mack ('almost' Austrian from Munich) was also the producer for major Queen songs. You strike me as someone who might be interested in such Queen titbits. I too love how today's youth is falling for Queen. I wish I had been this discerning in my younger days. Unfortunately they didn't capture my special attention then, and I only became a super fan after the movie BoRap. A blessing in a way since Freddie and Queen now enrich my live immensely.

Love the new brainy specs, son - looking good! I'm so glad you're enjoying Queen - I grew up with three bands - Queen, ELO, and KISS - bit of a mix, I know... But they all produced highly polished studio albums that resonated with me on many levels - ELO most of all; the writing, the vocals, and the ability to play almost any instrument by ear, launched the ELO maestro, Jeff Lynne, to the top tier for me - his music has been the soundtrack of my life. If you ever review it, I hope you like it, if not, then "c'est la vie"... Anyway, be safe, son - you, and your friends (Will, Mac and Cam). :)

This song is yet another precision masterpiece by the King of Queen. A little trivia about Ms Antoinette. Her Misquoted , or misinterpreted (Famous Line) came about when she was being briefed (allegedly) on the condition of the peasantry in the kingdom. When she was told that the common folk were starving she allegedly said " Let Them Eat Cake" . But many do not know that the "Cake" she spoke of was not a food item.Though I suppose that would be fitting and cruel also .
The "Cake" she referred to was MUD. Specifically Dried Mud, which was commonly referred to as " CAKE" .

Killer Queen was the first top 40 hit by Queen in the USA back in 1974. It peaked around #12. The album it's from is GREAT!

This is the first Queen song I ever heard, back when I was 15 years old. Such, eloquent, intelligent lyrics. I’ve loved them ever since. After Killer Queen came White Queen (Live at The Odeon Hammersmith 1975 is their best in my humble opinion) & March of the Black Queen.

The brilliant guitarist is Brian May. Please watch "I want to be free" video if you can get it, I think it was banned in America when it came out years ago.
