I like that Kansas declares, "It is about the music, not the band." I applaud the "new" band members; it takes excellent musicians to perform the complex music of Kansas. The newer generations are getting exposed to and enjoying the phenomena of Kansas that gripped me when I first heard the "Masque" album in 1975. Prolific songwriting genius Kerry Livgren was the visionary of the band. My family and I are going to hear them in Louisiana this month--the last time was in 1978 at their Leftoverture concert in Jackson, MS--40 yrs. ago. So looking forward to it!

I hate to say it, but I think it was a good thing Steve retired and they got a new lead singer who isn't past his peak!

Was this lineup a year or so ago. They're still great live. The newest record is definitely Kansas! Two original members, two long time members, and three new guys. They sound rejuvenated with some of the old energy restored. To me, they are one of the greatest Amercan rock bands of all time. It IS all about the music....

Would i pay to see these New Guys play Kansas ? You bet . Members get old & retire . And some pass away . But in the end , it's the Music that matters . As long as the Band stays True to the Music the Original Band wrote & recorded ? That's all that i care about . Carry On Kansas .

I cant imagine the ignorance of some people who claim to love the music but also suggest to just let it die off. Let some of the best written songs just fade into obscurity.

Nobody is saying that here, so why mention it?

This is the best song that Kansas did yet it didn't make the top 10.

It's hard for me to agree when this is the same band that made Magnum Opus, but I swear, that intro bridge guitar riff is genuinely one of the coolest I've heard despite its simplicity.

when Rich Williams got that eyepatch on, you know you're getting the spiciest music around

Saw Kansas in the 1970s about 12 times...phenomenal...but everybody already knew/knows that. Move to present day and I agree with Watchmen and Dave below. The best way to keep epic music alive from the past is to evolve the band when/where needed. Steve is the voice of Kansas...keep it alive! Journey's Neil Schon knows this. Now...what about RUSH? Who could do it?

It lives in the heart of Rich Williams. When Rich is done, so is Kansas.

There is no one left from the original band. This is a Kansas cover bane covering Kansas. Sad

Two original members (Rich and Phil) and Billy Greer has been in the band 33 years, David Ragsdale has been in the band 27 years.

That's like saying David gilmour isn't Pink Floyd. Yeah sure he's not an original member but he is a integral part of the band. These guys may not be original, but they were involved with the new album and are the new Kansas.

The bottom line is simple: this is still a great band and they put on a great show. If someone doesn't like the fact that they are not the original members then don't go see them. Frees up good seats for the one's who do go. By the way, Steve Perry was not the original Journey singer. That didn't mean their years with him were a "cover band".
