How to Play PS2 ISOs on a Jailbroken PS3 Using ManaGunZ

- This tutorial will show you step-by-step how to play PlayStation 2 (PS2) games on a modified/jailbroken PS3 using ManaGunZ! This method shows you how to transfer your PS2 games to the PS3 over your network via FTP. multiMAN is used to transfer the game over to the console itself while as ManaGunZ is used to mount and boot up the game. This tutorial will work on ALL jailbroken PS3 consoles!
You do not need to worry about having a hardware or software based backwards compatible console, although it is important to note that compatibility and performance might not be great on a console that was build without backwards compatibility in mind. ManaGunZ is reported to have better compatibility as well as performance in-game, compared to other methods such as webMAN through multiMAN.

Honestly the only console I've ever jailbroken was my 3DS, and I honestly thought it was gonna be some insane jumping through hoops, but after finding your stuff I was able to do it within about 40 minutes last night. Same shit happened to me with Managunz freezing the system when I tried to load the game.
If you’ve Jailbroken your system recently I believe programs have updated since this video was made. Do everything the same in this video...just skip the Mangunz part.
So once you have WinSPC and used it to transfer your PS2 game over:
Load Up Multiman
Scroll To RETRO
Click On The PS2 ISO You Want To Play
This will boot you back to the PS3 Home Screen. From there under the Games section just click on the PlayStation 2 Format Disc icon and the game will load up.
Make sure to set up the memory card a lot like it’s shown in the video as well before playing your game.
wowwwwww thanks when i had recently jailbroken my ps3 following all these steps and didn't had no problem with managunz then my cousin wanted me to jailbreak his ps3 so i did but only problem i had was when i load up managunZ it's just blank screen and says "No Games are found" when i already added games to managunz files but then i read your commet and load it with multiman and so far my game not crashing or nothing it's working fine right now thank you
i hope it stays like this and not cause me problems loading it through multiman because on my ps3 when i load it though multman my whole system crashes and have it load through managunz

I think you forgot to mention that this method works only on ps3's which natively support ps2 games, isn't?
Mine does not support and I cannot mount an iso file with ManaGunZ.

Had been trying to jailbreak my ps3 for a day now. Had mixed results with other users tutorials. Some things would install properly but eventually I'd hit a roadblock with a corrupt file or an error. I honestly avoided your videos at first cause I felt overwhelmed by the level of detail. Like, you're thorough but move fast. The videos tend to be longer cause there's more steps than other users. But when I started following along things started to work. At first I was like why are we dumping files and checking them multiple times to see if they match? It all worked though. Now I know the difference between CFW and HFW. I thought I only needed one rather than both. got multiman finally running. Can't believe you showed me a way to upload isos from my computer to my ps3. I'm just like wow right now. Awesome. Thanks for the in-depth guide.
This is exactly why I got into making video tutorials: I was trying to learn a few things and got frustrated over missing/inaccurate/assumed information not being conveyed. My tutorials aren't the best or the shortest, but I'd rather get as much information as I can in the video.
Its been 14hrs since I tidied my old ps3 slim. I installed CFM, lots of packages, got ps3 Dumps( legitimately i.e) . Now happily playing my ps2 iso rips. All this .. THANKS TO YOU!.

I have budokai 3 and I mount it and click x and all I get is a small blue line at the top of the screen and then my ps3 crashes. If you fixed your problem then how?
@@jerryprice9573 Just extracted all files at the same time. So it creates only one folder. Before, I extracted only the first, that's why it didn't work.
I've followed all the steps, but when i go on managunz and press X on the game it just freezes. Is there anything that could be happening?

More than likely it's the iso that's the problem if you PS3 is a US console make sure the iso is also a US iso

I'm unsure of the name of the software, but you can remap the controller on games for the ps2, i did it with one of the monster Hunter games as it was a hassle, this doesn't change on screen instructions just the actual button mapping

Just one thing I think you should add is that if you create a memory card utility is that you should assign a slot to 1 or 2 if you're using PS1 games as well(visa versa) , otherwise it won't have a save location.

U can also use ps3splitter and split the iso into smaller parts copy it to the usb use multiman install the iso to the hdd and play it normaly also no filezilla transfer
Is PS3Splitter the program to use now? I used to use Split4G for PS3 games, haven't had to in a long time though so I never switched programs.

hey im getting a black screen everytime i try a ps2 game. i tried switching it to 480p and it will loud the image of the game but then black screen. any idea why it does that. tony hawks underground and def jam fight for new york
Send it into sony technical support to fix your problem.
Make sure your games are compatible other than that reset your system and try again if not mess around with the settings

I hope this works fairly well, because multi man's image mounting for PS1 and PS2 games has been really shoddy in my experience
No issues with PS1 or PS3 games in my experience, although PS2 I've never gotten to work properly. I always use WebMan or ManaGunZ.
MrMario you made the best series of PS3 tuts on entire RUclips. So far so good. It does work fine on my PS3, but theres a lot of games that do not run fluently. Can I improve or fix that through certain settings?

Hi Mario! Great tutorials and really thank you for that! I'm trying to run my old PS2 titles on the PS3 with 4.86 HFW HEN with Multiman and ManaGunZ, but so far no luck. When I load the ISO in Multiman it shows unsupported format in the XMB menu and there is no Mount button in the ManaGunZ. Is it possible to make it run on HEN 4.86 or you need the PS2 Classic manager and PS2 Classic Preloader?

Whats up Mr Mario quick question so when I go into managunz I'm stuck at this black screen where it says "square" Boost! and its just stuck on this screen what should I do
Mine does this same exact thing! It's not a black screen though, it's the blue screen with all the playstation button icons and stuff as a background, and then the loading circle keeps going in upper right corner, as a bullet goes across the screen, which I can also change the direction it goes back and forth from with the direction pad. And hold square to boost the speed before it runs out and refreshes. And select for logs. But it's forever on this screen, what am I doing wrong? D:

Nope. The closest you can get is to use MultiMan to rip the disc to an ISO on your PS3's internal hard drive.
Great tutorial!!!! I just loaded my first PS2 game. Unfortunately, only half of the game screen is showing. It’s as if game is moved so far right, half the screen is missing.

Dude you just saved me the trouble of getting a PS2 and doing the hard drive hack. I was thinking about something like this but I didn't know if they made anything like it for PS3, but know to fix that dang ylod.
Backwards compatibility isn't the best, but it works well enough for many games.
Not all the titles will work, if you have a chance to get a cheap ps2, do it.
Webman Mod can now use managunz configs. Meaning uninstall multiman and switch to managunz.

Hi guys, I tried to play Castlevania Curse of Darkness (PS2) using ManaGunz. Everything went well until the PS2 Format Disc showed up with the 'Blue' disc icon. While it should have a 'Yellow/Gold' one. When I pressed X on the disc the screen just went black after Playstation 2 title came up.
Memory card has set and Mana Gunz already showed my ISO files. I tried witg Onimusha and it worked because it showed the 'Gold' disc icon.
Please help...

Just installed ManaGunz and imediattly I like it more then Webman, Webman at least for me, seemed to ramp up my fan speed into oblvion, Wheras ManaGunz does not do this. While I do enjoy to convenince of Webman, I find this to be a much safer option.

Whenever I press “load game ROM” it takes me back to the home screen but the game isn’t there. It’s recognised as a ps2 game in mega man and managunz but just doesn’t show up as a disk. Can anyone help?
you have to make sure you installed the game properly
When try and put a ps2 iso on my 32gb fat 32 usb stick it says the file is too big.
It's only 4+gb.

When I try to launch A game it says (Todo) and that is it it wont launch any idea why?

If you're using a Slim PS3, it won't load, because PS2 games aren't compatible with Slim models.

I have the same issue. I thought that jailbraking a PS3 gets past the no backwards compatibility of my newer Fat PS3.

Do everything I this video cept just skip the ManaGunz portion entirely. You don’t need it.
Once the game is transfer from WinSPC to your PS3. Load up Multiman, Go to RETRO and click on the PS2iso you want to play.
This will boot you back to PS3. Set up your memory card if you haven’t already (it’s shown how to in the video) then click on the PlayStation 2 Format Disc icon and your game will load.
psp and ps2 games need to be on internal hdd especially if you have cobra.ps3,ps1 and all of retroarch stuff can be on anything else.

I saw there is a PSP option too, i tried it. The game showed up in ManaGunZ, selected it, got directed to the dashboard but no icon with PSP is shown. Am i missing somthing here?? Would love to play some PSP on my PS3 :P

Verify the version APK is compatible with the version of custom firmware (REBUG). I got that freeze screen, I updated the apk, but now I get stuck on the black screen before the ps2 logo.

At the 6:30 part. For me it doesen't appear to Mount Game, and When i press the "X" button, it appears a red warning in the right upper corner saying "TODO".

Just bought a modded ps2 with three sata drives I'm going to transfer them to usb harddrive the American versions. But I'm going to transfer all to ps3 I think this is the best way to play ps2 games. Matter fact I'm going to put the ps2 in the basement because of the drives. I had this happen when the drives go bad because of heat. So I'm going to keep them cool and I'm going to get them to work.

Anyway to increase the fan speed in ManaGunZ? My fat PS3 doesn’t have a speck of dust and has new thermal paste. within 10 minutes the system freaks the hell out thinking it’s overheating but the temps are RSX 58°C & Cell 68°C

I think it only supports games that come as .iso format sadly.
The PS3 Slim does not support PS2 discs due to the absence of the Emotion Engine and PS2 Graphics synthesizer that were present on the Fat PS3 so there might be some gameplay issues when playing PS2 ISO's. Does Multi-man have a PS2 emulator that allows you to play PS2 ISO's on a PS3 Slim without any gameplay issues with the PS1/PS2 Smoothing feature working with it?

Yes I did and for some reason it still says “Unsupported Data”. I don’t understand why. Someone mentioned that I should reinstall my firmware because when using the hombrew “Sen Enabler”. It is known to mess up the “cobra hash” and even though there is a “cobra hash fix button” in Sen Enabler. It doesn’t always work. What do you recommend I do?

Nice video thank you! I do have a PS3 launch edition 60gb CECHA01 North America. I have all my PS2 games in PAL . I live in Europe and there isn’t many NTSC ps2 games around. If I would jailbreak my PS3 would it run NTSC PS2 games with your method? And does the emulator take advantage of the emotion engine?
Hey, did you jailbreak that ps3? some guy is selling it and told me that doing that could mess backwards compatibility, don't know if that is true though.
