This is truly the first OBS Settings video I've ever seen that actually explains what each function means. And I've seen dozens and dozens of them over my lifetime. Great job sir!
They most informative guide for OBS i have ever watched! (Watched tons) just moved over to OBS from streamlabs and needed this video today! I am rocking a rtx 4090 64gig ram and looking to stream in 4k anything extra i need to do on OBS?
Thank you very much Ichiban! Just remember that Twitch can not handle 4K streams, but for RUclips you just need the right bitrate and you should be golden!
I think it is going to be a BIG thing in the next year or so, but for now it is not something I would recommend unless you know what you are doing and have a beefy PC
every setting in obs counts so much in the equilibrium of a good streaming quality we need a good combo of settings in order to have the most of our pcs
Very good and educational video, boutta start looking some of this stuff up on my own and see what else im missing out on. Super seriously, thanks a ton for this!
This is very informative indeed !!! - Can you do the same for the Macbook M1 Pro? I am seeing different settings in my MacOs. It could be so helpful. Thanks in advance :)
Hey Foxmode! Sadly I do not own a Macbook and don't stream on Mac so I have no way to really endorse certain settings as I can't test them out. Thank you for the kind words, however!
@@ContentDelta no problem and I appreciate your transparency and please do making more such helpful videos for new RUclipsrs and Twitch streamer like me :)
Just watched the whole video and you helped a lot with some clarification on settings! However I’ve noticed in every tutorial you all have the preset, tuning and multi pass mode however in my OBS I only have Preset and Profile Im sure it’s been updated (quite frequently) but if anyone knows a fix it would help me a ton 😂🙏
That is an AMD vs NVidia difference. It is why I said that these settings are dictated by NVidia, because you simply don't get them on AMD. Just set them them to whatever feels like it prefers quality.
Amazing video was really helpfull! Having a problem though, my microphone pics up my desktop audio internally this is on OBS and Discord. Is there a fix for this?
By connecting to Twitch you gain a few extra settings (such as ignore Stream Service Bitrate Recommendation) and you get an embedded Twitch Chat dock that you can just put in your OBS without having to make a custom dock for it. It makes life a bit easier, that's all!
Great info. Under my Encoder settings though for Preset my only options are Quality , Balanced, and Speed (e.g. no P7). I also don't have the Tuning and Multipass Mode settings. Is this an AMD vs. NVidia thing?
Also, my OBS is different for the keyframe presets. I don't have P1-7, I have High/Med/Low; and likewise for profile. I'm also missing some of the encoder settings that you have.
That sounds like you are encoding on x.264. Make sure to set this to H.264 if you have the option. If it still doesn't work out it might be helpful to join the Discord and we can have a look at it.
Base Canvas? Output scaling? If playing 4k (i.e.) but you set the base canvas to 1080 then transform in OBS window to fit screen then no need to scale and honestly a better picture than downscaling for the same file size. Is there a reason not to do this?
That absolutely works as well, however if you want to stream in 4K (because you stream on RUclips) that would not work. Instead you have the canvas in 4K, stream to YT and downscale for Twitch Multistreaming. Otherwise you can do that as well, but that would not let me explain what the things were actualy for ;)
Most GPUs are able to handle HEVC and AV1 encoding (RTX 3000 series and up), but that is not the problem: Twitch simply does not support those yet. RUclips does though, which is nice! - As for the bitrate: Yes, you can stream in 22,000 kbps bitrate and it will look amazing on RUclips. You do that on Twitch and it will ruin your stream.
I'v been trying to decide what is best for my ultra modded skyrim recording. On a 12400 and 6700xt, I have gpu/cpu/quicksync options. My gpu while playing, is 99% and throttled in many areas. I'm wondering if it would be better to record off cpu or even quicksync
If your GPU is 99% then there is no chance to record on your PC because that is going to tax your GPU even more. I am very surprised you managed to get Skyrim to pull that much GPU power though!
For AMD Cards set your Preset to Quality and your Profile to High. For the rest I am not sure, because I don't have an AMD card. If there are other settings, just reply here and I will check them out for you.
I would not use Audio Ducking unless you know exactly what that is and what you are using it for. In general leave it off! - What Audio Ducking does is, if you set your Music to Audio Duck your Microphone for example, whenever you talk into your microphone, your music automatically becomes lower, but if you set up your audio right, this will just mess it up instead of helping.
So I stream to RUclips. I use their 1440p key. My upload is 22mbps. I have mine set to 12,500 kbps in OBS. Should I try 18,000 for better quality? I have RTX 4070 12 GB card AMD Ryzen 7 5800x
You can always do a test stream to give it a try, perhaps to a channel no one knows about. Although from what you are saying I think 16-18,000 should be fine!
Hi I’m having issues with input delay on stream everything seems to be fine In obs but when I bring up my stream is delayed by like 10 seconds anyway how to fix this?
Hey! There are two things to check: In your OBS settings, go to Advanced and scroll down to Stream Delay. Make sure that is turned off. Then head to Twitch and in your Streamer Dashboard head into the Settings, then Stream. Here you can find the "Latency" settings and make sure that is set to low. If those are both correct, then I think it may be a non-OBS related issue, such as your internet connection or ISP. It could also have something to do with the port forwarding in your router, but that is hard for me to check from here.
If you have this set to channel 2 as Math has in the video, then any audio sent to play on channel 2 will be saved to your VOD. Which means anything NOT set to play on channel 2 won't be added to the VOD. If you watch from around the 12 minute mark in the video, math goes through how to select which channel each bit of audio goes to. If you have something you want left out of the VOD, deselect channel 2 for it :) As mentioned in the video though, it's not a guarantee that you are safe to play copyrights music and sounds.
Honestly, the differences between Twitch and RUclips are minimal and I do address the important differences for Twitch and RUclips, especially when it comes to Bitrate and Keyframes (where Twitch doesn't care and RUclips really requires 2 seconds or less)
@@ContentDelta tbh I’m too much of a rookie to even kno what that is but I’m using my laptop , so whatever already came with it. No extra attachments or anything. I stream with ps play
Have you used the Stats page I talk about in the video to figure out what the issue is? Dropped frames, Missed frames, and Skipped frames all have different solutions.
This is truly the first OBS Settings video I've ever seen that actually explains what each function means. And I've seen dozens and dozens of them over my lifetime. Great job sir!
Thank you very much! I felt the same way about the other videos, which I watched when I just started, so I just had to make this video!
It is nice to go through the settings and finally understand WHY I'm setting the settings. Thanks!
I know we have talked about this before and I thought "If no one else will, then I shall".
This video is awesome! I had problems with my stream set up. Watched this and now I’m all good! Thanks. Keep pushing more content!
Thank you for the kind words!

nice work with this video 10/10.. what do you think about the Enhanced Broadcasting feature for a twitch stream?

Happy to help, dude! It can be hard sometimes to understand each and every step of the process
Fantastic Video! The absolute best "Best Stream Settings" vid I have seen. Thank you for this
That means a lot! Thank you VERY much for the kind words! Hope you can use it well.
Thank you so much for an amazing video. This will definitely help me out on my journey.

Your microphone picks up your desktop audio? Are you listening to your desktop audio over speakers or is it reverberating through your headset?
Thank god I found you. Amazing content.

great video bud

Bitrate plays a important role in the % of the cpu or gpu utilization in streaming
Not really, bitrate is mostly the cost you pay on your bandwidth. While there is some % your game resolution and FPS are much more important
W video holy thank you
whats the difference between connecting to twitch on obs and just using stream key? what do i gain for connecting to twitch?

need the video on recording hahah since the cod beta is releasing soon!! I appreciate it though!

I have AMD FirePro W7100 how do i adjust in the AMD software
Set your Preset to Quality, Profile to High, Max B-frames to 2 and Keyframe interval to 2 seconds. That should do it.
Do you have a solution for reducing the fps drop when recording with obs? My fps goes from 100 to 30 when i record.
I do indeed! Have you checked out the best stetting for recording right here: ruclips.net/video/qpfiDoGvtz0/видео.html

What if my KBPS still drops even with these settings? Is it my internet or a bad ethernet cable?
Check your stats! If it's dropped frames it's your internet
What about the audio ducking? In OBS - tunred on or off?

scam this settings for stupid users. not for stream and video
Do you have any evidence to back this up? I've been using these settings for the better part of a year now and have no complaints.
ummm
