    I used an inkjet color printer to make copies of old vintage XMAS cards so I could decoupage them onto wood. I ironed print w/no steam iron at highest setting using a thin brown paper bag between iron and inkjet print, then I lightly sprayed prints with aqua net hairspray. I let them dry for about an hour and then ironed again using a thin brown paper bag between iron and inkjet print. The ink did not bleed when I applied Mod Podge on it and my XMAS project came out beautifully.

      Oh great. The heat from the iron mist set the ink, the same as the oven. Thanks for this tip. I will try it both ways.

    Just wanted to thank you for your video! I had a decoupage malfunction, I had decoupaged a small table and left it in my garage after applying the poly, not sure if it was the 100 degree days or the 100% humidity, but the paper lifted and had huge air bubbles under it. I used this method to lay the paper back down and it worked perfectly! Saved my table and all my hard work! Thank you!

    I've been upcycling an old wooden tray. I took off the old paint with paint stripper and then repainted it with a few coats of light sage green Decor Chalk Paint, and then painted over the green with a few coats of White Chalk Paint. Then I sanded back some of the white paint - on the corners and so on - so you can see some of the green, and now I'm ready to decoupage over the inside base of the tray, but I'm nervous because I don't want to wreck it 😅! I love your technique with the ink jet prints and the iron, but I was wondering how you stop the baking paper from sticking to the Mod Podge, or does it just not stick to anything? Thank you for your great video tutorial. I've got lots of pictures that I've printed off my ink jet printer that I can use with this technique. I don't know how we crafty people got on before RUclips was invented, because I would never have heard of your technique if it wasn't for RUclips videos!
    Love from Amanda Jones ❤️

    Question from a newbie: you printed the pics on copy paper instead of photo paper...is there a reason?

    • @OurUpcycledLife
      @OurUpcycledLife  2 года назад +1

      Photo paper is very thick and hard to do a nice decoupage. Plus I don't like to use a original photo incase it doesn't work and your photo is ruined. You can also use a photo copied photo. Thanks for watching!

    I have a question. Can you seal the picture front first.first. Then Iron it on, then seal a last time? Will the technique work that way? The reason it is wrinkling is because it is soaking up the moisture.

    • @MissMolly3377
      @MissMolly3377 2 года назад +2

      I have noticed, people use way too much glue in their projects. Whether it is mod podge, wood glue, hot glue, etc., they use way too much. If you put too much glue on, you won't get a good seal. With mod Podge, using too much of it, causes lots of wrinkles. If you use a lot of hot glue, it doesn't seal good, at all. I also have noticed that people will put on wood glue or super glue, then add hot glue on top of it, 🤦, it will cancel out the wood glue or super glue. The super/wood glue, then, will stick to the hot glue, instead of the wood, metal, glass, or whatever surface, someone is using.

    Thank you for this video. Very informative. I have a question for you. I want to put a canvas print on the foam board. Can I mod podge on the foam board, let it dry, and put my canvas print on it. So my question is, will this process work without melting the foam board, and will the print on the canvas be okay? Thank you so much for your time.
