I used to feel so discouraged doing decoupage the traditional way, but not anymore!!! Thank you for giving me the inspiration to try decoupage again!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you! I have decoupaged for 25 years at least and never thought about using an iron! I have used a lot of tissue paper (which family always saves for me from birthdays and holidays) and never had it bleed on me. I am going to try this and also try it on crackle medium because I love that rustic look! Thanks again!!
Fantastic Piece! Love all the different pieces together! I would add another French tissue paper on the empty space, add a couple Handles on the top ends and uses as a serving tray or Stove Topper! A Super Fun Piece!!! Very Artsy! Love this Video! I am making some rustic wood Farmhouse Tab Curtain holders with Hooks and using Chippy paint and Napkins tomorrow using your method! Hope it works!!! Thanks for Sharing!!!
Thank you :) Yes, I need to put something on the open spot....since this is a sample board showing each different material, I'm wanting to find some floral wrapping paper or french script so that my board has 1 of each type of decoupage material (fabric, wrapping paper, napkin, tissue paper) all on one demo board to display. Since I was getting so many questions and comments on my other decoupage video, I need to get that this new video up quickly to help answer questions for everyone....so I didn't have time to find the wrapping paper for that spot. You're curtain holder project sounds pretty .... Would love to see pictures when you're done !! Thanks again and I hope you have a wonderful day !! HUGS :)
Thanks Stella !!! I'm so happy this was helpful and that you had great success with it. I love the iron method. Thanks for watching and sharing with me ....HUGS :)
When I saw that this video was just short of 25 minutes long, I thought I’d have to watch it later … I’ve got a long list of things to do today. Still, I took a moment to start it and now it’s 25 minutes later. You have such a great teaching style; I was hooked. Yesterday I tried decoupaging and there are wrinkles. Now, if they don’t come out with this iron and parchment paper method, I’ll start again from scratch, with more attention to surface prep. and with this video by my side. Thank you so much!
I use the iron on method all the time and I love it. I’ve never done the fabric or tissue paper yet, but looking forward to trying it! Love the tutorial
I can't speak English, but are you perfect teacher, see your work on my computer, I live and am from El Salvador, en next go to Dallas I to go buy from Michels, Beautiful work congratulations
Thank you for such excellent teaching of how to decoupage using this method! You are an excellent teacher and your enthusiasm is contagious because I immediately wanted to start a project! I will however try to purchase the products you used before I start! Thank you again!
Thank you Laura :) I'm so glad you liked this video and are going to give it a try. I love this method (not messy and easy to do). If you don't have a local Dixie Belle retailer, I'd appreciate if you used my affiliate link to shop Dixie Belle's site.....every little bit helps :) . If you don't know if you have a local retailer, you can click on my link and it will take you to the Dixie Belle site and on the site there is a "find a retailer" tab to see where you local retailers are. Thanks again and I hope you are having a FABULOUS day !! HUGS :)
Well you've done it again !! An excellent and informative video. I'm going to have to do this method of decoupage on one of up coming projects. Now, gotta find a new piece of furniture to do this one. Think I may get a piece of wood large enough and do this method to and use it in my staging. Thanks for all you do !!
You're welcome Gloria and thank you for watching !! I'm so happy you liked this tutorial. I love using this method and its so clean and easy...no mess ;) Thanks again Gloria and look forward to seeing your next project !! HUGS :)
I think you just solved a HUGE issue that I’ve been searching for some time! Going to try this on a BIG world map we want to mount on an outside protected wall on our patio! The map is paper, and I was going to decoupage it, but I think this method can make it perfectly smooth!! Whoo-hoo! TY!
You're welcome and thank you for watching :) I'm so happy this has been helpful .... your project sounds amazing !! Thanks again and I hope you have a GREAT day !! HUGS :)
Thank you Coreen !! I'm so happy you liked this tutorial and I hope you give this decoupage method a try. Thanks for watching and I hope you are having a fabulous day !!
i HAVE WATCHED THIS VIDEO SEVERAL TIMES. I REALLY ENJOY YOUR TEACHING AND EXPLANATIONS. HOWEVER, DID I MISS THE ANSWER TO MY QUESTION. WHEN USING THE PARCHMENT PAPER WAX SIDE UP OR DOWN. I THINK ITS DOWN BUT I'M NOT SURE. PLEASE CONFIRM. FLO
You are so clear and tell all the steps in such a way that even I could do it! You are a great teacher! I have some vintage gift wrap paper - do you think it would stand up to this technique?
Dear Woodland Poetry and Books If you're worried about using your vintage paper for a decoupage project, there's another way of doing it: you just need to make a print of your original paper and use that instead of the real vintage paper. If you have an ink jet printer, then you can can make several copies of your paper, and then you need to seal the ink by placing the copies in the oven, on a metal tray, for 5 minutes at 200 degrees Celsius/400 degrees Fahrenheit. You have to be very careful about this and only leave the paper in the oven for exactly 5 minutes, or it can burn. Then, take the copies out of the oven and off the tray, and let them cool. Then, take a can of hairspray, shake it well, and spray it lightly over the ink on the copies. (All this is done to seal the ink, because, if you don't do it, the ink will run. If you use a Laser printer though, you don't need to seal the ink and you can go straight to the next part.) Now, you apply 2 coats of Mod Podge to the surface you want to stick your paper to, letting each coat dry thoroughly. Then you just follow the instructions in this video: place the paper where you want it to be, cover it with baking parchment, and then iron over the top, making sure that there's no water in the iron, and that it's set to non - steam. The iron should be hot enough to melt the Mod Podge so that the paper sticks to the surface. After this, when the paper is completely glued onto the surface, you can varnish the whole project with a water based varnish, or you can add any embellishments you like, and then varnish it when its finished. I hope this helps you a bit. If you don't have a printer at home, you can have copies made for you quite cheaply at stores that sell office supplies and computers. Love from Amanda in Australia
@@amandajones6481 Thank you! I really appreciate your describing everything in such detail. I have always wanted to use those beautiful papers, but just couldn't see myself making a mistake and ruining them. Now I don't have to worry. You are so generous with your time. Thank you again.💗 Love from East Texas!
You saved my butt! I thought after applying my top coat and wrinkling and bubbles that happened it was ruined! Can't thank you enough for your tutorials!
Thank you Maureen :) I love this method and I used to shy away from doing decoupage because it was "hit or miss" if it was going to turn to the way I wanted. Then I watched Royce from Recycled Treasures do it and I was hooked. Now I do this all the time and have great results each time. Thanks again and I hope you are enjoying your day !!
Absolutely gorgeous! Have you used scrapbook paper? Thank you so much for sharing your ideas & tips with us! Stay safe, healthy and positive! God bless you and your family! Happy New Year to you and your family! 🙏❤🇺🇸😊🎉
Oh hells bells and buckets of blood. I have just spent hours trying to scrub out the bubbles on my first project. Ended up stripping it all off and starting again. I wish I saw this earlier 😰Thanks Amy for your excellent advice. Love your channel🥰
Hi Amy, Love seeing this process, thank you for showing. I know you mentioned not using wrapping tissue paper, but can you use regular wrapping paper? Have you ever tried, and if so have you had success with it? I would like to line drawers for a baby dresser/changing table .
Another great tutorial! I decoupaged fabric to dresser fronts using Mod Podge and it was a huge mess. I like this process much better and you stay clean! Brilliant
I thought about seriously doing this for a Plywood Floor in my Class A RV... It is in bad shape, and I was going to lay down plywood planks, stain it or white wash it... but thought about using the napkins with lots of top coats of Poly... that would be a labor of love, but wouldn't it be Pretty... Thank you so much for sharing this great (Beautiful) video... Loved it.
I recognize you, from a few ago, bicycling clothing. I was the one who never shut up lol, asking questions to you. Wow you really are a great teacher. 🙏🌹❤
fashiontoppings question Amy. I decoupaged some wrapping on just one side of a drawer with MP and then decided I didn’t like my choice. Do you know how can I remove the paper down to the wood? Thanks so much.❤️
I did this technique once and it was amazing. I just did another project and it is covered in air pockets. Does Dixie Belle top coat go bad. I’m so confused? Any ideas?
Great video. Glad there was no loud annoying music in background lol. Everything was explained PERFECTLY. One question though... would a heat gun work the same way?
Thank you Sandra :) I don't think a hit gun would work as well. The pressure placed on the paper with the heat is what locks it down smooth adhering to the clear coat / top coat that has be reactivated by the heat.
Just watched your video Amy, and wanted to say thank you!! I looked to see if there is a retailer near me and well, it's my lucky day!! I'm off to get my supplies. I have a project that I have procrastinated on and totally screwed up doing it the Mod Podge way. What a pain to get that off!!
I am not able to find dixie Belle gator hide. Is there another brand that you would recommend? Or Dixie Belle brand they could do the same is there a topcoat Dixie bell?
This is the best video instructions I've seen. I have a question. Is there a time limit on drying time before ironing on tissue paper etc. Like, is overnight too long to wait. Thank you.
I applied 3 layers of mod podge to my wood headboard 3 weeks ago & got too busy with life. I went back today & ironed on my napkins and it worked just fine!
Question for anyone who makes crafts to sell, What is the deal with making decoupage items to sell using printed patterned paper, copyright etc? There’s so many pretty tissue paper patterns on Amazon, not sure if they can be used for this purpose?

Thank you so much for sharing 😅 I try find answer if I can decoupage on cotton muslim? This fabric has quite loose weave. What do you think?😮

Does this iron method work with mod podge and the America's decoupage glue? Thank you for teaching ❤️ ♥️ 🙏 💕 💓

How do you precisely trim the edge of the fabric and stop fraying?

Can this be done using canvas frames? I know that the inside the frame needs to be supported since it's soft. Thanks for this video! You do great!
Thank you so much, you are so helpful. And you explain everything so we'll🥰
I recognize you, from a few ago, bicycling clothing. I was the one who never shut up lol, asking questions to you. Wow you really are a great teacher. 🙏🌹❤

how to finish!
Brilliant! Loved your tutorial. Q. Is there an alternative brand/type sealer to your chosen demo?
Absolutely amazing! Tfs and God Bless 💕😊
Thank you Dawn :) I'm glad you liked it. HUGS :)
Seriously amazed by this method!!!
Easy and no mess....that's what I love about it most. Thanks for watching and I hope you have a great day ! HUGS :)
Thank you so much!!!! 😍
Same process for coasters? Will that be enough to seal for liquids?
Just what I needed Amy. Thanks so much for the great video.

Love this method. Have you tried it on canvas?
What tips can you give me for applying to a curved surface like a can? Thank you
Would Dixie bell medium be strong enough for” heavy poster” decoupage?
Could you use Modpodge instead
So if we don’t want to spend extra money on the Dixie products, could we do the same process with Mod podge?
Can you use a mini Press instead of the iron?
Can you use a bed sheet for the cloth application
Do you have a method for scrap book paper on metal. Actually a Dollar Tree pizza pan?
I did this technique once and it was amazing. I just did another project and it is covered in air pockets. Does Dixie Belle top coat go bad. I’m so confused? Any ideas?

Is a top coat sealer the same as polyurithane? Sp? I know!
How would you cover a round item.
Thank you for your video, information delivered very clear and I enjoyed watching
Can you découpage photographs?
Can I use printer paper instead of parchment?
So you coat the board and then the fabric?
Where do you get the squeeze bottles you put the Gator Hide and Top Coat in?
This will also work with Mod Podge?
What kind of paper did you use . We don’t get that big napkin papers here . Did you use wax paper to iron
Thank you for sharing. Its very very informative
You're welcome. So happy you like this tutorial... HUGS :)
I used Hallmark wrapping paper or rice paper for decoupaging as well!
Can you please give brand & size of iron you are using or provide a link to it? Thanks! Excellent presentation skills!
Can mod podge be used as a primer?
Hi Amy I just watched your video. I was wondering if this technique could be used with fabric on a leather top table?
I am not able to find dixie Belle gator hide. Is there another brand that you would recommend? Or Dixie Belle brand they could do the same is there a topcoat Dixie bell?
I thank you for this.
I can’t find Royce Treasure tissue paper anywhere can you give me the link?
Great tutorial Amy! Thank you!

Great question🌹

@@blackwood06 Thanks!!!
Wondering how decoupage works on glass. Do you know? Working with dexoupage by dixie bell
Can this be done on canvas?
Question for anyone who makes crafts to sell, What is the deal with making decoupage items to sell using printed patterned paper, copyright etc? There’s so many pretty tissue paper patterns on Amazon, not sure if they can be used for this purpose?
Awesome projects! Love your videos. Have you ever used the heat technique on multi-level surfaces or beveled edges such as a picture frame? How would that work?
I've only done it on smooth surfaces because its hard to get the iron into the different levels.
For napkins I got frustrated from the embossed edges that are tiny dots like is there a way to get rid of it?
Do these same techniques work similarly on chip board?
This is the best tutorial! Thanks for explaining thing with such detail. Is mod podge a sealant/topcoat? TFS!!
Mod Podge is a decoupage glue sold in craft stores. Thanks Cristina !! I hope you are having a fabulous weekend...HUGS :)
