    Sorry about the 2 random clips that were left ungraded AND the entire 75 seconds of blank screen at the end… I’ve been pretty busy and overlooked it completely 🤦🏽‍♂️

    Anthony, this was such an amazing lighting breakdown! Not trying to sell anything, but just simple and straight to the point real-life application lighting.

    Funny how you brought up combo stands. I was just thinking about how everyone uses C stands. They’re not even designed for something as heavy as a light… technically they’re designed for *shadows* (no but srsly: scrims, silks, flags, etc.). They can hold smaller lights, because everything in film is over-engineered. But a spreader stand is best: baby, junior, combo, etc.
    Great video hi five!

    Really loved seeing your approach. Question for you - how would you change your setup if you were dealing with inconsistent sunlight? I shot something recently using big loft windows, but it was an overcast day, so I was constantly fighting to find proper exposure.

    • @AnthonyRodriguezz
      @AnthonyRodriguezz  5 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks!
      First off I wouldn’t have the “inconsistent light” hitting my subject. That will cause a whole slew of problems. Or if you can’t control that, I’d say to add a motivated light source that will stay consistent to compensate when the light does change.
      At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter toooo much. The client and the viewer aren’t really paying attention to that.

    Hey, I just saw your video snd wanted to share what I’ve was taught about Combo Stands.
    The. Cross bars in the leg need to be horizontal. It gives you the stability and that is where you are supposed to sand bag at

    • @AnthonyRodriguezz
      @AnthonyRodriguezz  5 месяцев назад

      Hey!
      Wdym by horizontal? If you mean the metal in between the legs, I’m pretty sure I eventually did! Thats where I usually hang my sandbags.
      What’s weird about this one is it’s a lowboy so the center bars don’t up as high as normal combo… they’re super close to the ground

    • @FilmmakersAtLarge
      @FilmmakersAtLarge 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@AnthonyRodriguezz yes that bar. I have a a few low boys only use them for flagging on getting a fixture low. Also have 2 mid combos by Kupo. Try a mid combo with casters for those corporates the then you can roll the light when adjusting. There is also a way to do the french over booklight with the light attached to the stand post via cartellii clamp

    • @AnthonyRodriguezz
      @AnthonyRodriguezz  5 месяцев назад

      @FilmmakersAtLarge do the light was attached to the stand via a cartellini 😉
      Also, there was a specific reason I chose a lowboy, I could be in the wrong though!
      1. I needed the setup to be as low as possible because the 6x6 had a good chance of not fitting in the space I was in and if it’s too high it almost defeats the purpose and cause a bit more unnecessary spill on the bg than I’d like.
      2. It’s smaller and lighter and for how packed my car was with all this gear…. It was an essential component to factor in. For this job it was more than enough imo.
      It ended up working perfectly but I’m open to hearing if I used them incorrectly! 👌🏼

    Booklight question: Was the scrim jim frame over stressed being held at an angle just by the one cardolini clamp on the bottom crossmember? It looks to be twisting in the video. Seems like a lot of weight, especially with the additional front silk attached to leverage off that one mounting point.

    • @AnthonyRodriguezz
      @AnthonyRodriguezz  5 месяцев назад +1

      It was!
      The scrim Jim actually doesn’t weigh much at all and the diffusion is actually as light as paper.
      The clamp is more than enough to take care of the scrim. I was nervous as well but after using it, my nerves disappeared real quick

    Great video. The image is fine, but my only suggestion would be to bring a light with more power next time for that many large windows. Or maybe add the 200w to the 300w book light and use the 100w for the kicker. Edit: just saw you have 720 in the kit

  • @chrisfake6832
    @chrisfake6832 5 месяцев назад +3

    You needed some fill in this shot. Just my two cents. With such large windows in the shot the room level overal should be brought up. It ends up looking like your fighting different light sources not complementing each other.

    • @AnthonyRodriguezz
      @AnthonyRodriguezz  5 месяцев назад

      Appreciate the feedback!
      This all comes down to taste. The warm light giving some separation was casting a little bit of warmth on the cheek and that was enough for me.
      We tried bouncing some light back onto the shadow side and it looked pretty fake/not flattering imo.

    Awesome setup Anthony, looks good ! I've done a couple book light setups on corporate jobs but on dimmer spaces so I could use some heavier diffusion, because it cuts the light a lot ! Also which cart are you using to transport your gear? how are you liking it ?
