Shimano reels. The only difference between say a 2500 and c3000 is the spool depth and handle knobs 2500 is tear drop knob , 3000 is T knob
4000 has T knob 5000 has power ball knob
All rotors are the same. You can take a 3000 spool put on 2500 and visa versa and there won't be any issues. Same with the 4k/5k
As far as gear ratios go. I always go high to extra gear because it's easier to slow down a high speed ratio vs trying to speed up a lower gear ratio
Size - depending on experience depends on size as well.

I ordered by mistake 21 tp xd c5000xg instead of 4000xg , can i buy an 4000xg spool and replace it? Or returning the whole reel to the seller and buy 21 tp xd 4000xg ?

@@artificialslinger9730 thanks for answering bro , at the end i sold the whole roler to a local friend (seems there is a high demand on it) and ordered a new one with the right size. Better than being stuck with two spools

Yeah I agree for the most part on the specs being more important but also you have to take into consideration the size of fish you're going after. And if the size of the frame of the reel can handle that size of fish.
For example when I'm bass fishing I don't go below a 2,000 size reel but when I'm fishing for channel catfish I don't go below a 3,000 size reel. But if I'm going after a monster sized flathead catfish or sturgeon I'll go no lower than a 4,000 size reel.
And most of this has to do with line capacity and the strength of the frame of the reel required for that size of fish. because let's face it a small 2,000 size reel can't handle a 200 lb sturgeon it's just not built for that.
so the thing im mostly wondering is that i got sustain 2500 and a twinpower 3000. im wondering if i should go down from the 2500 to a 2000 because the 2500 and 3000 almost identical in size and im worried that if i go down the 2000 and 2500 would be the same size and just have a deeper spool in the 2500. if thats the case there is no reason for me to go down
So the 2500 and c3000 have the same size frame, but the c3000 has a bigger rotor and spool. The 2000 has a smaller frame, smaller rotor, and smaller spool than the 2500. Probably not much smaller, but it still will be smaller.
Just wondering if Shimano Ultegra FC C3000 reel would take 2000 size spool?🤔
I just bought a Shakespeare 230 reel that I think is a size 30. So that would be for 6-10 pound line right?

You know when a reel is made with high quality material I becomes expensive. Its not worth for catching small fish. Its good for catching big game fish like bluefin tuna and gts.
