Thanks for interesting video explaining reel sizes I wonder why line capacity seems quite large ie if I used match rod with 1000 reel with 4 pound bs line I wouldn't need over 200 yds of line ! Obviously you can fill them out with old line but take a 2000 reel 310yds 6lb line ! Maybe if you were fishing for Tarpon !

Thanks for the informative video. For some odd reason, my light action spinning setup (4 lb mono line 6 ft rod) have been catching more big fish lately than my general purpose medium action spinning setup (10-12 lb mono line 6 ft 6 in rod) lol
So the correct pairing is always determined by the mono line weight, not the braid line weight - correct? Also, I found this quote which seems to fall in line with the reel specs and rods max weight examples you used: "Pick a reel whose maximum drag is as close to the maximum line weight of the rod without exceeding it. That way, with the right line, you can take advantage of full drag."
Most reels are rated above the line size size 10 reel 4-6-8 lbs line size has drag ratings of 11 lbs average around. Bigger goes up. Thank you for the time to teach me something now.
I enjoyed the video, Now my new rod from Japan, bought in the UK has a PE rating of 1.5, my reel is on the Breaking strain system! Is this to completely confuse anglers?

Just read the box for the line weight and compare them to the line rating on the fishing rod. You will probably require a 7' medium action rod for the 35. As to the make, you will have to do your own testing there. I have mine paired to Berkeley Lightening rods.
What if the rod doesn't specify line weight ? It's an old 7' 10" (2,4m), with casting weight 1 - 2 oz (30 - 60 gr). What size reel and line would you recommend ? Thank you :)
If new just go combo for the best set up or no get reel then a rod 🤔 or let the factory figure it out. I've been feeling for years now my son has me fishing for Bass I think is mostly gimmick stuff what do you think about that. Something works and 5 company makes the same thing 🤔 🎣 I say with the original name or minimal change for more money 💰

3000 to 4000 series. You'll want the rod to feel balanced. Anything less than a 3000 on a 7'10" will be too light.
