Genius Exceptional intellectual or creative power, the greatest musical genius of our time is Angelina Jordan. Can one be hypnotized by sound? Shamans use rhythmic drumming and chanting to achieve control over a mind. Angelina's is unique in that she has the ability to create audios that trigger your brains "frequency following response". She has the ability to create a euphoric addiction to her total being similar to drugs, but without the side effects, she is in fact, like nothing I have ever experienced in the past.
Quincy said he opened his vault to provide his arrangement that he scored for Frank and Count Basie for their album It Might As Well be Swing, just for Angelina.
Angelina here a few days after her concert in Norway with the Military band, in fact all her outfits are the ones she wore in Norway, including her "rehearsal outfit". Such a different feel to have a full symphony orchestra - those strings! The venue for this is St Luke's usually used by the London symphony orchestra - it looks like they just had one run through here, Angelina asked about the tempo before they started then off they went! This is what you get when a talented singer gets to be supported by a professional orchestra, mutual respect... Following this, on the day of the concert, there was a sound check in the O2 arena, then it was for Angelina to open the show. She was so excited as she waited to go onto the stage, but so relaxed when she sang. Of course, Quincy made a fuss of her, during the final bows Quincy had Angelina on his right and the conductor on his left, Quincy noticed the bare feet for the first time - he was so shocked! Angelina impresses so many influential people in the music industry, when the time comes she will burst on to the scene and all those famous artist will be saying - I met Angelina once, she is amazing...
Yeah, I met Angelina at her last summer concert in Kurbadhagen Norway 💞 Traveled a long way from Germany and was so happy about these great day sharing with other Angels from around the world 🌎💟💯
The arrangement she used was different from her other performances of this song. They used the original arrangement which Quincy wrote for Frank Sinatra and the Count Basie band
At 12 years of age when this performance took place Angelina Jordan was a polished professional with a SIGNATURE VOICE like no other that had been performing in front of live audiences for just over 4 years. When she auditioned for Quincy Jones, she song "Dream a little dream of me" standing in front of him in an office and he was blown away. He stated to her that she was the greatest since Michael Jackson, and that he wanted her to open his 85th Birthday Celebration in London at the O2 Arena.
I like your point about AJ adding stability and velvety smoothness to the overall performance. Exactly right! The orchestra is staccato; AJ is legato. Just a fabulous performance!
Jeff, all the stars were there to celebrate Quincy's Birthday and Quincy, himself wanted Angelina to open the festivities by singing 'Fly Me To The Moon' . From comments I heard the audience was stunned by Angelina's performance. Jeff, isn't she somethin' else? Absolutely incredible. During the rehearsal you can see and hear members of the orchestra applauding her.
I am extremely grateful for all the work you, and other "angels", put into Angelina's films! Then I can sit here at home and experience Angelina's beautiful voice. A HUGE THANKS to all of you who make this possible!
Fly Me To The Moon is a song she has sung since her earliest performances.. She sung those with more vocal fry .. Here she sings it more in her straight voice sounding very much like she could have been the singer in a top big band from the 40’s.. Notice how Quincy’s band who has played for the worlds top singers applaud after her performance.. They appreciate talent. when they hear it..
Angelina at age 12, opens the show for Quincy Jones on his 85th birthday. On 27 June 2018, Jordan at the age of 12 performed "Fly Me to the Moon" and opened for Quincy Jones in The O2 Arena in London, as part of his 85th birthday celebration. In 2019, Jordan performed for former president Barack Obama at the Brilliant Minds conference in Stockholm. (21) Angelina Jordan (12) - Fly Me To The Moon - O2 Arena - 2018 - YouTub
At the ripe old age of 12, she is standing with this accomplished director in front of a huge professional orchestra, singing what I believe is Quincy's arrangement (for Frank Sinatra) of this classic song, and she is the one that Totally Shines. Just Amazing!!!
Yes, her voice and even her persona are soothing and healing. There is even a RUclips channel devoted to her called "Wrapped in a Warm Blanket." Perfect description!
I heard another very competent reactor point out that Angelina at this point is doing something that apparently is known as "marking", meaning holding back a bit in anticipation of the performance, when the voice would be used at its full capacity.
A perfect rendition of the original arrangement Quincy did for Sinatra and his orchestra (when he was Frank's bandleader). IMO, this is Angelina at her best - the genre, era, style and feeling that best suits her, and that she so natural has mastered by age 12.
Sooooo glad to see your reaction to this! As a musician/producer I know you loved it as much as we did! A behind the scenes rehearsal of one of the greatest arrangements of this song EVER by Quincy, sung by Angelina and backed by this fantastic orchestra!
First off let me thank you for another fantastic reaction. I prefer to listen to reactors who have advanced knowledge of music. This young Lady just blows my mind.... I listened to an interview with Natalie Cole some years ago, and she was talking about having to go back and relearn how to sing this type of music, because it was so different from singing contemporary music. Angelina just does it, its in her DNA. That being said, this girl, at the age of 12 here, has already spent countless hours honing her craft. To have a gift doesn't mean anything unless you take the time to develop and build upon that gift. The ones that do are the ones that are the upper echelon of Musicians / Singers. That's the part, I think, people tend to forget, because she is so young. She is undoubtedly gifted, but makes the most of her gift by continuously improving her skills. Just amazing to watch. I have listened to a many gifted young artists, and when they play an instrument, it seems much easier to recognize the advanced skill set (if you have a good knowledge base of music). With a singer it does not seems as apparent. But this girl is just so unique in her approach and stylizations, that is blatantly obvious what is going on. Ive been following her for about a year now, and I am always amazed at what she does. She is also extremely versatile in her singing. She sang "How great thou art" in the same Key as Elvis Presley did (Amazing), then I heard her do an Etta James song in which she completely changed her tone and approach, then a Billy Holiday tune, again changing her sound and stylizations. Oh yeah, she has also been writing and arranging music for a few years already at this point. They refer to her as the Boss on the set...LOL.... All this, in a language that is not even her primary language. Stunning young lady, and not just a singer, but a musician.
This was Quincy’s arrangement he did for Frank Sinatra, so they used it for his celebration. The actual concert wasn’t videoed, so they dubbed the audio of the actual concert into this rehearsal because it was videoed with a phone or Grandma’s camera and the audio wasn’t very good. This is one of my very favorite performances of Angelina’s. Her voice is just perfect in this song-not overdone and blends so well with the orchestra. I just love it and have watched it over and over! Glad you finally were able to view it as well. There’s another clip of Angelina doing a short audition for Quincy backstage. He gave her first place performance for his celebration concert. She wasn’t even on the program so was a surprise when she came out and started singing! There’s also a backstage video Grandma Mery or her mom took before she went on stage, etc. She looked so beautiful in her gown and flowers in her hair. So much talent for a twelve year old! See, I’m gushing because I love this so much!
Better isnt possibel, thats crazy gooooooooooooooooood 🎉 angelina with a fenomenal orchestre, on point every little thing, i love it, angelina the goddess 👑♥️🌹💫 thank you for your beautiful reaction 😊
Pure talent, AJ is a prodigy , an outstanding performer. No doubt about it. A totally and complete professional artist. Since so young....God bless her. Thanks for the reaction you always precise and on point
This was Quincey Jones' original arrangement for Frank Sinatra, and she opened at the O2 at his request! You are right about her voice - she sails over that choppy sea of instruments and balances it perfectly. Thanks for reacting to this clip.
I share your enthusiasme for watching and listening to the rehearsals as well☺️. It IS a huge part of making music together💚. In this case trying to imagine Angelina at that age being part of all this + other engagements simultaniously …. crazy and very demanding even for an adult pro.!🤯 And yet she succeeds in staying grounded, being present and in the music and singing so beautifully, nuanced and swinging with such warmth, yet integrity …it IS very different singing with an orchestra like this😍🤯🥰🫠🙏🏼. Besides Quincy Jones rightfully being honoured here ofcourse💖and Angelina Jordan leaving us in awe yet again💖🥰, may I make a shout out to Jules Buckley as well - and here with as I remember it “Senbla Symphony Orchestra”?!💖🔥🌈🎵🎶🔥😃🤗 Maybe you remember Jules collab. with eg. Jacob Collier on his first album “Djesse Vol. 1”?!🥰 And the out of this world concerts with Metropole Orkest (BBC Proms)?!!!🔥💫🌟✨🥰🫠 A lot of wonderful collabs with great artists such as Snarky Puppy, Becca Stevens, Cory Henry, Jonah Nilsson😉, Gregory Porter, Tori Amos and many more, and I just love his approach, contributions, arrangements and way of conducting🙏🏼🌈💚🥰🤗. Eventhough I’ve watched this and another rehersal video from this moment, I still cracks up, when Jules (2:06 in the middle of everything) just leaves for something👀 and then comes back continueing like nothing🤣😂😅. Thank you so much for making this wonderful reaction, Jeff - I really enjoyed that👍🏼👌🏼🥰🌈🎶🤗.
I used a radio broadcast mix of the actual concert and used it to replace the poor quality sound from the camera taking the video of the rehearsal. (about 25 resync points needed) As usual YT screws up the sound quality itself, so if you want to hear it properly, theres a link to the original in the video description. ruclips.net/video/OMkwoqUNNkE/видео.html
I am extremely grateful for all the work you, and other "angels", put into Angelina's films! Then I can sit here at home and experience Angelina's beautiful voice. A HUGE THANK YOU to all of you who make this possible!
Hello again Jeff! Great that you got to see this one. Angelina just killed this, in the best meaning of the word 😉 And I totally agree, it is VERY hard to get your head around the fact that she was 12 years old and could do this. But, truth be told, she was already a veteran in the game at that stage. And it shone through. Love from Norway ♥♥♥
As a follow-up, you should check out Angelina singing Fly Me To The Moon in a more Bossa Nova/Brazilian Jazz style at one of her Summer 2022 Norway Concerts: ruclips.net/video/KQwcfuXoMkY/видео.html
For me, it’s astonishing to see how twelve year old Angelina conducts herself as being a decades long and seasoned consummate professional. It’s also amazing to see and hear how she makes this performance seem so effortless and easy. This practice session is just another example of why her legion of fans love and adore her so much.
It's Quincy Jones own arrangement for the show , also this video is a mash up the video has been edited and the audio is not from the rehearsal it's from the actual concert celebration performance audio. Here is the original rehearsal performance ruclips.net/video/KZ2KR1YMyOE/видео.html with lots more interaction from ANGELINA .
We get completely spoiled by Angelina. Always expecting amazing. So the amazing begins to seem mundane. Which is why it is important to hear from producers, musicians and vocalists just how phenomenal she is. The details are there. And you defeat the tiresome comment that it is soeasy for her. The attribute often missed is her work ethic. She has honed her craft constantly from the time she could handle an iPad. I have no doubt she has uncanny knowledge of music history and the nuances of Jazz. As one erudite Angel said she does not imitate, she interprets. She does not cover. She uncovers. Keep it up.
This is Quincy Jones's arrangement that he wrote for Frank Sinatra back in the day. Quincy said of Angelina " he hasn't seen another singer this good since Michael Jackson ", and that says it all.
This is one of my favourite songs. I love it so much. Angelina Jordan is a great talent! But she can never embody the feeling and lifestyle of the time like Julie London!
Lovely reaction! I really enjoyed your enthusiasm and appreciation for this song. It’s fascinating to see the growth between her performance of this song when she was 8 with Rosie O’Donnell and this version at 12. She’s truly the gift that keeps on giving. Love to all. 💕
Yeah, that is a great arrangement. It's the arrangement Quincy Jones wrote for Frank Sinatra. This rehearsal was for the celebration of Quincy's 85th birthday and as a homage to the man's creative life. What could be more fitting. I think Angelina outdoes Frank. Her singing is more controlled with smoother transitions, and her phrasing is more lyrical than Frank's. Check it out. ruclips.net/video/pQjrXU0ZaiA/видео.html (Note the instrumental break) EDIT: Notice how the musicians applauded at the end. These are serious professionals. They just don't do that for anybody.
This is the original rehearsal performance with original sound ruclips.net/video/KZ2KR1YMyOE/видео.html and lots more interaction from ANGELINA . the video used here is using the actual concert celebration performance audio , and the video has been edited. it's very good but doesn't contain the interaction of the original.
It was the video of the rehearsal but with the music of the actual performance. That’s why it sounds so balanced. A recording from that distance with a smartphone…. :-) Yes she sounds amazing and orchestra is incredible! Someone who went to the concert said she was all the talk afterwards. She also met with Quincy and he compared her to Michael Jackson. If someone like Quincy says something like that, that really means something. There is an older recording with the audio of the actual rehearsal you might enjoy to watch. This is with the same band of I Put A Spell On You and they are exploring a different song by Screaming Jay Hawkings: ruclips.net/video/80f3t3dmBbk/видео.html Thanks!
bart Quincy said that Angelina was the greatest talent he's seen since MJ....Also, the band in Portrait had a different drummer and bassist than IPASOY.
@@pietersbart What I wrote is what he has been quoted as saying. Anything else you may have heard is not accurate. I didn't put in quotation marks because I don't have the source handy.
You like rehearsals? Here is one when she was 9. It is "Portrait of a child," her version of Screaming Jay Hawkins' "Portrait of a man." It is the subtitled video so you can hear her interactions with the band. ruclips.net/video/SAkZDAXJA4E/видео.html
Jeff, if you watched the total video, that is much longer than the one you reacted to, you would have seen how AJ was instructing the conductor how she wanted the music to be played. Her total musicality is astonishing because she is used to working with bands. ruclips.net/video/KZ2KR1YMyOE/видео.html
This video is actually a mash up of the poor audio of the rehearsal with the great audio but poor video from the actual concert. The actual rehearsal video, for me, is more raw and shows a lot more with Angelina greeting the band members and having a discussion with the director. This is the same arrangement Quincy wrote for Frank Sinatra and Quincy wanted Angelina to sing it! Here is the actual real rehearsal: ruclips.net/video/KZ2KR1YMyOE/видео.html And here is the only known existing video from the actual performance in it's rather poor form: ruclips.net/video/uFtFHs2Dg5E/видео.html btw Angelina opened the concert
Your video is not the pure performance ( rehearsal) a fan pa1189j has used the actual concert celebration performance audio , the video has also been edited , it's a mash up its very good , but if you wanted to see the full interaction between ANGELINA and everyone concerned then this is the original rehearsal performance with original sound. ruclips.net/video/KZ2KR1YMyOE/видео.html it realy shows a lot more interaction , the mash up does not .
Jeff, you owe it to yourself to react to The Show Must Go On by Angelina Jordan, she owns it like all the other covers. ruclips.net/video/6NJv02ot5jg/видео.html
AJ❤is soooooo Beautiful ❤️❤️ Perfection ❤❤
I wanted a good cheerful cry today. Great song from an uber talented young lady

This music comes from an era when music was music. Angelina is channeling all of the great big band singers from history.

So much like Quincy's music.

EDIT: Notice how the musicians applauded at the end.
Happy Thanksgiving Jeff. This year we have something new and magnificent to make us thankful.
Thank you Douglas, Happy Thanksgiving to you too! 😊😊😊🫶
This is with the same band of I Put A Spell On You and they are exploring a different song by Screaming Jay Hawkings: ruclips.net/video/80f3t3dmBbk/видео.html
Thanks!
bart Quincy said that Angelina was the greatest talent he's seen since MJ....Also, the band in Portrait had a different drummer and bassist than IPASOY.
@@103mrg I've heard several accounts of what Quincy said. The general expression leaves room for them all :-)
@@pietersbart What I wrote is what he has been quoted as saying. Anything else you may have heard is not accurate. I didn't put in quotation marks because I don't have the source handy.
@@103mrg Thanks! If you do find the source, that would be awesome.
@@pietersbart If I get it, you get it.
You like rehearsals? Here is one when she was 9. It is "Portrait of a child," her version of Screaming Jay Hawkins' "Portrait of a man." It is the subtitled video so you can hear her interactions with the band.

Thanks for the link I'll check it out! :)
More brain, but not less heart in her performance. Nearly mature artist, infinitely talented...
This video is actually a mash up of the poor audio of the rehearsal with the
great audio but poor video from the actual concert.
Thanks for the link I'll check it out! :)
I always thought Ella Fitzgerald’s version was the best I’d ever listened to until this!
She’s only 12 here!
Very nice... by coincidence I watched this just yesterday - Quincy Jones clearly loves Angelina :) ruclips.net/video/U4jydMgzKes/видео.html
Jeff, you owe it to yourself to react to The Show Must Go On by Angelina Jordan, she owns it like all the other covers. ruclips.net/video/6NJv02ot5jg/видео.html
