The WWF vs WCW Monday Night Ratings battle heats up with the October 16th 1995 episode of Reliving The War. When WCW created the Monday Nitro television show, Vince McMahon and the World Wrestling Federation quickly noticed that they had some real competition and the WWF would need to begin putting on more compelling episodes of their flagship Monday Night Raw program. The competition was fierce.
WCW Nitro would broadcast live while WWF Raw presented unseen taped matches, and this would be a huge factor in the first months of the Monday Night War. With this in mind, this episode of Reliving The War continues with the WWF's Grand Rapids tapings while WCW has another oppurtunity to present a live, fresh wrestling show. In this upload, we take a look at both Raw and Nitro from October 16th 1995 to see who put on the best broadcast. Matches and segments include:
02:38 - Doink's final WWF Raw match of the 90s
05:12 - Johnny B. Badd vs Diamond Dallas Page
07:57 - Chris Benoit makes in WCW Nitro debut
13:03 - Shawn Michaels and the Syracuse nightclub incident
16:13 - Bret Hart vs Isaac Yankem Steel Cage Match
- Much More!

The woman with the binoculars is a time traveler lol
I get it , Tyson fight
WCW were 80s WWF time travelers so who can really blame her
I CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF THIS SERIES!
No kidding this is informative and well done
#me too
I hate to break it to you all but the Monday Night Wars did indeed end. Take a few moments and let that sink in.
Ive just started watchin this series.
@@SPOO87 just started today myself.
Hogans face in the thumbnail is priceless lol
I can remember watching Eddie and Chris debut. I was glued in front of the tube. Those 2 could blow it up.
At least you have something to do for the next 5 years. Going to get crazy when you get to the 2 hour shows in 96 and even worse when Nitro goes to 3 hours.
Dreading it. Upload rate will likely slow down to accommodate longer shows. But no giving up!
@@WrestlingBios I can understand that. Since your series on this started I have been watching all the shows chronologically myself and a month's worth of shows and PPVs can be watched in a couple of days easily and go by quite easily. When I get to 98 and the shows are both longer and Thunder starts I know it will take a while to get through and 99 will be worse with Smackdown. It is still amazingly entertaining though and some of the WCW stuff is watching it for the first time as we didn't get any of the WCW PPVs here in the UK and didn't get the first 6 months of Nitro as I'll always remember the first episode of it that we got in March 96 with the first match being Macho Man vs the Belfast Bruiser. Your content is fantastic though and I am constantly impressed with the amount of content you put out since it is always high quality.
Wrestling Bios I’m so thankful that you are doing this! It’s so cool!
@@freddiejohnson6137 I remember that too, but I really started taking note of Nitro when Scott Hall appeared out of the crowd lol
@@robattewell6087 admittedly that was when I started taking notice too my initial thoughts on seeing my first few episodes were "oh that's where all these guys have gone" and "it's pretty much the WWF from a few years ago". I did think the Nitro set and peoducion was a step above the Raw one though. Friday's were always great days for wrestling here at that time but i always preferred Raw just because Nitro always seemed outdated even during the nWo days i still thought it wasn't as good overall but i think that was my young teenage mind picking a side from day one.
This is the highlight of my week.
Me too mate, love your profile picture...lol.
This is all we have now. This is all we have left.
You put so much detail and effort into every single video you do. You deserve recognition for that.
The good old days when you had to place two TVs in the same room so you didn't miss a moment of either show.
I was switching back and forth but they took commercial breaks at the same time
Where I was at, they played a movie after nitro and then played nitro again. So I got to watch both
I definitely did watch the replay of Nitro if I didn't catch it all of it live which is around 1 in the morning.
@@stevenconnell5628 later on we got a tv with picture and picture so we would switch to the show that had a promo going.
This is the era when I was like eight or nine I remember seeing it but not in great detail thanks for bringing me back buddy
I'm 35, watched wrestling for as long as i can remember, until around 2000 or so. This era was right in my wheel house....and I can honestly say that I have absolutely no recollection of PG13 ever existing....and even after watching these, they still arent ringing any bells for me.
Exactly that. Well said.
Tony Perkis Do you not remember them rapping at the beginning of Nation of Domination’s entrance?
13:28
Ah yes, that time HBK got beat up by the entire United States Marine Corps and couldn't put over Shane Douglas. Fun times.
Brings me back to when I was a kid. Of course I was real young so didn't know there was a real Monday night war, just two pretty good wrestling shows. I always thought as a kid these were the same companies because so many wrestlers worked for both companies, sometimes appearing on both shows within a matter of weeks. Great content👍🏾
The lady with the binoculars needed them because Mean Genes glare off his head was blinding 😂
I wish we could get 2 shows a week. I just love this series and its currently my favorite show on RUclips
Looks like Nitro's going to be in the lead for most of this series until we get to late 97 early 98. Lol
Ol Blood n Gut I think that was sort of expected, but its FASCINATING (for me) to see the nitty gritty of why instead of just subscribing to the narrative because reasons
Raw got really good in 97. The ratings didn't reflect that. But the Hart Foundation was phenomenal.
I agree 100%
AND he's scoring on his personal opinion, not who actually won the ratings each week.
Judging by the way the Hart Foundation, Stone Cold, Shawn Michaels, Mankind and the angle where Paul Bearer teased us and threatened The Undertaker with Kane for months during 1997 is going to be hard to give a low score compared to some of the stuff WCW were doing during 1997 which didn't involve the nWo.
If you ask me the WWF went awol in 1997 and I think certain aspects of 1997 made 1997 even better than 1998.
Take the way Austin was in 1997 for example... wild, raging and out of control plus he was way more worse with the cussing on the mic during 1997 and they actually had to tone his character down to groom him as the face of the company come 1998. lol
I come to Wrestling Bios for the music, I stay for the reviews 😀
Another great video! Keep it up!
Like the production value is insane
I never knew Triple H faced Doink. Also your doing good with these videos.
Not the original but the last version of Doink...The heel version...too pity for the man playing him...RIP...
Lawler in the cage above the ring is one of my earliest wrestling memories!!
Love this series!
Who else watched WCW Saturday night?
I did. I watched every Saturday.
I loved WCW Saturday Night cuz it was the best place to catch Arachna Man.
I used to watch it with my dad. It was on really late in my country like 11 pm.
I actually think it was WCW Saturday Night that first got me into Wrestling and it was an Ultimo Dragon match that I saw.
I watched Saturday night. Didn’t get Nitro in Canada for the early shows
I remember watching Norman Smiley do his thing..
Really enjoying this series. Wednesday is quickly becoming my new favorite day of the week :)
I absolutely love these. Have you planned for how you will approach this RAW vs Nitro series when Nitro goes to 2 hours in 1996 vs RAW's 1 hour show?
My guess is he would go by 15 vs 30 minutes blocks.
Or when raw gets bumped by tennis or the dog show...
Remember when Nitro was broken down to 1 hour live on a Monday and the other two hours prerecorded on that Tuesday because of the NBA Playoffs coverage on TNT?
Been watching these from about episode 90. Didn't realise there were loads before so now going back to the start to see them all. Love this. I was never into wcw and stopped watching wrestling in the mid 90s then returned late 90s so this is all knew to me even though I know the more famous bits
You didn't realise there was episodes before 90 ? Why would he have started at 90 ?
wooooow, Kimberly Page (Diamond Doll) was such a Doll back in the day.
Easily just as hot as the other women of the day
I remember on this episode of Nitro Mean Jean made mention that one the WWF superstars was in a alyercation and ended up on the short end of the stick and we had to find out on his hotline before Vince talked about it on Raw.
Nice to see that you are expanding to podcasts. Blu-ray collection in 2 years, mark my words.
Love this series. I worked late, and watched the replays of WCW at night, but missed a number of Raws. So good to see.
Best Series going today!! This is pure GOLD. Thank you for doing these
Cant stress enough how much I love this weekly show! Dont ever stop!
I look forward to this every time,
Thank you for doing this mate...really enjoying it!!!
Keep this up buddy. I just barely remember any of these shows so it's great to re-live them again.
Could you not maybe have a viewers poll after each episode to see how our decisions compare to your own? Just a thought 🤔
So do you want a viewers poll?
I am so glad that I found this. this has been AWESOME!!!
Thank you for this series
I haven’t commented before, but I’ve watched all of these Raw vs. Nitro videos and I’m really enjoying them. Thanks for all of your hard work in producing them.
Love the intro.....keep up the good work
Subscribed to you on Spotify. Listening to your exclusive as I type this. But yeah, I've heard from another RUclipsr who does podcasts that it was easy to set up. And would give me something more to listen to whenever RUclips is at slow moments. Thank you.
This is quickly becoming my favourite series on youtube.
Love this series. Please dont stop til WCW's end.
Great stuff mate, been looking forward to this! Thank you!
I listen to youtube in my car. RUclips premium allows you to turn off your screen and have it play. Your videos are perfect length for my drive to or from work.
Loving this series. Started today and binging it all through
6 down, 265 more to go.
Wow never thought about how long this series will be! Way to put it in perspective
The way you scored the main events left us wanting just as much as the Nitro main event finish did. Hilarious.
So basically nitro is going to win the next 150 episodes.
Good job, I love watching these
Thank you so much - i really appreciate what you are doing - so fun to relive the monday wars head to head
This is a really good series I like how you go in depth with matches and the scoring system, really good work.
Great content. It's really interesting watching these along with the new current wrestling promotions going head to head.
Love this series bro. Best wrestling channel for sure
Exactly !
Loving this series, man. Found you from Star Trek The Next Conversation podcast. Host mentioned this show and I’m hooked. Awesome memories. Awesome stories. And awesome information presented in an entertaining way. Thanks for this!
Thanks always enjoy these!!
Wrestling Bios - a fan's perspective with an expert's knowledge. Look forward to these every week.
I am loving this series your doing dude, glad u stuck to your original premise. Great intro music too
"I can't believe WCW had gotten three weeks of TV out of Hulk Hogan's mustache."
That has me rolling.
Great job! Looking forward to seeing the next head to head episode
Lady with the binoculars deserves that point lol
I watched Raw that week as I was a huge Bret Hart fan, I remember the cage match really well too like yesterday! Can't believe it was 1995 tho hahaha. I am enjoying the series, I hope you make it to the end of the war.
Are you going to compare the PPVs as well? In Your House 4 vs Halloween Havok?
Thanks for all the work you put into the channel.
People forget that even though WCW fell apart at the end, they were a solid product for a long time.
I look forward to these videos so much!
Thank you for bringing back the greatest years of both brands man I miss these years I wish Vince McMahon could recapture this magic that made his company maybe aew can push him in the right direction
Great idea for a video. Trying to watch both wwf & wcw from ‘96 onwards but it’s taking ages. 👍🏼
New Wrestling Bios video..immediate thumbs up
Thank you for making exactly what i want to see! This is the only decade worth mentioning in wrestling history imo. The glory days so to speak. I miss these times. Wcw, n64, power rangers, ahhh the 90s
Just caught up with this series, I love this weekly presentation going through every detail instead of simply talking about major events and matches which most old school wrestling fans already know.
That Power Bomb is so loud if anyone hasn't seen it
Get pumped just off intro. Takes me back. Cheers man
Excellent content ,this series has been a great idea.
This series beginning to become my favourite
Just subscribed to the podcast version! This will help since I drive a lot at work! Thanks!
I absolutely love your format for this. You should consider using this format for the current Wednesday night wars. No one else is doing a segment vs segment review, and I find this point of view intriguing.
I'm really feeling these "Reliving the Wars" videos. So far, I got "Raw" 1 - "Nitro" 3 & 2 ties.
Love your channel. Good job! I'm from Poland and I never watched WWF as a kid - we only had WCE nitro in English (didn't understand a word back then). Still it was my favorite show on TV. Now, when I'm like 30 I know everything, the history, characters etc. Thank you for that.
I love this series buds. Keep up the awesome work 🍻🇨🇦
Hell yea dude thanks for the podcast option, it’s really convenient. 5 star review on its way now
Amazing series. I would love to see ECW television added when applicable.
I can see this series getting plagiarised by some less imaginative and original channels
I doubt it, I been watching and grading shows on an excel spreadsheet and took a year break because the shows get longer and I had to focus on other things. I wouldn't be surprised if he quits doing this series. I also note things from the crowd, repeat fans, different shoes/clothing styles lol.
What a prophecy!!! Two months later and we have a clone!!

I really enjoy your series!
Ahhhhhh yeah been waiting all week
Interviewer: Sting, your tag team partner betrayed you last night. How are you feeling?
Sting: I still can't believe Evil McBackstabber double-crossed me!
Liked before I watched, been waiting for this, keep up the good work, love this series 👍🏻
Keep it up brother! I love everything with your channel . You are amazing.
I am totally surprised to see how popular Marc Mero was in WCW. I allways just viewd him as the former husband of Sable tbh
This channel is simply on another level
Not really surprised with Chris and Eddie's match. They always put on a great show. They had fantastic chemistry
Just gave the vid it's 1000th like 😎😂 Been watching tons of your vids and loving em bud...been reliving a lot of my childhood and fonder memories/simpler times thru these videos of yours. Keep up the good hard work brotha. And I'm subscribed to the channel too of course haha. ✌
I was a big wcw fan back in the day i love these cuz i remember going back and forth from nitro to raw when i was little
Really digging this series
Yes! I love that your on spotify now! Such a good idea I love this channel!
Good to hear you getting a podcast ready
I love all your videos that u be posting up. Keep on doing what you doing. I don't usually leave comments or be rating your videos but I did today.
These are one of the few video runs that i will press "like" before i watch
Ooh may have to go find you on Spotify as I have an account and I’ve been looking for good podcasts to listen to anyway. So win win for everyone.
just commenting to help more youngin's on the algo get this - they need it. such a great damn idea to to a retrospective like this. wow, this is a great idea and presentation format
Love the podcast versions of this series as well
You ask for podcast reviews, you get podcast reviews. Thank you 🙏 good Sir!
I absolutely LOVE this series!!!! Watching these brings back so many wonderful memories!!! Also, I had completely forgotten that Chris Benoit had debuted in WCW, in '95, & i'd forgotten about PG-13 being in the WWF, in '95.
Love this series
I thought when you started this series, I would pick Raw but with your great analytical perspective, so far I agree %100. Your really nailing it, Awesome job my friend, you do not disappoint! 😎😎
The RAW NITRO remix intro is 🔥🔥🔥
Nitro on fire 🔥
