WCW Monday Nitro and WWF Monday Night Raw went head to head on 3.25.96. The WWF are just 6 days away from their historic WrestleMania XII pay per view where Bret Hart would face Shawn Michaels in a 60 minute marathon match, while WCW are one night removed from their Uncensored 96 PPV that featured the ill-fated Doomsday Cage match.
This week's episode of Raw puts a huge focus on WrestleMania 12 with promos from The Undertaker and Goldust. Shawn Michaels is in action and Bret Hart comes to ringside to get a closer look at his WrestleMania opponent. Over on TNT, Hulk Hogan is nowhere to be found after he and Randy Savage beat the "Alliance to end Hulkamania" at Uncensored. The Nature Boy Ric Flair defends his WCW Championship against The Giant in the main event while Sting & Lex Luger battle The American Males. We're still in the early days of the Monday Night War, but things are definitely heating up!

Bret Hart: “Shawn got beat up by cheerleaders”
Nostradamus Bret over here, predicting the 2006 debut of the Spirit Squad, who would go on to beat up Shawn Michaels.
It wouldn't surprise me if Vince and/or Shawn got the idea from that line.
Impressive connection there.
3rd eye showing
Welll no shame because douph ziggler was part of it
I remember the infamous Syracuse incident. Despite Vince's milking it and making Shawn look like the victim, everyone knew that wasn't the case. Shawn was "coming on to" a Marine's girlfriend, refused to stop doing that when asked to stop and that was what led to "the beat-up." I met Shawn personally--he was/is the only wrestler that made me feel like I was walking on eggshells. Other people have told me similarly--that Shawn had(has)an "I'm holier than thou" personality.
Dude, you don't know how cool and enjoyable this series is, feels great to re-live this week by week.
It's the best thing going on youtube by far
I'll second this
So true, I don't watch a lot of IWC pro wrestling minutea. But I'm really enjoying this series... & not because I romanticize the "attitude era" either. 😆
agreed
I agree, sometimes I ended upbringing ul the episodes on the network afterward and skimming them myself...
I don't know about the early sleeper being strange but seeing Finlay with a mullet sure is.
“Bootyman hits the running knee on Disco and gets the pin.”
No no no, WB. You forget that Bootyman’s running knee is called the High Knee...as in, “HINEY!!” Ahahaha isn’t that funny??
“We should’ve gotten an apology for that match”
That line made me legit “lol” 😂
I refuse to say it!
@@WrestlingBios we wont make you unless you force that match on us again!!!
@Benjamin Volk It’s great being Hulk Hogans friend
@n/a Do you think I watch these without audio?
@n/a watch the Ed Leslie video he put out awhile back. Fairly certain he talks about the "Hiney" finisher
I'm really going to miss when Mongo starts wrestling full-time and we no longer get close-ups of his little dog's outfits every episode.
Did they ever explain why he has the dog?
@@malikevans2615
Does it even need an explanation? Cute doggy!
I love that friggin dog
pepe mcmichael is the greatest character in all of wrestling
@@bruhbbawallace
He doesn't get enough fame cause everyone thinks of pepe the stick horse.
Bret eventually changed his mind about Lucha Libre once he had realized what a jam-up guy El Dandy is.
Gold!
🤣🤣🤣
👏👏👏😂😂
Who was he to doubt José Lothario and El Dandy?
Anyone else think it's ironic looking back at Vince saying "you won't see an overpaid wrestler in short matches" now we've had Lesnar for years...?
I know what you mean! Hopefully, Lesnar is gone... for good!!!
Don't forget Goldberg mate
@@darrenmoney9354 Yep...him, too! Seems like that at least 90-95% of his matches were settled in the 5-10 minute bracket. That's like a Husband making love to his Wife, and "Finishing" in about oh, say, 10-15 seconds! Wayyyyyyy too quick for my liking! If I was Married, and made love to my Wife, I'd want to make sure that she was satisfied at the end of it all. Same thing with Wrestling: Give the people their money's worth! Don't come out, do a "Wham! Bam! Thank you, Ma'am" kind of a match. It's insulting to the people, when you do a rush job, just to get the people's money, and then leave, not caring about the people, and then laughing all the way to the Bank with their hard-earned cash!
Use your tounge mate, that's what I do when I'm lucky!!!!
@@ronaldshank7589 so your saying when your husband makes love to you, it's gotta be at least 30 minutes? Your husband must like the way you think.
The highlight of my week!
It's something that we can all enjoy
Same i get excited like i ustu when Raw or Nitro was on even smackdown
There's just no era of wrestling I'm more fond of than this. Nostalgic indeed.
Just for a split second I thought Buff Bagwell was George Michael
Scotty Riggs was definitely the Andrew Ridgeley.
Haha you are so right bro, looks just like him lol
This crossover special guest may have raised hell ^^;;;; But may have worked better with Goldust
Mississippi hasn't had enough Chicago street fights IMO
I get so hyped when i see you uploaded and even more hyped when that intro starts lol if i wasn't in my thirties id probably be running around the room like a madman lile when ibwas 10 lol
My WM12 Memories:
- The 60 Minutes Mainevent
- Goldust vs. Piper (with the OJ Simpson Clips)
and The Warrior Squashes Triple H XD
Great trip down memory lane. I was such a huge Bret Hart fan. I was rooting for him so much back then.👍
Its getting close ..... 5/27/96 . the day one of the greatest wrestling angles of all time kicked off on nitro of course
I can't wait either. That was the moment wrastlin' became epically fun.
I remember it well, was really exciting. Back then you just had no idea what was going to happen each week and it was must see TV.
Ric Flair was their oldest guy at the time and he was wrestling every damn week.
It’s finally here! I’ve waited all week 🤙
I know right!!! Always waiting for thursday now!!
I'm in tears watching the Giant overshooting his jump from the top rope 😂 He wasn't even close to getting it right!
I still cant get over how awesome the mix of the Monday Nitro song and the Monday Night Raw song is. It just works so well in sync together. Kudos for that.
“Assholeman” 😂 Your intense hatred of Ed Leslie is my favorite part of this series.
MVP this week.... Miss Elizabeth's rack.
Miss Elizabeth name MVP every week...
Would Lawler call those "Most Valuable Puppies"?
I love how he says Championship, Chompionship!
Konan reminded me a lot of Baraka from Mortal Kombat when I was a kid
“The slowest run -in in WWE history” That one got me
Perfect timing! Got an hour drive ahead of me but not before I relive the war :)
Drive safe & enjoy!
Great stuff , really enjoy your channel .
Thank you :)
This series has helped me through lockdown. I look forward to them every week. Keep up the great work
Thanks for doing these videos. I'm 35 so its super nostalgic. I look forward to them every week and they're very well done.
Bret Hart trolling anyone is such a sight to see😆
This series continues to deliver in spades. Excellent recap of those years, this is what the WWE Network needs in order to be truly relevant.
Not trying to knock any of the current wrestling programs but I get more excited about Thursday evenings getting to watch this series than I do for Monday, Wednesday & Friday night wrestling shows 🤷🏻♂️
I dont comment alot on other channels, but just wanted you to know this is killer! Getting to relive my childhood. Really cool man.
"And poor Disco is booked as the sacrificial lamb"
And it would only get worse from here, especially when he had to job to Jacqueline.
To be fair, Disco eventually got some minor pushes, winning the T.V. title twice and becoming the Cruiserweight champion.
@@richardstephens5570 he lost to Jacqueline during his cruiser weight title run the match wasn’t for the title
@@robbiesilverwolf Actually, he was T.V. champion when he lost to Jaqueline at Halloween Havoc(1997). He won the Cruiserweight title from Psychosis two years later.
Ok..I would love to be beaten down by jackie and I' m sure that Disco and then Chavo Guerrero enjoyed it...ha ha..
As a kid I watched Shawn Michaels tell me a lie video and then Brets video, after them I was firmly in Brets camp and over 20 years later I stand by that decision.
"The slowest run in" That killed me
8:31 hearing how much of a perfectionist Shawn was around this time... he was definitely pissed lol RIP Leif Cassidy backstage
@@planescaped Really?! Damn lol
@@planescaped Lol Razor probably buried him and got him sent to ECW and then Hunter... probably screwed the bosses daughter. Oh wait.
Al Snow (A. K. A. Leif Cassidy at this time), worked EASILY one of the worst matches here against Shawn Michaels...and with those botched moves on Leif's part, that could've completely derailed Shawn's match against Bret "The Hitman" Hart at Wrestlemania 12 that year, especially since that particular Wrestlemania was only about a week away. I don't blame Shawn for going off on Leif Cassidy, after such a horrible match. Is it any wonder that Al Snow didn't have what I would call a true push, title-wise, in the Then-WWF? Instead, he was put in a stupid gimmick, where he had to use a Mannequin's Head, and had to basically demean himself, just to have a job, & earn a paycheck!
@@shindra86 I personally wouldn't be surprised if those things happened to Leif Cassidy (A. K. A. Al Snow)! Shawn Waltman and Kevin Nash were tight, and I believe they were, along with Triple H, Scott Hall, & Shawn Michaels, the core members of that infamous little group known as "The Kliq". If ya messed with one of 'em, ya caught it from ALL of 'em!
I'll never forget these training promos. Epic.
Is Loch Ness the same guy who used to wrestle in the UK as Giant Haystacks?
Yes it's the same person
Dude died months after his match with the Giant
Yes
I think it's safe to say that Wrestling Bios isn't the biggest fan of Ed Leslie lol.
Who is? 😄
I think I have watched every video you have put out dont click like as much as I should cause I watch on the tv and forget but thanks you make great videos ... maybe we could get some older wrestlers like Bruiser Brody, Abdulla, Stan Hansen, ect I would like to know more about there career's and the story's they told.
I remember at the time I didn’t really like Goldust but looking back now he was genius
'Tis always strange seeing DDP in his earlier days in wrestling. I know him best these days from his DDPYoga programs that I follow! Again, brilliant video. Terrific series you are doing here.
Also remember next week that another big part of the Attitude Era puzzle debuts on WWE Raw! It's a wonder that, even at this point, we're seeing the building blocks of what would be a big wrestling boom take hold right now. Steve Austin, The Undertaker (he was always there, though), Nash, Hall, the eventual Al Snow, we have Sting one year prior to a HUGE makeover for his character that would reinvent him and get his even MORE over than he already was, Goldust doing what he was doing well before the WWE decided to go down the Attitude route, and the man coming in next week that would move the needle more.
We didn't know it then, but this was becoming quite the time to be a wrestling fan.
I had a rough day as my cat passed away this morning. Thank you Wrestling Bios for providing some joy on this difficult day.
I spend so much time watching your stuff, really got me into wrestling again. So I really appreciate all the efforts 👍🏽
Still love the Bret Hart video to this day. Shows that Bret was the best wrestler in the WWF at that time.
Three videos a week. All of them excellent. Your channel is my favorite diversion from the madness. Thanks for your efforts!
I be looking forward to this every week man big fan of your work I like going down old memory lane to my childhood back when wrestling was good
I really love this series!!! I really love this channel!!!! Makes my RUclips experience worth it
I love this series!!! This whole idea is a slam dunk and I look forward to a new video every week! Keep up the fantastic work!
Love the series. Pls keep them coming each week. Many Thanks.
you and Dave Knows Wrestling are the only wrestling channels I've been watching for a while now, awesome to see the collab stuff.
Thursdays are the day i look forward to now!!!! Thank u for this show!!! It should b on cable tv!!! I enjoy this more than when i watched the monday night wars in real time!!!
Thanks this brings back memories of jumping up and changing channels over and over on Monday nights.
That regal/Finley match was SO Stiff!! Regal hits a GREAT drop kick too .. right on the button!
I look forward to each and every episode! Excellent
Best thing going on Thursdays! Thank you very much for your consistency with RTW, Bios!
I'll say it again: reliving the war is amazing!
Really looking forward to these every week. I didn't get back into wrestling until after the WCW World War 3 97 PPV, so it's fun seeing everything that led up to it. Also liking that I can see what was happening on the other side with the WWF
Enjoying the Monday night Wars always makes my And Always enjoying Wrestling Bios, Thanks 🙏🏾
Best thing to watch on a Thursday night.... brilliant series.
I look forward to these everytime you post them. You have landed you a fan sir.
Great job
Thanks for this trip down wrestling's memory lane. I remember the Raw match that featured Shawn vs. Al Snow(a.k.a. Leif Cassidy)when Bret was on commentary. I thought that his commentary was not only PURE GOLD; Bret also smiled more which I loved seeing. I couldn't help but notice that after he pulled Shawn's leg and Bret's intervened, Marty seemed to be cowering during Bret and Shawn's "heated discussion"--he just stood there. From what happened in the match, I wondered how low the communication level really was--this affirmed what I wondered.
Love the series man! Nostalgic AF
Most enjoyable series on RUclips for me.
This series is great! It's just a shame we'll have to wait two years to relive Raw best years :)
best part of my thursdays!
I really liked Lex in WCW I think it’s underrated just because of his wwe run
The intro alone is amazing and worth the view!
I love this channel and series so underrated
I love this series but I can't lie to anyone when i say the May 27th 96 coverage episode is gonna be amaaaazing I am very excited to get to it! I love this series and I am enjoying it greatly but truly I cannot wait for you to cover those first 83 weeks starting from that point onwards.
This is my favorite show going right now. WWE needs to hire you.
What you said about the Bret Hart music video is so true nostalgia for me, this series is my favorite ,excellent .
It is cool to see the Bret Hart video again! Thank you for the weekly videos!
Another home run...love these vids
Looking forward to the next 5 years of this series.
Best series on RUclips rn
Seeing this episode maketh me wonder... What WCW would have been without the Hulkster and his antics... Just the 4horsemen, the new giant, Sting and Luger ... Just imagine, If Randy Sacage was alone and proposed to join the horsemen... So many things to ponder...
Another amazing video keep up the amazing work bro i have been literally watching since day 1 bro can't wait until the nwo shows up bro
4:45 Luger's botched accidental punch on Ric Flair. LOL!
Brets trolling was off the charts, 🤣🤣🤣 not wrong there
Great upload as always WB
Seriously thank you for the time and effort you put into these. Like and comment on all for the algorithm as I catch myself up to the present!
I'm down with calling Ed Leslie "Assholeman" during this phase of his career.
I've been enjoying this show, as I didn't watch wrestling growing up. Thanks for the entertaining history lesson!
DDPS hair ... WOW! 😂😂
Lochness and Giant was as short as it should’ve been lol
I was going to comment this but DDP legit looked 10 years older than he did a year or especially 2 years later... same with Fit Finlay. Hair is a big part of people's looks lol
Like I've said for the past few weeks. This is the best thing about Thursdays now 👍🏽
Al snow was looking like dave grohl
I'm excited about next week's episode. It's going to be a nice one.
Yay something that isnt about the U.S. election.
Amen.
Its rigged
@@Jimmy_Hopkins15 lol
Mega Raichu cry
Great job as always
Definitely best part of my Thursdays
Watched it all on t.v and I loved the bret stuff all of it he was just amazing still I watch him love best the exalence of execution
Quick stat on this WCW Uncensored show. This would be the very last ppv with the original version of Hulk Hogan going all the way back to 1983. The next time we'd see the Hulkster would be Bash at the Beach 96 when he turned heel. Kinda says a lot seeing as to how Savage helped Hogan win in his final WCW ppv as a face and he ended up turning on him the next time he came around. But, that's Hogan for ya!
This was the very first Nitro shown in the UK I remember it vividly and can never for that Macho Man and the Belfast Bruiser being the first match of Nitro I ever seen. Although I do remember thing after seeing who was working for WCW at the time that it is basically the WWF from a few years ago.
That lex luger punch @ 4:46 gets me every time
At 26:33, it looks like Bret's coming out of the 1999 Smackdown oval entrance. If only!
It's kind of funny to think that Flair was even better at wrestling giants than Hogan, who basically subsisted on that. That punt kick low blow was hilarious and looked effective.
I give you so much respect brother, you're putting in some stellar content that will be appreciated over time. Brilliant effort, are you still enjoying the process?
I just found the series about a week ago. Makes me look forward to work, lol.
such amazing episode.the details more from wrestling bios.about history.profesional wrestling entertaunment.
I got inspired by you to do this on my own channel. Documentary style wrestling videos. I'm releasing my first documentary style video next week. I'm gonna be taking a look on the episode where everyone on Raw went on strike! So I wanted to thank you sir for inspiring me! 🤘
Awesome, I'll sub and give you a chance 😁
I needed this this elections got me on edge. CALL A WINNER NEVADA!
