Wylie (TX) believes they've won the district softball championship and begin to celebrate, not realizing they have only recorded two outs and McKinney North (TX) takes advantage by scoring three runs to steal the title. - Спорт
How many left fielders get a chance to say "I would have been able to tag the runner out at home if the catcher hadn't gotten in my way."
^This xD!!! Man, that sucks.
While I played right field I got to tag a runner going home. There were two runners on base and I didn't know where to throw the ball so until I could figure it out I just kept running in.
She is literally the only one on the field who knew! She immediately went to 3rd to get an out there
Yeah it was an excellent pick by the catcher, idk wtf she was doing
Doesn't matter lmao they should've made the double. Play
Poor left fielder, first she's yelling out there 'It was safe, KEEP FUCKING GOING', then she heads to third to tag out the runner, but the pitcher decides to honour that bribe she was given and throw it to no one, then left fielder hustles all the way to get the ball, and is expertly blocked by the catcher. She was playing against two teams out there.

@@letsgobrandon6281 @chris tombs You guys seem fun.
First off, in both instances from the angle we have you cannot confirm that contact was made. Just can’t. You would need the side/back view.

that left outfielder is my role model
Can't really tell from this angle, but looked like the girl was easily out at 2nd base
"looked like" and what the umpire clearly signals are two entirely different things. as an nfhs softball umpire, i can tell you that girls often do not maintain control of a catch, especially with just the glove hand. also, it's entirely possible that in the excitementment of the moment, it was a "neighborhood" play and she didn't make clear contact with the base. bottom line is this" never make the umpire guess"; and make sure of the play AND the call before you celebrate.
I thought so too
@@cloudwatcher724 i put it on .25 speed and zoomed in and she was out by 3 steps
Yea looked like an easy out call to me as well. I didnt see anything to suggest she lost control or didnt make contact with the bag while she had control of the ball but regardless they should have looked for the call 1st. It's a common thing in baseball and softball to have different opinions on calls, it's the human element, so it isn't as if they jumped the gun on some rare occurence, bad calls happen often.
Well that settles it. Several armchair umpires thought it was safe so, case settled
The girl threw to no one in particular when the girl crosses home plate. If she held the ball, the game might have continued. Several bad things happened on one play. Nuts.
That was one of the biggest things I picked up on. Had she just run to home and guarded it, instead of throwing the ball to the thin air, they would have stopped the bleeding.
It may be something coach told them to do and if no one there its on the other player not doing there job
Not only did she throw to no one, she threw it into the dirt, so even if a teammate were there it was an uncatchable throw.

@Chris Tombs Lol. You can argue that both ways. The team who THOUGHT they had won had players hurling their gloves in the air and one of their coaches in the base path. The first base coach briefly touching the runner at first, and a player holding a bat on the sideline are the least of everyones worries.
@Chris Tombs I don't understand why you're telling me this? Ok, so first base coach and a player possibly did "illegal" things. What's your point?? The OP wanted clarification on what happened in the video. I provided that clarification.

Steven C Was Second Base Catcher's foot on the base?
It looks like it. And considering everyone's reaction it would certainly seem like it was an out. Even the baserunner acted like she was out and you know when a fielder's foot is off the bag. I played enough baseball to know that when the play is questionable you wait for the call. Only when a play is obviously an out or not do you immediately react the way everyone on the field did. I'm sure these girls played long enough to know an out when they see one.
I'd like to hear from some of the girls and the umpire though.
The fact of the matter is that it is not the umpire's fault... they do make bad calls... but the fact is... you must play until the final out is recorded... I understand you are happy and want to celebrate... but at least look at the umpire's signal.. he did that perfectly... but no one except left field was paying attention to it... the team that lost had so many opportunities for a tag out... the catcher abandoned her position quickly... she should have seen the safe call first of anyone... then she just had to stand her post.. instead.. left field had to come in to play the catcher's position... then... the catcher comes back and blocks her from making the game saving tag...
This was all the losing team's fault.. no one elses... this is why women cant play professional sports.. they let their emotions get the better of them..

But the ump near second called her safe, but the grey team didn’t realize. So the runner on 3rd kept going cuz she noticed, then one of the coaches prob told the runner who people thought was out to keep going, so she did and the red team got two more points and most likely won by 1

@@Demarini71691 When you pause it it's not even close, she hasn't even started her slide when she receives the ball.

A couple of things..... first; the umpire called the girl SAFE at 2nd base. You can see on the scoreboard there were 2 outs already so it was the umpire fault this happened. And not only that, but the home umpire messed up too..... as the second girl is running home, you can see the first girl touches her (that is an OUT). You are not allowed to do that. The only time you can do that is if it's an over-the-fence HR. Team in the field technically got FOUR OUTS!! Both umps messed up. THAT should be the theme of this video (the umpires screwing up)

I thought the lady yelling “cheap shots! cheap shots all night long!” Was actually saying “team shots all night long” and thought damn, they know how to celebrate a win
The catcher totally ran off early and celebrated then returned to home plate frantically and actually blocked her team mate (left fielder) from making the game saving tag at home after the team squandered the game celebrating too early.
Only the left-fielder had a clue or did not panic. She could have at least tagged the runner out an home, and they would have had a chance to bat, if only the catcher would not have decided to get right in her way.

BINGO
It was not a close call, clearly out
I've probably watched this a couple dozen times and haven't noticed till this morning, the second run to score should have been called out when she was "aided" by the first runner to score. No matter how insignificant the "aid" was, she should have been declared out by the ump
Absolutely right. Time should have been called, runner called out and the other base runners sent back to the previous base touched.
The two umpires are like, "Well? Y'all going to keep playing?"
Look at the runners reaction at 2nd she knew damn well she was out. That horrendous call cost them the game. I get it all umps/refs miss calls but this one looks obvious.
Yea she was out still close tho but if I can tell from here he should make that call
That’s how you see it.
It could easily be argued she was simply reacting to the obvious celebration by the second baseman who began jumping off the base - which was also ironically what makes the call of safe correct.
See we just gunna ignore that the pitcher just threw the ball to home when nobody was in a miles radius
Honestly not the worst thing good to see her coming up and throwing catch supposed to be there but after that when she stood their looking all sad waiting for someone else to get the ball is the bad part

But if we apply the coach rule, you'd have to ASSIST the runner.
First, terrible call by the ump. Clearly out. He was the only person in the park that saw it that way.
Second, if I were the homeplate umpire, I would have called interference on multiple players. IF the video is correct and there was 2 was at the start of the play then the UMP at 2nd base CLEARLY missed the force out at 2nd..I have been a UMPIRE in USSA and ASA for 25 years.
The game should of ended even on appeal ! The team in the field should of appealed the play and if over turned.. ends the game right there . Threw would be no chance for the other teams to score 2 runs.
BUT what hurt th team in the FIELD was the " celebration". There IS a correct procedure to make an appeal play in softball. If they has said ..WHAT ? to the base umpire and got the ball to the pitch .... then called TIME to appeal the play ...this would not of happened. The Home Plate umpire would of over turned the call and none of this would of happened as it would of been 3 outs.
It's a clear judgement call by the base official. There are some angles he can see more likely then the plate official would being much farther away from the play. There could have been no foot on the bag at the time of the play. It looks as if in the video she is clearly out, but if he thought there was a pulled foot than he should given an off the bag arm gesture then make the safe call. So he might have missed it. But if the girls would have made sure the out call was made before celebrating they had plenty of opportunities to ensure those runs wouldn't score. I would like to see a different angle of that play.
+DT wxrisk I'm an umpire as well. If they call time before they appeal, they can't appeal. You can only appeal with a ball that's in play. Also, if I was the home plate umpire, there's no way I overturn that call, no matter how bad it was. It's not my call, it's his. Remember when Armando Gallaraga pitched a perfect game for the Tigers and the first base umpire tanked the call and called the guy safe for what would have been the last play of the game? There's no appeal to another umpire; sorry.
I'm a grammar umpire and I am ejecting you for using "of" instead of "have".
@jomboymedia we gonna need a breakdown on this one bro
Jomboy sucks. His annoying voice ruins all the breakdowns. Plus, he doesn’t even know the official rules of baseball. Dude should get a real job. Let the pros handle the “breakdowns”. What a loser. 😂
It’s the Karen at the end yelling “cheap shots, cheap shots” that did it for me 😂 what a sore loser
IVE HAD THIS SAME SITUATION HAPPEN BEFORE IN MY BASEBALL STATE CHAMPIONSHIP DOWN BY ONE AND LAST ENNING GOT THE 2ND STRIKE ON ME CELEBRATING THE SAME AS IN THE VIDEO AND MY FRIEMD FROM THIRD RAN HOME BUT THE UMP SAID NO 🤷♂️I STRUCK OUT OVER PRESSURE 😂
Very difficult to judge from this view whether the runner is safe on 2nd. Looks like she's out to me. However, I also notice that the 2nd baseman had to leap to catch the ball. Could be that the umpire believed she was in the air as the runner touched the base.
+Johnny Gronley - No, she jumped for joy AFTER catching the ball. It was close, but the runner was out.
+Johnny Gronley I thought the runner was out also.
not 100% accruate
She could have missed the bag, it's impossible to tell from this angle/distance whether or not she actually touched it. But it looks like she could have easily missed it because she never even stopped. She was running in to make the play and just kept running towards the infield.
this ladies and gentlemen, is why you keep track of the outs in your head.
Umm.... They did. They thought there were two outs. That wasn't the problem. The problem was assuming they made the third out when it was called safe instead.
Is that lady yelling cheap shots in protest of the game or to get lit after the game at the bar down the street?
Runner at 2nd was out by a foot. Umps fault or we cant see an error that happened at 2nd base.
+ThumbsUpBrah i've replayed this 100x and every time its not even close. that ump was paid, no questions.
+ThumbsUpBrah The girl who ran to 2nd was still moving when she caught it, so my guess is she maybe stepped off the plate just as it went into her glove.
+ThumbsUpBrah Its never the umpires fault. It is apart of every sport to adapt to the calls the ref/ump makes. This is all on the players.
joecugo Fuck off kid lmao
joecugo Chill the fuck out bro. IDK what your problem is, go be an edgy angsty teenager somewhere else
The 2nd base/Field umpire ruled 'safe' at 2nd... I believe this is where the confusion ON BOTH SIDES comes from. The ONLY way that is safe is because the 2B either did not have control (which the video doesn't reveal) or she missed the base (I believe this is what the call is) but the video from behind the plate cannot confirm the second. It certainly looked out to me.
Which is probably why the runner squatting down, put her head down and started crying for 10 seconds. She knew she was out by a mile.
If I was the team that lost I would have appealed every base claiming a runner missed it. I don't think it would have worked, but the umps were not exactly paying attention to that amidst all the chaos (coaches running on the dirt during play, the on deck batter in the dirt halfway up the baseline, the runner that scored just hanging out in the home plate area and touching a runner in the field of play, etc).
It was the scoreboard that caused the error. It reads 2 outs when the batter hit the ball and does not change. (the last # in the upper right hand of the scoreboard)
This shows discipline for one team, and overconfidence in the other.
Why do people use the words over confident instead of arrogant?
That's right we can't hurt a snowflakes feelings. That's against the law these days.
This shows that umpire needs to be fired
New title: blown call costs team the game
wowww....the girl from left field actually ran allllll the way down to home plate, retrieved the ball thrown to the absent catcher and could have gotten the tag for the winning out, despite the whole screw up, but what happens? the catcher shows up to block her from making the tag. like i said... wowww. i'm going to go a step further and blame this mostly on the oblivous catcher
Left fielder MVP for paying attention to the the hell was going on!
... the umpire blew the call.
"haaa haaaa" - Nelson Muntz
What was the girl thinking by throwing the ball towards the home plate? Did she think she was playing kickball and could get an out by hitting a player with the ball? Lol
By the looks of it, the left fielder knew the out count better than the infielders.
