This Emily Burrow person seems to be a master of sportsmanship. Not a single time did she dispute any of the calls the Umpires made, whether they are correct or not. Good on her!
It's not only good sportsmanship, it's also amazing game management skill. Let your coach argue the call. Not only do Umpires have much better conversations with coaching staff, you're likely to find Umpires want to get the call right and are willing to listen, but not in a 2on1 battle. Worst case scenerio, if your coach gets ejected, shit happens. If a player gets ejected, then that position is vacant and needs someone to come in cold from the bench to take over.
I just want to say that I not only played, coached, and in later years played slow pitch. I have big respect for the people that umpire, some volunteer and some get paid. If you want to pitch, get trained and certified and help out, there is always a spot for you!
He did not scrutinize anybody. Not a negative word was said. How is calling a runner tagged out a close play when the ball is on the ground? Nothing close about that. One major stipulation of tagging a runner out is to first poses the ball. no margin for closeness. It is a simple yes, or no. Sometimes no, wait a minute, I mean yes. accepting ones mistakes spares one the horror of others pointing them out later.
i tell you what, the first call at home was brutal to watch. umpire was in the worst spot because he thought the throw was going to hit him. he stepped to the side and that was his 1st mistake. the last call at 3rd base, amazing that any umpire could miss that call. the fielder tagged the back leg, so where would the front leg have to be? oh yeah, touching the base. OUCH!
@@cb-tz8og The ball on the ground may not be anywhere near as easy a call to make as you think it is. Remember, the camera angle has a clear view of the ball on the ground. The umpires view has both the majority of the defenders body, the majority of the runners body, and the the fielders glove all potentially blocking his view. I do think he is too close on this play to make the call. On the other 3rd base call. I think he missed it because he was looking too straight on at the play. From the looks of his positioning, he appears to be almost at the baseline. This would mean he would be looking through the runners back to make the call.
They aren't easy calls by any means. If they are isolated calls here and there then it is ok, but if it is a regular occurance close or not than it's a problem. You can't use they are hard calls if it's a regular problem since it's their job to get it right.
The day I started umpiring my mentor taught me a quote from Jim Evans, a former major league umpire. It went "Umpiring is the only job where they expect you to be perfect and then get better." If it takes slow motion replay to show the call is wrong then, pardon me, but learn to live with it. It's high school softball. No one died and if someone lost money on the score of a High School softball game then shame on them, not the umpire. Most people can't decide what they want for lunch at McDonald's with the menu staring them in the face. In the course of a 7 inning softball game a plate umpire sees about 200 pitches. That's 200 split second decisions on Ball/Strike alone and it's happening at 60 to 70 miles an hour. Then add in all the other calls that happen at game speed and you begin to see the problem. One time a parent yelled at me from center field that my strike zone stunk, so I went out into center field and sat in the lawn chair next to him and threatened to call balls and strikes from there because I could see the balls and strikes so much clearer from 375 feet away from the plate. He was embarrassed that he put his son and his son's team in that spot. To his credit the guy apologized and I went back behind the plate. He joined the High School Umpire's association I was in the next year and he and I do games together to this day. He's a good umpire and an even better partner and he always tells me that me embarrassing him that day made him a good umpire, a better fan and a better parent. If you've never missed a call, then you've never umpired and those of us that do umpire won't sit here and pick apart what other umpires are doing with the benefit of replay. Besides college coaches are not watching Ms. Emily to see how the umpire are doing. Ms. Emily seems to be playing very well and she seems to be coping with the breaks very well. That's the important thing.
I find it interesting that all of the videos in this compilation are of my daughter, LOL, and I have NEVER put together a bad umpire call compilation video!
I do have some, but not half by any stretch of the imagination. All I said is that I have never put together a bad call compilation video of multiple bad calls..
I mean, some of them were just bad positioning. They're not professionals from the looks of it, so I don't really blame them for their positioning. One good thing I did see is that the umps didn't eject the coaches for arguing unlike some MLB umps *cough* Hernandez *cough* Carapazza *cough* .
xApolloJustice MP they get paid so the umps are technically professionals and they should try to get it right. But these are mostly close calls. I wouldn’t really call any of them BAD calls just some tough calls where if they had a partner they should have gone to them for help. And actually the only one where he couldn’t go for help from his Ump partner and shouldn’t, HE DID. I believe his partner told him that too. They play at first was a judgement call and didn’t meet the criteria of an umpire meeting. The only time an Ump can ask his partner for help with a call is a 1 missed tag 2 a pulled foot 3 blocked by a player or 4 he just plain falls down and doesn’t see it.
By definition they are professionals. They are paid to do a job. Paid by the participants no less. The least they can do is try to constantly improve their abilities. They can learn from watching clips like this, so maybe they don't always get themselves stuck w/ bad angles. Pride alone should motivate most adults to stop looking like fools around children that are temporarily under their authority. It sends the right message to our youths when they do the best job they possibly can. Should we teach our children the Awe, fuck it ne'erdowell half effort, it really doesn't matter if you get it right, as long as you show up and get paid attitude? No we should not.
That’s how it always goes with HS and College the umps are always in bad position. My fiancé was a college level player and it seemed like it happened every game. I’ve even seen a foul tip that a ump called a strike and the sound of the metal bat hitting the ball was “the sound of the ball hitting my padding” they’re so bad
So what was wrong with the second call? She offered at the pitcher making it a strike. The ball is live and it touched her, interfering with catcher making a play on the runner she was bunting to advance. As she began running with the attempt she was out of the batter's box, further solidifying an interference call
Granted these were incorrect calls and some of them bad calls, as an umpire I know I made a few incorrect calls in my carer. You try learn from them and improve. Sometimes you cannot get into the best position to make the call.
First one umpire is standing in bad spot to make the call, if the video was taken from his vantage point we probably would of never seen this video because we would of thought she was out as well
As an ump, this video a a great example for people that we don’t have the same angles and ability to stop and slow motion a game like you do. Also, we have to keep all elements of the play in vision while keeping ourselves out of the way as much as possible. Two of these are great examples of that, the play changing view was not in the view of the ump despite their best efforts.... two were ump failure. The first one was an ump failure, he was way out of position (and judging by his body language, he knew it as soon as the play came his way) The out at first called safe, I have can see how the base ump missed it, but there is no reason the plate ump who was up the line and had full view of all four elements shrugged off the base ump asking for help. Umps are human too, remember, a pitcher can miss the strike zone 50% of the time and be perfect, the batter can hit it 30-40% of the time and be considered great, but umps are considered terrible if we miss 1-2 calls a game. Btw, anyone who has umpired can tell you, we are aware of more calls we have made (especially balls and strikes) than you are and we will never let you know. Getting used to having to eat a call you made the wrong way is harder than learning to not flinch at high balls the catcher misses.
But that’s why you’re getting paid, TO BE in right position to judge, you’re not hitting, you’re not pitching, you’re not running, so you have plenty of time to position yourself and be prepared to make the call.
@@verzomusic These age groups are usually two-man crews. With multiple runners on it is almost impossible to be in the right position on every throw for every play. Umpiring is not as easy as those whom have never done it like to think it is. The scenarios are endless. My now retired assignor used to say, "You're going to miss some judgment calls. I will back you up on that 100%. However, there's never an excuse to not know the rules."
Always so critical....maybe this is why there is a shortage of umpires because no one else is willing to step up and accept this level of criticism. Bang-bang plays are tough, you make the best call you can, from the best position you can be in. It's very easy to hit rewind and watch a play again, but we don't have that luxury when we are on the field.
If they step up to collect a paycheck, they should also accept constructive criticism from those that provide the paycheck. Every other profession on earth is held accountable to job performance. Stop being a spineless finger pointer.
I'm an umpire, and for the record, I just want to say that I find it very annoying when parents do this (as well as coaches), when they have most likely never umpired a game in their life and don't understand that the game is moving very fast and that we as umpires do not have slow motion like what is shown in this video. There are going to be times where we may make mistakes, but that is because we are human. Just let everyone enjoy participating in this great game, because frankly, these kinds of people are decreasing my passion for baseball,
As a fellow umpire, I wholeheartedly agree. We make hundreds of calls in a game (if you're working the plate) and are constantly trying to get the best angle for a play in the field if you're the field umpire. 2-man crew can't cover or see the entire diamond, baseball, 10+ players, and the ball perfectly every time. Bad umpire calls are when the umpire makes a ruling that is incorrect. Judgement calls, especially on ones THIS close, where you literally froze the video and highlighted what you wanted to emphasize, is pretty pretentious.
I've been in both spots. I think more umps need to own up, they have the right to think about a call and over turn it. But 99.9% have too big of head to think they where wrong. Asking for help to get the correct call makes you a better man, not acting like your never wrong.
I also umpire, and I disagree with you wholeheartedly. If umpires are not held to high standards, there will continue to be horrible calls, and umpires will not work to better themselves. I have worked with umpires who lack judgment, do not know the rules adequately, and fail consistently to get in a good position to make the best call possible. In the first segment, the plate umpire KNEW the throw was coming home, and had time (but failed) to get into a proper position to actually see a play...and despite the FACT he could not POSSIBLY have seen a tag (the video confirms it), he called an out anyway. He SHOULD have called her safe. If there HAD been a tag, and the defending team appealed, then he would have been able to cover his ass and get his partner's help and get the call right.
That's the thing I don't understand. I would tell the ump if I didn't tag her, because lying always felt like cheating, the catcher had no problem letting it call and the 3rd baseman who dropped the ball was egregiously dishonest. But not everyone cares about honesty, they care more about winning at whatever cost.
4 man crew will get the call right 99.9% of the time. A 2 man crew where both umpires are moving on EVERY ball in play, locating it, the baserunners, the fielders, all at the same time is not going to happen flawlessly. If you have to freeze the damn video and out circles around the 'bad call' and didnt just show it to us full speed, you know, like WE HAVE TO, then your view on the high horse is pretty damn clouded.
There are times as a small time local umpire when I would have LOVED to have access to instant replay, but you only get one look at it full speed. You can't come up with a call that is 'I don't know!'
Personally I only see how the 1st and and last clips are bad calls. On all the other clips it was a close play and in the umpires persepective it may have looked like a tie. Also you only would have been able to tell the call if you were watching from the right spot in slow motion. Lets apreciate the umpires for doing their best!
Perfectly explainable-- it's just part of the game. The umps can't be in every position for every call, and in every one of these examples the ump's view is obstructed so they make the best call they can. It's not like it's incompetence-- just a poor angle on the call... The ump doesn't have the luxury of saying "I don't know, I couldn't see it..." He has to make a call.
I wore the blue all my life including 11 yrs in single A and shame on you for trying to show these guys up. Most of these calls are close and happen very fast. PUT THE BLUE ON AND TRY IT!!
The sad part is that I have had several calls similar to the first one where the tag was not even close and when I called the runner safe the coach of the defensive team argues they were out.
As a fan I understand how frustrating it is when obvious calls are missed, but as an umpire I understand how impossible it is to get everything right based on what it’s actually like to stand there and try to get a view of the play. The view from these cameras are perfect, but so often your field of vision is blocked and you have to operate with what limited visual data you have
I'm an umpire, and I agree that these calls were wrong. The out call when the fielder dropped the ball could be reversed by the plate umpire asking his partner for help, or by the plate umpire noticing that the ball was dropped in the first place. Now, baseball umpires are taught to get in the wedge (being in the catcher's left hip pocket, or directly opposite the catcher) to get a better angle on plays at the plate. These principles can also be used on the bases, and I wouldn't be surprised if softball umpires are also taught to get in the wedge. The wedge principle could have helped on the mistaken out calls at home plate and 3rd base. On the mistaken safe call at first base, the umpire should wait to ensure that the 1st baseman had the ball before the runner's foot touches the base, and replay the sequence in his mind. In addition, the fair/foul call on the batter hit by a batted ball in the box is typically called a foul ball in baseball, because the majority of the batter's box is in foul territory. The softball rule may be similar, so unless the batter was clearly outside the batter's box (one foot completely outside the batter's box) when she was hit by the batted ball in fair territory, she should not be called out.
Thank you for being a secure person with a clean conscience. Any less of an adult seems to be greatly offended by this clip for some reason. You clearly enjoy excelling at the things you do. Once again, Thank you.
So, in 8-10 years of Emily's softball career, umpires missed a half-dozen-or-so calls. Where's the video of the hundreds of calls they got right over the same time period?
brian switzer I want to see this video without the slow mos. they had to slow the video and circle the "correct" call. Full speed and the comment section would be arguing about the calls.
Not the first one anyway, that was egregiously missed. Even at full speed to a layman. The call at first base is also pretty obvious. The ball beats her by a full stride. But other than that, sure.
Sorry if I come off as rude, but what i don't understand is why uploading this kind of stuff matters. I have been playing baseball since i was 5 ( and now am 19) in fucking Australia. I'm happy just to get out on the field and play because i love baseball. My club which only has about 15 teams from ages 5 up until as old as you want to be always is in need of umpires and often umpires may umpire back to back 2-3 hour games over the course of a blazing hot saturday. The umpires are often given drinks ( in cases of seniors games, beers afterwards) and are treated with respect unless some idiotic parents want to complain about darling little Timmy's calls outside the strike zone. Bad calls, which are judged WITHOUT the use of SLOW MOTION (which does nothing because the human eye cannot slow shit down) are groaned about but we get on with it because its a fucking GAME. Why, the fuck, do you feel the need to edit this stuff? Why do you care? WHY HAVE YOU PUT EFFORT INTO THIS ITS A FUCKING AMATEUR SOFTBALL GAME
He didn't disrespect any umpires individually, or call them out by name. He just showed off some video editing skills and provided some clear answers to doubts other parents of his daughters teammates may have had. As for verifying the accuracy of the officials accuracy, every single major league professional sport uses instant replay, despite the union backing the respective officials are protected by. Sure its an amateur softball game, but it isn't recreational league. It is highly competitive and not cheap to participate in. If I were to scrape up the cash to send my kid off to a national tournament I would not want to see her be cheated out of any personal merit due to incompetency. Its not the end of the world to be called out, but since I would be paying the person that makes the calls, they might as well make the right call more often than not. Australia sucks shit at baseball. You all are so bad that when I played on the USA Jr. National baseball team your continent was never even mentioned as a potentially worthy opponent. We went and schooled Europeans instead, then sent them down to beat your asses. Stick with kangaroo raping for youre continental pastime. It has to be better than kissing umpire ass the way you do. The best athlete from your penal colony shit hole was a horse that ran the wrong direction. #pharlap #shamingthegamedownunder #uraflamingqueer #justanothershrimponthebar-b
As an umpire, I like to see these videos to try to learn what I could do to prevent the mistakes. #1 - Didn't get into position quick enough and was way too far from the plate. #2 - That's one of the hardest calls to have to make. The ball is blocked, so you can't t ell exactly when it hits the batter. #3 - Was kind of close, but not that close. Throw in the dirt makes it harder, but ... #4 - He was right on top of the play. I can't tell if she beat the tag, but the 3B definitely dropped the ball. He got shielded a bit - he should have been a couple of feet further up the line, but that's a tough one to cover with a 2-man crew. #5 - Another tough one to cover with a 2-man crew because he has to be in position to react to either 2B or 3B, Still, he should get a couple of quick step in during the throw to cut the distance, and the tag was pretty high.
I truly believe that we are getting to the technological point where every sporting event can be digitally recorded and some sort of instant replay can be implemented. These calls are absolutely horrendous.
Second one was actually right. The ball actually hits her at the waist as she leaves the box which after they pause the video. By that time her foot has come up and she is out of the box and classified as a runner. She is out for touching the ball while in fair territory.
ball was spinning inward on contact, if it made contact with her body it would have shifted the spin. Therefore it did not hit her. Umpire was too lazy to move his butt into a better position.
Never did baseball but spent years in SE Ohio basketball official. Sometimes things happen so fast it’s very hard to be in the right spot on the court to get a real good look. It was a challenge to try to get the call right, keep the both teams, players and coaches happy, and both groups of fans cheering instead of jeering, and keep my own feelings in check because when you were a local ref you probably had a connection with one or both teams and probably had some personal preference which team you liked better. I have been the ref when my home team played our biggest rival and made a game changing call late in the 4th quarter that hurt the chances for my home school to win. I had made a similar call in the first quarter against the home school and was blasted because I was being a “homer” for the school I graduated from. When I made the same call then my home school fans called me “traitor”! Ref’s never win! BUT we also never lose!
As an umpire myself I'm not quick to criticize as I've made some myself over the years, and when you know you messed up you get pissed at yourself. We're all human, but the only solace is it's a good learning experience.
God almighty what state high school athletic association is this? You have seen some god awful umpires during #34's high school career. The calls are so blatantly wrong I am shocked.
Swordsfor200Alex they didn't play a real time just slow mo and those are different games. Plus it was 4 calls not 4 hundred. Those calls are very close. And could obviously go either way. The only difference is we got slow mo and different angles and the umpires don't have that luxury all they get is the 1 angle and 100% full speed.
Yeah. Clearly club ball. Scholastic softball isn't nearly as competitive. That's what many need to remember. These girls are scouted by colleges almost entirely during club season. Recruiters don't waste their time watching high school softball. They love to see players handle these situations exactly the way this girl does. Its just nice to not get hosed so one can show more than their ability to deal with disappointment. The umpires aren't trying to qualify for more prestigious tournament. The girls sure as hell are though. With the time restrictions that dictate end of game, one blown call at the wrong time can be potentially huge. Umps need to stop hiding behind their masks, and sack up as often as possible. That is all anyone is asking of them. Be professional professionals, regardless of the entity that issues the paycheck.
I wish my daddy made a highlight video of every bad call an umpire made on me to post on RUclips. Unfortunately, he knew that umpires making bad calls is part of the game.
Bad umpires making bad calls is part of the game, since they are the only professionals on earth that are never to be held accountable, or expected to learn ways to improve their ability to perform the job they are paid to do. These calls all had one thing in common. Lazy, umpires that cared not to get into proper position according to game play. They simply stood, and waited for the game to happen no matter what view it bothered to leave them with.
I play travel softball. Once during a tournament our first baseman laid out for a ball and caught it face up. She even shot her glove into the air to prove she caught it. The umpire called it safe because her glove touched the ground even though the ball was in it.
I've had some awful Ump's when coaching. Still we have to remember they are flawed as are we. Appreciate that they are there to do a difficult job and talk to them as a human being. It goes better then coming out yelling and much more persuasive.
Glad to see girl that is in all of these videos is a good sport and didn't learn from whoever made this video, because it seems whoever recorded these videos has literally never umpired a game. Things move way to fast (notice they are in slow mo) for high school umpires to make an accurate call everytime. Welcome to every sport at every level. There will be missed calls and you will have to deal with them but shaming an ump on every call is ridiculous. This parent is one of those that wants a participation awards when their kid gets last. Take some notes from Emily and grow up.
Keep in mind that if you have to watch it more than once (never mind if you have to watch it in slomo) to decide, you wouldn't have done any better than the umps.
It's real easy to make the "right" call seeing these plays in slow motion stop action! As an umpire I can tell you positioning is important on getting the right angle to make a call but, in reality, things happen and sometimes you just get caught out of position on a bang bang play. I can easily see making each of these calls as they were made in the video. Despite some folks opinions, umpires, like coaches and players, are human too and do make mistakes. I couldn't tell if any of these guys were working with a partner but it always is smart to ask for help if you're not sure about a call. On the other hand, if I felt I got the call correct, I would tell the coach, it was my call and I don't feel I need to check.
As someone who’s been both an umpire and currently a rep coach (hardball) I absolutely can not stand when base coaches are making safe gestures on the field. Umpiring is a job of perspective in most cases. Anything in life where a human perspective is used there is bound to be mistakes.
The second one you can tell he is screened all he knows it that she touched the ball and can't tell when. Third one is a very close play and if you didn't slow mo it people in the comment section would be arguing if she was safe or out. Maybe play the full speed version before the slow mo or just play the full speed version. All of these happen in a split second. The umpires don't get slow mo or multiple angles. From this video it just shows that they are human and are clearly doing th best they can.
I love that these perfect parents felt the need to post videos of their perfect daughter making umpires look bad. I wonder why there is 225 open slots for next weekend games in the city I live.
I’m glad you go through game film to find every single thing wrong with it I am willing to put money that you wouldn’t get every call right if you were an umpire
A couple were bad calls I agree!! I’ve played many ball games were I knew either I got a bad call against me or my team and also got calls where I didn’t even tag a guy or even touch the base and the calls went in our teams favor!! Man when my boys get older I will not be a cry baby parent if anything I’m not going to let my boys be bullies on the field, only respectful of the game!!
Blue was way too close to make a proper call at third base. I pre-game with my partner that if he/she sees a dropped ball on my "out" call, they're to immediately come to me and ask: "Did you see her drop the ball?" I would then say "no" and correct the call.
This Emily Burrow person seems to be a master of sportsmanship. Not a single time did she dispute any of the calls the Umpires made, whether they are correct or not. Good on her!
Jordan they were all different people I think because they were different numbers but they were just filmed by Emily's Father
Kyle's Kards yeah I noticed different numbers, but the tags at the bottom say they're her. Figured different years
Way to turn a compliment on sportsmanship into something 100% irrelevant to the subject, but entirely innapropriate. Great work.
steve b because she doesnt fight the ump? its called being a good sport. you make no sense. shut your irrelevant ass up
It's not only good sportsmanship, it's also amazing game management skill. Let your coach argue the call. I find it interesting that all of the videos in this compilation are of my daughter, LOL, and I have NEVER put together a bad umpire call compilation video!
Jim Burrow Get it taken down for copyright like the Beatles do.
Your most popular video is titled "bad umpire call!?" So cal blah blah blah
Half your playlist from the last 4 years is "Bad umpire call..."
I don't disagree, what I said is that I have never made a compilation video of bad calls
I do have some, but not half by any stretch of the imagination. All I said is that I have never put together a bad call compilation video of multiple bad calls..
In every single one of these, the umpire failed and was in the wrong position to make the right call
INDEED!
Way to go Emily for keeping ur cool. I would have questioned the ump every time I was called out in these situations
What, you don't like Angel Hernandez? :-) Me either man!
That’s how it always goes with HS and College the umps are always in bad position. My fiancé was a college level player and it seemed like it happened every game. I’ve even seen a foul tip that a ump called a strike and the sound of the metal bat hitting the ball was “the sound of the ball hitting my padding” they’re so bad
unless you have umpired i wouldnt go by what a player says I've done both and its two different worlds
Poor Emily must've thought the umpiring world was against her. She took it well.
The first one was an ump failure, he was way out of position (and judging by his body language, he knew it as soon as the play came his way)
The out at first called safe, I have can see how the base ump missed it, but there is no reason the plate ump who was up the line and had full view of all four elements shrugged off the base ump asking for help.
He was totally out of position............on the first call.
It’s not all that easy maybe try it for yourself it’s harder than it looks
Was just going to make same comment....biggest issue is out of position umpires even if you get the call wrong be in the right spot.
It is not the end of the world when an ump misses a call. In fact it has always been a part of the game and most other games as well.
None of these were bang bang
Never in my life have I ever, EVER, seen a Dad/Mom/Coach/Assistant Coach make a mistake ever.
waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah
Bang bang plays ARE tough. Fortunately, none of these were.
Not when it"s that bad, a friggin 2 year old could of made those calls.
D Martins put your money where your mouth is then. Sign up to be an umpire and never make a bad call. Be part of the solution or shut your mouth.
In the first clip if I was the catcher I would be like “I never tagged her honestly.” Lol
Eh. Even the major leaguers do that. It’s about letting the imo do his job. If he missed the call it’s his problem.
Thanks for being honest and even putting the ones for her in there
Let me know where you're umpiring you're next game and I'll come film you.
they don't have the stones
mlampson38 its like i always say, you want your umpires to miss less calls? pay for more umpires.
In no play shown here on this video did the amount of umpires covering the girls softball game make a difference.
Swordsfor200Alex The 2nd one in the video where the bunted ball hits her when shes still in the box. An umpire at first might catch that.
Bruh...these Umps are taking the Bird Box Challange.
Ha, the catcher was a fucking cars length away from tagging the runner in the first video.
Jeremy Snyder yup
If umpires keeps making bad calls I would stop the game and walk out until umpires listen and get their eye checked
Good calls blue.. might not get them all right..but thanks for trying
2:19 how tf you gonna blame that on the ump it was so close
Yeah she was safe
Landn Gaming agree
She's out by a step .
Pulled foot .
The foot was never on the base too.
I have a terrible umpire most of the time too and she’s pretty much always wrong. So is her mom.
As a fan I understand how frustrating it is when obvious calls are missed, but as an umpire I understand how impossible it is to get everything right based on what it’s actually like to stand there and try to get a view of the play. The view from these cameras are perfect, but so often your field of vision is blocked and you have to operate with what limited visual data you have
Tennis and golf are the only sports where sportsmanship still matters. We make our own calls as we see it and live with that call.
why are all these about Emily burrow
Shawna James ik all it shows is her getting screwed over
I know it’s stupid
Shawna James Probably her psychotic father. He probably makes her watch the slow-mo replays.
Because her parents are crybabies
Because emily burrows dad has way too much time on his hands.
This video should be called the “haunting of Emily Burrow.” Nice job by Emily keeping her cool in the midst of three blown calls by the umpire.
It's unfortunate that parents, who have likely never umpired a game in their lives, see the need to post videos of missed calls.
I agree, I'm currently an umpire and nobody realizes how fast the game is going and that there's no perfect angle for a call.
Our motto is "If you don't see it - you can't call it". That would have fixed a couple of these nasty horrible calls
Brendan McCulloch Well it fucks it up for a player or for a team so you should probably work on your calls lol
The third call especially those are the ones where you get half and half reactions no matter what
Madison Proteccmyidentity true
It’s so sad to see these umpires making these mistakes even with the recordings that’s why I think games should have more umpires
“With the help of slo-mo.. wish I had a slo-mo mode when I’m working the game,” Angel Hernandez
Sweet Jesus!! Please tell me these umpires have been suspended or fired!!
Jim Hayes some of these plays were close so they had to make a decision. Even if it’s not the right one they still needed to continue the game
@@iguess6474 well they should just make the right decision
Wes 4511 that’s not always the case
I truly believe that we are getting to the technological point where every sporting event can be digitally recorded and some sort of instant replay can be implemented. These calls are absolutely horrendous.
@@iguess6474 that's the problem. They can't make correct calls.
Poor Emily, she has to go home to this psychotic cameraman and watch slow-mo replays.
These are get the game over calls
sometimes umpires make mistakes, remember everyone does make mistakes, umpires take time out of their day to make sure the kids get a game
Omg🤣
Russ Hill I know right
Second one was actually right.
Who cares it’s softball
JRC Games obviously you or you wouldn’t be watching it
You’re the one who plays call of duty so I wouldn’t be talking
Did anyone see the cake on #22 (0:59)??? Damn🍑👀
Jar Jar Binks Jr. dead ass lmao
Jar Jar Binks Jr. Yea 🍑🍑🍑🍑
which one lol
My man
Galaxy Attackz the one swinging the bat
Calm your shit
They're not all high school games. Most were travel ball tournaments. Some travel sanctioning bodies have better umpires than others.
Be professional professionals, regardless of the entity that issues the paycheck.
really? nice to have the advantage of knowing a bad call is coming up and slow motion replay
I can't believe how much laundry is not being washed and sandwiches not being made during this video!
I play travel softball. Once during a tournament our first baseman laid out for a ball and caught it face up. She even shot her glove into the air to prove she caught it. The umpire called it safe because her glove touched the ground even though the ball was in it.
As an Umpire myself all these calls could have been avoided have the umpires taking the right position / angle.
I've had some awful Ump's when coaching. Still we have to remember they are flawed as are we. Appreciate that they are there to do a difficult job and talk to them as a human being. It goes better then coming out yelling and much more persuasive.
My god....i thought these kinds of bad calls were only legend and fantasy
Glad to see girl that is in all of these videos is a good sport and didn't learn from whoever made this video, because it seems whoever recorded these videos has literally never umpired a game. Things move way to fast (notice they are in slow mo) for high school umpires to make an accurate call everytime. Welcome to every sport at every level. There will be missed calls and you will have to deal with them but shaming an ump on every call is ridiculous. This parent is one of those that wants a participation awards when their kid gets last. Take some notes from Emily and grow up.
The umpire doesn't have the privilege of slow motion or instant replay
All I know is if Emily Burrow is on the field, there's about to be a bad call
Wow great memories, umpires make a call coaches get mad
Keep in mind that if you have to watch it more than once (never mind if you have to watch it in slomo) to decide, you wouldn't have done any better than the umps.
Some of the plays are bang bang......"thank god for technology" to call out people that are trying their best....
The couch-critics with super slo-mo replay get it right every time.
Just as I suspected...all of the umpires have a nationwide vendetta against Emily Burrow.
As someone who’s been both an umpire and currently a rep coach (hardball) I absolutely can not stand when base coaches are making safe gestures on the field. Umpiring is a job of perspective in most cases. Anything in life where a human perspective is used there is bound to be mistakes.
wish parents that have the access to replays come out and try umpiring a game, see how easy it is
That first call though. That ump was so blind, the catcher didn't even tag the runner.
Still better than Angel Hernandez !
It’s so great to have a video that you can look over and replay things. Trying making the call in real time
This is why those umps will never get called up to the Majors.
That is why you need to ask the ump if he needs windex for his glass eye.
I like how the girls just accept the bad calls without getting upset. I couldn’t be that way.
I legit have to deal with these terrible umpires all the time. I relate with this video
When you play ANY game that requires a REF or UMP........make sure you know where they live!!
i mean the umpires don't have the luxury of super slow motion, some of these are just petty
I’m glad you go through game film to find every single thing wrong with it I am willing to put money that you wouldn’t get every call right if you were an umpire
This video should be renamed "Emily Burrow is a glitch in the matrix and is followed by a black cloud."
Should be re-named Emily Burrow Compilation.. Whose the creeper that put this together?
First one, that ump dont need glasses, he needs a seeing eye dog.
Evidently when Emily Burrow is involved a bad call is coming.
The 3rd base men number three acted like she didn’t drop it, that’s so messed up
Just a simple answer, they all graduated the *angel hernandez umpiring school*
These umpires get paid $8/hr, what do you expect...
Lucas-they get paid per game. So like 1 game is like 15 bucks
Most of these calls would have been avoided if the umpire was in a better position to see the play
This video is basically calling out Emily burrow
All of them girls had the same name, that's dope.
Blue was way too close to make a proper call at third base. I pre-game with my partner that if he/she sees a dropped ball on my "out" call, they're to immediately come to me and ask: "Did you see her drop the ball?" I would then say "no" and correct the call.
Funny that the players never give the umps any shit. I was always going off at the ump when they fuck up lol
Most of these umps definitely graduated from the Angel Hernandez School of Umpiring.
People need to understand that umpires are not perfect their human and most people have never umpired a game in there life so they can't complain
The umpires need to watch this. Maybe it would help.
Wow. It almost seems like a conspiracy against miss Burrows to have that many bad calls happen to one player
Sometimes the umps are ready to go home. Sad but true.
