The most important thing I learned when my son was in Little League (and I learned it the easy way) is that the bat doesn’t matter if you aren’t hitting the ball. So he used a $30 bat, we worked on his mechanics and he started making good contact. The following year I bought one of those $300 bats used for about $150 and from my experience it turned his singles into doubles and his doubles into triples and he got his first (and only HR) that year also. My advice to parents of young hitters would be: Mechanics first and foremost and once they start hitting consistently that a more expensive bat DOES help.
Riiight? Like, if you don't know to hit with any bat in the few inches of the bat that are optimal (sweet spot) and are able to adjust to the pitch's location enough to give yourself a chance at the barrel? You'll break a $300 bat as well as a $50 if you don't. And if you know the spot, either bat will give you the same outcome 75% of the time. What a crock,!! I played in and around Chattanooga for about 25 years from the 70s thru the 90s. We hit tons of homers with cheap aluminum hats. That's all we had. We also used 48 core balls. Most fences were ,275-300 ft. It ain't all in the bat.
Awesome vids Morgan. My 8 y/o daughter Morgan (sorry not named after you, but I can lie going forward as say she is) plays travel softball. She is not a big girl, but she has the fundamentals in place, and technique. She is NOT a power hitter by any means but she is a great contact hitter. We moved her from her aluminum bat about 6 months ago to a two piece composite and it made a big difference. Now when she connects it does go further and she is feeling a lot better about herself on that field. I'm still waiting on that HR but I know it will come one day. Basically, bat DOES make a difference......along with the athlete. Love the vids, keep it up.
It’s great that she’s starting young! Tip… I will be posting full tutorials on hitting techniques- including maximizing your power, in case that is something that would interest her.
Every person that buys the $500 bat thinks it’ll fix their awful swing. My daughter has a high end bat. But she only got it after she hit multiple balls game after game into the outfield with a $60 bat. Now she hits home runs every game.
You proved you have a great swing when you hit balls blindfolded. Being able to repeat that swing is an advantage. Your skills are unquestioned. Got my granddaughter an Easton Ghost, the $400 version. She’s a big strong U-12 and the pop off the bat, compared to her old Easton Topaz Aluminum has convinced me it was worth the money for the upgrade. She still has a lot to learn. She has the strength but needs to get the swing mechanics down, like you have to take full advantage of the composite Ghost.
We recently upgraded from an Easton topaz to a Rawlings mantra 2.0 my daughter was hitting doubles and triples with her Easton first game of the season with her new bat home run! The aluminum bats are great for learning proper swing technique but if they want to be a great hitter the bat really does matter in the end!
The sad thing to me is cheap bats today vs cheap bats of yesterday, I guarantee you would do better with a cheap 80's era aluminum bat, then a cheap aluminum bat now. The premium bats now may be better then the premium bats then, but the cheap bats then were nicer then the cheap bats now. My older aluminum bats that are rounded on the end also don't make this annoying after the hit ringing sound. They definitely ring, but it has a solid stop and not that horrible lingering sound at the end these newer bats make. hard to explain. I'll still take a wooden bat over aluminum any day for a game. They also still have the most satisfying sound. Light aluminum for practice, heavier wood for play. Obviously there's some composite bats that will hit it further but also not legal in most leagues. But that is just my pure amateur for fun batting opinion.....
I have a 350 dollar bat, the Rawling Mantra, drop 10 31 inch, and it's works amazingly, I did have a 400 dollar Easton Ghost Advanced, but my Mantra works way better, I feel like it's more quality than how much money you spend
I played baseball my whole life growing up till i graduated college and my coaches would say in every level it’s not the bat it’s the batter, they taught and taught and taught how to be a better hitter with whatever bat you got in high school I had a sponsorship for a certain companies and i started using there best bats man it was like night and day! Those expensive bats give you so much more then those cheaper aluminum bats that cause ear loss
Such a difference in power levels from men to women. In the early 1970's I used to hit 400 feet homers with a $35.00 Kmart bat. I played tournament ball on all the great teams, Coors, Bud, Worth Bats, Easton bats, etc. Those were great times, we would get first class plane tickets to the tourney location, a glove, couple jackets, bats, some experimental and $200.00 spending money for "Expenses"... lol If your homer did not clear the fence by at least 50 feet, then everyone would ask you what happened.... lol Back then, I wrestled heavyweight in college wrestling, bench pressed 450 pounds, did 70 sit-ups and 70 good push-ups in one minute. Most of us could throw a strike to home plate from 300 feet away and run a 10.3 hundred yard dash. - The retired accountant
It really comes down to the hitter and their mechanics. If they don't have good fundamentals then the bat is almost irrelevant. Yeah sure hitting a composite bat will help with some power gains but it will be inconsistent. I see it all the time in my nieces games as well as in my adult slowpitch games. Fundamentals are the most important part of hitting. One of the guys on my men's team is all upper body and he hits dingers a few times a season. When he finally gets his fundamentals down and incorporates his lower body those few times a season are going to become a more regular thing. One of our local HS ballplayers is a defensive baller. At the plate though she lacks solid fundamentals. She should be a much better fundamental hitter because of all the years she's played but all her coaches figured it would work itself out. Now comparing aluminum to composite is really comparing apples to oranges. I'd say compare 3 different aluminum bats from different price points and 3 different composite bats from different price points and that's where you'll see the difference. You are doing great things here with your channel. Keep up the good work and I look forward to more content.
The only variable acknowledged in the title is the $... But your experiment in action contained many more, due to your personal variables... You use the last bat more often, if not all the time, therefore your comfort level and muscle memory would be much more in tune for better results... You stated at the end of bat #2 that you were trying not to swing "all out," but then said that you are going to start swinging with entire shoulder and body... And since nobody is perfect, your swings also resulted in different contact points on each ball hit, which as you know, makes a big difference... The #2 bat, which was a -13, was also a different size bat, according to your reaction when you noticed that it was a -13... I think the best point you made was when you recognized that at younger ages, players grow out of their gear yearly, meaning that a good balance between proper fit, weight, and $ would be best... I enjoy experimenting quite a bit too... Recognizing and Isolating Variables Is Paramount For An Accurate Experiment...js
Also not acknowledged is that you’re comparing aluminum bats to a broken-in composite bat. Of course the more expensive composite is going to be better.
If she had to hit with the bats that we used back in the 70s and early 80s she would not be putting them over the fence. Truth is so much is in the equipment. Not the hitters today.
I grew up playing baseball. One of the teams I played for was a summer league high school team. No one cared. It was just something to do in the evenings. We didn't have real coaches and everyone played out of position just for fun. I experimented with a different bat every time I got to the plate. I found that the bat didn't matter. Some of the best hits I got were from the cheaper bats. They felt more natural to me.
I haven’t played baseball since I was in high school, 40 years ago. You know what bat I used as a kid? The free one they gave away at the Dodger game. Yeah, they used to give kids full sized little league bats as giveaway’s at games. A year or so later I got one at a Angels game. 😂😂😂 First time seeing one of your videos. I love your personal energy, zest.

The best bat is the one you're comfortable with...I had my now 7 year old daughter pick out the bat that felt best to her...I've got a tee and net set up in our basement (we live in Maine long cold winters) and she will spend a half hour to an hour hitting balls into the net with me, mom or her oldest sister several times a week.
My 14yo uses the Easton Amethyst. She's been told that I wasn't going to drop $$ for Jr high club ball, but hs ball will get her a "better" bat. She was using an Easton Sapphire (-10) last year and our hitting coach told her she needed a -11 instead. Next year is freshman year, so a new bat will be in her future.
They actually get better when it's colder. Just remember girls were hitting HR using alloy bats years ago. It's all about the hitter. Alloy actually flexes more than carbon and can actually hit a ball farther than carbon with live pitching.
Thing is that you are using a $500 bat, yes, but it is also broken in. Bats generally get better as you use them. So those first two bats should ideally have as much play as the $500 one has had.
1. Thank you for the demonstration; 2. I believe mechanics comes first; 3. Could you or anyone help me understand why and how a good, better bat performs better? Is it the material? Weight? How is it better?
Loved the video! Your great! $500 bat with a $10 swing is going to get you a dime's worth of distance! Or only impress the banker not the pitcher :) Or look good in the dugout but not in the batters box!
I agree! A girl on my travel team (her dad is the coach) he bought her a 500$ bat but it’s illegal in tournaments and can’t use it! Btw I love softball
I used to use an Easton bat when I first started. It always made a lot of noise and it was so annoying, I couldn't even hit it that hard. I got an Axe bat and it made NO noise, and it was heavier leading to a further hit. We recently found out it had cracked right before my game. Friday night, we put our bats out so the umpire can check them, it has 2 cracks. I don't know when and how that happened, but it may have been because of either the batting cages the night before or the heavy balls we use before games. Anyone that has an Axe bat, PLEASE use another bat unless you are hitting a real softball (on the tee or during a game.) or hitting wiffle balls. It's not worth the risk, I can promise you that. My dad recently ordered one though so i'm only going to use that during games and then a cheaper one during practice!
How many times did you say, "I'm not gonna lie" in this video.... Lol 😂 Hey,have you done a video on all the songs/chants that the softball players sing in the dugout to psyche out the other team ? That'd be a cool video
If you pop up the ball someone's going to catch it. They just play you in closer if you can't hit it further. So the better bat will open up the field for you. Plus all your other hits will be faster and harder to get to and catch.
I have the Mizuno CRBN 2 bat, it’s awesome, I was never one of the best hitters in my team but since I got it I’ve been working it in and it is great and I have been hitting outfield doubles rather than ground balls to third or first and getting thrown out
The way she said at 7:25 "What happened " Got me so goofed out. I am so god this girl is on youtube. you rock Like I would not buy a 500 Dollar bat but if you give it to me, HECK ya I would use it. And I play baseball so if you give that to me. We will win EVERY game Not to lie. Hope you have a good rest of your night/day and yea. Morgan you are the best player ever. I cannot even hit it over the fence for me Lol like....... You are good and every time I watch you got me thinking of I should do baseball more. I alr am playing flag football this year so I like to keep me limited to what I play and the max for me is 2. I love your vidoe's keep up the great work Morgan!
Some of these bats are crazy. When my oldest was still in Little League, those hot composite bats were still legal. When I would hit infield/outfield to the team, I ended up resorting to bring an old aluminum bat because I would literally keep hitting them out with one arm and a half speed swing with the bats those kids were using. They were that hot. I guarantee you got some flush shots with that $50 bat that would have been gone with that Ghost. It's a bit sad to see just how much further carry $500 will buy you and how dead those $50 bats are. You wonder if it's just because it's cheap. Or if it's also just designed to be that dead on purpose to push you to upgrade.
My team for baseball swings Nothing but Demarini aluminum, and for baseball, it's a mix of Demarini composite and Easton composite ranging from 79 up to 549 dollars
Ugh, just the sound of the aluminum bats hurt, however when I played baseball I could send it yard with any bat. I had once on a bet used a bat day bat to hit one over the fence. Granted it was a little league park there was a lot of beer and so many tries.
Morgan I want to see you take a wood bat and hit some baseballs because your swing is amazing. If you decide to do that I recommend trying a flared that handle and then a Axe bat handle to see which

I absolutely love your videos and how much work and dedication you put into them❤
Every person that buys the $500 bat thinks it’ll fix their awful swing. My daughter has a high end bat. But she only got it after she hit multiple balls game after game into the outfield with a $60 bat. Now she hits home runs every game.
The Dimarini double wall extreme distance was an awesome bat. I liked the blue TPS and the Steele bats as well.
My daughter’s favorite bat. She had to use a Mizuno at university last year. She hated it. Now she’s transferred and can use her Ghost.
Have no idea who or what your channel is all about!? But you made me laugh with the “who better” line 🍻I liked and subscribed
Very entertaining! Some of the bats are very expensive. My daughter plays travel ball. The expensive bats make a difference.
Thanks for the video.
I still love my old DeMarini Fatboy!
The sound of the first two bats was crazy
Those were great times, we would get first class plane tickets to the tourney location, a glove, couple jackets, bats, some experimental and $200.00 spending money for "Expenses"... lol
If your homer did not clear the fence by at least 50 feet, then everyone would ask you what happened.... lol
Back then, I wrestled heavyweight in college wrestling, bench pressed 450 pounds, did 70 sit-ups and 70 good push-ups in one minute. Most of us could throw a strike to home plate from 300 feet away and run a 10.3 hundred yard dash.

I’d almost buy the $500 one just because it sounds nice compared to the cheaper ones
Another factor is ball hardness. The harder the ball, the farther it will go!
You even put it over when you missed it!! Lol great vid!
If she had to hit with the bats that we used back in the 70s and early 80s she would not be putting them over the fence. Truth is so much is in the equipment. Not the hitters today.
Your form and technic are incredible...loved watching your beautiful swing
The Storm is used a ton right now in 8U-10U rec ball.
I also play softball to and I enjoy all of your video!!!
First time seeing one of your videos. I love your personal energy, zest.
Noone fives a darn about what you did in little league baseball in the 1800s this is about current softball bats.
@@dominickcoppola8249 thanks for letting you know you can’t spell, do simple math and don’t know the history of little league. Thanks again I love a good laugh.
@Lokahi-fo-life Yeah, his spelling is wrong, but maybe his mistake is a typo. On the other hand, your sentence structure is awful. I'd like to see you diagram your sentence. Did you really mean to say "you" and not "us?"
Can you make a catcher video? Love your channel. Hope you had a good Christmas!
Great form and wow! She is well built!
They actually get better when it's colder. Just remember girls were hitting HR using alloy bats years ago. It's all about the hitter. Alloy actually flexes more than carbon and can actually hit a ball farther than carbon with live pitching.
Love your videos!! Hope you had a nice Christmas!! :)))) ❤😊
and here i grew up playing with a glove and bat from target, when it used to be cheap, and kmart lol
With the change in softballs you don't need a $500 bat but it should be composite. There are sites that sell big name bats for around 200
My daughter has outgrown 3 bats in 1.5 seasons until she slows the grow cheaper bats been working great for her.
Thank you so much for showing me what different bats can do
Thing is that you are using a $500 bat, yes, but it is also broken in. Bats generally get better as you use them. So those first two bats should ideally have as much play as the $500 one has had.
Oh I love your shorts !
The $50 bat is literally the bat I use🤣🤣🤣
Me too😭
1. Thank you for the demonstration; 2. I believe mechanics comes first; 3. Could you or anyone help me understand why and how a good, better bat performs better? Is it the material? Weight? How is it better?
Good form and superb swing. Minnesota is far away so I'll watch posted videos when games begin
Loved the video! Your great! $500 bat with a $10 swing is going to get you a dime's worth of distance! Or only impress the banker not the pitcher :) Or look good in the dugout but not in the batters box!
I love your videos, you are so good at teaching about softball ❤
You get a thumbs up just for the well played inclusion of "Careless Whisper" LOL
Not me having the 50$ one-
I agree! A girl on my travel team (her dad is the coach) he bought her a 500$ bat but it’s illegal in tournaments and can’t use it! Btw I love softball
This girl lowkey intimidates me props to your vids
The first bat is the exact same bat that I have lmao👍
I love all your silly videos . I'm going to see if you can do a review on . DeMarini Zenith Fastpitch Bat (-13)
Loved this video. My daughter loves the limited bats. But she likes the black one
I'm a huge fan of your tiktoks!
Thank you Morgan! Great content!
Hey Morgan!! Love the tiktoks keep up the good work
I feel it would have been a better test if you had someone pitching to you.
Check out this formula about the relationship between mass and velocity:.
(1/2 x mass) velocity*2
1/2 the mass times velocity squared
Morgan!? You're just a stud girl💪💪😉😍 (That's a compliment, from a man, for the haters lol) It's not the bat, it's the batter😎
How many times did you say, "I'm not gonna lie" in this video.... Lol 😂
Hey,have you done a video on all the songs/chants that the softball
players sing in the dugout to psyche out the other team ? That'd be a cool video
i often use the quote, its the fiddler not the fiddle. But at times, the bat does make the difference.
The cheaper bat is probably the way to go for someone who's more of a slap hitter. The extra pop would probably result in more flyouts.
If you pop up the ball someone's going to catch it. They just play you in closer if you can't hit it further.
So the better bat will open up the field for you. Plus all your other hits will be faster and harder to get to and catch.
I have the Mizuno CRBN 2 bat, it’s awesome, I was never one of the best hitters in my team but since I got it I’ve been working it in and it is great and I have been hitting outfield doubles rather than ground balls to third or first and getting thrown out
Nice video! Love your content. Just curious on how many feet past the other balls did the $500 back go?
You should do a video of have to break in a glove
On the first vid that I watched of yours I said I love your channel
I love your accent, where are you from?
My team for baseball swings Nothing but Demarini aluminum, and for baseball, it's a mix of Demarini composite and Easton composite ranging from 79 up to 549 dollars
Well it seems if you have that 50$ bat you aren’t hitting nothing out. 😂
That batter has some scary guns! I couldn't stand spending that much time in a weight room.
Somebody do all us a solid and DROP THE @!!! 👀
and on a tee too! wow, thats awesome
Ugh, just the sound of the aluminum bats hurt, however when I played baseball I could send it yard with any bat. I had once on a bet used a bat day bat to hit one over the fence. Granted it was a little league park there was a lot of beer and so many tries.
I have the $50 bat I’m in 12u and it works really good for me personally but idk for other people
Exactly. Yes, a 10 yo should not have a $500 bat but I can agree that a high school athlete can move up in quality.
Goated video🔥🔥
Aye thanks Stephen!
Morgan I want to see you take a wood bat and hit some baseballs because your swing is amazing.
If you decide to do that I recommend trying a flared that handle and then a Axe bat handle to see which
Yeah.. dead fish composite sound. So great....
im sorry really random but this is why we should have major league softball
Fr
Reminds me of the manly softball player I used to hit dingers with
