There are hundreds of girls her age, over her age, and below her age that throw strikes. If we continue to beg society to acknowledge the greatness of female athletes we will never reach the level we want for our girls. The boys failed and that's awesome.
Having played Baseball from kindergarten to High school ,I have to say all these young athletes are very talented and exceptional at the game .. Very impressive , much LOVE !!!

Softball is way easier than baseball. But at the same time a lot harder for baseball players. There are two different release points for these sports. When you have a softball player pitching to a baseball player it's inverting the release point for the baseball player. If you gave that boy an hour in the cage hitting softballs he would adapt to the inverted release point making it easier for him to hit but softball, on the other hand, softball would be different because not only is the release inverted the ball is smaller and has more spin. Making it much harder for even a softball player who is used to baseball to hit. Another indicator is the fields themselves. 11u baseball teams play on fields the size of your avg softball field. If anything a proper comparison would be LLWS vs Softball because there are more similarities between the two.

If the boys had never seen an underhand pitch before it would be too much to get used to - heck the King of Courts struck out three all stars from baseball back I think in the 60s - he was a fastball softball pitcher. The thing I noted was the first kid actually had the right timing just swung under the ball which makes sense as the ball would rise instead of fall.

I grew up on men's fastpitch softball in the late 70's and early 80's. We didn't have Little League at that time. The high school we went to had a VERY good varsity women's fast pitch team, ranked in the top 10 in the state. The varsity softball coach challenged us to a scrimmage- we were 9th and 10th graders at the time going up against Juniors and Seniors. The game wasn't even close. The girls could not even touch our pitcher, who was throwing low to mid 70's underhand, and we destroyed their pitcher, who threw low to mid 60's. Our #4 hitter could hit over 300 ft and most of the boys team could hit well beyond their 225 ft fence.
This is when you ask for 3 or so pitches to bunt so you can actually recognize the ball for the first time ever. Because looking at a ball coming up instead of downwards is different than normal. Honestly I probably wouldn’t hit to well the first time, but give me 2 weeks and it’d be easy

Men's base ball is harder than women's baseball. He couldn't hit the ball because women softball players throw the ball underhand, which means the ball has to travel up to the hitters box. In men's baseball, the pitchers throw overhand, which means the ball falls into the hitters box. You have to account for this small change in pitch or else it will be harder to hit.

My son's Legion team played a double header against the city softball team. It was the middle of game 2 before they figured out the pitching, and they split the two games. It was fun, and their eyes were opened to softball skills.

As a softball, and a baseball player. I can say that these two games are almost completely different, especially from the way the ball is pitched in both games. So it is understandable that these boys are having trouble hitting the ball, when the girls will most likely do the same thing.
As a girl myself who has been in a variety of sports, volleyball, swimming, dance, softball, etc. I can let you all know that softball and baseball are two completely different sports with different release points. Baseball players wether you’re a guy or a girl will have a hard time hitting a softball fast pitch with no experience hitting underhand pitches, hence why these boys had a hard time. You can’t exactly defy the laws of science and say that women are stronger than men when it comes to anything in the sports realm, yes you can be the best in your division but never in both as they are both drastically different half the time, an example would be gymnastics, for females it’s meant to show off grace and balance, while for males it’s meant to show off strength and force. If you told a male gymnast to tumble as a female, they would have a hard time, if you told a female gymnast to do the hoops, they would have a hard time. Hence why you can be the best in your division and not both, males are just scientifically proven to have bigger bones, organs and muscle mass, while women have more fat deposits, wider hips, and narrow shoulders, a female softball player even with a lifetime of experience would not make it in the baseball realm, or male softball realm, it is not hate or sexism, it is pure facts so if you could please stop getting into wars about how men are salty over a girl beating you a boy, no one is salty, just tryna let you know you sound dense and ignorant because you’re basically implying a female can beat a male, which would not be the case if both were trained in the SAME sport.

I am a 13u pitcher that throws 70 mph from a major league mound. This definetly looks harder considering the fact that it is already hard to hit a 70 mph ball from 60ft 6in and to move it closer would be impossible to hit. Boys, softball is a whole different world to what we are used to seeing. It's harder I think.
I've coached both for years. Just requires a bit of adjusting for the boys to pick up the different angle and speed. One of the first times I caught a fastpitch softball player I was amazed at the differences. Took a minute or two to get comfortable with it. First time at any sport or change in the sport usually takes adjustment

I've hit balls off baseball pitchers and I've played baseball my whole life and learned how to pitch over hand. I play softball now cause im in highschool and i didn't think they'd let me play baseball but also some of my friends were in the program.
Part I find funny is how people don’t understand that that the pitches are completely different, in baseball the ball goes downward and the swing even goes upward, while for softball the pitch actually goes up and they swing downwards

Jay Yaboi Ahh, so maybe the fact that hitters from regular baseball struggle hitting a bigger ball suggests that there is a HUGE difference in ball movement. A traditional ball player never deals with a rising ball and rarely ever one with a "topspin". The ball movement is vastly different between the sports, both of which the players have to predict where the ball will end up. So taking a player from one sport to the other will always result in that person hitting miserably simply for the fact that they will try to judge the ball based on the experience from their sport. Its similar to saying that American Football players should find Rugby easy since the ball is bigger.

Never know what's going to be thrown at you. Softball is just as hard as baseball. Girls are hitting 60 + mph balls closer than boys...much shorter reaction time, got to think fast..
Your math is flawed there. They're hitting 60 mph at a closer distance but it evens out when you think about the fact Baseball is further distance but nearer to 100 mph. It ends up somewhat evening out when it comes to reaction time and thinking fast. Also the reason is because Baseball players are ofc going to have some problems hitting a softball, different dimensions, different speeds, etc.

I've coached both. Played bb through college. Like anything else it just takes a bit of adjustment. The distance is different and the ball movement is not the same as a bb coming in from 60'. Even warming up the pitcher from a coach's perspective is different. It would be something like lowering the basketball goal from 10' to 9'. It would take adjustment to get used to it

For everyone claiming "sexism" regarding guys being better than girls, it's just a fact of life that guys are biologically designed to be stronger/faster/etc than girls on average. If you think that girls are just as capable as guys, then a) let's stop segregating sports based on sex (and don't complain when the vast majority of women aren't able to out-perform the men) and b) check the world records in Olympic sports: the men's records are better than the women's in almost every competition.

Give them some practice. trying practicing for softball all your life then all of a sudden go and try to make a hit from a baseball pitcher. Won't be easy if you didn't practice for it.

I used to watch the Raybestos Brakettes in Stratford, CT. I also had the privilege of being there for the only season of the Prindle Royals in Stratford. There isn't a boy on here who could have hit off of Debbie Day or most of the Brakettes' great pitchers. The ball was a blurr whizzing by.

It's quite simple really. Both sports come at different angles of pitching and hitting and fielding aswell. Both are entirely different worlds so there is nothing to expect of a baseball player swinging against a softball player for the 1st time or vice versa. Both are hardwired to play their specific sport so they naturally cannot adjust. Given time though we might see a different outcome and perhaps one side would win as adjustments are made.
I have two daughters, one in fast pitch softball, and this makes no sense. The style of pitch is different. You don't prove anything by making boys feel any less to girls. It's like making softball girls try to hit baseball's pitched at them by boys and then down talking them in front of a crowd. Look at the size of the girls compared to the boys. At that age girls have hit their growth spurts and are more developed physically, and probably mentally. Men's base ball is harder than women's baseball. He couldn't hit the ball because women softball players throw the ball underhand, which means the ball has to travel up to the hitters box. In men's baseball, the pitchers throw overhand, which means the ball falls into the hitters box. You have to account for this small change in pitch or else it will be harder to hit.

My son's Legion team played a double header against the city softball team. It was the middle of game 2 before they figured out the pitching, and they split the two games. It was fun, and their eyes were opened to softball skills.
I've seen many girls hit baseballs in a baseball setting and many boys hit softballs in a softball setting.

As a softball, and a baseball player. I can say that these two games are almost completely different, especially from the way the ball is pitched in both games. So it is understandable that these boys are having trouble hitting the ball, when the girls will most likely do the same thing.

As a girl myself who has been in a variety of sports, volleyball, swimming, dance, softball, etc. I can let you all know that softball and baseball are two completely different sports with different release points. Baseball players wether you’re a guy or a girl will have a hard time hitting a softball fast pitch with no experience hitting underhand pitches, hence why these boys had a hard time. You can’t exactly defy the laws of science and say that women are stronger than men when it comes to anything in the sports realm, yes you can be the best in your division but never in both as they are both drastically different half the time, an example would be gymnastics, for females it’s meant to show off grace and balance, while for males it’s meant to show off strength and force. If you told a male gymnast to tumble as a female, they would have a hard time, if you told a female gymnast to do the hoops, they would have a hard time. Hence why you can be the best in your division and not both, males are just scientifically proven to have bigger bones, organs and muscle mass, while women have more fat deposits, wider hips, and narrow shoulders, a female softball player even with a lifetime of experience would not make it in the baseball realm, or male softball realm, it is not hate or sexism, it is pure facts so if you could please stop getting into wars about how men are salty over a girl beating you a boy, no one is salty, just tryna let you know you sound dense and ignorant because you’re basically implying a female can beat a male, which would not be the case if both were trained in the SAME sport.

I am a 13u pitcher that throws 70 mph from a major league mound. This definetly looks harder considering the fact that it is already hard to hit a 70 mph ball from 60ft 6in and to move it closer would be impossible to hit. Boys, softball is a whole different world to what we are used to seeing. It's harder I think.

I've coached both for years. Just requires a bit of adjusting for the boys to pick up the different angle and speed. One of the first times I caught a fastpitch softball player I was amazed at the differences. Took a minute or two to get comfortable with it. First time at any sport or change in the sport usually takes adjustment

Ahh, so maybe the fact that hitters from regular baseball struggle hitting a bigger ball suggests that there is a HUGE difference in ball movement. A traditional ball player never deals with a rising ball and rarely ever one with a "topspin".
The ball movement is vastly different between the sports, both of which the players have to predict where the ball will end up. So taking a player from one sport to the other will always result in that person hitting miserably simply for the fact that they will try to judge the ball based on the experience from their sport.
Its similar to saying that American Football players should find Rugby easy since the ball is bigger.

Whether it be softball or baseball...hitting a ball is hitting a ball. It's all about seeing it and timing it. Every pitcher pitches different and different speeds. Never know what's going to be thrown at you. Softball is just as hard as baseball. Girls are hitting 60 + mph balls closer than boys...much shorter reaction time, got to think fast..
Your math is flawed there. They're hitting 60 mph at a closer distance but it evens out when you think about the fact Baseball is further distance but nearer to 100 mph. It ends up somewhat evening out when it comes to reaction time and thinking fast. Also the reason is because Baseball players are ofc going to have some problems hitting a softball, different dimensions, different speeds, etc.

I've coached both. Played bb through college. Like anything else it just takes a bit of adjustment. The distance is different and the ball movement is not the same as a bb coming in from 60'. Even warming up the pitcher from a coach's perspective is different. It would be something like lowering the basketball goal from 10' to 9'. It would take adjustment to get used to it

If you think that girls are just as capable as guys, then a) let's stop segregating sports based on sex (and don't complain when the vast majority of women aren't able to out-perform the men) and b) check the world records in Olympic sports: the men's records are better than the women's in almost every competition.

Lol, the sport isn’t just hitting, I think you guys are just jealous that that one pitched is better than that boy. Being honest, as a good softball player, that boy was terrible. I go to my brother’s games and they are a lot better. For the video, they were overreacting. Any gender could be good at a sport if they wanted to. That being said, the boy may have some trouble, but in the end, these sports have a similar concept, hit a ball with a bat.

I used to watch the Raybestos Brakettes in Stratford, CT. I also had the privilege of being there for the only season of the Prindle Royals in Stratford. There isn't a boy on here who could have hit off of Debbie Day or most of the Brakettes' great pitchers. The ball was a blurr whizzing by.

It's quite simple really. Both sports come at different angles of pitching and hitting and fielding aswell. Both are entirely different worlds so there is nothing to expect of a baseball player swinging against a softball player for the 1st time or vice versa. Both are hardwired to play their specific sport so they naturally cannot adjust. Given time though we might see a different outcome and perhaps one side would win as adjustments are made.
I have two daughters, one in fast pitch softball, and this makes no sense. The style of pitch is different. You don't prove anything by making boys feel any less to girls. It's like making softball girls try to hit baseball's pitched at them by boys and then down talking them in front of a crowd. I understand that you want to prove to your daughter that they can be stronger and they can do anything a boy can. I get it. But your approach was wrong and your messing with kid's self esteem. Look at the size of the girls compared to the boys. At that age girls have hit their growth spurts and are more developed physically, and probably mentally. Give it 2 years and girls won't be able to compete.
