Our guys pitcher threw low 70's. We scored 12 runs on the girls in the 1st inning vs 3 straight strikeouts for the ladies. The game isn't always decided on how good the pitchers are, guys. C'mon. You need a good catcher, outfield, and infield. Pitchers get all the glory. (most of the time. Not trying to pick on pitchers).
Lol right, I'm a catcher and I have to frame the ball all the time... Yet the pitchers always get the "nice pitch". Not trying to complain... But it gets on my nerves sometimes...
I used to play what we call "fast ball", which looks like your "soft ball" except maybe the ball is smaller and harder, and I had a pretty good on base average (0.62). So someone asked me to come play for their "soft ball" team, which around here means the ball has to go way up in the air (I think you guys might call it "slow pitch"). Anyway I couldn't hit a damn thing. I was constantly swinging well before the ball got to the plate. You'd think that after learning how to hit a ball travelling 60+ mph it would be pretty easy to hit a big fat ball falling out of the sky but I couldn't. I hit one to the fence, struck out all the other times, and then was never asked to play again. So my experience would be that it isn't as easy to change up as one would think.
Is there any reason why girls can't play baseball? Girls in general have smaller hands, so why give them a LARGER ball to throw? And why make them throw it underhanded? Is there something in female anatomy that makes overhand throwing impractical? Baseball and softball are very similar, but playing baseball can lead to million dollar contracts. Playing softball doesn't! I'm not saying that women today are good enough to play Major League baseball. But playing baseball gives them a chance, while playing softball gives them NO CHANCE! But maybe that's the point of softball! Can someone explain to me why women are encouraged to play softball while men are encouraged to play baseball? Thanks.
This is what I've always said. On the surface, the two sports look the same so people naturally try to compare them, but they are just two completely different sports. And all these videos show is softball players are better at softball, and baseball players are better at baseball... Shocker!
aye this is all imma say... i’ve been playing softball for 10 years and i’m 14, i play select ball for one of the best teams in my state, and we travel around the country and play some of the best teams known. My family owns a softball/baseball complex and often times i practice with the baseball boys. i have, tried hitting off a 73mph 13 year old boy who was throwing strait gas, hardest shit i’ve ever seen. from going to hitting something at a different release point to that was next to impossible. I’ve also seen guys look like dumbasses tryna hit softball pitching. i’ve had this argument with so many people, and i believe softball and baseball have similar concepts, but such diverse techniques and fundemnetals that it’s hard to compare one another. if a guy learned how softball works, he’d be a fucking all star, if a girl learned how baseball works, she’d be a fucking all star however she most likely wouldn’t hit it as far as guys are averagely taller, heavier, and more muscular than girls due to genetic reasons. if you still wanna be a pussy and argue that one sport is better than the other and you have no factual information, keep on doin it. makes me chuckle 😂
I can agree with you more. I played a total of ten years of baseball as a catcher. So I saw my share of batters in baseball. But it also allows me to see some of the key differences between a baseball swing and softball swing. I have always wanted to try going against a softball pitcher both as a batter and just to catch for her to see how different it would be. Both are great sports that take a great amount of skill in order to be any good at.
If you haven't played both of these sports, meaning actually played on a team, you don't have a right to call out anything about the other sport. Noticed the Silver Bullets on ESPN later that year and they switched to playing the over 40 men.
Is batspeed an issue here? A baseball is tiny in comparison to a softball, the baseball pitcher is farther back, and of course the is ball velocity. That has to throw off the bat speed.
For all of you people saying that 81 is slow, there are MLB pitchers that throw about an 85 fastball, it’s just that it has a lot of movement. Moving fastballs are hard to hit no matter how fast it is.
Dude if a college baseball pitcher throws 81 and you still can’t hit it, and your batting average is twice as high as the boys, then there’s something wrong
It’s a lot different to go from hitting 60 mph fastballs to even 81 mph. The boys struck out from a girl throwing in the 50’s with a bigger ball I’d call that sad
well even if the girl is throwing 64 it doesnt look 64 when its that close. a 64 mph pitch is equivalent to a 92 mph pitch and if a girl can throw 70 at that distance its extrapolated to be 100 pmh
Maria M have you ever tried to hit a 39 mph baseball? If you have any hand eye coordination whatsoever, you will at least get the bat on it. 7 year olds throw 39! I don’t even think that a 39 mile per hour fastball from 60‘6” away would even make it to the plate
I’m just saying girls are used to the bigger ball to hit then a baseball in my opinion softballs are easier to hit because they’re bigger bc I’m a softball player and it’s just easier but both did great and both sports are cool
Was it just me or did it seem like the girls were pitching closer? Wasn’t really paying attention to their rules so it may have been described, kinda just wanted to see what people thought.
Ball is heavier, doesn't go as fast? The field is just smaller than a baseball field so it makes sense the distance to pitch from is shorter, but I guess that's why it's all around smaller.
I play both baseball and softball, and I loved them. It got hard to manage as I grew up, especially in juniors. They intimidated me so I stopped playing baseball. I still play softball, and it doesn't matter which one was better. I still woulda loved them regardless 😂😊
Juice 1. That was a scrimmage. In soccer, scrimmages are rough, but they are also kind of goof off have fun. 2. They were about to play the Russian women’s team for Olympic qualifiers, so obviously they weren’t going all that hard. 3. It was just a fun experience. 4. My 04 (U16) team beat our 03 (U17) team before. We are girls and we beat an older boys team. You’re a crappy person, what would your mother think? Or how would you explain this to your daughter, why she can’t play with the boys when she’s just as skilled and talented and at their level of athleticism?
All of you saying you can throw harder than 81 at 12-13 that is a straight lie. The guys playing in the perfect game world tournaments for that age are only pumping high 70’s
I love baseball and in tired of women saying softball is harder and guys saying that baseball is harder there is no contest on who's sport is the best or hardest there both the same thing but sadly 2019 is all about this and that and no one could just get along nowadays not everyone but h know what I mean
myles garrick I agree. It’s ten times easier than dirt. Blocking on turf is way better than blocking on dirt. You know if the ball hits the turf it’s going to take a hop. Instead of hit dirt and redirect from the downward force going into a soft material. I caught 4 years in college it was a good time

Softballs stike zone is up to the armpits
For all of you people saying that 81 is slow, there are MLB pitchers that throw about an 85 fastball, it’s just that it has a lot of movement. Moving fastballs are hard to hit no matter how fast it is.
Um I didn’t see who won yet but whatever sport wins it is not better it’s just 3 people playing around
GlueGang GlueFam it’s for fun
Dude if a college baseball pitcher throws 81 and you still can’t hit it, and your batting average is twice as high as the boys, then there’s something wrong
What is psychology pc?
They got struck out by a pitcher who was throwing 81 that’s sad
that you play msp
It’s a lot different to go from hitting 60 mph fastballs to even 81 mph. The boys struck out from a girl throwing in the 50’s with a bigger ball I’d call that sad
well even if the girl is throwing 64 it doesnt look 64 when its that close. a 64 mph pitch is equivalent to a 92 mph pitch and if a girl can throw 70 at that distance its extrapolated to be 100 pmh
mamikeira MSP girls getting strike out by a dude who’s throwing 81
tegan lofton are you dumb ???
Where is the senior pitcher?
Why can't the men toss at the ladies range?
JBatts41 that would be ridiculous lol
Nick Niehaus why would that be ridiculous
Maria M have you ever tried to hit a 39 mph baseball? If you have any hand eye coordination whatsoever, you will at least get the bat on it. 7 year olds throw 39! I don’t even think that a 39 mile per hour fastball from 60‘6” away would even make it to the plate
That would have made it a lot harder for the girls
Where’s the 2nd version
I’m just saying girls are used to the bigger ball to hit then a baseball in my opinion softballs are easier to hit because they’re bigger bc I’m a softball player and it’s just easier but both did great and both sports are cool
Finally, I video that has the softball players hit against baseball players
The men’s pitcher was just throwing junk... plate discipline ladies
MrDiabolicmuffin don’t say you’ve never chased before🙄
Softball players have a different strike zone
It’s not easy to see a curveball from a different arm angle
It worked didnt it? If they're gonna chase then as a pitcher make em chase it's a good strat
@@mra4928 thats 100% an excuse
Leg day much?
Give them a softball bat and see what happens👀
Dj Panocha thank you
Good idea 😊😊😊😊
a softball bat is smaller than a baseball bat
Dj Panocha wouldn’t that just help because the bats are lighter so it’s easier to make contact
ModernUniverse 🤦🏼♀️
Great video showing the different styles.
The girls swing was to late and not fast enough
Tate McCoy on a 69 mph pitch to boot 🤣🤣🤣
Softballs are normally slower than baseballs so they needed to adjust
No shit Sherlock
Was it just me or did it seem like the girls were pitching closer? Wasn’t really paying attention to their rules so it may have been described, kinda just wanted to see what people thought.
Now lets see them face a real college pitcher around 93.
Yolo Swaggins I think 93 is a little too old for someone in college lol
He means velocity lol
This university is in New Jersey right?
“use the riseball since they don’t have experience”
right handed mlb pitchers that throw rising fastballs: 👁👄👁
Where’s the rematch at??
Can we just leave it at both are hard
Thank you
Dinger Life 91 It was hard because neither practiced the other sport
Haha yeah lmao
Baseballs harder
1) smaller ball
2) bigger variety of pitches
3) fast pitches
Why do they pitch from so close in softball
Ball is heavier, doesn't go as fast? The field is just smaller than a baseball field so it makes sense the distance to pitch from is shorter, but I guess that's why it's all around smaller.
This is really an opinionated question, based on preference.
I would like to see this same competition with mens baseball against mens softball (fastball).
3:35 she’s one of us let’s go tinleyyyyy
I play both baseball and softball, and I loved them. It got hard to manage as I grew up, especially in juniors. They intimidated me so I stopped playing baseball. I still play softball, and it doesn't matter which one was better. I still woulda loved them regardless 😂😊
Lol Wiffing on an 81 mph fastball
Brendon McPhail lol ur tone is so toxic. U try hitting a fast ball fucker plus they are girls and they dont damn hitfastballs in softball.
You realize the ball is smaller and plus baseball pitching is different from softball pitching
@Juice Jeez, do females offend your manhood that bad?? Be humble "man".
It's been a year where the rematch
Who else imagined a game like this searched it up and was exactly how they thought it would be
2:27 was NOT a strike LOL. You can even slow it down and see it never come over the plate.
Its an inside pitch and who cares they are just having fun
I love softball
it’s so weird the softball pitchers are so close and it was only 64 mph
All of you saying you can throw harder than 81 at 12-13 that is a straight lie. The guys playing in the perfect game world tournaments for that age are only pumping high 70’s
Finally I found somebody who isn't in idiot in the comments thank god for you dude
How fast the the guy throw a fastball
I love baseball and in tired of women saying softball is harder and guys saying that baseball is harder there is no contest on who's sport is the best or hardest there both the same thing but sadly 2019 is all about this and that and no one could just get along nowadays not everyone but h know what I mean
metsfan2007 yessir right like i gets tired when say that because it’s like the same thing
@@miyarosie5364 texhinaccaly yes really on the pitches are different
What’s division is this?
College catcher can’t block a 69 mph off speed? Bench
Dominic DeFeo not saying hes good but playing off indoor turf is way different than playing on grass and dirt
myles garrick I agree. It’s ten times easier than dirt. Blocking on turf is way better than blocking on dirt. You know if the ball hits the turf it’s going to take a hop. Instead of hit dirt and redirect from the downward force going into a soft material. I caught 4 years in college it was a good time
