Can we please all bow to THAT DRESS? She wore a similar dress to the one she wore to the tour with Nirvana. Kurt would have loved a woman replacing him, especially such a close friend and such a great person and musician.
Kim Gordon writes about this in her 2015 memoir, "Girl in a Band": "Onstage I was reminded that Kurt was the most intense performer I'd ever seen. During the show, all I could think of was that I wanted to get that same kind of fearlessness across to the audience. I sang "Aneurysm", with its chorus "Beat me out of me", bringing in all my own rage and hurt from the last few years -- a four-minute-long explosion of grief, where I could finally let myself feel the furious sadness of Kurt's death and everything else surrounding it . . . After the show, Michael Stipe, who had officially inducted Nirvana, came up to me and said "Your singing was the most punk rock thing to ever happen, or that probably will ever happen, at this event."
This is the same kind of performance he gave on Top of the Pops. Just thumbing his nose at the establishment while staying true to his real fans. This is a fucking PERFECT representation of Nirvana.
@@samdonohoe9796 Have you heard the original Aneurysm? It's a punk track; a lot of Incesticide is punk. And this cover definitely is. Also boomer? You think I'm 75 because I don't like Pink or Mumford and Sons?
She nailed The Scream in her own essence. It blew me out of my head. This is punk rock. I could listen over and over. The dress is perfect. How did I miss this?

@frans I agree with you clearly I don't give a shit what you think you know ... Kim Gordon performed this because she was asked by Krist, Dave & Pat and they damn sure don't give a shit what u think ...
Portland, Oregon 1990. I went to a small club to see Sonic Youth on the Goo tour. Nirvana was the support act. Nirvana's set was so intense and there was so much moshing I slowly backed up next to the mixing board. A few songs in someone stepped right in between me and the mixing board. It was Kim Gordon all by herself. For a few songs she stood there just staring at the band. I eventually saw Nirvana three times and Sonic Youth nine. This performance brings back strong memories.
At first I was like what the hell is this singer doing… then I realized oh wait it’s punk rock and what she’s doing is feeling literally everything in the moment and that to me is punk rock. Kim Gordon is a certified punk rock badass
This woman... She is just perfect, in her imperfection. I could not choose a better singer for this song, she not only nailed it, she even added her soul on it.
First time seeing this, as referenced in today's NYT piece on Kim's most recent solo record and it's one of the best things I've seen online in quite a long time. Just brilliant.
Kim killed it Kurt would of approved . They loved that raw vocal style. Watch old nirvana videos. Your just use to hearing Kurt’s voice and you can’t look passed it
Amazing, I've watched this so many times. Its strange because it almost sounds like this song was written for Kim. Kurt would've loved it. And to all the negative comments here, I mean, why are you here? Do you know anything about punk rock? This is perfect.
In a way it was SO refreshing to see one thing be "impolite", and raw, and unapologetic BREAK SOME ICE off the celebration, if only for a moment. Could you see how each player got amped and stoked by each other (especially after she fell but was totally okay with it)?! Then they seemed like, "hell ya, now we're home"!! Yes my friends, THAT IS making music. Fkn'A, PUNK ROCK. It's the difference between "saying" how you feel, and SAYING how you feel. I'm sure Kurt would have loved it. I mean a sweet celebration can get old sort of quick if it has no slight stank of the spirit that brought on the heartfelt moment in the first place. Gah I will never stop missing Kurt.
This was great. That’s how these songs were performed, crazy, add lib vocals, and full of energy. It was spot on. You have all either missed the point or are too young to remember this band properly.
Pure punk-awesomeness. Her voice has always been like marmite but I mean for what it is... it really works. I also enjoy her more quiet moments like on "I love you Golden Blue"
I heard The Diamond Sea live at Sziget '96, one of my favorite, defining concert experiences ever. I'll keep Kim and Thurston and crew in my heart forever, it was well nigh transcendental...
