Best speech in R&R HoF ever, hands down..., is not just a speech, it's a hearthfelt eulogy for Kurt and a master class for art itself, all at the same time.
Stipes politics are mere reflections of great heart, wisdom and intelligence that few could match, this man operates far beyond the duality of this world, and R.E.M.'s music only reflected it, it came from another world, so did Kurt Cobain's music. Kurt resonated with R.E.M. because these two men were very much similar in many ways.
I was a waiter in Nashville in the 90s. One day I served Michael Stipe and Natalie Merchant together. They barely spoke a word to me. The only exception was when they ordered. I didn’t inform them that I knew who they were. The entire time they were there they silently surveyed the other patrons in the restaurant as if they were a king and queen perched on their thrones looking down on the lowly peasants below them. I waited on countless famous people and I’m not being hyperbolic when I say they were the most unpleasant people I ever encountered. Seeing Michael’s joyless countenance in this speech reminded of how arrogant and rude he was that day.
That sucks. Although, is it possible that’s just how he comes across then? Considering he has the same expression here delivering a speech in front of other famous people as he did when you were serving him in a restaurant? Can imagine him being quite awkward and reserved.

I hate how heroin took away such a good person from us, but heroin took so many friends of mine, i almost took a chance with a needle, but i thought about the friends it killed and i would never do it

There's a speech for the ages. All the beauty and fury of Nirvana and Stipe's articulate account of those times, and look at Amerika now.
Mr. Stype is AWESOME- a beautiful man with a beautiful mind AND beautiful eyes ❤️❤️❤️

I’m sure you’ve had to deal with being noticed every moment of the day.
Maybe they'd just had an argument. Or were stoned.

That's right, Dave Krist and Kurt where Nirvana, Courtney not you

This speech nails it. It would have been funnier if he had just came up and incoherently mumbled for 6 minutes though.
It's the future saying .... HERE WE ARE -WE QUIT ... right Mike ? 🤣🤣🤣
dave kinda had it easier?

He's talking more about REM than Nirvana. "...Love Buzz was about US politics..." nah.
RNR Hall of Fame is a joke
Why does he have to bring his crappy politics into it

Thats not micheal stripe
“stipe” not stripe ☝️ yeah yeah yeah it is 🚬🤠 one of Kurt’s best friends..
How odd. You're right, though. It's not Michael Stripe 😂. It is indeed Michael Stipe.
Micky Stip, Mick Stope, Michael Stoop
But boring the speech.. He's better at song writing than speech writing. I got bored and fell to sleep half way through and it's only six minutes long
greatest american Group R.E.M.!.
