Mine sat for 1 1/2 years! I'm pushing myself because I really want to start doing some chipboard constructions to then decorate and sell as home decor in addition to doing cards.
Glad I'm not the only one! The program has been hard for me to learn but, I am really putting in huge effort to learn it now though! Good luck guys, we can all do this! 💜💜💜
I purchased my Cameo 4 earlier this year, and am still intimidated. I just found your video this morning, and I love how you present the material. You are a great teacher. Thank you!
I'm new to silhouette. I've always been a Circut gal, but I'm hearing great things about Silhouette. Your review on the Silhouette made me change over.
Loved this video! You explain things calmly and clearly. Sometimes with other videos, the person jumps back and forth and I get a bit confused at times. Thanks for giving calm and clear instructions! I will continue to follow you in the future! Thanks so much!
Hi Becky. I am new to this entire world and have just bought my first Cameo 4 to start a small business. I just want you to know that I find your videos really helpful and practical. See you along the way
Hi Becky. You are definitely the best on this channel when it comes to teaching. You are calm and objective. I often scroll away, perhaps too many episodes because that person is loud, stressful and does not have the ability to capture my interest. I'm brand new to this world. I'm still standing and doubting which machine to buy. I love to create, make nice cards and also do other things. After listening to you in several episodes, I have decided on a Cricut maker 3. It's your merit. I hope to see you more in the future precisely because of your personality and incredibly good ability to teach. Thanks Becky!
I have been a cameo user for 8 years....just graduated myself to a Cameo 4 Plus! Watched this video and am amazed at what I don't know! THANK YOU!! Made my day!
Hey Sandi! I'm so glad that we were able to help out even such an experienced user as yourself! I definitely learn new things all the time, so we'll take turns passing them back and forth, I'm sure! ---Becky
Thank you so much for letting me know that there is a problem with the blade. My daughter has experience with the version 3 and she has been teaching me how to use my 4 and we have wreaked our brains using different types of papers and not getting the cut . We finally said let’s get a new blade it couldn’t hurt to try to see if that’s the problem. Yes it was the blade.
ok.. question.. and I’m searching for answers so hopefully I’ll find them, but in the meantime as well as assuming that I may NOT find my answers, I have the 2nd edition of Silhouette Cameo, I’m trying to figure out IF my machine will cut FOAM, Felt and basic fabric!! And being that it’s an older machine, finding the answers haven’t always been easy for me!! I’m not new to Silhouette but I’m not a PRO either!! Just playing around with the things and listening to many of yall who are so kind enough to help ppl like myself- giving details and how tos!! Much appreciated!!! Thanks for your help!!! And thanks for all the tutorials!! And obviously I only have the ratchet blade and I’m not sure what limits there are with this blade! Thanks again!! Have a blessed evening! ❤
I have just purchased a Silhouette after using the Cricut for years (you will understand why as the news of Cricut "new features" filter through because this is going to blow up massively). Anyway, you are the first Silhouette information "Guru" I have subscribed too. & I've been browsing You Tube for a couple of hours now! Loving your videos so far, you make it so easy to understand. I know I've already commented about you on a different video but, I just absolutely love your personality & style of teaching! Hey there! Thank you so much for you kind words, my heart is so happy to know that you enjoy my videos (and me!). I'm happy to report that Design Bundles takes very good care of me, they are a great company to work with and I plan on continuing to work with them in any capacity I can. See you again soon! ---Becky
I know I'm supposed to learning but I'm just mesmerised by your gorgeous collection of vinyl in the glass cubes! :-) Thank you for making everything sound so easy :-)
Hey Michelle! I am mesmerized by them every day also, it's very distracting to have pretty sparkly vinyl close by. Thanks for checking out the video though! Hope we were able to pass on a few tips for you! ---Becky
I been in the sign business for 30 years and I know all the best ways to buy vinyl. every major city has a sign supplier and mose of them sell the oracal 651 but they also have the 3m vinyls, I been using the rtape paper mask for many years. I also love the clear masking transfer too..
Another well-thought-out and spoken video on silhouette design. Doing a very good job and I hope many people see these videos. Excellent learning tool.
Great info! I just want to say I love the way you smile throughout all of your videos. And you have a calming effect that I need sometimes, lol. I just appreciate the work you put into your videos….thank you!
a little about the weeding tools. although I have the cameo i do love the circit weed tool, and also I have made my own weel tools by getting wood dowel rod, cut to aout 4 to 6 inches in length. then go to the sewing section of walmart and get some big marine canvas needles, drill a small hole and then press the needle into it.. another weeding tool i like to use is a exacto blade by friskers. nice grip and it sometimes helps to make your own weed lines between words
I don't have a Sillhouette yet but I will probably have a Cameo 4 by this afternoon. LOL. I'm so glad I found your videos and they will definitely be a BIG help right from the beginning. (Now I'm off to go shopping)
Thank you so much for your honest opinions! I have had Cricuts for a few years but I really wanted to try a cameo for multiple reasons (design space issues but mostly curiosity, tbh). My cameo 4 arrived yesterday and I had watched your unboxing video when I ordered it. I decided to copy you and do a decal. The first two attempts were impossible to weed (second cut, I adjusted the cut from 1-3) and then I finally selected cut twice. That helped but cut a little too much so I was weeding half pieces of the backing off of some of the letters. I'm definitely going to try a ratchet blade!
Hi Becky thanks for the wonderful hack/tips/tricks. My question to you is: Where did you get your clear storage binds for your vinyl. I really love your setup and looking to organizing mine.
Hey there! I'm sorry to report that I don't actually know where they come from originally. I purchased them second-hand when a local retail store was going out of business. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Great tips! I am a well seasoned Cameo owner & I learned several things to make crafting better. I especially loved the weeding box idea. I use non-Silhouette mats. They are so much better than Silhouette branded & won’t be going back. Also just discovered being able to design & print directly from Studio Software. Love it. Thanks so much. I look forward to your tutorials!
Thank you! I'm so glad that you have shared my experiences, I know it can be so overwhelming for beginners but us seasoned crafters will take care of them ;) I'm so glad that you are enjoying the videos, I welcome all your comments and input! ---Becky
Hey Doll G! I would just search Amazon for Silhouette Cameo cutting mats. I've tried the Nicapa brand and they work very well. Good luck with your crafting and thanks for watching! ---Becky
@@dollg44 I have used "Nicapa" and am currently using "Linked Go Standard Grip". I've been happy with both brands.. They are much thicker than Silhouette & have lasted quite a while. Just make sure they are for the model of machine you have. Happy cutting!
This video was the best comprehensive summary for a beginner I've ever seen. I have wanted to get a Silhouette and related software for a long time, but I felt ugg...this is going to be a hugh learning curve. Now I know the great content is available along with customers support. The ability to export designs is HUGH. In my opinion this is a game changer. As a "diehard" Cricut owner this is hard to admit. This is important when as creatives we use Adobe and other Graphics programs in our business.
Very helpful tips in one great video. 👍 Here are my 5 cents: Do not use JPEGs. These are only useful for screens, e.g photos and/or graphics with a background, scaling is a nuisance and edges are pixelated. Use vector graphics only (PNG*, EPS, SVG etc.), which you can scale up or down without losing any quality. (*)PNG is a bit limited
Thank you Becky for another really informative video, I haven't got my Cameo 4 delivered yet but after watching your videos I cant wait for it to come and get started on this incredible journey with help from your videos, a big thank you.
Thank you for mentioning that it can open .dfx files, it made me think of a workaround for opening PDF files in the basic version - Inkscape (afree SVG software) does the trick. Import PDF in Inkscape and export as .dfx file and import that in Silhoutte Studio 😬
Love your style of teaching. I have the business addition and am still trying to grasp the beginning of Silhouette Studio keep getting stuck with cutting. However, is the beginning all you teach?
would love to see a video on the various things available for a cameo cutter. I have the 15". haven't used it yet.........I bought the basic cutter with few accessories but would like to know what is out there and how to use it. thanks for your videos.
Can you please recommend a permanent-printable size white vinyl sheets suitable for outdoor, we just purchased a Cameo 4 and want to make graphic decals for our side x side. I can’t find any Oracal letter sized 651 sheets. Thank you, really enjoy the videos, they are like drinking from a fire hose!
You're amazing! I've had my cameo 4 for our a year and couldn't figure it out. It wasn't cutting right. It might be the auto blade!I'm gonna try the ratchet blade. Also, I can't figure out how to load my own logo and designs. Is it because I didn't upgrade? I saw you mentioned a little on that. Thanks!
Great tips that took me maaaany years to learn. I've used a Silhouette machine since they first came out, I love the possibilities that it offered at the time vs the Cricut. I'm curious why you also use the Cricut machine. Thank you in advance for sharing your knowledge, I really like your videos.
I love your videos! You are so informative. I just purchased a cameo 4 and I'm excited to get started. I've been using Cricut design space and just got really frustrated with the software limits and inconsistencies. I do have a questions about the Silhouette software. First, can I use the designs I have in design space in Silhouette? Second, can I create svg files in Silhouette? I kinda got lost when you were discussing this. Do you have a video that explains all this? Third, if I only want to do print and cut, or cut svg files, can I get by with the Basic software? Or do I need to purchase an upgrade? Again, I'm so excited to get started but I almost feel overwhelmed. I know that it will all come, but just need some guidance to get started. Thank you in advance for all the videos you create to assist all of us newbies :)
Hi Karlene! Do create SVG files, you need the Designer Edition of Silhouette. It's an extra expense, but totally worth it! The basic edition of Silhouette only allows you to use DXF files, not SVG. - Dawn
I am a Cricut user who also has a Cameo 4. I have spent an entire day trying to get the auto blade to cut reliably through matte vinyl. I am going to see if the ratchet blade will work better for me.
Hi Becky! Haven't seen any new videos from you lately. Truly miss them. I do have a question . . I noticed that you use weeding tweezers in some of your videos and was wondering if there is a pair that you would recommend. I've tried several and find the tips seem to bend quite easily. Hope to see you back soon!
Hi thank you for more information regarding silhoutte machine. I'm still confused regarding to all the material that I need to start my clothing brand. Hope you could help to it.
Hey Tammy! No way, you will adjust and love this machine! The software comes with a lot of features and I know it's overwhelming. But you will love it once you get the hang of it! If I can help, let me know! ---Becky
I love your videos. I just unboxed my machine, I'm having trouble finding the ratchet blade. Is there a specific one for the cameo 4? Thanks in advance.
I love all your videos! Super helpful! I just got a portrait 3 and I’m having trouble with offset. I understand that trace and offset, but when I do that, the sticker looks like it is part of a fill pattern. There are parts of the stickers next to it within the offset border. Please help!
Hey Rebecca! Maybe you need to reduce the size of your offset? If you reduce the distance, it will bring the offset in closer and stop it from overlapping into the next sticker over. You might need to use the knife tool and separate the stickers though, if they are too close. I'm not sure what you mean by the fill pattern though? I'm happy to help, let me know how it's going. ---Becky
@@DesignBundles Thank you. I have made the offset smaller. When I import a png it looks like one image, it isn’t until I use offset that it looks like I had multiple images. The offset is around the first image but I just don’t know where the edges of the other images are coming from. Is there a Facebook group for questions? Thank you.
You are so sweet and informative. Thank you so much for all the great info. As a beginner I highly appreciate all this valuable knowledge. Great video!!
Hi Mony! Thank you for your kind words! Are you a member of our Facebook group? It's very beginner friendly! facebook.com/groups/1930716583871665 - Dawn 🙂
i’m new to this, i recently just got a cameo and i’m not sure how to use it or connect it to my computer. it’s like it just won’t connect. i’ve watched your videos and i’m a slow learner so i most stuff i still don’t get. i would love it if you could walk me through step by step on how to set everything up and help me figure everything out!
I have had my Silhouette 2 in the box for way to long.. finally getting it out.. You have been so helpful... so much great information.. so the ratchet blade can be used in any machine? I moved recently and lost the blade that came with my machine..
I saw on a video that the new version of software 4.4 is giving some people issues. Are you having any issues with the new install? I got my machine yesterday, and watching all of your videos! Thank goodness I found you!
I am, Audrey! I'm going to link you on my video on how to go back to a Legacy version of Silhouette Studio. I am on version 4.3.370 I believe. Hope this helps! ---Becky ruclips.net/video/EA1SUhdX1hk/видео.html
I just received a Cameo 4 as a birthday gift from The Hubster! I have been using my original Cameo and it started having issues. I followed your tutorial and printed a vinyl sticker for my new machine. Everything works with the exception of the BlueTooth. All my other BlueTooth devices work but not the Cameo. I am fine right now, but I hope to get it going. Any suggestions? I am using the iMac OS High Sierra version 10.13.6.
First off, I absolutely love Design Bundles! I just got a machine, set it up and found your site. Great customer service help with quick response times! My question if for the Silhouette software upgrade. Does the business one mean you don't have to worry about copy rights and can use any of their designs on things you want to sell? Also, where do you find upgrades other than Silhouette. I am in Canada and have the Designers Plus as it was a gift with the machine.
Hey Gemini! So glad you found use, we are happy to have you here! Regardless of the software, you'll always need to be conscious of copyrights and trademarks. The software won't give you any commercial use rights when it comes to designs, it only unlocks additional features to use with your machine. For upgrades, you can check Amazon and Swing Design, those are the two that I have purchased from before, but if you already have Designer Edition Plus, make sure you only purchase the DE Plus to BE upgrade. Hope this helps and good luck with your new machine! ---Becky
love this studio software I have a maker and really wished I would have done more research and found out how many problems the circuit software had before i bought it . I would have also loved the matless cutting with the cameo . maybe next time .thank you for all the tips
Hey Christina! The Maker is still a fabulous machine, I use mine all the time! Check out this video, if you have already, you might unlock some new ideas! ---Becky ruclips.net/video/U_aXLOZ1D1Q/видео.html
Hi! I am brand new to this world. I bought a cameo to cut stickers & HTV to put on tshirts. I know nothing about the software or cutting! Do you have any tips of vids to watch? Thank you!
I mainly cut stencils (large stencils) so I needed the 24" cut of the Cameo Pro. My question is can I cut 7.5 mil mylar plastic without a mat? Thank you
I have a first edition portrait and I use it primarily for making stencils for my glass etching projects but I also have some silhouette pens but not used them as of yet so my question is do I need to use a cutting board for the pens on paper hope to hear from you soon Phil , p.s. I have finally been able to update my software to 4.4
Hey Phil, yes, you'll want to use the cutting mat to hold the paper or cardstock in place to use the silhouette pens. Glad your original Portrait is going strong, they certainly are great machines (I still have mine too, going on 8+ years). Hope this helps! ---Becky
Hello Becky , love all of your videos ...so awesome and a huge help 😁 However I got my Cameo 4 back in May and was working great , then with in the last two updates my Silhouette Studio is crashing when I am creating a project. I could be work for 5 min or more ... then when ever I change something on the designing mat it crashes and kicked me out. I have learned to listen to my computer and when I hear it processing I have to stop moving the cursor or the next move will kick me out.... someone please help Also my laptop is new as well got them at the same time, so the laptop would meet the requirements to run the Studio.
I have been following you the last few nights and absolutely love the information you share to help us. I have a few questions. 1 do you know any companies to purchase the upgrade software for Cameo. I just purchased a Cameo 3 and excited to get started doing rhinestone shirts.
I just bought a cameo 4 and should arrive soon! I was so nervous, thinking I was going to mess up the most expensive thing I've spent money on. But I'm so glad I found you! Lol. Your making me feel better about using it for the first time.
Hello, I just have a question, I have had my silhouette cameo for a long time but I really don't used it. Im trying to learn more on how to use it so not that long I fond out that to get an image it had to be a certain file to download an image or to buy one. So I'm not sure what file is what I need so Can you help me what's the file I need? I was try to find a video but I thing it got me a little bit confuse. Thanks for your help and videos they alway help.
Hello. I have my cameo 4 for a week now and loving all that I am learning. Thank you for taking the time to help us on our silhouette journey. Question. Do you recommend the ratchet blade over the premium blade for cardstock? I'll be mainly making cake toppers and want nice clean cuts.
Hey, great question! I'll be honest, I'm a fan of the ratchet blade because they are so much cheaper to replace. But, I've never truly put to test the Premium blade to see just how long it will last. Your blade will dull down much faster on cardstock, especially if you start cutting glitter cardstock, it is very hard on blades. You may want to check into the cb09 blade, BUT if your machine is under warranty (especially if you've only had it a week), then they say using 3rd party blades will void your warranty. Hope this helps! ---Becky
I may be late - but the premium blade was a premium letdown for me. You need to re-adjust ALL your settings and I didn't see anything spectacular in the way of longevity. One of the two I'd bought lost it's point almost immediately when cutting glitter cardstock.
THANK YOU SO MUCH, I just purchased the silhouette business edition. I followed your video. I don't know which icon I may have clicked by mistake but I have this 4 way line following my cursor and it is driving me nuts. Do you know what I may have done. Please help.
Hey Marley! Yes! It's your Crosshairs. You can go to the Page Setup Panel, click on the middle icon and un-check the box. I think you can also use the "H" key on your keyboard. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Oh my Gosh, I did this and it is gone. I can never thank you enough. This was driving me crazy. I am still learning Silhouette Business Edition. I have one more more issue that I need help with please. When I open my SVG it appears as a enormous large design. 18 " x 20 '" etc. Is there a way to preset controls so that it will appear as a smaller size?.
ok is 2nd time or 3rd time I see your video and I just seen the part were you talk about what file I need, with my 2little ones I miss that part the first couple time I saw the video, SO is DXF what I need not SVG? did I got that right ?
New User here and love these learnings, but can someone help me with sticker pages, how do i cut around sticker and not cut through the backing paper, aaahhh :)
Hey Sharon! Great question! Silhouette Studio has a few defaults that you can test to get the kind of cut you are looking for. In this situation, I would recommend using a blank sheet of sticker paper to test your settings before trying it out on your print-and-cut sheet. Draw a box in your cutting area and play with the cut settings (move the box for subsequent cuts) until you get the cut that you want. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Hey Luz! I use the regular Ratchet blade, you can get them from Amazon and then I personally use Oracal 651 for adhesive vinyl and Stahls brand for heat transfer vinyl. Hope this helps!

Wow I wish I watched this before I tried cutting my first vinyl. I wasted so much vinyl and was so frustrated at the waste!
Thank you for sharing your tips, very useful. I will be back to check more videos when I have more time. Take care
Have been having a hard time with cutting and want to try the ratchet blade. Did this work for you?
I was thinking about purchasing a hot press - which one would you recommend that isn't too pricey? Thank you and love your videos. Great instructor.
Crystal uses this one in her videos - www.heattransferwarehouse.com/walapress-pro-drawer-auto-open-16x20/
Is there one she could recommend around the $300-$500 range.
---Becky
You are great at doing these videos. I love your energy and enthusiasm. Thanks!!
I have a few Cricut machines and I'm considering switching. I feel the same way about their vinyl as well. I prefer Oracal 651.
Can u share a link of non silhoutte mat?I dont get it in India
---Becky
@@DesignBundles You have a very effective way of communicating great ideas & enthusiasm in an easy to understand way. Thanks so much!
You're very welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed the video :) And I agree, such a great feature to be able to export designs!
Brilliant and so to the point
You are so welcome!
What parts are you getting stuck on? Also, what machine do you have? - Brittany
I love your storage units. Especially the clear one. I agree on the vinyl. I tried the ones you suggested and there is a difference.
What brand of vinyl and transfer tape does she use? I replayed several times and just couldn't grab the brands/types. Many thanks
Oops should have watched on into the video brands were listed on screen thanks for your time...
would love to see a video on the various things available for a cameo cutter.
I will definitely pass along your request to our content team to see if they have any recommendations!
Thanks!
Glad this video helped! Also, it may depend on the version you are using.
Great tips that took me maaaany years to learn. I've used a Silhouette machine since they first came out, I love the possibilities that it offered at the time vs the Cricut. I'm curious why you also use the Cricut machine. Thank you in advance for sharing your knowledge, I really like your videos.
You're welcome! We're always happy to help! - Brittany
- Dawn
You are amazing. Thank you for sharing all this information.
I am a Cricut user who also has a Cameo 4. I have spent an entire day trying to get the auto blade to cut reliably through matte vinyl. I am going to see if the ratchet blade will work better for me.
Loved the easy and understandable explanation. Thanks a million
Hi Becky! Haven't seen any new videos from you lately. Truly miss them. I do have a question . . I noticed that you use weeding tweezers in some of your videos and was wondering if there is a pair that you would recommend. I've tried several and find the tips seem to bend quite easily. Hope to see you back soon!
THANK YOU! BRAND new Cameo 4 user!!!!
Hi thank you for more information regarding silhoutte machine. I'm still confused regarding to all the material that I need to start my clothing brand. Hope you could help to it.
Your personality was what kept me tuned in! Good video!
Awwww, thanks! I appreciate that! ---Becky
Thank you so much for all you do! I’ve learned so much from your videos!!
We're so glad it was helpful!
I love using a seam cutter for weeding.
Loved the video. Thanks for all the info. I had no idea what an amazing tool I have. Albeit, a much older one, the tips, and tricks are still helpful.
Yes! There are SO many things you can do with your Silhouette! It's a great machine and we hope you enjoy crafting with it!
So I just bought my cameo yesterday and I feel like I might have made a mistake! Its so overwhelming! I had the old cricut with cartridges...!
Hey Tammy! No way, you will adjust and love this machine! The software comes with a lot of features and I know it's overwhelming. But you will love it once you get the hang of it! If I can help, let me know! ---Becky
I bought mine 1 month ago. I was like you and finally changed my mind. Once you find the good settings it's a wonderful toys haha
@@DesignBundles I just did! Thanks for the link. So excited to have found your channel!
i’m new to this, i recently just got a cameo and i’m not sure how to use it or connect it to my computer. it’s like it just won’t connect. i’ve watched your videos and i’m a slow learner so i most stuff i still don’t get. i would love it if you could walk me through step by step on how to set everything up and help me figure everything out!
Are you able to plug the cord from your Cameo to your computer?
Great video, awesome content !!!
You explain it very well thank you
Also thinking of ditching the bug machine and getting a silhouette instead. Such a nice machine.
I have had my Silhouette 2 in the box for way to long.. finally getting it out.. You have been so helpful... so much great information.. so the ratchet blade can be used in any machine? I moved recently and lost the blade that came with my machine..
So glad to hear that Monica, I'm sure you will love it! Yes, the ratchet blade is the one you want for the Cameo 2. Hope this helps! ---Becky
---Becky

---Becky
Do you have a vid about ratchet blad with the cameo 4??

Okay- brand new here and about to purchase a Cameo! Will I be able to create MY OWN original stencils?
You can!
What’s mats do you recommend from Amazon? Do you have a link? Thanks in advance😊
Hey Johnnese! I don't have a link for you, but I use the Nicapa mats and have had good luck. Hope this helps! ---Becky
@@DesignBundles thank you so much....just got the Cameo 4 and your videos are awesome to learn from
Loved your advises!!!! I agree everything with you. Thanks a lot.
Thank you
i could not us this till now your the best
Happy to help!
---Becky
love you. thank you very much
Glad it helped!
Hello Becky , love all of your videos ...so awesome and a huge help 😁
However I got my Cameo 4 back in May and was working great , then with in the last two updates my Silhouette Studio is crashing when I am creating a project. I could be work for 5 min or more ... then when ever I change something on the designing mat it crashes and kicked me out. I have learned to listen to my computer and when I hear it processing I have to stop moving the cursor or the next move will kick me out.... someone please help
Also my laptop is new as well got them at the same time, so the laptop would meet the requirements to run the Studio.
I have been following you the last few nights and absolutely love the information you share to help us. I have a few questions. 1 do you know any companies to purchase the upgrade software for Cameo. I just purchased a Cameo 3 and excited to get started doing rhinestone shirts.
Hey Denise! Glad you are enjoying the videos! Check SwingDesign.com, I have heard good things about their software prices. Hope this helps! ---Becky
@@DesignBundles Thank You!
Thank you for this great video.
---Becky
@@DesignBundles where are you purchasing the ratchet blade in bulk?
I may be late - but the premium blade was a premium letdown for me. You need to re-adjust ALL your settings and I didn't see anything spectacular in the way of longevity. One of the two I'd bought lost it's point almost immediately when cutting glitter cardstock.
THANK YOU SO MUCH,
I just purchased the silhouette business edition.
---Becky
Hey i just got my silhouette cameo 4 can you send me a link of the blade, n vinyl u use please
Hey Luz! I use the regular Ratchet blade, you can get them from Amazon and then I personally use Oracal 651 for adhesive vinyl and Stahls brand for heat transfer vinyl. Hope this helps!
