The most beautiful commentary ever. The passion! Even me an Englishman find it touching the back handed respect the man had for us. It was worth getting beat for it! Cheers Norway!
Tbf to the commentator he seems to know more about British history than the average Brit 😂 If you asked a Brit to tell you who Clement Attlee or Lord Nelson were they'd probably tell you they were fictional characters from a TV show. They'd all know who Jeremy Kyle was if you asked them though 😂
True, never mind saying it all in another language, about another countries famous figures! I think one of the reasons this commentary has been so popular in England is because is flattering rather than smug in what was at the time huge upset. Scandinavian football was not very strong back then. English football was and still is very popular there. The affection for and amazement at the defeat of England is very clear.
It's lots of peoples favourite commentary moment in England, including mine! This sketch was from a TV series called Fantasy Football League, each week they recreated a famous moment well known and fondly remembered by English fans, this was one.
thor heyerdahl, aqua, Edvard Grieg, Henrik Ibsen, Morten Abel, Røyksopp, Kurt Nilsen, Alexander Rybakk, Varg Vikernes, Edvard Munch, Harald zwart, Roald Amundsen, John Arne Riise, Ole Gunnar Solskjær, and teh list goes on... did i leave any significant famous norwegians out?
Rafa: this is Fantasy Football League, it used to come around each major tournament, its 2 comics Frank Skinner and David Baddiel. Absolutely hilarious those 2... Although they havent done much lately. "Dick van Dycke can you hear me" haha
This was 1981 - Then we beat England again in 1993 when you had this manager that we called a turnip , Graham Taylor. Norway won 2-0 and after that we lost all respect for England.
On They Think It's All Over, they once played a clip of a local radio commentator who supported Sunderland mimicing Lillelien after they'd beaten Newcastle. The namecheck of famous Newcastle fans climaxed rather appropriately with "Tony Blair, can you hear me Tony Blair!" It sounded pre-prepared, but still a nice tribute.
kisbie never been up to Glasgow before the blue team started cheating to try emulate Celtic winning 9 in a row it some what back_fired on them as Celtic are inching more & more towards a 10 in a row & it's that what's killing them even more moral of the story is don't cheat hh
"We are the best in the world! We are the best in the world! We have beaten England 2-1 in football!! It is completely unbelievable! We have beaten England! England, birthplace of giants. Lord Nelson, Lord Beaverbrook, Sir Winston Churchill, Sir Anthony Eden, Clement Attlee, Henry Cooper, Lady Diana - we have beaten them all. We have beaten them all. Maggie Thatcher can you hear me?
At the time Dazoo wrote this (2012) Henry Cooper had only recently died (2011), as opposed to Diana having been dead 15 years, most of the others 40 years +, and Lord Nelson over 200 years (Thatcher was then still alive). In that context quite reasonable to say rip Henry Cooper.

THIS... WAS... AMAZING!!! Never gets old. They should bring it back! Nothing like it on the tube nowadays!
His commentary really makes me smile. And I'm a brit .

Lord Nelson is a pub on Holloway Road.
It’s had a sex change - it became the Horatia about 15-16 years ago! Nice pub and decent venue, ive been to a few nights there
hahaha I bloody love this! Yes indeed i miss fantasy football!
One of the most hilarious football rants ever. I'm sure even the English would find it funny.
It's lots of peoples favourite commentary moment in England, including mine!

Bring it back... Please
At that time it was pretty big, you know English football in Norway is like religion, so it was a pretty big deal to beat England at that time
I don't know who the guy is but I loved the reference to Focus!
Hilarious. This guy must have had a preprepared list of famous Brits to list off.
This was 1981 - Then we beat England again in 1993 when you had this manager that we called a turnip , Graham Taylor. Norway won 2-0 and after that we lost all respect for England.
bardo0007
After that unhinged rant England lost all respect for Norway...... oh sorry, we never had any.

Superb!!! Clement Atlee, Sir Anthony Eden?!!!! Wasn't they dead?!!!!
Everyone he mentioned is dead now. Princess Diana, Henry Cooper and Margaret Thatcher were still alive at the time.
sadly Bjorge Lillelien is also dead
In the book 'Why England Lose', the authors calculate that Norway is the country most passionate about football in the whole world.
kisbie possibly, as England are much stronger in other sports.
kisbie never been up to Glasgow before the blue team started cheating to try emulate Celtic winning 9 in a row it some what back_fired on them as Celtic are inching more & more towards a 10 in a row & it's that what's killing them even more moral of the story is don't cheat hh
Fantasy football league was the boy.
