How to dress for winter in Finland

We Finns have a saying. "There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing." If you are joining an Adventure Apes tour during the winter months, you’ll want to prepare for winter conditions from 0 to -35°C (32 to -31°F) but it could get as cold as -37°C (-35°F).

I wish I learned how to dress for the winter earlier. It regularly gets down to below 10°F + wind-chill and I used to wait for the bus either in a single hoodie or winter coat for ~20 mins both with cotton tee shirt underneath. I feel like base layers are a minimum in the winter like this

wearing beanie, hood and coat that protects neck are musts. keeping hands in coat's pocket makes them warmer that wearing gloves.

For shoes is normal outdoor shoe good or we neee something special?

For winter conditions normal outdoor shoe (like hiking boot) is not enough. We would recommend you to have "tall" winter boots with separate inner layers you can take out and dry easier. In case you come to Adventure Apes tours you can rent this kind of boots from us.
