  • What I wear on extreme winter expeditions! In this video I talk about how to to layer up right because dressing for the extreme cold and arctic conditions can be hard but I’ve listed what I typically wear on a winter sub zero adventure. Please like and subscribe if you enjoy!
Sometimes I might have an extra thin merino wool base layer underneath all of this too and swap the small insulation for a technical fleece or add another trouser layer on top like a synthetic down pant.
I upload every two weeks on Thursdays at 2pm so please join the adventure by like, sharing and subscribing!

For the coldest environments I recommend Kamik and Baffin. The Baffin impact or eiger are rated for -100c/-170f. Get 1 or even 2 sizes bigger. Make sure they’re not tight or you’ll get cold.

Yes! Baffin or sorel are superb 👌

It’s certainly going to be a much colder winter for us this year…
Glad this can provide some help, even if it was intended for the Arctic!

How cold does it get in the UK? Here’s in Canada -25C is the average in the city and it get to below 40 Celsius very often. If you dress properly its amazing though.

@MohamadEl-amine in the UK? Not cold at all! But this is aimed for the polar regions and longer expeditions out there. Absolutely - the right kit makes even -40 bearable, especially when moving

Thank you for the video! Could you recommend a good brand for wool socks?😊

Hi Lucy, Thanks for this really useful video. I’m going to my first ever extreme cold expedition and need to buy most of the gear. Are there shops in the UK you would recommend where I can try it on. I’m a small petite woman and struggle with sizes in the normal conditions, so finding sizes for laying online quite challenging. I’d really appreciate practical advise from a ‘local’.

Hello! I would say Snow and Rock are pretty good and sometimes order extra things in. Nordic Outdoor has also just opened in London - it’s got lots of brands you wouldn’t normally find in the uk.
Snow and rock are good at ordering sizes in so you could ask them to do that before going. They also match prices online.

The sheep aren’t tortured. Synthetics are terrible for the environment. Silk is a great option.
