So many are saying Emma Stone is a frontrunner for the Oscar. I cannot wait to see this but so far "Past Lives" is my favorite movie. Love your channel.
Just got back from the theater and the first thing I did was look up your review to hear your thoughts 😂 Excellent movie. Weird and hilarious and captivating… though a smidge long.
OMG, an adult man who's a film critic but doesn't know the classic comedy movie "Airplane!"... He's a rare and weird creature, like Bella from "Poor Things".
The first Yurgos film I was brave enough to go to. His other films had all kinds of critical praise but just seemed too “weird” for my sensibilities. I’m definitely going revisit those now. I’m male hetro and I went to this with two women one of whom is a romantic partner. None of use knew much about the film going in except the critical acclaim…I’ve got to say that the sexuality in this film made me uncomfortable sitting in the theatre…I still loved the film but who I was with definitely affected how reacted. As always, thanks for your views gentleman 🙏🏻
We saw this at NYFF and seeing it in a theater of a 1000 people certainly felt odd during some scenes. With Yurgos, The Lobster and the Favorite have his scorched earth cynicism but both are fairly digestible. If you like those and want some very unpleasant/weird sits, then Dogtooth (personal favorite) and Killing of a Sacred Deer could do the trick 🙏
I just saw it this afternoon, loved it. It's the 2nd Yorgos movie I've seen so far, the other being The Favourite. Emma Stone has the Oscar in the bag I believe. Mark Ruffalo is a serious contender for Supporting actor as well. I also think the comparison to Barbie at 15:47 is fair, they're both comedies with feminist themes, centered around a woman whose innocence gets challenged by the outside world.

Thank you! That is an absolutely loaded category this year. So many performances worth commending.
Finally saw this tonight and I loved it. Did not expect to laugh as much as I did.
