    What an amazing museum! Thank you for taking us on a tour around it. "Amber Museum in Palanga" is now an entry on my "Must Visit" list; hopefully I can some day visit your area of the world.
    I wonder what sort of effort it takes to carve a delicate ring out of amber. It would probably be terrifying to wear-- it would be so easy to scratch it, nowadays.

    • @Amberscape
      @Amberscape  2 года назад +1

      Scratch it yes and also brake it, its quite thin:)

    Hi Jarek, cool video and also a cool channel! I am definitely going to watch more of your videos! I was wondering: isn't the museum worried that exposing these amber pieces to light all day is going to cause deterioration such as darkening colors and/or surface cracking?

    • @Amberscape
      @Amberscape  2 года назад +1

      Hey man thanks! And its the first thing i thought myself (the heat), i hope they are using cold lights and take care of the specimens weekly, cover them in wax and so on. But im not sure if they do - most of the pieces appears oxidized probably from the long periods being exposed to strong lights:/

      @@Amberscape I hope the museum did think about how to prolong the life of these amber specimens. I personally store my collection in sealed boxes that are stored in the dark. My very first amber specimen (a Baltic amber piece with a spider that I got as a kid in a museum shop) is now 25 years in my collection and still has a fresh appearance to it. I can't really detect any aging on that piece or on any of my other pieces. It gives me hope for the future of my amber collection :). It is probably also a good thing to store many less valuable pieces inside the same box as the valuable pieces so the oxygen in the box will also react with the less valuable pieces. Just a theory though :)

    Do you know that the biggest round piece of amber was once stolen from this museum? And it was found very quickly because the burglars were trying to sell it to experts and they knew that it is one of a kind...
