Most wanted amber specimens by the Amber Collectors
#balticamber #paleontology #fossillovers
This is amber collecting video! And in it we discuss what kind of amber specimens are the most sought after by the amber collectors:). Mostly featuring baltic amber and burmite amber. Some inclusions are rare but less expensive, and others are very expensive and quite common. In this video im skipping holy grail specimens as it deserves its own video!

I have bought a lot of rough from ebay, even found an enhydro. Hard to find the time to polish all of them though!
Great collection i'm fascinated by the Amber you have.
Most of the pictures i was showing was not from my collection im afraid😁🫣
@ Yes i know.always watched your night time videos.seeing Amber washed up .
Thanks!:)
I got a zigrasimecia specimen I think specifically perrichoti for 1.25$ usd. It's probably my luckiest purchase in my collection.
Good snipe😁, in this video i was saying collectors prices - firstly when specimen is 100% identified and not random "ant", then preservation quality, size of stone and clearness of stone, and ofcourse quality of specimen and size of it:), lots of factors
@ I bought it in miscellaneous batch! I saw it thinking it might be an ant and bought it. It's definitely zigrasimecia and complete! It's so tiny, maybe 2 or 3mm. One of my favorite pieces because of how clear it is. Unfortunately the ant isn't positioned in a way to easily see its unique mandibles 😔
Thanks for making this! I just saw this on a big screen and it was amazing to see all of the details. That spider in the web was beautifull
Watching the video on the big screen was a correct choice😁💪
Hi Jarek, really fun video as usual! Based on my experience collecting amber fossils would like to add some more information: With regard to spider like creatures: In Burmese amber you can find Uropygi whip scorpions as well which are about as rare as the camel spiders you mention. Even more rare in the spider family are the laniatores armoured harvestmen of which only a handful of specimens are known in Burmese amber. Scorpions, whip spiders and whip scorpions in Burmese amber are usually a shedded exoskeleton (exuvia) and not the real creature itself. Honorable mention in Burmite is the extinct lagonome gopide spider which is a hunting spider with eyes on the side of its head. The assassin spiders are indeed much more common in Burmese amber: They are known for having a long 'neck'. Some extinct species in Burmese amber have a 'neck' that extends forward and not upward, ike modern day pelican assassin spiders. Of course an honorable mention in the spider family goes to ticks. These are uncommon in Burmese amber. Engorged ticks however are very rare. Velvet mites are chubby and fossil velvet mites are commonly mistaken for engorged ticks. Honorable mention for the grasshoppers is the extinct elcanidae grasshopper which is uncommon in Burmese amber and has original pigmentation in the wings In my experience: all enhydros in amber eventually dry out. Maybe applying a thin seal of polyurethan resin on the amber piece can slow down the drying, but collectors probably should not buy enhydro's for too high prices! In my opinion in Burmese amber dandelion seed hairs are often mistaken for mammalian hairs. Plant fibers that are hair like are more common in amber than people think. The feathers in Burmese amber mostly belong to Enanthiornithes bird like dinosaurs. When you find two feathers inside a single piece of Burmese amber, there is a really good chance that these are the twin tail feathers of an enanthiornithe. These twin tail feathers seem to have broken off quite easily when coming in contact with the tree resin, which is surprising. A well known pretty five petal flower in Burmese amber is the Tropidogyne pikei which is uncommon and should be affordable for collectors with a low budget. Honorable beetle mention is the Passalopalpidae scarab beetle in Burmese amber which is a great choice for a collector who wants a large beetle for an affordable price. A real mosquito (culicidae) in amber is always rare, but least rare in Dominican amber. If a collector is looking for a fossil blood sucking creature in amber a biting midge Ceratopogonidae in Burmese amber is a really good affordable choice. These can sometimes be found engorged with blood as well! I am looking forward to your holy grail amber fossils video! 😀👍
Whoow thsts really usefull information! You know your stuff and i appreciate your comment! If you have social media, would love to get in touch with you for advices in future videos regarding specific specimens😁
@@Amberscape Hi Jarek, Glad you find this information usefull! I am not on social media but we can correspond by email about amber topics if you like.
Are dominican culicidae more rare than Myanmar amber? I've seen a many selling culicidae in Dominican amber, but I've just twice seen in Myanmar amber.
A nice overview Jarek! I hope you had fun going through your collection to make this video. Its important to look through your collection every now and then in my opinion 😅
This video was a blast but took quite long to produce it:D
Great vid
Thanks you! Glad you liked that!:)
please make your own amber alcohol! 🙏 brilliant video too
Haha, maybe i will😁😁
@ would make for a great video!
That was really interesting, thanks for the vid! I wonder how many queen ants have been found in amber.
Atleast some for sure! And my pleasure😁💪
Hi, are pine cones in amber generally rare no matter the size? Or are the big ones considered rare? Also, keep up the good work!
In general i havent seen many! But big ones always more rare, why? Youve got one?😁
@Amberscape yeah I think so, I too started to cut ambers 1 or 2 years ago and it seems like I've got one. But it's like 1 centimeters long and you can also see where it entered the amber.
I was lucky enough to have a friend find me an enhydro termite in amber. Might be copal but still a really nice find. Thank you for going over all the information!
It was just a fraction of information and specimen types! Glad it was helpfull😁
Very nicely done and informative video, especially if someone wants to start a collection.... Thank you for the super thanks and kind words and cool that the pictures came in handy. I for one would love to see more parts of such videos. Greetings From The Cave Of Amber ;)
Super puper handy!😁 thanks again!🙏🙏
My favorite is the water trapped in the bubble, first time I've seen that. Imagine, that little drop of water, millions and millions of years old..wow. Really enjoyed this video!
Yeees big enhydros are impresive and unique!😁
Hi
So much weed. Is it just because of storm?
Yes:) baltic see is the most shallow sea in the world, during the storm the bottom of the sea getts disturbed
@@Amberscape I walk many miles along East coast UK beaches and am lucky if I find one small piece. I am very envious! 🙂
I think that sometimes such damaged or empty ammonites are very valuable because they show the animal's anatomical structure well. The suture line amazed me.
Yes at first it was exciting, but most of the bigger very empty inside so now i want complete ones!😁 with iredescent shells😩
It's so cool that you got to name a species of Cockroach! It's interesting to me that we find a lot of Echinoids and Belemnites here in Norfolk but Amber is rare, yet you have it the other way round there.
Would love to find some echinoids for a change too😁
@@Amberscape If you ever visit East Anglia I'll go out and help you find some if you like, they come up on the beaches and ploughed fields.
They also discovered in Banyalbufar, Mallorca the fossil of the oldest mammal(280 million years old) ever found in the WORLD.
Whao! Awesome:))
Now the oldest mosquito fossil in the world is the one discovered in Mallorca 247 million years old.
This one is oldest discovered in amber😁
This video scratched an itch I didn't know I had. I loved seeing the unique process you have for finding Amber and I can't believe the size and beauty of the pieces you find! Brilliant video.
Hey! Glad you enjoyed it!😁🙏🔥
Awesome!
Thanks!:)
Hi, I have bought a brooch on Etsy which is not real amber. How can I prove it definitevely?
It's not fair for science communicaters to have such incredible accents. /j Those are two of my favourite things.

Lovely little nautilus. Not so common from the callovian/oxfordian
I bet! My first nautilus😁
You know, I like the big broken amonite for the snowflake suture line s and the multi colors. So, I could see it displayed standing with a lens in front and maybe a spot light, so you could see the sutures and the colors.
When i take these broken ammonites i end up happy in the end - but on the spot when i find bigger broken one im always dissapointed and want to toss it away😁🫠
Thanks for sharing your adventures ! Love watching !!! ❤
Thank you Vicky! Comments like this keeps me going 😁🙏
Amazing video!! Thanks for sharing!!
🙏😁
Enjoyed that extremely muddy trip Jarek ,you do find some beautiful ammonites in that quarry.Well done on saving that little one and a nice little Nautilus super find ❤
Thanks David! Muddy but fun😁
nice🎉
💪
Nice tour 👍 After 40 years collecting fossils, i learned that they havn't to be perfect. Someonce are looking more interesting and beautiful like your peace of the ammonite mould with the rip and praise lines, for me, that was the coolest find 😉🤠 Keep going with this verry nice video-presentations 🤘 Best greedings from Bavaria.
Thanks man! Appreciate the kind words😤🙏! Best regards from lithuania:)
Large complete ammonites seem to still evade you, but it seems you had a nice time anyway, despite all the mud 😂
Ye man, statistically speaking i think i already should have atleast one complete big one..😫
Wow...great finds. I like that you could get enough prep to see them but still have them contained in the host rock. Really cool to see that. Stay safe and Happy New Year!
Looks more impresive when its in native matrix😁, i only remove pieces fully out of matrix if they are super small:)
The car was absolutely cooked after MUD RIDE
It was cooked even more when we were going home trough the same road😆
Who won?
why can i scratch off the dull surface of my irregular shaped amber beads with my fingernail?
Maybe its very oxidized, fragile crust formed
still so fckn love this vid
:D 🥳

You had a great year, lots of great finds, congratulations! Happy Christmas Jarek 👍
Thanks dude! Merry christmas to you too!:))
Nice to see our Neighbour-Country-Collectors are a bit in glacial erratics, too! Precious finds, esp. some of the jurassic faunas are shared by the glaciers to our regions, too... The "molluscs in quartzite" at 7:00 seem to be brachiopods in dolomite from the devonian. Similar erratics are rare finds at our baltic shores. Merry cristmas from the Northern-Germany "Geschiebe"collectors. (PS: if you are interested in discussions, determinations or literature about the fossils found in glacial erratics we can get in contact....)
These brachiopods are awesome though😁, merry christmas! :)
