First little turbo 4.3 s10 vlog

- First little peek at this near zero-budget project I am working on. 1997 Chevy S10. The turbocharger, exhaust manifolds and silicone pre-turbo inlet are original GMC Syclone/Typhoon parts I bought a few years ago from someone on the S10 forum. I know I am opening myself up to a special kind of challenge by using the stock intake with extra injectors and a piggyback but I'm up for a little excitement. A proper intake solution will be somewhere down the road.
This is a 2wd extended cab with the 5-speed manual.
I rebuilt the engine about 4 years back and it has a '93-95 CPI Vortec cam (largest stock cam available) stock 5.3 LS v8 valvesprings on Comp Cam retainers, and a slightly tweaked stock tune on a '02 "0411" PCM which happens to be the same computer as early LS engine applications including trucks, camaro/firebirds etc.
To all you others commenting...he’s not answering our questions so I suggest we kidnap him and make him talk...say...by waterboarding him etc? Who with me and can I borrow someones vehicle and some gas $$ ???
Lol, I am always confused with the RUclips algorithm that makes this first early vid the most viewed by far.
Ok, an attempt at some answers to your other comment:
The oil pan is stock for a '97. I believe all '96 and up 4.3s have it.
The turbocharger AND the exhaust manifolds are factory original GMC syclone/typhoon.
Tuning is now being done through a combination of HP tuners on the GM ECU (which has been swapped to the stock computer used in '01 and up s10s and blazers)
as well as using a 2nd-hand Greddy Emanage piggyback box to drive a pair of secondary enrichment injectors. This uses upgraded injectors available for the 4.3s to replace the earlier poppets (still the stock flow rate) The secondary injectors are the same kind as the primary. I used a stub of the stock rigid plastic fuel line to connect a hose to each injector. I will try to get another video posted soon showing it's current form.
Finally! A video on 4.3 turbo build. Doing one as well! Thanks.
Please continue with this build . I have an 89 4.3 block and turbo manifolds already .. just been sitting in the shop . I’d like to see how yours turns out
Just looking around... Planning to make my 1995 S10 SS Turbo...
Nice video buddy...!
So a thought occurred to me once. What if a guy used a trans cooler and a small electric oil pump maybe from a old skidoo and a large oil catch can for a resivour . And used smokeless 2 stroke oil to lube the turbo would it be better for the turbo? It's engineered for high rpm and if your turbo seals were weak you could just get like strawberry scented smokeless oil and then pick up babes. I mean if your tail pipe smells good ;) but seriously though you would never have to circulate cooked oil back into your engine.
Get it done man I’m thinking about turbo my 4wd single cab s10
1 CammedSS I hope that I can find a 4WD single cab chassis to make my 1995 SS AWD....!
Good luck with your upgrade buddy..!
David Mendoza thanks man still swapping my frame over as we speak, I’m thinking of posting videos of it running I’m gonna turbo the 4.3 a little different then the way this video is using a Hobbs switch and nitrous sprayers connected to extra fuel pump that kicks on after 4psi of Boston
Thanks for sharing..!
Looking to do this with stock scyclone style manifolds yet retain the stock pcm and run at 6-8psi. im definitely going to borrow ideas from you if they end up working!
Where can I find turbo manifolds for cheap or at most 250ish for the 4.3 I’m going to turbo my 98 blazer lol
Look good
Were did you get your cast aluminum oil pan and the turbo? How are you tuning your ECU and/or Air Fuel ratio? I’d really appreciate it if you could give me this info and to elaborate on more through text or Email? Thx man! I’m diggin it so far!
I want to know where you got the turbo headers bc I need some for my 2000 chevy blazer
You live in Spokane wa?
Ugh your using a different ecu? How did you do this does it have any drawbacks and what benefits can one expect?
The ecu swap is the only way to tune properly under boost, but it's a stock GM part. You will have to get someone to flash a tune to it or purchase HP tuners and do it yourself.

What’s up with fuel?
My please new update! Thanks
what's the part number on the spring retainers
These are comp cams 787 retainers. A bonus of going with the beehive springs and retainers is that the changed geometry of the springs & retainers lets you run a higher valve lift than unmodified vortec heads traditionally allow with stock type springs. Here's some good info on that: www.thirdgen.org/forums/tech-general-engine/642122-who-here-running-ls6.html
@@DefenistrationAlley
thanks
@@DefenistrationAlley hey you think when I boost mine I'd blow the valves open stock?
I have some 36lb spider injectors if you want them.?
I knew they were out there, but were out of my price range? If you're suggesting a donation I'd love to give them a try. Can you send a message with more info if you're legit?
Man, I would have loved those injectors. :(
Hey I live in Spokane and am trying to turbo my s10, would appreciate to know a Chevy guy in the area, PM me or reply lemme know thanks
