Audio is a little out of sync due to the webcam having a weird delay. I tried to account for it but I think I just ended up making it worse. #techwithJimmy
You had one job😂
Nah kidding. Love your videos. Even out of sync🤷♂️
Now I have even more trouble letting your wise words about this game sink in...
* silently sneaks out, sets profile to private, changes username, buys a plane ticket to unknown location with cash, takes another identity, and some other stuff 'it' will not say here because they will find me otherwise :)
Nice review Jimmy, thank you :)
I'm glad you said that. I thought I has having computer issues.
Still unverified??
to be fair i just got done watching and didnt even notice
The sounds in this game are awesome. It really nails that classic tuned turbo noise.
That's what I was gonna say, the sound design is fantastic
Michael W you like the game Grid
@@maskhairil2286 i mean i like the sounds but the rest is meh, if ita on discount buy it, it isnt worth full price sjbce most content is dlc, i still love it though
Imagine if they had sound design like this in a free roam like horizon, omfg that would be a dream
Good to know that the game feels right on the wheel. I don't have a super pro wheel (g29) but i was hoping to use it on Grid, I too am a bit tired of Race sims, and GT sport is a bit streamlined.
This game definitely fills a gap for a more arcade yet challenging racing game. Can't wait to play it
I used to play the first GRID and i loved it, especialy the drift maps.
Not nearly enough circuits for this to be a classic.
Looks like gt2 seattle curcuit course
I like grid for casual game time . But it makes u feel like u play against drivers tho not that good ones . The reaction and aggressiveness of the ai is fun . But positioning ur car correctly makes it way easier that it should Physics feel meh
I like big boost and I cannot lie.
I can’t stand when people bag on “arcade” style
75 % of us started this hobby in an “arcade” style game!!!!
yeah literally!! I mean cmon ppl, arcade is where the fun is at
Yeah! PGR 3 and 4 for the win!!
Yep, NFS Most Wanted 2005 and the first GRID (Demo version) was where I started.
@@TheGrinningSkull Outside of Mario Kart and games of the like I'd never really played a racing game with real cars and with a more "real" feel. Then I got a used original Xbox and it only came with PGR2, so I gave it a shot. It was the only game I owned on that console for a good three months because it was all I wanted to play. I honestly can't wait to play this because it's been so long since we've had a well done road racing arcade title(Horizon is good, but it's less about the racing and more about the open world).
Arcade for me was and is still more fun then simracing even tho i have a decent wheel
The main reason why i enjoy games like GRID more than most other racing games was that the AI made more mistakes and acted more like an actual race driver. it makes any race have that splash of variety and intense moments like the ones you had.
@Funky das antigas Catᴼᴿᴵᴳᴵᴻᴬᴸ yeah this is prevalent in all of the grid games. The ai rams you around almost every corner and their cars are heavier than yours
@Funky das antigas Catᴼᴿᴵᴳᴵᴻᴬᴸ Was it really? The a.i in Toca was much cleaner despite the ramming. I loved racing against them tbh
@Funky das antigas Catᴼᴿᴵᴳᴵᴻᴬᴸ Ouch! That must've sucked!
No they don't do that in Forza no ?lunges taking other AI out , locking up and loosing the rear end All seen in Forza (yawn)
GRID is fantastic, miles better than gran turismo and assetto corsa type of boring games. This game, downloaded GRID Autosport on my laptop to play with Ps4 controller and blown me away! after that I hardly touched Gran turismo sport on ps4 lol. Assetto corsa is just useless on ps4, shouldn’t have bought it. Codemasters literally have no weaknesses in thier games, fun , hardcore , intense , immense and bloody fantastic!!
Jimmy where's "F1 beat the pole position time" series? It was great
heck yeah
Still fixing the main rig
No

Ever since I got a wheel, I can’t play racing games with a game pad anymore
I bought logitech g920 wheel yesterday and im having trouble with it whilst trying to play Grid the wheel keeps spinning left and right non stop and becomes unplayable can someone please help me iv tried everything i.e firmware update reset power cycles etc
only if its an DD wheel other than that enjoy the input-lag
Same, though the big exception to that is Trackmania, which would be an absolute nightmare to play on a wheel, I think.
@@shitpostingstevebecauseall6279
Never played it
@@souldry It's an extremely grippy racer. The best I can do to describe it is if the childhood experience of playing Hot Wheels was a video game. But because of the insane speeds, you need to be able to make extremely small adjustments at a moment's notice, and I just don't think something as unwieldy as a wheel would be a good fit.
The sounds and damage is what i really enjoyed on the first GRID, this looks really fun aswell does it have Touge races?
Yes I think they said it does
It does!
"Touge" track is here, but a proper "Touge" type of race like original game is not here unfortunately (at launch).
but I'm very doubt Codies will include it as free update later.
@@shanedritez9024 You're in luck, there's a Touge based game about to be published called Touge Attack on Facebook
Nope touge and drifting is not in this game
Looks about 1000% more fun than yet another dry, boring hardcore sim. As a guy who actually raced in SCCA (amateur), I can tell you that most sims today are harder to drive than a real car. And several teach you to do things (like suddenly lifting mid-corner ) that would get you into big trouble IRL.
Totally agreed. Games like Gran turismo sport and assetto corsa really dont seem real.. like wtf braking 200 miles away to stop in gran turismo in the corner. And assetto corsa - car shakes and handels horrible, even my brothers and cousins at my house are very bored to stare at this boring so called “sim” figure.. In reality you can still enter at fair speed. Literally, I went to the track for Lamborghini Gallardo 2010 V10 driving experience and kept braking like the game while I could have entered corners much faster. As I progressed on more laps I understood the aspect and hell that I can tell it was nothing like these games (project cars 2 seems the closest best simulation game), then I just boosted along the corners, being a fan of a lamborghini I just knew so much about it - The glorious V10 Naturally Aspirated engine has a symphony like no other. I think GRID puts you in a realistic scenario because the car actually feels solid, fast and throaty. GRiD Autosport is my favourite from the racing games I have tried so far, gran turismo isn’t too bad but can improve on racing honestly, Assetto Corsa is just unplayable - honestly a full shit game(£30 was a waste). GRID Autosport type of games are miles better than the new brake boring sims. Not gonna lie but its really not fun driving so slow and braking everywhere unrealistically like in Turismo sport. Only that if GRiD has pit stops it would have made it almost perfect! Heres the truth, accept it or not 🤷🏼♂️ 😁
The GT3 cars of Assetto Corsa are realistic. There are several pro drivers, who compare it to their real life experience and lap times. Also many street cars especially from Porsche are very realistic, as stated by Porsche themselves and their customers.
...and btw i love GRID! :)
@@theweeknd2725 Assetto corsa is so unplayable, sim racers are actually getting a go on real racing cars thanks to Assetto physics...
Lets face it, Assetto Corsa is not unplayable, in fact, its considered one of the best simulators ever, the problem is obviously your lack of skills, and the fact you call it a "game" says it all.
On Assetto corsa you'll just take corners as fast as real life, you can put identical lap times on tracks compared to real life, you can practice your real life driving skills and general racing maturity...
Saying GRID is better, is absolutely bullshit and says a lot about your "driving style"...
The sense of speed is amazing! Something I feel many current racing games lack.
It looks scary in some places. I like!
I think you can improve those things by just changing the FOV view but yeah, this sense of speed is really nice
Yeah I felt the same through those high speed corners especially at the bottom of the hill seems like the type of game I'd enjoy
It's a lot because of the sliding. Sliding ist not faster, but looks faster.
Not the only reasons for the sense of speed. Forza horizon has close city streets and what not but the sense of speed is terrible. Getting the sense of speed good is an art and design choice
This track is similar to seattle circuit from gran turismo
My thought as well.
@@RVRCloset Getting PGR4 vibes off of it too
@@brianmayr539 Never seen that one, got over to PC after PS2.
It is also a track from the first GRID (if I'm remembering it correctly)
@@smothdude yes
GRID: Autosport was excellent on the wheel. I've spent more than 200 hours playing it and it was fantastic.
I 1.500
IRLANTII STI holy shit you must be god at that game
Finally I found someone who enjoys Autosport as much as I do. Quite a few people hate that game for some reason.
the original GRID is AMAZING with a wheel! i had so much fun driving it with my Logitech G27 back in the day
@G B 007 Yeah!
I can't get it working with my logitech driving force GT. I either can get it working to some degree, so the wheel and pedals work right at least, but have zero FFB, or I have FFB just right, but the wheel does nothing, and pedals are the wrong way around.
I tried for hours, scoured the forums for solutions, but nothing I tried would get it working properly.
Is it just me or does this San Francisco track feel like Gran Turismo Seattle with the big jumps?
If need for speed had the driving mechanics of Grid, we would have a really great racing game :(
I would love that
hopefully the hopes are still great for the NFS heat game.
The problem with Need for Speed is its lack of identity - ever since Underground, it's tried to copy the latest fashion instead of sticking to its guns (except for the brief Criterion era).
Though the drift-heavy handling is kind of a problem too. If only it at least were more like Asphalt, it could be bearable...
Holy smoke this car sounds incredible!!!
I have to say cars in this game sound great. Especially if you are in tunnel and you downshift 😁
I want to see a new instalment of Driver for the PS4 with a wheel.
Good God yes
Yes please.
Great video Jimmy, the original GRID was fantastic the sequels not so much IMO, this looks like a return to form for codemasters.
That R32 sounds epic!
Nice to see a wheel being used for change and cockpit cam!!! 99 percent of vids have been gamepad and chase cam.
This game is almost completely different with onboard view and a wheel. Very cool to watch, really.
When I drive any of car racing games I drive with first person view without board and wheel(much better speed impressum)...but this view is also good!
As much as I appreciate CodeMasters finally making a new GRID title... why the hell didn’t they call it GRID 3?
Because it's the fourth one ?
Because reboot and marketing.
Because marketeers don't care about consistency, they just care about the way the name makes them feel.
@@michelvanbriemen3459 Did you just said "Need For Speed Most Wanted" ? Or was it "Need For Speed Hot Pursuit" ? :p
It's hip and cool to "reboot titles".
This game sounds, looks and feels so awesome and action oriented with simulation touch.
Gonna be a great game.
I honestly really like the Grid games... Far more than the "sim" games... Especially so with a wheel. The handling always just felt "natural". The cars had balance.
I always plays grid games with steering wheel. So much fun. It can get bored faster if you keeps playing on the gamepad
So true best game on the wheel I think the most fun
Is it just me or is the audio out of sync when he's speaking?
Ughh. I wouldn’t have noticed that if you hadn’t said that now I can’t unnotice it 😂😂
No, it's the low FPS.
It's out of sync. He tried to fix it, but managed to make it worse.
That‘s a real racing game not like the others were it os about cars or simulation no here it‘s abour pure racing that‘s why i like grid
I disagree, all racing games are about racing. Codemasters just condensed the physics into a perfectly fun engine. For most to get into and enjoy.
2 sheds?????!!! priviledged boi!!!
The kurbs in grid are quite agrassive
Zandvoort: are you challenging me?!?!?
Points for shifting? Really??
IKR?
Exactly what I wanted to know, great video Jimmer! I need a break from iRacing and GRID is looking better and better!
The moment you raced on the wheel I could already see that it was a huge amount of fun. I was sceptical 🤨 thinking controller will be the go. I’m getting this for sure. V8 Supercars gameplay I would love Jimmy. Thanks mate!
I know this comment is old, but I tried the V8 touring supercars series with a wheel, as I thought it was too difficult on a gamepad, and the difference was immediately apparent, as with a wheel you can really tell the cars what to do and make small corrections
@@taquito1561
This game's handling imo is sometimes okay and sometimes can get too oversteery. I completed 75% of the game with a pad, then decided to do the rest with a wheel, and I had way more fun with the wheel. I can't wait to try out the next grid game with a wheel.
@@Pennycilin3 same, except I think I did like 85% with controller, so the stuff I did with the wheel were races I hadn't done but also replayed races
When I caught the stream the other day, I was rather alarmed at the lack of a sizeable grid size and I thought, "only 16 cars? Really Codies??" But soon after that I caught a vid on YT - from the 1971 British Saloon Car race at Crystal Palace, with Murray Walker on comms, a full 25 years before "OHHH.... IT'S TARQUINI!!!" That race only featured 16 cars, it contained Camaros, Mini Coopers and a fair few modified Escorts (one with an ex-F1 gearbox, one with F1 tyres, and if I recall, one with a V8 sneaked in). There was also a Vauxhall Viva driven off its nuts by the legendary Gerry Marshall, a name who is absolutely synonymous with the Griffin - yes, even more than John Cleland. There, said it. If you haven't seen it, I urge you to see it, never mind that it's B&W. That race reminded me of the type of race that Grid offers. Absolutely mental.
FPS=Mouse and keyboard Car games=Wheel and peddles
John Damage "peddles"
3:16 So we're just going to ignore the bonkers 360-degree spin and recovery by the AI to stay ahead of Jimmer, then.
EDIT: Obviously Jimmer paid attention for his own spin at 7:39. Noice!
I didnt even notice that😅 good thing the other cars were there to act as a bumper
Jimmy, would you compare the steering feel with the F1 2019 game?
Codemasters must be paying loads of people, Grid is utter shit.
Driving with a wheel is shit, cars are floaty.
AI will push you to the wall or cause you spin with no reason. I do like an arcade game but this is crap.
I Play the game using a Logitech G29 wheel and absolutely love it, it's nice to have fun gaming for a change instead of grinding out laps just to gain a few tenths 🏎️💨
Ik it's old, but yeh. Grid feels 10 times better than Forza Horizon 4 on a wheel.
Nice. Looks like a blast. I really enjoyed the last Grid. Would be even more fun with NLRV3 motion and Accuforce. Motion worked on the last one so here hoping it will here as well. :)
Wow, do autosport work with the V3? Then I have to download that again!!
Never tried that with wheel and pedals, but that game was pretty fun even with a pad, really nice crash effects! 😁
@@RVRCloset yeap it works. Check it out.
@@TJRSIM Cool, thanks mate!
First thing in the morning! 😎🍻
@@TJRSIM Just tried it, and both wheel and motion where better than expected! 😁👍🍻
@@RVRCloset sweet! I need to download it again and play it to compare to the new Grid when it comes
Mate, playing w/out TCS in the first GRID was total suicide…
*THOSE WERE THE DAYS…*
Am I the only one who doesn’t have this camera view? On ps4
I still play the original grid from time to time. Really looking forward to this. thank you
I remember that R32 in GRID 2, my god that car was op
Codemasters and their washed out visuals and smog 🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮
To be fair to them, it's a lot sharper on my monitor. YT compression ruins racing games.
Jimmy Broadbent no, it’s the game, all there games nowadays look the same, they use too much smog.
man i loved this track on the original. Was able to take those corners at the bottom of the hill with no brake. oooo good time... i need to get this game big time
Is the ffb better than GTsport?
finally somebody answer this bloody question .. i hope its as "good" as f1 games or dirt
I am also very curious as to whether it feels anything like dirt rally or not. I know the tarmac physics are shit on alot but I don't mind them, and a slight adjustment for a tarmac focused game would make them damn near perfect for me!
If this feels like dirt rally I'm fucking down 100%
@@tylervardy3917 for tarmac simcade .. the f1 games are the reference for me .. grand turismo is also very good but it way more sim than grid .. forza is off .. i dont really know why .. im like u .. if its as good as other Codemasters games .. in down 100%
I get the impression that this would make for a good arcade machine game, after all there was one for Grid 2008
GeoffAznable
I loved the grid arcade game. Machine
The original GRiD was HORRENDOUS with a wheel so this is good to hear.
Brrrootherr!
Jimmy did you change any settings on csl for it?
Thx jimmy. As soon as you said "floaty" i knew that i can spend my money elsewhere. Codemasters overall do a good job with visuals, sound, ai and stuff..... BUT the floaty feeling, or weightless feeling of their games got on my nerves over the years.
way better than forza horizon imo.
Autosport was a gamepad/wheel type of game you could match your gamepad times on racenet challenges on many cars but i saw in some cars gamepad was just faster. If 2019 is more a wheel game it would be good and seeing improved force feedback will make me happy as i played autosport with minimal vibration, rotation and weight to have greater control in an arcadish game. What would be bomb is that all the cars had different steering angles like in simulators
Look at all those Subarus in front of you :^)
Savage 😅
I put hundreds of hours on the original with keyboard controls and under 30fps on an ancient rig. Eventually it made me save for a steering wheel and from there there was not turning back. Together with test drive unlimited it gave me a love of motoring and sim racing. Glad to see codemasters did more justice to this one than the previous grid games!
Unverified Boy. You made me laugh and cry at the same time😂 Hope YT will verify you asap
That was sick! could not take my eye of the screen, bloody awesome watch. And the sound was great.
I've been asking this question a lot, but what about GRiD 2019 makes it different and worth my money? To me, there doesn't seem to be anything particularly unique to make the game desirable. I'm legitimately asking, what am I missing?
Are there any simcade track racers out there that are as visceral and intense with smart ai??? You either get hard-core Sim games only good with a wheel or forza which is open world.. so your question is kind of dumb..
Arcade games are good
Warning, Wang's and cracks in this video
Loving the John Watson 4 wheel drift reference...was a balls out lap by Berger back in 1995 :D
So Jimmy do you have any FFB on your CSL wheel, because I have ZERO using my Thrustmaster TX and I'm not alone based on what I see in the Codemasters forums. I find it kind of amazing that no one's preview videos using wheels mentioned how weak/non-existant the FFB effects are.
Actually grid with a wheel is SUPER FUN any far my favorite racing game with a wheel so far, I’ve played wrc , asseta corza, wreckfest, crew 2, formula 2016 and let me tell you grid is the best on g29 wheel in my opinion it’s very satisfying , also I’ve played nfs heat and payback with it (which isn’t great no force feedback on those games, also not compatible with hot pursuit )
Usually running Rf2 while mostly pimping setups, getting constant frames, searching for best FFB values, waitin in warmup/formation laos, i am so glad spending this 30 Bucks for instant fun and feel out of the box ! Podium DD1 paired with Sprint pedals were found instantly, calibrated and ready to go!! No further adjusting, amazing, using the rf2 settings on wheel just feeling right, not compareable in details but enough to have fun. Hopefully they correct the min Fov of 55 which adds this immensiv sense of speed while normally i am using 20 on sims. Seat should be made moveable too with coming patches. So far even no prob with that spartanic multiplayer section cause it works fine be in the race with others in a minute or two, beside that career on hard level suits nice too. not to forget graphics fluid and nice as hell on High settings with Gtx1080. No Sli profile so far, but really dont missing it. So these are just my two or three pence, have fun guys !
Can somebody please help me out. I got a Logitech g29, recently and I’ve been playing mainly dirt 4 and it’s really fun. (After I turn ALL force feedback options down a lot) first time I put my foot on accelerator, everything was on MAX and I thought that I was on a Nasa Space Shuttle, for a moment because we almost took off. Anyway, grid handles alright in general, in grid but taking sharp corners is almost impossible. In dirt I can fly round hairpin turns and in grid, my car just won’t turn. Is this because I have steering wheel rotation calibration at 290 ? How do I change this? It’s pissing me right off. 👍
I tuned to this game yesterday, set up the wheel. It was awful with the wheel. Like glass tyres. Too much deadzone on any settings, and the wobbly inputs. The hell why?! On any corner in old Grid Autosport I had more steering than the total accumulated steering input in Grid 2019
Fucking love Arcade games. Grid, Crew 2, NFS series, Horizon 4 all up there alongside Project Cars 2 and the rest imo. Also Forza 7, wherever that fits in.
Have you ever played another Grid game 'till now? All Grid s are awesome with the wheel. Enough Arcade so it's not frustrating and enough Sim so you can't take corners while in the air :)))) This type of ArSim game, same as the Shift1/2 from EA.
Jimmy Hello friends
Instantly smashes into back of a bunch of cars.
Yeh, I don’t think they consider you as a friend. 😭 I love the racing in grid, I just wish there was WAY more tracks. Feels bit shallow. But I do love the racing. Like you said, it’s not a serious racer, you can chill and have fun and there should be more of these racers. I just bout Logitech g29 set and I’m bout to buy a racing rig with the frame and seat.
Jimmy Broadbent Can i ask do you know if it will work with a Simucube 20nm DD wheel? I have a 20nm mige motor so the same as you only the 20nm model and really want a fun game and not serious but I dont want to buy it if I can not use DD wheel.
I'm not expecting amazing ffb and maybe a little tinkering but would be great if you could let me know when possible as I can imagine your busy.
Merry Xmas Jimmy Broadbent and have a Great New Year.
And well done with the channel and all you have achieved, may 2020 be as good if not better for you mate.
I lived on the Grid game, we even had teams MDR Mad Dog Racing and i made weekly racing for 1hour races!!!! it was so much fun!!!!!!!! icut1........
It's Actually fun game specially it have a option for Arms and wheel disable, I can line up my Thrustmaster TX wheel like in the real cockpit view without seeing the Annoying A.I Arms and wheel. This the only game that have this type of option not even forza 4 & 5.
Hi, I am using a heusinkveld sprint pedal but the Gird game is not detecting it. (it actually shows the pedal name but I can not do any config nor does the pedal work). How did you config and make your pedal work on Grid?
Thanks
I fully get the issue with people caring too much about realism, i love games with "arcade" or "simcade" type physics and more about experiencing a bunch of different cars and tracks but the thing that gets me with codemasters games is that you have 2 choices, repeat the start until you overtake everyone by turn 1 and the rest of the race is so easy its boring or 2, race properly and have actual fun overtaking the AI one by one but you will never win as the leader will be 10 seconds ahead by the time you overtake the slow 2nd-last place AIs...
Apparently this game is not compatible with any thrustmaster wheels with force feedback. Not good enough codemasters.
I already pre-ordered this game. My love for this series knows no bounds, even if I thought the second game was a step backwards and the third was a quick apology for the second one.
Well thats an accurate timeline of the old grid games
I’m a bit both ways about using the wheel or game pad for Grid. Wheel is always more fun, but having a game I can plonk down and play without setting anything up is also nice. But that is probably more Forza Horizon than this.
Fuck me. Track from the original? This track was used in the demo version wich i played for hours before the game launched. :D
your name in grid is clickbait. you have a month left until then.
Thanks for your feedback and honest review jimmy 👍
@Jimmy this game reminds me of NFS Shift, what do you think, are they kind of comparable? or to which game would you compare it?
grid 2008 is a fucking masterpiece, still play it a lot. couldn't get into 2, autosport or 2019, just missing that same magic
The rev limiter sound tho omg... idk why they just can't make Forza Horizon have the same amount of details in their car sounds D:
I will still sit back and wait due to the recent scandal of DiRT Rally 2, that Season Pass #2 really upsets tons of people.
What scandal? (I dont own DR2)
@@SimonTysland Basically they cheated those who pre-ordered the deluxe edition of Dirt Rally 2 shamelessly.
With the release of the second season pass which, when bundled with the first season pass plus the base game, the game becomes "Super Deluxe Edition," everyone is ought to pay for extra contents coming after that, deluxe edition owners are no exception.
I bought logitech g920 wheel yesterday and im having trouble with it whilst trying to play Grid the wheel keeps spinning left and right non stop and becomes unplayable can someone please help me iv tried everything i.e firmware update reset power cycles etc
Will this have triple screen support ? I hope so
Pete let’s hope for it since it’s 2019 and the Grid series deserve it.
Shit game. Could tell the second you got to drive. Feels so unrealistic and arcadey. Nothing wrong for an arcade game, but not playable with a steering wheel imo.
I may not be a sim racer but my arcade racing love actually came from arcade racing cabinets. Where 20 dollars could last for good amount of time :) (outrun, daytona 500, sega rally etc to name a few)
steering wheels made it this far in to gaming world and yet people would play race game with a joypads..... :D when i was a kid id play COD with steering wheel xD
I don't mind playing casual racers with a pad, but it's about time a game pad specifically designed with racing in mind was made again. I miss the ol Negcon.
This is perfect! I just picked this game up to play with my Logitech wheel and petal playseat racing chair.
Graphics is insane on xbox series x. Fun arcade racing game. Feels like driving a go kart with drifting style.
U sound like that dude on the radio that be like left turn ahead 40 degree turn now slow down u turn coming up shift down 3 2 ok curvy road 700 meters
This guy sounds like Murray Walker . Should commentate f1
Just wondering, why is this video demonitized?
