Would you please upload videos without music as well? Music dictates the way we feel about things as we view them or read them, and creates a false narrative that doesn't necessarily have any true cognitive relation to what we're viewing or reading. Peterson is a man who's thoughts I deeply respect, but it's nigh impossible to actually listen to what he's saying and look at what he's doing with that incessant music in the background. Save the music for blockbusters. Let the good advice run free of it.
FYI everyone, check out "essential truth"- most of these clips in this video can be found within the huge amounts of individual vids that essential truth has uploaded
God bless you! Every day matters and everyday you matter. Don’t know what type of life you have had but just know that if you are unhappy or unsatisfied the only way for true peace and happiness is knowing Jesus Christ. I urge you if you haven’t accepted him to call out to Jesus and ask him to show you truth. If you ask, God will answer you. I’m praying for you today🙏❤️
I love this. My dad is abusive and my mother is a crack addict. It really speaks to me. My brother last year commited suicide and my sister died of an overdose...This video shows me that nothing is impossible to overcome. I will strive to emulate the character this man speaks of.
let me give you some general advise, if i may: in life, it is not so much about success then it is about happiness and love. using your time wisely and staying away from trouble and bullshit, drugs, are basics. surround yourself with ppl u really feel good with, u can trust, who really care about you and ask how u feelin, where you can really be yourself and are appreciated with all your emotions, thoughts, doubts etc. whatever work you do, aim for fun and meaning, it must feel right. to be really able to be self-reliant - as far as you are not yet - become familiar with meditation, conscious breathing, and "beeing in your body" so you can stay centered in your self in any situation. also to work through some of the pain. i can recommend eckhart tolle and wayne dyer for some other input. also, go for sports. as strange as it sounds - and forgive me if it sounds to strange to you: you've got a perfect foundation to be a very real person, grow with it, and let your light shine! feel free to contact me. I'm feeling you, much love!
As a 64 year-old woman, looking back over my life, I can say Jordan is 100% right on all points. I would add that having a plan doesn't mean you can't change your plan, but before changing that plan, it's important to ask yourself whether you want/need to change the plan because it's not working, or you haven't overcome procrastination (laziness, depression, etc) to make it work. Whatever the reason, you can adjust or break down your goals into smaller steps, but once you meet them, you should think about setting yourself a bigger goal pretty soon afterward. It's very important in life to learn how to do things you don't feel like doing, or are afraid to do, but as Peterson says, you also need to balance those things out with rewards. Think of it as resistance training for your heart, soul and mind. If you think your life is chaotic at the moment, and you don't have good habits, the easiest one to start with -- if you're not already doing it -- is to make your bed every morning. Do that, and your reward will come every evening when you walk into a bedroom that's clean and restful looking, and really helps set you up for a good night's sleep, which is the foundation upon which to build good health. Peace and blessings to all on your journeys! 🥰
@@MorningMindfulness to name some, firstly he is pretty openly anti-trans (saying that, to him, a trans-woman is not a woman etc.), against gay marriage and adoption by a gay couple (backed by false empirical evidence to my knowledge). Also, he states that women's liberation has "destabelized society" and that it is bad that they suddenly have sexual freedom, because only "alpha men" can now get girlfriends etc. I will link a video here that I found recently. Hasan's personality might be a strong contrast to "intellectuals" like JP, but he does nice work here imo, looking at many of JPs most famous clips and decoding the pseudo-intellectual stuff into quite clear traits of JPs world view ruclips.net/video/E66iseq4iO8/видео.html
My only issue is insomnia, and being able to sleep only during the day, Everytime I set a time to sleep in the evening and I force myself to do it. I just get depressed for weeks and I am only be able to stick to the schedule (sleep at night) for one time or two.
@@harounben342 Change the routine. Having a routine does not mean doing the same the thing as "everyone else" it means doing the the same thing, repeatedly, for yourself. You also might consider what is causing this "insomnia". Why don't you set a 10pm-6am sleep schedule and exercise and do more than you have ever done before during your waking hours. You'll be out like a light when your head hits the pillow.

@@cristinabusacca6398 pretty sure i see deeper than you ever could. what does the hunt for perfection and bettering yourself do to you when everything is very likely to be pointless anyway? why shouldn't we just enjoy life to the fullest? i really don't need the constant pressure of wanting to improve everything about myself to be satisfied in life. I think responsibility is important, but a constant hunt for more and more is very stressful and not for everyone.
@@franz009franz Why should you enjoy life to the fullest when everything is very likely to be pointless anyway? Generally people who don't improve themselves tend to blame others around them or the system for their failures. Your responsibility to better yourself is logical. If you don't learn and improve you will keep repeating the same mistakes in your life.
Yes, this would be good in High School, this would be better in Junior High, this would be best at home but unfortunately some do not teach their children the basic fundamentals of life. Or some times you may need a little reminder from JP lol.
I just finished high school. This year we would had a new subject call " project of life", but how could we projecting our life just on an year? For sure, this type of thing should be teach right in the beginning of middle school, or so. Otherwise, the next generation will just end up like mine: Lost I'm English learning, if I wrote something wrong, please correct me
I'm 23 and just moved to London on my own to persue my love for music. Before I left I had a conversation with my parents who couldn't understand why I wanted to leave home and not come back. The only way I could describe what I was feeling was "there's a difference between being comfortable and being happy" This mans videos are a reminder that actually, I'm not insane and in fact I am thinking more clearly than I ever have in my life. To those reading this, if you made it this far, I wish nothing for you but success happiness and health. In a year I will be back to see how far I've come, I look forward to the future. My future

A personal note: My experience growing up as being my own man and no one to look up I've made it through this far by listening to great speakers and teachers such as Jordan Paterson. Grew up fatherless and supported by a hard working mum with 4 siblings. I had to leave my home at age 17 (I am 53 now) and never went back. I visited sure, but in my mind I had to continue the journey set for me. Everything that life throws at you even when you think things could not get any worse, anything you may think, it happened to me. Broke my back at age 20. Fired from the job and went back to school. Jobless at age 32 supporting 5 kids of mine, lost the house twice in 2001 and 2002. Lived in the street, cancer (Leukemia) at age 37. Almost died in the ECU from transplant rejection. It goes on and on. You don't get this far by going alone as there were so many people I have to thank for even for that glass of water or the small meal. I take all this advice as GOLD and the only thing I regret the most is not having heard any of these when I was younger. So if you are just starting your adult life or thinking about leaving the nest, I can just tell you be a good person and respect everyone and thank everyone who extend a helping hand. Believe me you will not be alone. When you achieve something be grateful to those who supported you and even those who doubted your ways, because there's a little bit of stubbornness in everyone who make it to the finish line in the small and the bigger things in life. Good luck to everyone in this great and wonderful thing we call life so many of us are still trying to understand what the real meaning of it is. I am sure at the end, your persistence will pay off with joy of living a life full of experiences and zero regrets.

I’m sitting here as a 32 year old single mother crying. This really hit me hard. I allow myself to hide behind my anxiety and depression as a reason to just live day by day for my child not getting anything done for myself and then cry because I’m so stressed because I’m not where I know I could and should be. I wish I would have known about you when I was in high school. I call myself a failure everyday terrified my child is going to think just getting by is how life is when it’s so much more. I want to change. I want to grow. I want to be better. This is the time I need to get off my tuff and stare my biggest fear in the face. Which is failing even when I tried my hardest because that’s how I feel about myself. It’s time I stop. You are an inspiration and I hope in a year I can come back to this comment and post how far I’ve come. My heart is hurting so bad right now I’m shaking. I’m ready to move forward and get out of these shackles.
I think you are already moving now and doing your best cause sure raising a child is not something easy it's a responsibility and a nobel one , good luck You are doing your best and surely you will end happier and more satisfied about your life.
Being a mother is the most important job in the world. Embrace it and enjoy every moment spent with your child .... who brings joy to your life every day. There is nothing more beautiful than a mother looking after her child. It is a very special vocation, one to be proud of. The years fly by so quickly and your child will be all grown up, cherish this precious time together, everything you do now will be rewarded. You will be best friends for ever .... so much to look forward to. Take care x
My school teachers always used to say: You're fine the way you are Jordan Peterson just said: You're not everything you could be and you know it. I know which one would have helped me more in school.
Teachers dont realize how IMPORTANT there job is. They strike for higher paying rate Rather than Fulfilling there Duty as Teachers for the Generations to come. Imagine having teachers with this type of Mind and wisdom of Peterson. A different outcome would occur. Well taught and trained Students would've done the striking for them if you ask me. Our perspective on Life would be different Having teachers like peterson.
@@youngfly6409 I disagree, becoming a teacher requires years of college/training and those teachers know that they won't get paid much. Most teachers are teachers because they want to teach and have a lasting impact on people's lives.
I don’t think it’s wise to generalize all teachers in one lump sum. I had some incredible teachers in school and some not so great ones. No matter their skills, they all did their best. Also, if everyone on here thinks that teachers are so terrible... become one yourself and be a good one. I bet you’ll find it harder to do than it is to say in a comment. Become the person you wish everyone else was and only worry about yourself. Stop looking around and look inside.

Never stop fighting and never stop moving. Always protect your mind and your heart. Sometimes we have to make very drastic changes about the people we look up to. Try new things, practice walking new roads, take the train to somewhere you never been before even if its just minutes away. Don't be afraid of anything but be careful always, write down what you did every day and highlight those that you enjoyed or you were able to smile about. In time you will understand why you had to get over all these issues but until then, you have a lot to do and live. Only the person who's done the road can tell you where the road leads but you have to do your own steps to follow or even create new roads. There is some joy in both cases.
I'm almost the age of 40 and a father of two. Been listening to Dr Peterson a lot lately. What he says really hits home and his advice is making me a better person. Wish he was around during my younger years. I just hope these kids realize how fortunate they are to have this guidance.
Just out of curiosity , if you were to hear this sort of teaching 20 years ago , what makes you believe that you were ready to pay any attention to it at all ? My personal experience is that many things that I find interesting or quite fascinating today , were of no interest at all just a few years ago. They were around and accessible , just never really " clicked" until recently. What do you think that makes Peterson different from all the other motivational speakers ? Is it just a subjective experience ?

I understand why people hate him so much. He is trying to move people away from being a slave to fear. But fear is their biggest and most powerful tool for influencing peoples behavior. What if we lived in a world where people knew that (most) fear is a lie?
uhm not so much that as the caustic attitude. its my first time watching him and the delivery isnt my cup of tea, the content is that same stuff all motivational speakers say... and smh, what does "a tremendously large minority of cases mean" you can literally see him take pause with his own diction. 13:28
@@ZainThisIs >the delivery isnt my cup of tea I don't know why, maybe it's my father-in-law, but I have developed the ability to listen to what a person says rather than *how* they say it.. After all it is the meaning and of the substance of the matter that is carried in the "what" of the message, not the "how". Personally, I like his attitude. He radiates strength, calmness, a surety of purpose and a strength of character and courage that I find inspiring. It's like he's grabbing you by the scruff of the neck and saying "YOU CAN DO BETTER!!". And I think we all need that from time to time. If you see that as having a "caustic attitude" then that's fine. You be you. That approach to life seems to be working just fine for you. You don't like that? You don't resonate with what he's saying? That's okay! Move on. Try to find some other way to work through the issues that you are currently facing. Maybe this approach is too masculine, too strong, too direct, too true, too raw for you at this point in your life. And that's okay! We can't be all things to all people. >same stuff all motivational speakers say Yes and no? He is very much the thinking man's motivational speaker. A lot of what he talks about is usually covered in college level psych classes. If you didn't take those than you probably have no idea what he's talking about. I don't hear many online motivational speakers referencing Solzhenitsyn, Carl Rogers and Nietzsche. Usually they're just screaming at the top of the lungs saying something like "I can I will I must". If that resonates with you then that's fantastic. If that helps you and that is awesome! This guy resonates with me and THIS guy helps me and helps me to see how I can be better. Be well.
1. Have a schedule and keep track of your productivity. Try to improve every week, don'8t have to be perfect right from the beginning. 2. Take action. Be what i could be now rather than regretting later on. 3. Be my own boss, not an obeydient employee. Fight the voice inside, dont let it control me.
I can't imagine Jordan would approve of repressing part of yourself. How about you listen to the voice and see if it can teach you what it needs to leave you alone?
Was listening to this as I held my sleeping one year old daughter in my arms and couldn’t help but to tear up. I tear up not because I am afraid to fail, I tear up because I felt it was inevitable. It’s who I’ve been this whole time and I didn’t care but I know I cannot continue this way now and it worries me beyond anything else. I am my own worst enemy but I am my own best friend as well. I’m living in a hell I have created for myself. Jordan made me realize pain that I needed to feel because it was necessary pain and I hope I make good use of it not for me, but for the people I love.
Watching inspirational speakers motivate me to want to become a college professor. I want them to know my story. I believe, I have came a long way from the beginning of my high school years. I was lost for along time.
This is the fatherly advice I needed. I’m only 15 but I’m so conscious of my future. I don’t have a dad and my mum is abusive, an alcoholic and manipulative. I pretty much look after my 3 younger siblings by myself and although I love my siblings I really hope one day I will be able to have a good job and be financially able to help my siblings out. I’m working 2 jobs at the moment so I can try and save up the money to better my education and start a good career.
Eibhlín Murphy kinda same situation here bro. I m 24, and personally i feel so sorry for you, especially because i truly know how it feels. But remember this : YOU are a hero. The thing with us, people who dont have the chance to get a stable and a relevant family, a good childhood, and all the stuff like that, is that we are way above the rest who are not facing this difficulties and we re always ready for a challenge. The catch is to not let go. Its not worth to do that. Make that pain pay and used it in a constructive way. At your age with this kind of responsability and situation you could ve been a convict or simply a wreck. But still, you re responsabil and thinking constructive about your future, a thing which i never did at your age and i very much respect that. Keep it up, stat strong, and i really wish that you ll overcome this and some point and succeed. And thats because you deserve it.
Best of luck on your journey bro. I had a mentor who lost both his parents at 14. He promised to take care of his sister and make a life for himself. He has multiple degrees in the business field and opened an insurance firm in Cali. He's showing his sister how to do the same. Sounds like your heart is in the right place and, with that, I'm sure you will do great things.
He is smart many people are smart but what makes him so special is he's really eloquent and the way he speaks is not from position of scholar or professor, he really cares about people he lectures to as a father or a friend, he really conveys feelings that makes you perceive that it would really make him happy and content if people took his kind educated words to their hearts so they can live a better life. He is awesome person.
Try out mindfulness exercises. There’s plenty of good apps to help you get started. I was such a skeptic until I finally caved and tried it myself and by god was it worth it. We are CONSTANTLY over stimulating ourselves with work, school, video games, watching TV, social media and so on from the moment you wake up until the moment you go to bed. That’s why you’re the most ”woke” when you’re just laying in bed trying to sleep, you finally give yourself time to think and reflect. So take at least five minutes sometime during your day to do just that, you’ll want to take on responsibilities and I’m sure you’ll have an easier time going to sleep.
Tried a schedule too, failed miserably, like it or not, I´m in a very strong jack of all trades phase, started to block content on the internet to help with a possible Schedule attempt, but no way in hell I´m trying one without finishing my list of blocked channels.
@@sebas8225 I realised I don't really need a schedule, I prefer when every day is something new, otherwise it all seems repetitive. Instead, I do what I want. I have school so I usually wake up at the same time and I have gym class so I also exercise every day. But other than that, I do whatever I want in my personal time. Things are more fun when I do them impulsively. I am randomly having a slumber party today, planned it in the afternoon. I impulsively booked an italian lessona and now I'm excited about that. Routines are not everything. Stability is boring. Live your life like an adventure.
@@mehakverma7043 I think what you're missing is that you do currently have a schedule. You're a student things are segmented out for you. You have a schedule made for you. You might be making some impulsive decisions on what to do in your freetime, but what happens when you're no longer a student and no longer have that gym class you have to attend? You likely won't continue to exercise.
This guy is seriously a gift to mankind. I feel like he's speaking directly to me. Everything he says is spot on, and it helps me to realize why I do what I do and how to fix it.
I have been utilizing Dr. Peterson's lectures to clean my life up. My hardest battle had been with Meth. On the road to recovery and I'm now an operations manager and drive a company car. There was a point in my life where everything meant nothing, I lost or killed all meaning within myself. The terror of coming to terms with where I brought myself sunk me lower than I'd ever gone. I just wanted to go "home". But it no longer existed. I agreed to take on a minimum wage role and sink myself into a routine, the routine kept the dream alive of " home" whatever that would look like but I wanted out so bad! Today I have a home, the home I built with the family that I built. My minimum wage routine took me so far that I'm now the boss and never pay for gas or a vehicle. My cup runneth over.
Thank god I’m hearing this advice at 18. Listening to Jordan has motivated me to be my true self and strive for my desired potential. I hope I can look back on these videos when I'm older, successful, and happy!
One thing he mentions in the video is an advice I'd like to strengthen: think about how you treat yourself. How did you treat the last person you went on a date with and was very interested in? Probably very good. You probably even went ouf of your way to make them pleased and perhaps even skipped something on your schedule to make room for them. Why not do the same for yourself? Treat yourself to a better life. If you can't treat the current you, treat the future you. Don't let the present you, let the future you down.

This man speaks to the multitude of millions of men have never been told. At least, never told by a man with such elegance and class. He is truly a brilliant man, scholar and author, of a generation starving for direction and meaning for life.

Just know it's better if all progress is psychological for a while. When I was your age I went around poking everything I found half interesting and you have no idea how much that is helping me now. @@Ditu1995 he means that poor people without the possibility to go to school and get a job and food on the table would trade places with you. Something like that
@@Ditu1995 The OG comment is a good way to think about your life but always aim for something you don't have currently even if you know you won't get it, at least it gives purpose to why you wake up every day. Let's say you knew you were gonna be immortal and you cannot die, what stops you from ever waking up from your bed and doing anything? You are immortal, why should you wake up, why should you go to work when you know you don't have to work. Always have something on your mind but never be ungrateful for what you already have. Even if you are poor and only make ends meet barely every day, you still have more than those who die starving or those who don't have a roof above their head. Be grateful but never stop achieving more.
I've been stuck in counter productive persistence for the last 3 or so years. I've never heard it explained that way. It's impossible to explain in text, even in words, but recent life experiences have opened my mind to seeing this reality. I appreciate Jordan for underscoring and bolding these words for me
The people complaining about their parents not teaching them these things. You guys need to understand it’s very rare for a parent to teach you like a clinical psychologist/college professor/great public speaker. Also, even if they did it’s likely you won’t listen to them as attentively as you do to Jordan Peterson, you WANT to watch him, most teenagers don’t want to sit down with their parents for a 2 hour lecture on life. Most parents aren’t educated enough to articulate these life lessons to their children. Hell, I’m college educated and can’t even do it but we have systems in place to teach you responsibility, we tell you to clean your room, do your laundry, organize your mess, clean up after yourself and we push this on you to build structure in YOUR life so when you get older you understand the nuances. But when you don’t want to clean your room or have structure forcing you to do it is almost as bad, for the relationship and because you’ll associate responsibility with a negative emotion. Instead of wishing for better parents, try listening to them, be grateful of what you have and work with them. You’ll turn out to be a fine adult.
Funny you say that because I was just thinking, "How in the hell do I articulate this to my 10 year old... especially when she is a little older and needs to hear this..."
All this talk of not being taught is wrong, I am always being taught, if I see something that works I emulate that. If I see something that is wrong or unsuccessful then I don't copy that or look at it and see how it could be done better. That is how everyone is a role model it is just how you see it and how you use it to better yourself.
I absolutely agree with your points (except not forcing the child do clean his room, etc). But I think that most children would have liked their parents to "warn them of what's to come when they come into adult life" and also get them ready. It is one thing to teach them good habits (very good) and structure but I think what they mean is that they feel like they went into the "war" without a "battle plan" and that it was their parent's job to make them understand what adult life is and get them ready. Also, I think if you talk to children (even teens) in a mature and authoritative way, they would be very eager to listen, as in my opinion they enjoy authority (to a certain degree) and are in need of it. I've seen this countless times with children of relatives, (all types of ages) who don't listen at all because the parents lack firmness and allow them to do anything, when in fact the child is just wanting his parents to set limits. And when they do get boundaries they might act upset but you can feel they're happy that they got put in their place. I believe you can be VERY kind and VERY loving while still being the "boss" and not getting trampled over. It makes you the parent look much less weak and like much more of an example of a strong figure. There are many other factors but it would be to long to name them all. Anyways just wanted to give the perspective of perhaps some of those people complaining, according TO ME (my opinion).

I needed to hear this today. I have pretty much everything Peterson has mentioned to live a meaningful life but sometimes you need to hear it. Sometimes you need a tune up. Thank you Sir.
"You are a bad employer and a worse employee. You dont know what you wanna do and then when you tell yourself what to do you dont do it anyway. You should fire yourself." lmao
Evan Haruyama The answer is not to end your life when it gets too complex; I believe it is to reach the realization that everyone has the capacity to make not just their own life better, but the people around them as well. There’s beauty in that, and it’s something everyone should strive for. Paraphrasing what Jordan Peterson said: if you can’t solve the little problems, how can you expect bigger problems to get better? And so we start on an individual level, by whatever means possible, to confront whatever issues we may face, and put a reasonable amount of effort to solving them. I hope this comment helps in any way. I’ve known people who committed suicide, and more who attempted it. It does no good for the people around them, and it’s a tragedy that occurs every day. Once again, I hope that isn’t the case with you.
Make a good choice everytime ask your parents permission always and study, read books, exercise regularly, eat a healthy food always. Dont tell to yourself you cant do it and pray everyday. Goodluck
Associate yourself with people that are doing more than you, that drive you to think, believe and learn. If you ever tell yourself you are the smartest or hardest worker you know, you need to get new people around you.
Smart! Here are some words of advice I can give to you: look up Slavoj Zizek versus Jordan Peterson. Jordan Peterson is a smart man but also preaches a very defeatist philosophy. His advice in this video is a reaction to the world around him and how to cope with it. But you are young and smart, you don't need to cope with the world yet so please stay optimistic and empathetic to those around you.
@@wayne6931 that's really good. You'll be set by the time you're in you're late 20s if you do it right and hopefully you can find what brings you the most joy and how to bring that to others as well.
Tbh I needed some motivational guidance for any life lesson cuz I'm not having a good one at the moment I recent been depressed bc I basically or seeming got rejected with a girl who we're happy til her depression kicks in and wanted to just be friends we use to text almost everyday cuz she feels that no one care for her and I usually always be there for her tried to help but now she wanna be just friends and I agree in order for her to feel better even tho I didn't really want that I think it was for the best only temporary I thought we use to text but now she take it as annoyance with me and I feel stupid and now I feel that i am in limbo with many thoughts Now I listen to music to keep my head cool and live day by day

The reason Peterson is considered to be so “polarizing” is because there are two completely opposite groups listening to him: those with the potential to grow up, and those who did grow up and are now reflecting on the importance of having had a positive influence like him who helped them achieve that goal. This man should be listened to, understood and cherished. He’s a brilliant mind with good intent, and an invaluable model.
A third group, if these people even listen, is people who have potential but just simply don't care because its easier to blame it on someone else rather than take responsibility.
I disagree honestly. you have people who have a preconceived notion of him. Ask yourself can you think of a person even a lazy or terrible person who listens to this and thinks "ehh no he's wrong cause of x y and z" No they come here they dislike they leave without listening. Or they listen and they hear truth and it hurts and they as JBP said avoid the truth because it hurts it's damn hard to confront. I honestly believe if people listen to this all the way through they know it to be true. I mean even with how much people HATE this man because of his preconceived reputation look at that like to dislike ratio. Look at his most controversial videos. People focus more on being right vs learning. I am guilty of this sometimes myself.
I wish I could have had him as a professor when I was 18. Here I am at 36 wondering what the hell happened to the last 18 years and I haven't done much with my life.
We all can say that (coulda shoulda woulda). What matters is you have the message now and it's never too late to make things better for yourself, and so for others around you.
I've been through depression a large amount of my life, and recently I've finally gotten out of it. I've had a stable job for a while now, and I've mustered up the courage to pursue my degree in engineering. This man has been a big part in getting my life in order.
Congratulations. I am currently studying computer engineering, and no matter the type of engineering you want to pursue, you are in the right place. Hope all stays well. Godspeed
You see a lot of depressed people out there. Then you look at their diet. Burger, fries and a 12 pack of coke. You look at their friends. Other depressed people. Then you tell them, how could you not be depressed?

I love this man. The father most of us needed to have. Thank you for everything, for all the moments you worked hard and the hours and effort you put in. Now I tear up😭
Literally my same thoughts and personal experience growing up as being my own man and no one to look up I've made it through this far by listening to great speakers and teachers such as Jordan Paterson. Grew up fatherless and supported by a hard working mum I had to leave my home at age 17 (I am 53 now) and never went back. I visited sure, but in my mind I had to continue the journey set for me. Everything that life throws at you even when you think things could not get any worse, anything you may think, it happened to me. Jobless at age 32 supporting 5 kids of mine, lost the house twice, lived in the street, cancer at age 37.
@@2XXEquiz I cannot believe what you have been through! Man.. I needed this guy... I’m working on my mental health, trying to stop pot &’ become a better person. Pot is not for everyone. I wasted so many years, friends, relationships over rather being high. So much time wasted being high instead of enjoying my life because I was lonely. Man I wish I could’ve met this guy long time ago.
I was a massive stoner for 7 years... dropped it all one day. I hate it now. I left the lifestyle and addiction behind. As you said, relationships and experiences were missed due to it. It has been 10+ years since I've given up, I am still trying to repair the damage and learn how to build and maintain relationships, etc. And I see my family and friends that still smoke, it is as if they are frozen in time, in the slow lane, content, but zero growth. Change your routines, change your friends if you need to. Good luck
Do not try to stop it - simply quit it. I did it after 20 years. You may encounter troubles. Just breathe and go on. And leave that stuff behind you. It is definitely more then worth it! :) All the best!!! :)
NEVER, EVER, GIVE UP! I know it’s been 6 months since you commented but I had to say this to you. You have much, much more strength than you think. Dig for it! It’s there, you are here! Fiercely destroy the dark place with good energy. Get up and walk wherever the green trees grow tomorrow. Get out and get alive! God bless you my friend.
Keep going. I’m here and my husband is here with me dealing with this life but most of all the only thing that stopped me hearing the words God had written. Then I look up and I see it. The only one who does it for my is God my husband and then me. In that order. Everything else is moot until the next time being down. I keep going though. It is positive to reflect and see it in present day. I’m grateful.
duolis the brobot I was also sad at the fact that I didn’t start taking control of my life sooner. Know that it is never too late to start; don’t be angry or depressed that you could have started years ago, that’s subconscious excuse to not start NOW.
The goal is not not to waste time, but to be in a state where you life fully to your Potential. That doesn't mean to be a the top, who knows how far You can go but to Using all your momentum to skyrocket to the top, it doesn't matter If you reach it or die before that, because you where that person who is able to accomplish your Goals. So it doesn't Matter when You start. THIS makes You awesome and full of joy in Life! And eventually success follows! Success is Just a byprosuct of this State. So don't think how much You have wasted but focus on how You can Life Up to your Potential, that is the only thing that matters
@D K i don't really care about his political opinion. i don't agree with him on everything he preaches, but when it comes to managing your time and mental health, he definitely makes a lot of sense and I'm grateful for that. the man represents himself well and he's very motivating, so i take what i think is useful to me and leave. i dont have to agree with him on everything :)
Not only does Jordan motivates people and makes them think about their own route to success, he makes people write their own stories on his RUclips videos to hopefully make them feel better and reflect on themselves. A super human being.
First of May 2019 1a.m Thank you Dr. Jordan B. Peterson for saving me during my darkest hours and open my eyes to reality. Last year has been the darkest year of my life, the most painful year of my entire life. Everything collapsed at once, my map of meanings, my perception of the world, the beliefs I have held for so long... All came crumbling down. I was hopeless, I was in despair, I was lost, the pain of existence was almost too much to bear. Every single day was a battle from the moment I woke up to the night, suddenly I found myself alone, I was scared I was terrified of life, then and only then did I realise that Family > all else. Thank you mom, thank you brother, sisters, grandparents, Ch, A and thank you cat you all are the reasons I am still alive and will continue to be. And finally thank you Dr. Peterson, for a father figure I have never had. I was not alone, there were thousands if not millions of young men out there suffering the same as me. I was not alone! Now, even though I am third year at uni I feel like I am actually only 18, there is so so so much I have not yet learned that I supposed to learn during my younger years. Once again, I thank you Dr. Jordan B. Peterson and my family for saving my poor soul. You are the father I have never had.
It's the falling out of the social conscientiousness. It used to be we had the sense of feeling to take care of each other for the betterment of society. That died in the late 20th century, and along with it passionate men who like to share their passion wanting other people to succeed. Dr. Peterson is like a small figure rising out of the vast sea of chaos. A Yang dot in the Yin, in the Yin-Yang symbol so to speak.
I'm 16 and gonna be 17 this year, suffering from anxiety and depression, these videos are the one thing that keeps me up every morning to do work. It's always been a struggle for me wake up without anxiety immediately kicking in. Its hard for me to plan a goal without feeling that it's pointless to even do them. Everyday I had to fight these thoughts. No one will ever understand how much i am dealing in a day. People will tell me how negligent I am when they don't even know every day-everyday its a constant battle between myself and how I need to remind myself to live this life. Thank you for this video. It really helps me alot and I learned so much. For the people who are having a hard time in their lives, we will make it. You have to believe because thats the only way to live.
it's only going to get harder once you turn 18 and have to work to live. find a job that you love, if you can do that than everything gets alot easier. good luck and hang in there.
Wow when he said "Watching RUclips videos which you don't even care about and then feeling horrible after you did" that really hit hard. It was really a good decision to watch this video.
I'm 33 and I feel this makes me realize that the only goal I have left is to find a girlfriend and make a family. I used to feel that I was not ready to pursue this but lately I feel it has changed. Wish me luck!
국민 you can use it as a painkiller but also you can use it as a cure , it’s a knowledge and useful information , what do with it is entirely up to you , so choose wisely.
I'm in awe of the depth of Dr. Peterson's analytical processes but also of his unrivalled ability to explain things in fairly simple language that almost anybody can understand. He's not only an intellectual giant but he also has sensitivity, empathy and compassion to match. At this point he's more philosopher and poet than psychologist and media personality. We are truly blessed to be alive at a time when we can see and hear Jordan Peterson in the flesh.
Yesterday I heard that my 21 years old son ( living by himself) has a long time been watching mr. Petersons lectures in youtube. That was a relief to hear. Mr. Peterson is a godsend. And I am an atheist.
Glad you said that and with all due respect to the sir above if you read books about religion, faith and those tools to reach for a arquetypic life ( the maximum symbolism of better/good) you will see you don't need a specific religion to be good with yourself and be surrounded by the best the people you can meet and share a life with. faith/hope. As Mr Petersons says in his book 1"0 rules for life" is an interesting tool of human beings. The faith you use to set your goals, for example, it's a positive emotion of our (humans) nature and so the all god thing that worships the best moral things in life can culminate inside you don't have to be aside of a specific god/religion or dogma. I was raised as a catholic but always with the need for answers to certain questions. The simplest way about how I feel towards this specific religion, why they say that behaviour is wrong and this" one is right. So I start to read the basics of it, how certain religions born and what sustains them etc etc. Mr Peterson was educated as a catholic if I read right on the book I'm reading, and nowadays give us his knowledge about simple questions of the mind aiming for answers developed in millennials of societies about life in this planet. And that's it, find the answers by yourself first and build a set of morals within compared to the ones that already existed. Distinguish whats morally wrong and right with other examples of life and y will find answers always. All this to wish your son the best things in life and enhance his way through Mr.Peterson's, his totally worth it on my perspective and some others! Much love from Portugal!
it slows down the mind to take in what he is actually saying. our brains operate in a strange ways, its good to have something running in the background... just sayin its really helpful for some of us.

I've been telling myself that I'm going to change. I'm going to be 22 in two weeks. I've absolutely wasted the last few years of my life. I fell into that trap of social media, being "popular" and "cool". Never focused in school, never built a routine and set goals. My mental health is weak, I'm lazy, and I look at myself as a genuine failure given the opportunities I've had and the life I was born into. Life dealt me a pretty good hand and I wasted it thus far. I'm going to change. Tomorrow is the first day of a new life. I want to unlock my potential because I have what it takes to be great and I want to feel proud of myself for once in my life. A new journey begins tomorrow for me, and I am not going to let myself lose this battle. Believe in yourself, bet on yourself, and go prove yourself right.
How are you doing? Don't worry, I was 23 when I got it. The first step was knowing I had to change. From there, small steps. A few hiccups along the way. Just got right back on that path moving forward until I didn't veer off again. I did great and now I am 56.
@@myblondeshtshow6913 trying man, I know I could be trying harder though. I'm having my hiccups, I'll go a few days being on top of it and then fall back in. It's so tough. But I'm taking small steps and I WONT QUIT. I've been going to the gym consistently so that's good. I still need to focus on the other areas better though. How were you able to finally break through the hiccups? And do you have any words to keep me pushing? I'm 22 and I feel like I've wasted so much time already and missed so many opportunities in my youth. I don't want to miss anymore. I want to enjoy life. Not look back in 30 years and regret it all. I don't wanna cry no more, I don't wanna feel this way anymore. Keeping my chin to the clouds and continuing to push but it's hard.

I’m 20 years old, shy and with social anxiety since as long as I can remember. It is at a point that even writing a comment makes me afraid. It has caused me so much pain during my whole life that now it feels like I’m trapped into it. But I’m really trying to get away from this and I don’t wanna let all my efforts down. I realize I messed up so many times and the only person I can blame for this is myself. For now, I’m trying so much to change, to be the best I can be, even if it's hard, and the many dreams in my head keep me through it.
There is one thing you need to understand to overcome social shyness. Communication is a skill. All skill can be learned. To learn you need practice. To practice you need tools, environment and people. Your objective is to find people to speak with. Try online at first if you are not sure on your skills. The easiest way to speak with people is to speak with them about what they are passionate about. You can find people who love fantasy/sci fi/videogames,, try to ask them what personage do they like, answer them when they ask you questions. Answer fully and not with 1 or 2 words, this is taken as a mark of "I don't want to speak to you". I had your problem when I was 15, I spent many years trying to overcome it, and I did. At 20 I was sure enough of myself to create a group of 5 people with who we were learning in university. And this helped me to improve my communication skills even further. Just do it, do not hesitate, If I did it, You also can. Have a nice day ) [Ps: and yeah watch videos about communication, different advices, even vendors techneeks. Later you can learn what conflitology is. Then you'll find the thing that made you so shy, maby a memory ? You'll analise it and it will help you to understand what you need to do to prove that it Can change and Will change, because You Want it to change
what worked for me: stretching, singing, extremely sweaty exercise, very long walks, adhd videos on resetting and becoming physically present through actual body movements all helped tremendously
I used his tip about scheduling and my productivity is skyrocketing Also another tip to make yourself less lazy is to clean your room every saturday morning. You'll feel productive.
If nobody treated you like you mattered as a child it is hard to have goals and to figure out what you want to be. A “nothing” doesn’t deserve goals. The struggle is real.
I grew up in a cult that basically treated all the children like they were inherently possessed by the devil..(extreme I know) and idk why I resonate with this comment so much. I struggle a lot with trying to figure out what I even want for myself.. because I was never taught how. I’m not in that cult now thankfully. Many of the adult members are very robotic and lifeless.
TBD the truth is that you deserve the world and all that is good. We all need you to be who you really are. If you tap into all of your power you will fulfill your part in this great miracle of the Universe. Getting to the real you and honoring it is your main goal and responsibility. You are worth every second of time and ounce of love. Bless you sweetie 🙏🏻❤️

Problem solving life like a challange & learning how to keep your common sense in Controversy. Taking a path less traveled thinking outside the box. Taking chances by doing things you were too fearful to do before, but believe your good at or may have something to learn from. Being more honest yet kind with people helps avoid many things.

Dude...thinking of you myman....
let me give you some general advise, if i may: in life, it is not so much about success then it is about happiness and love.
using your time wisely and staying away from trouble and bullshit, drugs, are basics.
surround yourself with ppl u really feel good with, u can trust, who really care about you and ask how u feelin, where you can really be yourself and are appreciated with all your emotions, thoughts, doubts etc.
whatever work you do, aim for fun and meaning, it must feel right.
to be really able to be self-reliant - as far as you are not yet - become familiar with meditation, conscious breathing, and "beeing in your body" so you can stay centered in your self in any situation. also to work through some of the pain.
i can recommend eckhart tolle and wayne dyer for some other input.
also, go for sports.
as strange as it sounds - and forgive me if it sounds to strange to you: you've got a perfect foundation to be a very real person, grow with it, and let your light shine!
feel free to contact me.
I'm feeling you, much love!
Sending you love and support
If you work hard enough you can do it, lets get it my dudes.
Thanks ❤
Thank you for your wisdom! I've only recently tried making my bed every morning with the intent to improve my life overtime!
Hope you have a good day. Thank you

I don't know why, maybe it's my father-in-law, but I have developed the ability to listen to what a person says rather than *how* they say it..
We can't be all things to all people.
>same stuff all motivational speakers say
Yes and no?
He is very much the thinking man's motivational speaker.
A lot of what he talks about is usually covered in college level psych classes. If you didn't take those than you probably have no idea what he's talking about.
I don't hear many online motivational speakers referencing Solzhenitsyn, Carl Rogers and Nietzsche. Usually they're just screaming at the top of the lungs saying something like "I can I will I must". If that resonates with you then that's fantastic. If that helps you and that is awesome!

@@vigilanterorschach2600 well said brother
Critically Thought you are sooo right 👏

Accounting is dangerous. Make sure you really like it before committing yourself to it. Make sure you understand what it means to be an auditor or tax preparer. Make sure you research what it’s like to work at an accounting firm out of college. It’s a great career but not for everyone, and so many people get burnt out.

The answer is not to end your life when it gets too complex; I believe it is to reach the realization that everyone has the capacity to make not just their own life better, but the people around them as well.
I'm 11 years old and I want to learn everything when I was young so I will not regret anything in the future
You cant, you will never stop learning, even by the age of 90 you learn.
Just avoid bad company, liars and never tolerate disrespect. When someone treats you unfairly, speak up for your self

Very nice comment 🙂

Good luck

Thank you Dr.
How are you now bucko?

It's the falling out of the social conscientiousness. It used to be we had the sense of feeling to take care of each other for the betterment of society.

You need to find the true God. I pray for you
Glad you said that and with all due respect to the sir above if you read books about religion, faith and those tools to reach for a arquetypic life ( the maximum symbolism of better/good) you will see you don't need a specific religion to be good with yourself and be surrounded by the best the people you can meet and share a life with.

Build your career, body and mindset in your 20s. The money will follow. Start by believing in yourself. A good way to start is by promising yourself to do things and then doing them.
Peterson eloquently expresses 27 simple yet life-changing concepts in the time it takes me to start chewing on one of them.
Man, I really could have used this when I was younger,(46) still, Dr. Peterson's lectures hit me like a surprise wrecking ball. I am so grateful that I got to see Intellectuals of this caliber in my lifetime. Please, if you're between 18 and 50, give this man an opportunity to speak to you and ACT! It will save you a lot of pain and suffering.
Any age.
Even if you're ten, really. Im 14 and i think trying to keep an orderly life early on will only benefit me as i get older.
"Set the damn schedule up so that you can have the day you want!" brilliant xD
Wait, you think setting up a schedule so that you have a good day is brilliant? I think you need to raise your bar.
@@evanharuyama3111 ok, thank you so much, I don't know what I would do without you.
If you set up schedule, you will concentrate on it instead of thinking about useless things
Evan Haruyama damn so insecure bro
@@benjaminsibson8760No, mostly just sick of people thinking Peterson is some sort of intellectual guru. Nice try mate.
Im 27 and I'm glad I found Jordan Peterson's content life saver.

Dream big and don't give up!! :D
It's all in your head bro, stop worrying, start living, good luck.
Have a nice day )
[Ps: and yeah watch videos about communication, different advices, even vendors techneeks. Later you can learn what conflitology is. Then you'll find the thing that made you so shy, maby a memory ? You'll analise it and it will help you to understand what you need to do to prove that it Can change and Will change, because You Want it to change
Ask your doctor for cognitive behavioural therapy
what worked for me: stretching, singing, extremely sweaty exercise, very long walks, adhd videos on resetting and becoming physically present through actual body movements all helped tremendously
I used his tip about scheduling and my productivity is skyrocketing
Also another tip to make yourself less lazy is to clean your room every saturday morning. You'll feel productive.

ALPHA DOG MOTIVATION stop self promoting u fkin idiot
If nobody treated you like you mattered as a child it is hard to have goals and to figure out what you want to be. A “nothing” doesn’t deserve goals. The struggle is real.
TBD change it and treat yourself like you matter yourself
You are going to make the impossible possible ruclips.net/video/7M8B5zYywws/видео.html
I´ve never been so inspired by a man who called me useless and horrible.
Dammm he is! And hes the best for it!
I can tell you at 65 I agree, I have recently just gone for the impossible dreams and got a few! He's right...Wish I learned it sooner. He is my internet wiser brother!

I too . I wish I could have heard this.
wow.....that's great..!! I'm at a total loss for what I would dream...... I remember when I was younger, most nights, after the parents were passed out from drinking too much......I would lay my head on the pillow and say several times, I wish or dream to have 1 million dollars......I do it to this day...and I slowly drift off to sleep.....granted the amount of money has increased....lol....but wishing for it makes me ease my mind and I fall asleep.......even though I've never achieved that money........
@Deborra Storm: May I ask what kinds of impossible dreams? Also, best of luck!
@@farhanyousaf5616 Looking younger than My age starts inside...how one thinks besides how you live. That is one, thinking positively never hurts in the present. Problem solving life like a challange & learning how to keep your common sense in Controversy. Taking a path less traveled thinking outside the box. Taking chances by doing things you were too fearful to do before, but believe your good at or may have something to learn from. Being more honest yet kind with people helps avoid many things. It's like he says, think a bit more before you speak or act. Asking yourself some key questions, before you do. People are who we live around in this world, we must figure how best to do that, that makes the best impact with the gifts we were blessed with. To make a difference before we die & help the next generation live better.
It's never late and you are always young, Whatever be the age.
so true. age is just a number.

At first listen to many of these speeches, I won’t lie, I got miserably depressed;
“Oh how much time have I wasted?”
Then I listened again, and again, and read a few of his books...
Once you know, you have no option other than to act willfully towards your life;
This man...this man....this man...
It would be impossible to overstate my gratitude for this man 🙏
@4vsbs2 Great speech with a lot of truth (and awesome humor) in it. Thank you
