  • A trip around Melchester's Engine and Goods shed, aboard a Hornby 700 class steam locomotive. The buildings are Metcalfe card kits.
The Hornby 700 is sound fitted by 'Olivia's Trains', and the deluxe weathering was undertaken by 'TMC'.

I like the sweeping curves of the track, no dog legs. A very convincing portrayal of the last days of steam.

Thanks Kev. The Drummond 700 is one of my favorites, especially since the weathering and sound has been done.

Lovely crisp video footage Chris, nice one. The engine shed looks well with the extra "additions", really add an extra bit of realistic detail. Enjoyed that ! .... Andy

Thanks Andy. I'm using a new camera for my "train cam", which is a big improvement on the previous one I had.

It’s a beautiful layout . Quite often loco views can be quite cruel showing up flaws but not with your layout . It really looks stunning . That paved track work to the brewery siding is superb. Very atmospheric

OMG Chris, what an amazing video. The engine shed was completely convincing and the LED lights look very well indeed. Very well done on the upgrades. That 700 with lights fitted also looks amazing, one of my favorite loco classes that. Absolutely love the goods shed and siding, gives me an idea that :) Is this a Mobius camera? I am going to share this video on my Facebook group as it deserves many more views. All the best Mike

Very kind of you to offer to share the vid Mike - that's much appreciated. The camera I used was a Polaroid Cube, i've found it to be very good so far. I'm gradually giving a lot of my loco's the 700 treatment, upgrading them with sound, lights and weathering.

Hi, Nice video. Your loco sure does look the part, I liked the firebox flicker, that's great, and was that a cab light too? I found myself looking into the roof trusses trying to work out how much room you have, and did you use it all...............It seems quite a strange roof shape................Oh and is the organ music played by yourself or not, I kind of like that music and admire anyone who can play an organ.............Enjoyed the video, thanks and best regards Dave.

Thanks Dave, yes, Olivia's Trains fitted cab lights as well as the firebox flicker - they're very good at that sort of thing. Fitting the LED's was a fiddly job, but there was plenty of space to suspend them from the roof trusses. I'm playing all the music too - one of my extra hobbies!
