Toyota GR Track Day at Goodwood

- A couple of weeks ago I was invited down to Goodwood by Patrick from Rogue Motorsport, to attend a day hosted by Toyota & Snows Dealer group. It was a fantastic day and I got to drive some cool cars, namely the Top Gear GT86, but also a GR Yaris & GT86 Race Car!
Goodwood is a mega place. The atmosphere & general feel of the place even on a simple weekday trackday was like nothing else I've experienced before. The track is also loads of fun, and has an airfield in the middle with a seemingly unlimited supply of light aircraft, again like nothing I'v experienced before.

Really cool to see you getting invited to these events as the channel grows.
That plane you looked at is a Harvard, which is basically the Canadian version of the T6 Texan WW2 Trainer aircraft.
You can pay for experience flights in it at Goodwood 👍
Goodwood was the very first racetrack I visited back in the 60s for the last two Easter meetings. Lord March closed the track for racing at the end of '65 as he believed that the new for '66 3 litre F1 cars would be too fast and dangerous for the track! I would love to say that I saw Jim Clark race the Lotus 33 1.5 litre car on track but as he came out of the paddock to do the warm up lap, the cam belt slipped and ate the valves on the Climax V8!

i think toyota hands down is the best car company out at the minute they listen to their customers do cool events make cars no one else is making like whats not to love
I’ve always had a good impression of Toyotas. Great that your connection with Rogue got you into this gig. Goodwood a very high profile venue, who knows who’ll spot your talent as a driver 🤞🏻

Toyota is on a mad one at the minute. Really nice to see a renaissance of the enthusiast Toyota cars we all lusted after as kids. I reckon the GR86 with the engine of the Yaris would be a mega quick car.

*Now then Dan! Love Goodwood. Some of the best laps I ever did in my E30 M3 track car were there. Such a great flow and properly quick. Anyway, best of luck in the MR2. Thanks to your vids I've decided to do a few speed events and am about to start getting a Z3 ready. An unusual car choice but saw what BDS did with theirs. Plus it was cheap! Regards Toyota, as you say hats off to their latest selection of cars….had a test drive booked in Yaris and was too busy to follow up on it, that probably saved me spunking £34k at the time considering the glowing reviews.
That said I still lose as they’re already worth more second hand now🤦🏼♂️……
I think you can still get a Yaris new but the lead time is ridiculous due to parts shortages I assume

Just had to say it's good to see you in the zone out there. You've driven some cool cars and legendary tracks, but I'm convinced that it isn't the place or the the ride, it's the man behind the wheel. What exhaust is on that liveried up Yaris? It sounds great.
What did you think about the AWD system? Did it feel like FWD until you hit grip loss?

Toyotas of the car world are like the Hondas of the motorbike world. A bit boring but you certainly wouldn't want to be in a world without them..
