Watching that diagonal rail road crossing come together was so satisfying! I agree that seeing the process of finding a perfect solution enhances the build for me. i liked the idea of cracked pavement with greenery, have some of the greenery break through onto the top of the grey tiles if possible, but yes that last curve of track certainly threw a spanner in the works! I run trains in my city, and truly felt your pain with this! great Job!
yes I definitely plan to fine-tune the greenery a bit, extend it a bit out onto the rest of the track, I just have to make sure the train can still run without hitting it!
Making tracks fit in system is already a great fit, but wow! Playing with the 45° angles is another level of engineering! To think just 10 years ago this wouldnt have been possible is crazy, these are clearly lego pieces and yet have been invented so recently! Kudos to putting these tecniques to good use 👏
2018 is the first time the 2x2 triangular tiles were seen, and 2021 is the first time they were available in dark bluish grey. The new bowser set has like 30 of them, and I'm assuming that's where the bricklink store I bought these from got them. I've seen some pretty good attempts using wedge plates, but then you've got those studs, which doesn't look great for a road. There's also some off-brand pieces designed specifically for the curved tracks, but the keyword there is "off-brand" lol. Thanks for watching and taking time to comment!
In the empty corner there were you planned to extend the house you could perhaps throw up some smaller building, like a hotdog stand or newspaper kiosk. Would perhaps be neat.
I have to say, I really like the greenery to fill that difficult space! As Bob Ross says, "you gotta make up little stories for your world". Maybe something damaged the sidewalk a long time ago and it would have been too costly to stop rail service to break up the old concrete and replace it? It's your little world and you get to tell the story 😊
Amazing video as usual! Crossing looks great and at the end of the day the most important part is that the train works going over it. The little bit you had to fill with greenery just allows you to add another story to your city! Perhaps have a few members of a construction crew standing next to the track, inspecting it with tools ready to make a repair and maybe a few orange cones either side for a pop of colour. Just an idea but it looks great none the less! Looking forward to the next installment :D
Thank you! :) I had thought of a construction scene too! Or at least some orange cones or something. When I build the crossing gates I'll do something with that--thanks for the suggestion!

A suggestion for the compromise of the broken sidewalk on the last corner. You could make small sidewalk closed gates and place a construction crew there, as if they’re repairing the cracked overgrown sidewalk.

For the sidewalk part that converges ontop of the train tracks, it may be smart to use a 2x2 turntable piece, or put tiles ontop of the train track, and then connect the "floating" sidewalk part directly to the baseplate between the train track bars. You could also try experimenting with ball joints to attempt and get those weird slightly-off angles. The main difficulty would be allowing the clearance for the interlocking socket parts. Potentially rest them ontop of 2x2 turntables beneath the tracks to line them up with the sidewalk above, and build through the bars. But when all else fails, the foliage is a very nice compromise. It does seem like an area likely to get damaged by a train anyways.
I haven't done much with ball/socket before, at least for creating surfaces like you're suggesting. Its a great idea, but at this point, my train can go over it, and it looks believable. I actually like the excuse for some color, otherwise its a lot of gray on gray.

Thanks for making these videos and showing your great builds. However, the music in your videos is mastered to loud compared to your voice, so just a little tip is to balance the audio better. Again, thanks for sharing your videos!
tbh, if you do all this in software beforehand, I feel like while it would prob be more effective in terms of Parts and knowing what you need, but timewise, I feel like Building, adjusting, redoing is gonna be much much faster. I mean, I remember building giant Mechs out of bionicle parts, and it was always "Yes this is good" "Nah, I'm gonna redo this thing, not what I hoped" "Oh shit, my bro built something awesome, I want that too" XD
Prototyping in software can definitely bring about awesome results, but sometimes I need to see it in real space. I also don’t know what pieces I have when sorting at my computer so that can be frustrating. I made this awesome thing but I can’t build it because I need 30 pieces that I didn’t realize were retired and now cost 5 bucks each lol.
@@rebricks Retired pieces, gosh that line hurts, feels bad men XD Agree with you tho, I tried making a vehicle inspired by the game "Grip Combat Racing" that can flip over and keep going as well as having front and rearwheel steering which can be disabled with a switch to only be front steering. Started in Software, then stopped and grabbed my own lego. In the process I realized I needed larger wheels and looked for the largest Wheels Lego ever made, just to find I can't find them anywhere XD
If you're willing to go third party, there are some sidewalk pieces made to fit into the curved tracks, can't remember what the brand is called, but AfolTV and Bevins Bricks have videos about them!
A lot of resources and time tied up on the ballasting railroad tracks. Probably be better to reallocate toward other city needs. Nice channel though! Very talented!
This is a really cool build, thanks so much for showing us! :D How comes the rails are jointed in the middle of the crossing? It looks like a lego version of where real world rail tracks are split to allow for thermal expansion -what is it used for in this case? To make that clicketty-clack sound? Or is it so you can later on sense when the train has stopped occupying the crossing?
So for this layout, I decided to only use first party Lego pieces, including the tracks. I needed that diagonal section to be more than 2 straight track pieces long, but 3 pieces was too long for what I plan to do with the tunnel in the future. Those joint pieces are called flex-track, and its the only way to make shorter straight sections. Its purely coincidence that it looks the way it does, but I did notice it looked like some real track stuff I'd seen before. Really cool, thanks for pointing that out!

They're much further along with their layouts and show their whole process in a similar way (its not just after-the-fact footage and talking about what they built)
I have watched brickcrafts in the past, but i will check out other two. 😊
Its perfect,! It's very nice and as a lego builder we come over these challenges like doing details and
PERFECTLY the porajet like no issues on the way but you made it
The struggle is real in this video.
Relaxing to watch ☺️
Awesome video man! I'm new to your channel and you have a really cool Lego city! I enjoyed seeing the process and trial and errors of making this diagonal train track work! I can't wait for new updates! Also, I subscribed!
Thanks for the sub!
I leave this comment to help the algorithm push your channel. Lovely work again sir!!!
You are the best!
Some really cool techniques I'm gonna be stealing! lol Thanks for the vid.
Its not like I invented any of them lol thanks for watching!
Great video! I love how far your city has progressed!😃
Amazing work! So smooth! Well done sir 👏 👍 😉
thank you thank you!
it was a relaxing and very educational movie 😁
Underrated youtube channel.
😁
Thanks for making these videos and showing your great builds. However, the music in your videos is mastered to loud compared to your voice, so just a little tip is to balance the audio better. Again, thanks for sharing your videos!
Thanks for the tip! I turned the volume down on the music for the first talking section, but didn't for the rest of them...😬
Bro congrats on 3k subs!! btw im your 3000th subscriber congrats man keep up making more videos!!🎉🎊
Thanks for subbing! You're the best!
tbh, if you do all this in software beforehand, I feel like while it would prob be more effective in terms of Parts and knowing what you need, but timewise, I feel like Building, adjusting, redoing is gonna be much much faster.
@@rebricks Retired pieces, gosh that line hurts, feels bad men XD
Agree with you tho, I tried making a vehicle inspired by the game "Grip Combat Racing" that can flip over and keep going as well as having front and rearwheel steering which can be disabled with a switch to only be front steering.
Started in Software, then stopped and grabbed my own lego.
In the process I realized I needed larger wheels and looked for the largest Wheels Lego ever made, just to find I can't find them anywhere XD
Great work
Looks so good. I've been trying to do a curved train tracks for ages now. Any hints or tips much appreciated!
If you're willing to go third party, there are some sidewalk pieces made to fit into the curved tracks, can't remember what the brand is called, but AfolTV and Bevins Bricks have videos about them!
@@rebricks thank you very much. Will look into it. They're a real mind blower so thus should hopefully help!
A lot of resources and time tied up on the ballasting railroad tracks. Probably be better to reallocate toward other city needs. Nice channel though! Very talented!
After a certain point, I think I'd just install a pedestrian bridge, instead of the crossing interacting with a sidewalk.
I did think about it, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Awesome!
No need for the time lapse, i'd love to watch the vireos in real time! : )
This looks so cool I really want to play with it 😫
This is a really cool build, thanks so much for showing us! :D
How comes the rails are jointed in the middle of the crossing?
Really cool, thanks for pointing that out!
you need to make the greenery look intentional. it need to look like you planned on having it be like that and not just a quick solution.
That's one of my goals for next video (hopefully next week)!
It looks like it’s going through the road
