Iona is an amazing ship. Was on her last September for my 60th. Am already hoping to go back this year to explore more...great Vlog...looking forward to the rest 👍👍
Just stumbled across your channel. Love your content approach. You are a very good narrator indeed! Love cruising and about to book my second World Cruise with Princess. Thanks mate! Keep up the good work!
Thank you! Iona is a different experience from other P&O ships, better and worse in some ways. It's good you've got something booked, I'm sure the months will fly by! I have nothing booked at the moment 🙃
@@louised4260 Hi Louise Yes we are on Birmingham Coach too they normally send around 8 coaches down to Southampton from there we was on it last October it went very well
You'll have to let me know what the cruise is like, I've toyed with the idea of a Transatlantic cruise before and would be interested in trying. Not sure there will be many trips in the middle of the Atlantic though 😂
Excellent first day vblog. I see your hoodie has finally dried out and you are wearing it. Looking forward to your next 13 days of vblogs showing what it is like from a young solo cruiser's perspective. This is very unique and very creative material. There is definitely an audience out there. Hope you show what you do and how you relax in the evenings on board.
Thank you, it had just about dried out by the time I started this cruise 😂 Hopefully you enjoy the rest of the series and I can continue to adapt and improve the content as I learn along the way. I can say that I did attend some evening shows this time!
You're the second person to recommend Arvia to me now so I am excited to cruise on her eventually. I imagine Iona would be great for Norway with all the enclosed spaces and windows.
You picked a great ship to start on! Iona has plenty of choices to eat and drink with enough ship that you won't explore it all in 4-nights! Hopefully you'll have a great time which I'm sure you will.
Excellent timing - on this ship/itinerary in 12 days....have seen & read a fair bit, NOT all of it encouraging, so the more I find here to make the prospect as appealing as it should be the happier embarkation day will be. Thanks...look forward, perhaps, to a few more videos before setting off.
Very nice, I'm sure you'll have a great time! What negative points have you heard? Iona has its issues like any ship but I was pleasantly surprised with the ship overall.
That is a fabulous itinerary. Would love to do that on a ship like Iona where sea days give you a chance to enjoy the ship. We look forward to seeing your voyage and travels. Keep the videos coming 👍
Considering this was a roundtrip from Southampton I think there was a fair amount of port stops! There was definitely not enough sea days to fully explore the ship so I guess I'll be back on at some point 😂 Thank you!
Excellent series, informative and funny, but please answer me this..why do you just use the Buffet? When there are so many other great places to eat like The Quays and MDR?
Appreciate that! Honesty, it was the awkwardness of travelling solo. This was one of my earlier cruises and therefore I guess went for the easier option. Don't worry though, on my following Arvia series I went to all the places to eat (free ones anyway!)
We just got off the cruise after yours, hope you didn't get taken down by norovirus as it seems a lot got sick on your cruise. Iona is lovely but we didn't rate the food, we usually go on Disney and it's miles better food. We have booked Iona again for Fjords next year. Look forward to the rest of your videos.
Nice! Did you have a good time exploring Northern Europe? Luckily no I didn't. It wasn't until the last couple days on our way back to Southampton that they started putting restrictions in place, mostly in the buffet. There was noticeably less people about these days. The food is definitely not as good as other cruise lines such as Princess but acceptable I think for the price. Hopefully you'll have a better experience next time!
@@CaptureCruising yes the ports were good and we're the primary reason we booked other than the low price. When we boarded it was getting a deep clean from shoreside crew so we didn't have any outbreak on ours but a few had COVID, colds, and upset stomachs after the cruise which is expected with 5400 people on board. With buffets I always use the napkins to touch the utensils are touched by hundreds, so far so good never been sick yet.
That's great. I done a similar itinerary last year on Britannia and loved the overnight in Rotterdam, such a beautiful place and great to dock in the middle of the city! It's good that they told you about it though, apparently there was a letter delivered? That did genuinely surprise me. And good that the buffet remained self-service for you also 👍
@@CaptureCruising yes they were handing out letters at check in and then they put the same letter in rooms advising us of the norovirus. I haven't looked at P&Os smaller ships as they seem more formal, I don't look as dapper as you in a suit and I love to be as relaxed as possible so I think Britannia might be a ship I don't go on.
That's good they did that then! I'm not sure how many were infected but the ship did seem a lot quieter the last couple days. I think with Iona and Arvia they have made it less formal but not by much. For a week cruise you'd be looking at two formal nights on Azura, Britannia etc. and one for Iona and Arvia. But even then there were plenty that didn't dress up so I'd do whatever makes you happy 🙂
Is this ship good for vegan options? I’m thinking of doing the Iona for the Norwegian fjord cruise in September (never done a cruise) and would be good to find out if they offer this. Also is full board the only option on p&o?
From what I remembered Iona seemed to cater a good selection of food choices for all, including desserts as well. CruiseMummy has a good guide here: www.cruisemummy.co.uk/po-iona-restaurants-and-bars Yes I have yet to go on a cruise that isn't full board with some optional speciality restaurants for a surcharge.
If you're talking about booking the cruise the P&O website is a good place to start: www.pocruises.com/find-a-cruise I've found that Iglu Cruise is also a good place to compare different cruise lines by sorting by 'Best Value' www.iglucruise.com/
If you like Iona you will absolutely LOVE Arvia! We love the cabins on both of these ships they’re so nice! Looking forward to your next vlog!
After cruising on Iona I would love to try Arvia and the changes they have made... hopefully I will get on sometime this year 🙏

Lovely cabin
Nice and spacious as well! Don't always get that.

Appreciate the positive feedback and glad you enjoyed my content! World cruise sounds like a dream... maybe when I'm older.
Fab vlog. I’m yet to try one of the new big ships. By the way I did book another cruise but it’s not until October 😢

Amazing! So many videos of IONA out there and you manage to show things I didn't see before. Great technique.
Thank you, I'm glad I was able to add to the catalogue on RUclips. Hopefully there will be some more unique content to come!
Seriously tempted to book this for May to the fjords.
Iona's meant to be great in the fjords. Plenty of spaces inside and out so take in the scenery 😲
Thank you again for a very informative and entertaining video. Have a good cruise
Thanks for your continued support! Hopefully the rest of the series will live up to the same standard 🙂
Another great video, keep up the good work.

Thank you, I'm sure you'll have a great time. Plenty of outdoor space to enjoy the winter sun! 😎
Nice Vlog…. Although it messed with our heads as you use the same music we use on our vlogs. 😂
Thank you, yes I always feel the same when I watch someone else's video 😂 I guess there is a limited amount of copyright free music out there!
I went on Iona last year to Norway and I’ve been on Arvia to the Caribbean. If you like Iona your going to love Ariva. Have a great cruise

looks fantstic and massive going in october
It's definitely both of those things! What ports are you visiting?
Booked to go on her in April 25 for 4 nights taster. Never cruised before. Hope it does not put us off cruising 😂.

I’m on the Iona in just over 2 weeks. I have an inside cabin on deck 10. This will be my third time on Iona. Love the ship
I hope you have another great time onboard! I feel like you need a few cruises on Iona to explore everything it has to offer

P&O and Holland America are better than Princess now.
I found Princess to be very "samey" but Sun Princess looks to be a good change for the cruise line. It might draw me back, at least to try it.

NO TOURISM🤮
And behind you, the orange painted bollards that were the last things that the Titanic was moored to.
Wow I didn't know that... to think all the times I'd visited Southampton too!
