Water Converted into Explosive Gas - The Ultimate Hydrogen Generator - HHO

  • In this video, I will show you how to make a Hydrogen Generator that produces HHO gas. Electrolysis is used here to separate the Hydrogen from the Oxygen in Water. The HHO produced is highly combustible and can be used as a fuel source.
    I used Stainless Steel Hardware which is more expensive than normal steel or zinc-plated steel, however, it ensures that the electrodes do not corrode or contaminate the generator or the gas.
    For the electrolyte either Sodium Hydroxide or Potassium Hydroxide should be used, using table salt will not produce as much gas and it will also produce chlorine gas and turn the water yellow.

    you should put some medium-grade wire wool in the final pipe before the needle. this would have prevented a complete flashback to the bubbler. the air space above the water can be enough to cause an explosion, last thing you want is a glass bomb.
    Nice design, but risky being glass.

    • @michaelwilson5055
      @michaelwilson5055 6 месяцев назад +4

      @lostforwar5619 correct that's the purpose of the bubbler. You're also supposed to have a flashback arrestor as a primary safety and the water in the bubbler as a secondary.
      if the flashback to the bubbler pushes enough water out of the way almost like it did in the video, it could ignite the hydrogen.
      if you Google flashback arrestor you'll see small inline devices that either have a membrane or a fine/medium wire wool being sold to prevent this.
      Edit: ruclips.net/video/JObaMblT8Bs/видео.htmlsi=IZV-QjCBg-p6l5ko
      this is a spring-loaded flashback arrestor with multi stage safety.

    wacky, I would use a plastic or metal container as a safety measure due to the pressure that the explosion makes inside the small space. And you could put a diode after the converter so that if there is unwanted contact between the plates, the current does not return with that amperage and damage the batteries.

    • @WackyInventions
      @WackyInventions  7 месяцев назад +7

      It was really difficult to find an appropriate container, just for video purposes i wanted it to be see through and all the plastic containers i found just wouldn't seal properly, i did look thick glass and it withheld the pressure of the explosion, but platic would have definitely been better. I plan to make a dry cell in the future so that'll be stainless steel plates with thick polycarbonate plastic and should be alot safer :)

    Using electrolysis to make hydrogen is using more energy than you will get back. Electrolysis is not 100% efficient so some high quality energy (electricity) is lost. Then you have to convert the hydrogen back into electricity. Burning it in a power plant will give you 40% of the energy as electricity. The other 60% goes to heat. This is not a lack of efficiency but the mandatory loss described by Carnot's law. It is just the way the Universe works and there is no way to improve the efficiency of a combustion process to convert fuel into mechanical energy. A fuel cell is more efficient at 50-60%. Still, if you start with a 1000 joules of electrical energy, you get at best 500 back.

    Don’t do this at home as others have said yes because of toxic heavy metal water contamination from electrodes, but also because it is very dangerous to have the hydrogen oxygen mixed, as you can see by the fire flashing through the line. it would be safer to have separate lines for the positive and negative electrodes, so the hydrogen can be collected in a low oxygen, non explosive state

    o2 and h2 are being generated together (!!) no way to counter high pressure / no overpressure safety valve for this much uncontrolled gas generation, high risk of shortening the electrodes with no spacers and rather arbitrary placement … from potential explosions with glas fragmentation to (comparatively) harmless failure and burning of your electronics, this thing got everything. But at least it looks cool while it lasts …

    Try a much higher voltage about 300V @2 amps. and add a pump to force the fluid to move faster around the washers. you will get a way higher output for that size of device.
    Using a much higher voltage allows for a "brute force" extraction.

    GOOSE, you need to separate the gases, and rejoin them at point of ignition, this stops creating a explosion, if you have only hydrogen that burns very slowly separated from the oxygen which doesn't burn it all, you will avoid blowing yourself up GOOSE.
    This is why you join the two gases at the point of ignition through a manifold, when the hydrogen and oxygen gets mixed in the manifold at the point of ignition you cannot blow yourself up, you need to be more careful, because those lovely glass bottles that you've got containing hydrogen and oxygen which is extremely volatile can turn into shrapnel travelling very fast.
