This is great, I met a couple up there in October and they did not even slow down to smile at us. You guys are friendly which is probably why you notice friendliness in others.
Enjoyed this video. You are in my area so it's cool to see you experiencing the southern part of the PCT. Idyllwild is a cool little town. Looking forward to your next videos.
You guys are awesome. Hope you share all of your hikes in the future. I noticed she had almost 1000 subscribers. It should be 100,000. It will be someday happy trails.
The water bottle was a gift for your good trail karma. At the time of this video, I was blowing out the candles of my birthday cake while you both were “One equal temper of heroic hearts, made weak by time and fate, but strong in will to strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield” to nature’s tooth and claw. Thanks for the pleasant commentary and views. Wishing you peace and good fortune. Happy Trails!
I've enjoyed your videos. I have not seen too many SOBO video series, especially in the "desert" section. Now I really want to section hike SoCal in the fall.
In an earlier comment I mentioned how it's a little sad that you are missing much of the iconic Southern California PCT due to you having to rush to meet post-trail travel schedule. That comment was not intended as a criticism, and, indeed, the sentiment in which it was made was captured in your comment about Idyllwild. Your view of Idyllwild is also again a good example of the differing points of view between SOBOs and NOBOs. Whereas you would like to linger longer there, for many NOBOs Idyllwild is a place many get "trapped" waiting out late March/April snowstorms. At the moment there is a five-foot snowpack on San Jacinto and four-foot at Annie's Junction (the PCT high point on the mountain). Many NOBOs with a lack of mountaineering skills elect to skip San Jacinto and come back later to fill in the gap. There's no roaring over the mountain like you all did. If you haven't already seen it, have a look at the San Jacinto Trail Report by SanJacJon on RUclips. It's amazing how severely different it is.
I didn't take it as criticism, no worries. It would be silly for anyone to expect my hike to mimic all others. Very cool to imagine the contrasting experience NOBOs have in SoCal, and likewise my experience of Washington versus theirs. It's fun to think I could hike the PCT all over again someday as a NOBO and have such a different experience. Although I think I'll prioritize some other trails before that though! Haha 🌞
Congrats on 1,000 subs! Well earned. I’ve summitted San Jacinto 5x. Each time has been its own beast and its own beauty. ⛰️ Anticipating your last few vids!!!
