Hi there, they usually need to be around 5 years old when grown from seed, but it can depend on their size, if they are at least 2 inches wide in diameter they are mature enough to flower, I give mine a weak solution of tomato fertiliser once a month during Spring and summer and this seems to help to kick start buds too as the tomato feed is high in potash and encourages bud formation, I hope you see blooms on your horstii in the near future, thanks so much for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a super Sunday XXXX
Hi Lynn. Wat do u do with d old soil wen repotting ? It's such a shame to throw it away. Can it b recycled with new potting materials (provided d old soil does not hav bugs in them of course). Tks. 😊

I'm such a prude, I cringe at the thought of putting my collection in plastic containers. Of course I've only a fraction the number of yours,.... I'd probably feel differently, though, if I had much more. Members of your cactus club gotta be scratching their heads 😳 how they would take on your plants during that time as the need arises.
haha I know I often wonder who on earth is going to take on all the plants when i am on the over side haha, but amazingly there are other members at our cactus club that have 3 times as much as my collection, I know in the future I will have to downsize the collection too as we rent our house and know there is going to come a time when we have to let a lot of the plants go but hope it wont be happening for a good while yet haha, thanks so much Adam for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a super Sunday XXXX
