In this video we will look at Mass air flow sensor troubles and see how to perform an easy fix on a dirty Toyota Vitz maf sensor.
When a mass air flow sensor becomes faulty, the engine fuel metering will be affected leading to trouble starting the engine, rough running, increased fuel consumption, hesitation to accelerate, jerky operation, and check engine light triggered.

My Nissan Patrol ZD30 diesel engine would randomly loose power up hills.
Stop engine and restart and all okay.
One day a mate says, is your MAF dirty.
Now I'd never heard of a MAF sensor.
I located it and it was very dirty, so now I had to clean it. I was advised to use CRC MAF sensor cleaner only.
Well I did this and to my surprise power increase fantastic, no loss of power any longer, my main surprise, fuel economy. This is one critical sensor, glad you're informing people about it.
Answer, clean every time I fit new air filter now.

Dont clean a MAF sensor with Carb cleaner. Always use Mass Airflow Sensor Cleaner, there is specific stuff just for cleaning this part.

Yes in deed. There are times when the check engine light comes on due to dirty mass air flow sensor. If there are no other problems, Cleaning the sensor will turn OFF the check engine light.

Please I need help here,
I have this Toyota Vitz(1.3) which has given me hell for several months now.
The car drives smoothly BUT "engine goes off when I'm in traffic or sometimes when slowing down / decelerating".
In fact myself and mechanics / auto electricians ( they are not too good as I thought) have changed the following
i.) fuel pump(complete) more than 5 times, Spark plugs, Ignition coil, Coolant sensor, Injectors, Throttle body, Engine oil, Transmission oil, just to name a few.
A friend of mine having similar problem even bought a new engine, it worked for sometime and the problem resurfaced.
I'm inclined now to think it's an electrical problem.
Please if anyone here has faced such a situation before or knows someone who has and has been able to resolve it . I would be extremely grateful for the help.

If changing the fuel pump didn't fix the problem then it could be a problem with the Idle control valve or a vacuum leak somewhere in the system.
The idle control valve regulates the engine's idle speed. If it becomes dirty or fails, it can result in stalling when the engine is at idle or during deceleration. Cleaning or replacing the idle control valve may be necessary.
Leaks in the vacuum system can disrupt the air supply to the engine, causing stalling. Inspect the vacuum hoses and connections for any cracks or leaks and replace them as necessary.

Am not fully sure about which sensor you are talking about, but from your explanation it seems you are talking about the coolant temperature sensor. Without more specific information or visual reference, it's difficult to identify the exact component or sensor.

Many problems could lead to non starting engine, Usually fuel related and ignition related issues. Please separately check each. Check to see if all spark plugs are firing and if each injectors are injecting fuel.
What could be the cause of low idle
Some of the major causes of low idle could be: Faulty or clogged idle air control valve, Vacuum leaks, or
Ignition system problems.
When l cleaned the mas air flow sensor l found the oring was so loose.ls there is a problen with rhis loos oring,should l replace, or is there any alternative,or can l buy the oring?p/s l neex to know.
Dear! The o ring is there to prevent uncleaned air admittance into the cylinders. It is there to seal the gap, if you think your o ring is not sealing properly you might considered replacement.

Dear! Check to see if your car have stuck accelerator cable. A problem on the fuel pressure regulator could also cause this problem. It could also be caused by faulty throttle body or just acceleration pedal stuck on the floor mat
