Wow Mikael such a great video ! The music, the tempo of the vid, everything was really done with a high "maestria" ! Congrats my friend, i took a real pleasure to look this vid ! Thanks a lot and carry on making people happy with your vids ! Take care.
Cool video I have one of these I absolutely love mine had it for a year now I put oil shocks bigger tires and adjustable metal links on the front end there very tuff and loads of fun for sure
Thanks, JB! He he, yeah, I had fun editing with that music :-) It was a great first run. A little short, but great :-) Will pack more batteries for the next run :-)
Of course the battery will run out quickly when 95% of the test run is done at full throttle! That's why these things have a proportional speed controller, so that you don't go all out all the time. And it makes for a much more interesting and scale drive as well. I get 16 minutes out of mine on stock battery, but not on grass, just tarmac and gravel. My driving is mostly a mix of slow and medium speed and some full throttle runs on the straights. And by using a 2s 2200mAH Li-Po battery it will double the running time. Just remember to store the Li-Po battery at storage voltage when you're not using it and it will last for a long time. Cheers!
Thanks, Charlie! Yeah, well, it looks more massive than it is when filming from a worm's-eye view :-) Thanks, mate. Hope you will have a great remaining weekend too.
Nice video mate! Cool buggy - love the front inboard shocks, very formula 1 !!! I like the chassis, and the LED's are a nice touch. Some big crashes and she didn't break - a very good sign. Great video, have a lovely weekend my friend! :))
Yeah, I think Tamiya even made Formula cars with this set up? Wonder why Traxxas hasn’t suit them yet 😂 Yeah, it did good. Very fun to drive too. Like a modern Grasshopper 🙂 Short run time though with the 540 on grass. Next time I’ll bring a couple of more batteries. Thanks, Mark, have a great weekend too. Uhh, did I see a thumb nail of a new TT-02 earlier? Will watch when family allows 🙂
@@NordicRC Hehe - yeah, Traxxas has a reputation for suing other companies, even if the original idea wasn't theirs! Yeah, I got a new TT02 for my Birthday - gonna be fun! :D
Nice test and unboxing. It's a good beginner RC for sure! the battery is same MAH as the other brands of this buggy that have the 390 motor so the 390 versions have way longer run time.
Yeah, was a bit surprised when it stopped quite early, but then I thought, 540 motor running in grass with a 1500 mah. That’s bound to run out of juice quickly. There’s 390 versions around of this one? Perhaps a more suitable motor for the battery they give you 🙂 Thanks a lot for watching, Steve.
That's an amazing RC buggy! Super fast and maneuverable I was deciding which RC car to get between this one and the a979b, so I ordered my wltoys a979b 😁
Yeah, it was so much fun! Seen a lot of videos with it so it was cool to try one out. Super bouncy and top heavy but surprisingly fun. Love the A979 too 🙂
Hey there my RUclips friend, I've one of these wltoys rc off-road buggy. It's an awesome rc car, well worth the money, and it's flexibility is brilliant. Bonuses around like mad, fast as well. 👍 👌 👍 Keep up the good work fella. 👏
"free upgrades": carefully slice center tube out of 2 small round neoprene/rubber servo grommets makes 4 shock seals to install (wet) flat side up to bottom of shock body, a good finger tightening to the threaded cups that hold them in. 30w for the rears, light grease for the fronts because they're so small and short with strong springs... what bounce?! real nice. move servo drag link into the lower hole on servo output arm, barely less steering but better torque and less stress on stock servo. not free... WLtoys tries to impress with "top speed", its rough on the motor and ESC both, definitely need to install a smaller pinion gear if you want the stock AIO receiver+ESC to last. the MOSFET's are conveniently a standard spacing for adding a heat sink to them. you'll gain some reliability and run time, losing some top speed but gaining acceleration is worth it. they do roll+flip easily turning, modifying for crawling+bouncing is a nice option. 106-108 mm tires are about as big as it'll take without hitting the body with full steering. Steve's (ShenRC) heat and twist front A-arms to put the steering king pins vertical is a great little trick! my clone (Virhuck V-01 390 powered), cut 1.5 turns off each coil flattening the new ends for more+easier flex. shock bodies are threaded, can always run the collars down some to put it back stiff so no harm in doing that one. a 10t pinion on its 390 motor IS a bit noisy, hard to find 12t for 2.3 mm motor shaft, with 10t it does have crazy torque. picked up the V-01 for 42 bucks, couldn't resist!
That was many good advices, bro. Appreciate it. I will have to go back and check them if I ever get around to upgrading. Have you made any videos with the mods? Could be interesting to watch.
just one rough little video of it running on a steep little hill, haven't locked up the rear diff yet for crawling. kinda neat only taking 10-12 feet to hit its new lower top speed, more in scale with the full size full cage rock bouncing hill climbing cars. so far my 1st upload is the fun/funniest, modding/creating a WPL C-24 mini drift truck. beginning of the A979 video shows how the tiny stock shocks behave filled with light grease, dropped it about 10" 3x, it plops down like a wet rag.
Yeah, those shocks can be upgraded easily. I remember filling up the shocks of the A959-B/A979-B with soft oil. Didn’t have the desired effect 🙂 Hard/thick oil or grease is the way.
yup, at least the A959/979 stock shocks have some kind of seal in them to start with, unlike 12428's and clones. servo grommets sliced into buttons works nice for the inside wall of them being flat and not wearing out in a hurry. front pair a little tougher to get to but whole job takes about 35-40 minutes. not sure about 12428's motor mount, Virhuck V-01 has a round plate that clamps in, just rotate it (offset like a cam) to set gear mesh and tighten the clamp ring down, real easy. it's also got a slipper clutch on the spur gear and all metal diffs, for the 390 motor?!
@@NordicRC I have a similar but smaller version (Feiyue Desert Eagle-3), runs a 380 motor. I still haven't run it yet, but I just know it's gonna be bouncy! 🤣
Yeah, much quicker than I thought. It was probably just the battery cut off. Running on grass with a 540 motor and a 1500 mah will be a short run. I was just very surprised that the fun ended so quickly. I remember running a similar HBX (Thruster) that had the 390 motor, same capacity batteries, and the run time was much much longer.
@@NordicRC OK - so I've had a couple of this 12428 type assembled vehicles, and I pretty much came to the conclusion that the ESC is overheating, or maybe the 540 motor, since it appears to have circuitry, that may(?) cut it off. If You just wait a minute or two, it starts running again. The shorter the time I wait, the shorter time till it cuts off again, which really makes me think an overload, or overheat protection is doing it. I keep promising myself I'm going to get a receiver and probably esc/brushless package, and gut the electronics. Question for you ? ? ? Can I use that five wire servo that goes into the stock receiver on these vehicles? I'm guessing I can, but servos aren't that expensive, and I"ll probably buy something with metal gears if I can't rewire the stock servo.
Fantastic music score to begin with Mikael! That stock battery doesn’t last long indeed, I used mine for the maiden and use s small 2s now. Loved this video my friend and I look forward to hearing your thought on this one!👍😊
Thanks a lot, Jeremy! Yeah, I had fun editing with that music, he he. I will pack a small 2S or more for the next run. That 540 motor, 4WD and grass eats the stock battery up extremely quickly. I was just starting to have fun :-)
Ha ha, a little perhaps. But between you and me, I found out it was just the battery cut-off 😅 Thanks a lot for watching, Nic. Let me know how the upgrades turn out 🙂
For 70$ and comes with a 1500mah battery u can't beat it. U run it any longer than 10mins the motor or esc will get to hot. It gets up to 12to15mph which is real fast for a crawler. If you buy a 2700mah 20c it fits perfectly and run alot longer. If your crawling and driving slow it will run alot longer.
Lol the beginning reminded me of Star Wars with that beginning but the beginning music then kinda sounded like home alone music ahaha. Great video! Finally! Then sounded like Halloween music LOL. Great video! Wish I could get one of these, I’m saving up for other stuff still Have you ever watched home alone?
He he, hi Brian, yeah I had fun editing 😂☺️ I think I remember Home Alone. When I was editing I was more thinking about some of the old Tim Burton movies ☺️
Such a small battery for a 540 rated motor, no wonder il lasts so short. Moreover the car is 1/12, a little bigger than the 1/16 such as the A959, so more weight more power consumption. Just a question, looks like giving full throttle from still lifts one front wheel... Is it due to some asymmetry in the transmission? Or just steering trim, or irregular surface? Thanks
MINO73 Yeah, same with the A959-B and the 540. Short run time. And this one must weigh double the A959-B. And running in grass doesn’t exactely help on run time either. I was just surprised. Thought I had only just started 😂🙂 Uhh, yeah, I noticed that too when editing the video. Not sure why. Maybe steering alignment was a bit off at start.
Was curious too, so watched a couple of other videos from others with it. Could see the one front wheel lift too in some shots when full throttle from a stand still. So you are right, probably some asymmetry or balance issues with the whole design.
@@NordicRC Thinking about it again, maybe it's simply due to the fact that the longitudinal shaft entering the differential (I suppose the rear one, in this case) has one way of rotation, obviously: so its torque may tend to rotate the whole rear axle when applying full throttle. In this case the resulting asymmetry it is inevitable.
yup, torque twist makes right rear shock compress lifting left front wheel. my crawl+bounce modded 390 powered V-01 clone does it too, 10t pinion and trimmed shock springs (even oil filled). you can run the right rear shock collar down a little, won't do it AS badly anyway. same time the torque twist hits weight transfers back = squish!
Hello Mikael, I have question for you. Is transmitter of this car suitable for five years old children? I mean, is the grip small enough for small hands? Or which one from yours cheap cars has smallest transmitter grip? Can you recommend me something? Than you. And of course, nice video.
Yeah, this one is one of the smaller ones. I think it’s kinda designed to fit both kids and adult hands, and the throttle Dual rate makes it perfect fir young ones 🙂
The shocks don't hold oil. I tried with rubber o-rings but the problem is that there's not enough thread in order to tighten the lower nut sufficiently. It will soon start leaking when you jump it. Front suspension: They should have gone for the standard solution. With layed down shocks on such a poor design there is more "suspension" coming from the rubber-like plastics than from the shocks themselves. The plastic bends already before the shock starts to compress, lol. Rear drive shaft broke, jumping it on asphalt (after a few runs) and CVDs bent and broke. Motor gets far too hot on 2S, already. It is fun for a while but the constant flipping over sideways starts getting on your nerves (wheelbase too narrow). I ordered the A959-B. Hope this one will be more fun and durable. I only bought these WLToys because they were cheaper on Ebay Germany then importing them from China. I can't believe that some people spend like 85 or more dollars on this.
