This rc even comes with metal drive shafts. Traxxas needs to get it together.
to my knowledge, plastic drive shaft on my e-revo 2.0 is a sacrificial part for extreme overloads on drive train. broke it once by hitting brakes while still in the air after a jump. couldn't be happier to replace a 5$ part instead of reassembling a diff.

Is there a battery size and plug style you would prefer if tossing those oem cells and fitting larger ones with a more familiar connector?
New to the game, just bought a decent dual charger. Don't really want to buy those batteries as spares and want to get on something standard I can repurpose.

@@mdspence11 it is in fact dyable. Did my cage in red and came out pretty awesome! But i feel it made areas a little weaker as i busted my cage yesterday on a simple roll over on pavement but it was also pretty cold out too. But non the less yes the plastic bits can be dyed!

I bought one about a year ago, bashed it, beat it, tortured it, then converted it to a "cheap" brushless system and holy crap, on 3s it's insane. I have put this little guy through the wringer and the only thing that has broken was a wheel hub, but it was quite cold out when it happened(I'm in Wisconsin). Very fun, cheap rc....and yes, add shock oil.
just commented how to make nice oil seals for the stock shocks, really simple and works excellent.

This is like the perfect practice rig for jumps/flips etc. Don’t risk busting up your $4-500 setup!
Own both the Wltoys 12423 (2 years) and 12428 just over a year. I've upgraded in both the rear differentials to the steel version. And the 12423 is now brushless with a 3650 3900kv motor 60A esc and Steel 45 pinion and spur gear. Truly amazing rcs and value for money. The weakest points are the differentials

I had this rc for 2years now. I burnt the electronics due to a mistake I made while at the beach. Had the stock electronics replaced, put on full metal gears on it and oil filled shocks. And it still runs! I run it like 3-4hrs every week with my 3700mah 7.4V battery.

This video sold me this truck. Just ordered one from ebay. Was unsure about the constant flip over on corners because it's so bouncy, the deferential not locking climbing over stuff, but bedsides those 2, can always put bigger wheels to rock crawl.

SUPER (and cheap!) upgrade. on a small screwdriver shaft, carefully slice the center tube section out of a typical neoprene/rubber round servo grommet. disassemble shocks, a grommet half goes flat side up (bottom of shock body) under the threaded caps. you can now oil fill them. 30wt for the rears, 80wt gear oil for the shorter fronts. it won't bounce.

Hello from Russia. Most crazy and honest crash test! )) I bought 12428 before the video, I own almost 2 years, electronics only had to modify - this is the main disadvantage of this model - burn out receivers. At Li-Pol battery goes 38km/h
Bought the Reely version sold by conrad which is in fact the 12428 and waiting for the 10428. I'm quite impressed with it, it's no more a toy but rather looking like model building so complete and well made it is... The only plastic transmission parts are the central reduction gear and the aft drive shaft but after having run 6 batteries through it so far, no added free play and still looking as new. I only filled the differentials with grease to make less noise.

Great vid kev. Quick tip for you,when you bash like that you will likely break the diff so I recommend you buy metal diff
yup, Virhuck V01 clone has them and only 390 powered, the Feiyu are also metal diff units.

The slow motion blow my mind really i like it, it shows all the details of a crash. Please don't stop the slow motion especially in this car the slow motion was something else. You could see exactly how elastic behavior has this car. Also the way you speaking is so awesome and you are the only guy that makes me to buy these chinnese cheap rc cars plus your speaking in this video is a very cool promoting way to kids to buy these rc cars, you make them look bulletproof. I must say this video, is one of the best, of the best i have see.

Screw making this thing a speed run RC like everyone wants, you should totally build this thing into a crawler I was amazed it made it up that incline.
ShenRC did exactly that, and it's an awesome trail vehicle. they're NOT built to be a dragster, they'll roll and flip, too fast for their own good. for stock electronics the first thing you WANT is about 3 tooth smaller pinion (or 4-5 even). loses top speed, gains burst acceleration, no more ESC thermal cut off junk. in rough dirt or on a short dirt track, it improves them a lot!

cheap rc that are converted to rock crawler isn't really as interesting as a cheap rc that is really really fast

Watching this is like getting your "culture fix" at a heavy metal opera and ballet performance! Wicked cool, but oh so beautiful! Strangely unique, but interestingly satisfying. Getting your mind blown while experiencing the art of romance. Romance? You will love it, your kids will love it, and your grandparents will love it too! (Both the car and the heavy metal opera and ballet.) I'm definitely getting one of these amazing machines! I just wish i could write music and dance so i could compose a heavy metal opera and ballet... At least I'll have the car!

I watched this video and thought this would be a good rc for my boys. So I bought my boys each one for Christmas. They are awesome for the five minutes before they break. I have to work on them constantly. One broke its driveshaft, the switch went out and the battery went bad, the other ones remote broke. I have had to solder the wires back onto the battery plug on both of them multiple times. They get hot and the solder melts out of the connection. Luckily I am mechanical and can keep them going but I am very disappointed in how much they break.
As I am watching this video, at his first test run, my dog started looking around at the floor for mine, hahahaha

$180?? That’s what I paid for our ARRMA Vorteks, which is a proper 1:10 truggy that accepts full size LiPo’s and can be progressively upgraded into a metal-gearbox brushless 4S little monster (what we did). I’d rather have something you can improve as you go.

If you shop around you can usually find these a lot cheaper than the current $179.98 USD price on banggood. I found one on sale about a year ago and picked it up for $48 USD. More recently I ran across the Virhuck V01 for only $42 USD, so I bought two. It is also a Twin Hammers clone but has aluminum body panels instead of plastic.

I actually bought the 1/10 scale of this rc crawler and i lost the rear drive shaft pin i just used a cotter pin instead.

Dude for the money you paid is pretty nice it looks amazing. Well WLToys puts out a lot of decent to. Good quality RC items. but remember it’s a sand dune buggy not built for speed really but 50 km an hour is pretty impressive especially that it’s not a brushless motor either.

When I got mine it was amazing but the the thing that connects the 4wd came off after doing a backflip, upgraded to metal but wheels wobble a bit, only 3 days after unboxing

I wish this was around when I first started in the hobby.
I’ve got two of them and have had them over there years and played with them for quite a few hours a day on my off days. Think I paid 45 each. Love them but suspension does need the oil shock upgrade.

Save your money. The gears are shit. Other than that it’s fun. But I’ve tried it all to make it strong.

From experience I recommend getting all metal gears as the plastic ones wear down easily

I've had mine for 18 months.. I bought the metal gears and hard wear (driveshafts etc).. when I bought the car... I'm still running the stock gears.. unopened...Only thing I did to mine was Oil filled shocks.. made it such a fun car to drive...oh and 35C lipos... yikes... thing's a weapon!!! though, I will add, I have a lot of mechanical sympathy... As a racer in the 80's... you kinda needed to be lol....
Seen a few of these and they always impress for the money . And they have lots of upgrade possibilities. Awesome stuff 👍..... again 😉 haha
i love mine. the trouble i had was stripping the diffs. i tried the metal, but they wouldn't turn. i replaced them with plastic for around 10 dollars and am back to abusing the car. great car. fantastic car for the price.
Hey put a 3s lipo on the back and it will burn the tires and I smashed the rc at 25 mph to a pole and survive and still drives.

Hi kev I brought one of these and I had it for 2 months and plastic sharft thing that goes to the back axle snapped and the metal plate thing bent and a curb so I don't know but I love your vids
2 months and that's all that broke, that is amazingly good!

I ordered one of these a month ago and broke it almost immediately in fact I broke the part of the suspension that you tugged on in your video. I was quite smitten with it until then and couldn't believe my bad luck with it but then again anything that was built a few years ago isn't as good today in alot of situations anyway cheers mate and keep those videos coming.

My dad once spent a ton of money on a Traxxas Rustler with an upgraded VXL motor and some expensive batteries with a really nice charger.
It was fun...but WAAAAY more car than either of us really needed or even really wanted. The thing was super hard to control because it was insanely fast. lol we did have fun trashing the hell out of that thing though!
I'm kind of getting the urge to get another car...but there's no way I want to invest as much as my dad did...and I don't want something that is too fast and powerful.

I bought this RC Car for my 7 year old and have already gone through one set of aftermarket iol filled shocks. What are the best aftermarket oil filled shocks you'd recommend for this buggy? Something durable where the shock shafts are less prone to bending?
