Kevin Talbot the difference in the numbers are the smaller is 12428 12 for 1:12 and 10428 meaning 1:10

There is something magical about seeing those wheels and suspension working its way on the bumps in those slow-mo shot.
I own 3 of these including the green one you are reviewing. They are good for the price for sure. You will strip half of the screws when you have to repair something or take apart the buggy. The remote is really good. I’ve only started breaking axles and cups on the front diff when I locked the front and rear differentials. My dad broke the steering servo slamming into the side walk at full speed and that’s all that broke. 2 years and still going, it’s still a decently priced buggy that I upgrade the parts when they brake with upgraded vaterra twin hammers stuff. I own a vaterra and it’s too expensive for me to keep fixing, its slightly more reliable, the stock servo is better, but its really expensive. I abuse my wltoys because why not? It’s cheap. If anyone is on the fence just do it. Some of the wltoys are not two speed, look at the remote before buying.

These cars are epic and take a absolute bashing for hardly any £££. A few choice mods and you'll be crawling with the best.
Mine has a locked front diff, Boom Racing crawler shocks, Austar 5020 tyres, 80T motor, 20kg waterproof servo and a few other bits and pieces and is a beast!
I haven't ever before seen this Wltoys 10428 before, and I'm pretty dang familiar with the whole Wltoys lineup (mainly the 144001, 124019/8, 104001, and I'm awaiting reviews for the new 104009 and the new brushless 124017/6 and 104010). I never knew they made this 1/10 car, and the radio that comes with it has never come on any other Wltoys car. It also has (as Kev pointed out) some upgrades already on it (compared to its smaller brother), and a 2spd gear box. Very interesting, I haven't heard of this car mentioned online ONCE since I watched this video. I wonder if it was discontinued shortly after the release?? No reason why this car shouldn't get a bit of attention.
Please don't take this the wrong way,but you drive your rigs like an eight year old. I LOVE IT !!! Your videos on "cheap" RC cars helped me decide which "toy grade" to get for my grandson. (And which one for me!)

I got the 28 over the weekend and it broke almost immediately, Im waiting for the 29 which is $170.00 US so I will see how that goes as far as it being a real crawler, I don't like when a crawler has to go full throttle to get over an obstacle to me thats not a crawler but more of a basher anyway keep those videos coming Kev I base a lot of what I'm going to buy on what you say about it.

I got one of these and bought aluminum parts for it and it turns into a tank. The parts are only $70 and the come in red, blue, and silver. You can get it on bang good. Love the vids kev
Which parts did you upgrade?
All of the suspension links and shocks. I am working on turning it brushless, I just have to get the right esc.
@@lominlominlobby7896 Cool. I'm not sure on the brushless. I mean it works great on flying RCs, but as I understand brushed has more control when it comes to actuated 'slow' control. One only needs torque, torque and just a bit more of torque (like brushless low KV camera gimbals used to make those epic and seemingly still images provided by this concept).
A bit late to the game here, but still wanted to post a comment. I was equally impressed by this thing, I bought it in the summer of 2017 and since added LED's on the roof (switched with low/high gearing, low=on) and a small AIO cam where the drivers head used to be. I think I should dust it off and take it for a spin soon, maybe add some LED's in the 'bonnet' too and perhaps a few metal upgrades to further lower the COG and strengthen the drive train. Always wondered if lowering the lower gear ratio a tad would help the crawling abilities...

Perfect value for money for Wltoys. Definitely a greate rc car for a kid and why not for a grown up to have fun, but for sure for a kid is a perfect rc because can take many hits without breake. Man Wl toys doing perfect lastly. I vote that is the best rc car fpr kids, i say kids because of the flexibility and speed compination. The drop test says it all.
Every time you touch the throttle, the car does the Roman Salute ! ^^

It is to bad the 10428 still uses a 7.4 volt battery. If it had a 11 Volt maybe I would by it. Time is limited and would have to buy 3 batteries to get the same time as my Big Foot Traxxas. I do have the 12428 and really like it. The best of 2 worlds so to speak.

Hey kev, idk if you noticed but the open diff has this car lacking, good thing I accidentally ordered a second axle n spider gear set for the rear end, just "pourposly" locked the rear spider gears tonight, letting it sit overnight cause it's dark but if anybody wants one hmu, ima weld the spider gears in the other axle so yall can get a locked diff too
can u upgrade the toy grade cars and run 3s lipo

Not without changing out esc/receiver combo and both servos. 3s will pop the stock electronics. It goes about 16mph stock in high gear, which has enough torque to flip the car over. I'm going to try just an upgraded brushed motor in mine, and maybe a bigger pinion. I feel like it these would go 25mph or so they would be the perfect basher.
You have to change all electronics I think you couldn’t keep the radio without finding a reciever that works for it
These are not toy grade vehicles, they use the exact same parts as the vaterra twin hammers, toy grade is something you can't upgrade(something from Walmart) these are def hobbygrade vehicles
@@dwaynebaker8733 absolutely. They're cheap but shockingly good. Really the biggest disadvantages between this and a Twin Hammers are the combination receiver/speed controller and 5-wire servos. Basically if you want to do any upgrade aside from a pinion gear and upgrading to a faster brushed motor, you're replacing everything.
The radio is pretty nice, I like it a lot, but it does not seem to be compatible with any receiver aside from the one the car came with.

Also in the last year since this vid, the 12427 is 98$ comes with metal gears already installed now although front and rear are open differential, so ya gotta lock it for crawling cabability

Hey stevo we have spoken a couple of times don’t know if you remember anyway the self right on my xmaxx doesn’t work properly it just balloons the tyres rather than the stop start motion any ideas what the problem is ?
MrAdammx93 not 💯 sure on that one, I would try to reset the esc and the remote back to default settings n see if that helps
MrAdammx93 just look in the manual on how to reset both, give that a try n hopefully it fixes the issue

o man, i realy enjoy the 12428 and 10428, specialy the price, the problem of 12428 is the servo, its a trash, i used my 12428 for 2 months and the servo broke, i expect that wltoys have fixed this problem in 10428

Kev can you get a kid toy rc and put a traxus motor in it and add huge tyres
Put a bit of brass or lead in it/ upgrade it with alloy parts and it will be amazing

worth it alone for the radio definately and like the sameller one brillant flexable plastics, articulation and flex are just amazing at the price point, go brushelless with a hobbywing in it on 4s and youd have to spend £400 to do better than it id say

I put a vaterra all metal gearbox in mine, replacing the standard plastic. Great thrasher, looking to power upgrades next.

Hi, I find you to be an expert of WL Toys RC Cars. Am a newby and stuck with a problem. My 10428 was running well the last time I used it. Running it the next day I noticed the steering control is not working. No Left and Right direction however, adjusting the trim with the radio appears to move the front wheels slightly. Please help to rectify non-steering problem. Thank you so much.
but the esc is easily broken if you like to go at max speed

The way that front right wheel lifts up is almost a deal-breaker for me have you found a way to remedy this problem
I think adding oil in the shocks would help reduce the torque twist, and also the rear diff isn't helping by being locked...

A decent set of shocks definitely helped plus all the weight of my fpv and lighting system is up front and slightly right of center now.

You should put some shock oil in it if it doesnt already have any
coil over oil on 10428 as opposed to the AIR shocks on 12428. Type "wltoys cheapest suspension upgrade" in the search box to see a clever cheap mod that makes a HUGE difference! cheers!

The red brick ! Awesome man! If you’ve got the money, get the maxamps. They’ll last you a long time. If you want to spend a little less, consider buying the Gens Ace Basher 5200mah packs. They only cost around 40 bucks each and they’re very good!

$150 for a really good 4WD 1/10? that's a great deal the 2WD Slash is $200 and while yes the Slash is more durable I won't be needing much from strength I'm not airing them out at skate parks, I got a 1/12 I didn't know they made a 1/10 but I'm glad to see the size is like a 2-3 inch difference, being a beginner I'm likely to get some nasty landings so maybe the flexible suspension is better for me anyway, less parts to break, I may pick up that LiPo though I'm sure the 1/12 electronics can handle it it's just a matter of getting it to fit, the 1/10's suspension isn't as bouncy though so that's one upside
